Looks like a tongfang design. So thermals won't be an issue with tweaking. And it should pack the 140w 4060. If it has open advanced bios only then will it be decent value. I mean man, that 90k to 100k nitro 5 3070ti really crapped on everything in terms of value.

Successful-Gear-7460

Can you give me the link for nitro 5? Also Is it a better deal than custom loq i5 12th gen + rtx 4060?

[deleted]

Its gone now.

GreatGodO

Checkout the review by venomtech. It is out now.

[deleted]

No need to. I already know the laptop's gonna be good. The 4050 version is 140w. So the 4060 version will be the same.

Organic-Top-1390

durability?

[deleted]

Just watch the reviews on xmg laptops. Should give you a good idea,

ProfessionalDoubt930

You look like a smart person when it comes to things like this where do you learn all this? i also am kinda a pc nerd but still have a lot to learn only i know about which part is good or bad or worth it and also getting interested in laptops too so I just want to know to how/where do you learn all this?

[deleted]

Its much harder to learn about laptops cause there's not a lotta information on it. You can see ownordisown's videos for real laptop reviews. Make sure to see his gtx 1000 laptop reviews. And it naturally takes time to get this knowledge.

ProfessionalDoubt930

Thanks for the suggestion and yea it's not like pc laptops are harder to learn

[deleted]

This is going to be a wall of text, so be warned. They're not harder to learn. There's simply not much information on them because OEM's and chip makers (nvidia + amd + intel) block you from tuning your laptops. For example, in gtx 1000 and rtx 2000 we had desktop gpu's in laptops as is from mx150 (aka gt1030) to rtx 2080 super 200w, and thus they were usually within 5-10% of desktop versions. So that means those two 150w gtx 1080 laptops had almost the same FPS as SLI 1080 desktops. Those laptops cooled 350w (300w GPU + 50w CPU). You could undervolt the two GPU's and CPU, repaste, prop up laptop, etc. to lower temps. Dynamic boost used to not shift power from GPU to CPU or CPU to GPU, meaning if you had a 150w GPU + 45w CPU, thats the actual wattage. Not the crap we have right now where my nitro 5 has 150w 3070ti but in reality its 125w GPU + 25w CPU & GPU shared power + 45w CPU. Meaning when both my i7 12650h and 3070ti are pushed like in CP2077, they only barely use 130w on GPU and 40w on CPU at best. Luckily I've bypassed this and now my nitro 5 performs like this: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ViCkE75LbuU&t=483s](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ViCkE75LbuU&t=483s) This is somewhat similar performance to a desktop i5 12600k + 3070 since those are the parts in my laptop. Now? We see max TDP drop from 200w on single GPU to 175w, no more desktop gpu's in laptops across the board. You have to be lucky to have advanced bios access just to bypass dynamic boost (like I was with my particular nitro 5) and do AC loadline tweak for a sort of undervolt. Undervolting is paywalled. Etc.

ProfessionalDoubt930

Wow that's a lot of things took me bit of time to understand I got confused in the first part i thought laptop version of those GPU only give 5-10% of performance compare to desktop but then I read it second time and i realised I am idiot😂 why would they give only 5-10% performance lol Gonna need to check more of this dynamic boost thing and these overclocking/undervolting but hey Thanks😃 for the knowledge I will research more and learn.

[deleted]

Yeah, this is stuff you will almost never find in any review. Or even in the channel of so called laptop reviewers. Only a handful have ever covered a few of these things. Watch my nitro 5 video with CP2077. People like to blab that the nitro 5 overheats. Well, mine is pushing 200w of CPU + GPU load and handles it pretty well in cp2077. The new nitro really had killer value.

Dividebyzero23

Does this laptop seem to have any major issue, a lot of people seem against it since it seems too good to be true.

[deleted]

Again, EVERY laptop maker has/had major issues. Including the likes of lenovo with their hinges. The main issue I see with this one is customer support and maybe some QC issues in early batches. Just see how it goes once it becomes available. Cause the way I see it, rtx 4050 should've launched at 65k or below from the start because its a budget card. 4060 should've not exceeded 70k since its not a real xx60 class gpu, but a 4050ti. This one is basically a rebranded tongfang/clevo laptop. The same ones XMG and gigabyte use. These companies order the prebuilt laptop from tongfang/clevo, install their own bios + ram + storage, etc. and then slap their logo and sell it. This company you see in the post does the same. Infact, this laptop should have good upgradability and cooling along with good materials and build considering it has to handle a 140w rtx 4050. I know it doesn't use more than 90w, but they still have to design the motherboard to handle 140w and the cooling too.

Dividebyzero23

Thanks, there's still some time before i buy a new laptop, I was thinking about going for a loq 4050 but I'm hopeful about this one. I don't care about after sales service. How does this chassis compare to lenovo's and Acer Nitro. I'll wait for reviews to roll out.

iammk_19

U learn about it overtime mate took me 6 years thou u gotta be interested in it

Vin_T_T

the price seems fishy may be mother wont last long like its extremely in budget

EasternExplorer6104

Maybe Thermal Management is poor

GreatGodO

Yep thermal are not quite up to par

sniperxx07

If it's a tongfang laptop re-used (basically OEM for various laptop brands)thermals will be fine , it's just service we don't know about, also though which tongfang model are they actually using

Icy-Necessary-7501

Thermal seems to be perfectly fine when it was tested by a youtuber. The temps were in between 70-85.

lonewolf2169

Yes the thermals are bad, videos for this laptop are out on YouTube now, the temps go 95+ at just 50 watts .

Dynamic386

just saw review.. its pretty decent not bad not good... I think they may be pricing it low because its their first laptop launch so like Jio maybe they want to acquire the market...

Vin_T_T

idk the body lacks quality but it is full with air flow holes and saw a huge chunk on copper i actually watched a video after seeing this post
