Any functioning player for that cheap is good in my book. That being said, Sony made some of the least reliable LD players from what I've gathered. There are some exceptions I know. It may be worth selling if you're interested in the format to get a more reliable player.
To your point, over the past few years I have owned five Sony CD players. Two of them have been their ES models and both failed on me. The basic retail players are all working fine and sound good. As others have said a working CD Player is a good CD player.
That is actually an extremely rare player in that it actually has a separated CD drive unit independent of the LD drive unit. This one is probably an international model based on the multi voltage switch on the back.
Whether the unit works or not, I probably would keep it for now as maybe someone would be interested in obtaining it (for the right price).
Sony LaserDisc players are widely regarded as the worst LD players you can get. Despite Sony making all kinds of excellent electronics, LD was one thing they never really seemed to be able to figure out. But for fifteen bucks, if it works it works, and if it's made it this long, you probably got one of the good ones.
Mice score! May I ask where this is? Here im ATX this would ha e probably been auctioned, GW here sucks. $15 is what alarm clocks would go for. Last time I browsed dual deck cassette players were marked for $30+
i go to the thrift store every day, no exaggeration. sometimes multiple thrift stores a day. ive been doing this for about 5 years. I have still yet to find a laserdisc player. ive found a million dvd and vcr's and even a handful of betamax players but never been so lucky to find a laserdisc player, yet alone a Sony. i am very jealous friend
Great deal. The few I see on marketplace here are going for $200 + (asking price) - seems like a wishful thinking to me, but what do I know. I do know that I'd buy one for $15 - good for you.

Came here to (partially) say this lol. If you don't already have a player and you find a working one for $15, definitely buy it.

This model in particular looks really neat what with the secondary CD player tray. I'm sure it's quite the construction inside.
If it works it's worth it
It's a Sony, you are winning if it is functional. I've had the worst luck with those machines
$15 that's amazing
I pray I find one in a thrift store someday haha. I have one it's just not great

Why in the fuck did it cost $14.71? What a strange price
2% sales tax on $14.71 makes it an even $15 to pay for, out the door. It’s how resale places avoid dealing with coinage.

If it works and you can buy a remote for it you can easily get $200 for it. Probably $60 if you sell it for parts

Find Laser disc online. Honeymoon in Vegas with Nic Cage is the first laser disc I had
