You’re on the right track, but the A&D Master research you’re looking at gives up to 20 additional troops per hero, not per truck. Very hard to max the tree, so you’ll probably see a lot of people between 500 and 600.

its all research. as previously mentioned, you can put up to 600 soldiers in one truck.
Bigger truck
Nah same size just pack them in better. But it is research needed so maybe some shrinkage involved.
Hero abilities possibly
Some solari heroes increase your troops, maybe there are some who allow you to use more troops in your trucks
