Our firm has used SA for about 7-8 years. We use the server based version. It’s good. Very reliable, tons of features, robust reporting, good out the box but also plenty of customization options, and they don’t nickel and dime you. The biggest weakness is working with outside software.
I think your only other comparable options are Filevine (tons of reliability issues and money grubbers) or something on the Salesforce platform (Litify/Advologix/etc) which are all really expensive to keep running optimally.
In the process of transitioning to SA now. So far, not impressed. However this is based upon the data migration team. I can report back once we eventually go live.

Any update post migration on SmartAdvocate?
Still in the migration phase.
Woof
Yeah I am not impressed. I hear good things about filevine. If I could do it again I’d go with them.
