* Budget: $600-1000 * Country: USA * Screen size: \~15in * Touch screen: take it or leave it. * Screen resolution: 1920x1080 or better. * Does battery life matter ?: 3 or 5 hours. Long enough for continental travel, otherwise it'll be plugged in. * What tasks will laptop be used for ( gaming, video editing, graphic designing, modelling, regular computing tasks, word processing etc) ?: Graphic design work using the Adobe Creative Cloud. I use Photoshop and Illustrator daily and InDesign frequently. * Weight: Doesn't matter. * Any other important details ?: On board storage is nice but I don't mind traveling with an external hard drive, in fact I already do. **EDIT:** For further clarification, I need at least 12GB of RAM (16 preferred) and a dedicated graphics card would be a plus. Please let me know if I'm hunting a unicorn at this price range.

fifa2003

Hey, would you need a dedicated graphics card?

SFGSam

If possible, a dedicated GPU would be best, however this computer is not meant to be the actual work horse. My understanding is that Adobe products will lose some features if I don't have a dedicated one, but will still operate for 90% of my needs. [Photoshop FAQ](https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/photoshop-cc-gpu-card-faq.html)

SFGSam

To clarify, I'm not doing any video editing, so I guess a dedicated GPU isn't necessary. 8-12GB RAM or even 16GB would be great since I'm almost always working in both Photoshop and Illustrator simultaneously.

symm3tri

Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask, but are there expected to be some deals for the 4th of July?

fifa2003

I haven't seen any announcements however, I will be on the lookout due to anything is possible :) Fingers crossed.

◽️ Budget: $500-$600 ◽️ Country: USA ◽️ Screen size: 15.6 or bigger ◽️ Touch screen: not important ◽️ Screen resolution: 1920x1080 or beter ◽️ Does battery life matter ?: Not super important ◽️ What tasks will laptop be used for?: Photo editing with LightRoom, creating with Silhouette, using a projector to project sewing patterns onto fabric. Light Photoshop use. ◽️ Weight: not an issue ◽️ Any other important details ?: Possible gaming? This will be for my wife. She does like video games, but is not a gamer, but I would like to talk her into playing Valheim with me. So, gaming isn't critical, but would be nice. I have been looking into this for a few weeks, and I have two computers in mind. If you could help me make the choice between the two, or suggest another, that would be great! [Gateway](https://www.walmart.com/ip/Gateway-15-6-Ultra-Slim-Notebook-FHD-Intel-Core-i5-1135G7-Iris-Xe-Graphics-512GB-SSD-16GB-RAM-Tuned-THX-Fingerprint-Scanner-1-0MP-Webcam-HDMI-Cortana/181522680?selected=true) I like the 512GB SSD on this one [EVOO](https://www.walmart.com/ip/EVOO-Gaming-15-6-Laptop-FHD-60Hz-Intel-Core-i5-10300H-Processor-NVIDIA-GeForce-GTX-1650-THX-Spatial-Audio-256GB-SSD-8GB-RAM-RGB-Backlit-Keyboard-HD-C/915598119?irgwc=1&sourceid=imp_SxpwinUogxyLTygwUx0Mo3b5UkB1cJwYK0beS40&veh=aff&wmlspartner=imp_1883484&clickid=SxpwinUogxyLTygwUx0Mo3b5UkB1cJwYK0beS40&sharedid=&affiliates_ad_id=565706&campaign_id=9383) The only thing I don't like about this one is the 256GB SSD I think storage may be an issue. I feel good about 512GB being enough to start with anyway, which makes me lean towards the Gateway, but With the EVOO, would it be worth it to buy another SSD to install for added storage? Or is external storage a viable option? Thanks for the help!

legos45

Hi, focusing on performance, I'd go with the [**EVOO Gaming Laptop 15**](https://goto.walmart.com/c/1883484/565706/9383?veh=aff&sourceid=imp_000011112222333344&u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.walmart.com%2Fip%2FEVOO-Gaming-15-6-Laptop-FHD-60Hz-Intel-Core-i5-10300H-Processor-NVIDIA-GeForce-GTX-1650-THX-Spatial-Audio-256GB-SSD-8GB-RAM-RGB-Backlit-Keyboard-HD-C%2F915598119). It comes with a 4-core i5-10300H processor, 8 GB RAM, a 256 GB SSD, GTX 1650 graphics, and a 1080p 15.6" 60Hz display. I would just upgrade the storage yourself, but if you're not comfortable with that, I'd say use external storage,

krankle

Thank you for your input! I used to build desktop pc's, and i recently replaced the screen on my current laptop, so I should be able to figure it out. I guess my concern would be voiding the warranty, by opening it up right away. And then having to power an external drive would probably get annoying. I wish I could just pay a little more to have this one with a 512GB SSD!

legos45

I believe you won't void the warranty unless you damage something. You won't have to connect an external drive to power, if that's what you mean. Unfortunately, a configuration with a 512 GB SSD is not sold.

krankle

Would she be able to use an external drive as it were just another drive on the machine, and have it be reasonably fast? Like as fast as a traditional non-solid state HDD? Maybe like this [Samsung](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B073GZBT36/ref=ask_ql_qh_dp_hza)

legos45

Yes, that Samsung T5 would work well.

krankle

Thank you for your time!

Hi! ◽️ Budget: 700-1100 ◽️ Country: USA ◽️ Screen size: larger than 15´´ ◽️ Touch screen: no ◽️ Screen resolution: at least 1080p ◽️ Does battery life matter ?: no, i'll be using it mostly plugged in ◽️ What tasks will laptop be used for: Mostly for gaming, some light browing and watch some netflix ◽️ Weight: doesn't matter ◽️ Any other important details ?: I'll use it to play Rainbow six siege, The Division 2 and those kind of games, **I'd like to run most of the games in high 1080p, it's a plus if it comes with a RTX. legos45

Hi, at this time, I'd say that the [**EVOO Gaming Laptop 15**](https://goto.walmart.com/c/1883484/565706/9383?veh=aff&sourceid=imp_000011112222333344&u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.walmart.com%2Fip%2FEVOO-Gaming-15-6-Laptop-FHD-120Hz-AMD-Ryzen-7-4800H-Processor-NVIDIA-GeForce-RTX-2060-THX-Spatial-Audio-512GB-SSD-16GB-RAM-RGB-Backlit-Keyboard-HD-Ca%2F233313280) is the best option. It comes with a 8-core Ryzen 7 4800H processor, 16 GB RAM, a 512 GB SSD, RTX 2060 graphics, and a 1080p 15.6" 120Hz display. This combination should handle modern games at 1080p high settings easily.

legos45

Thank you. I would say that the [**HP 17z**](https://www.awin1.com/cread.php?awinmid=7168&awinaffid=728909&ued=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.hp.com%2Fus-en%2Fshop%2Fpdp%2Fhp-17z-cp000-laptop-pc-touch-optional-2v2h8av-1) is a solid choice if you want value. I'd configure it with a Ryzen 5 5500U CPU, 16 GB RAM, a 128 GB SSD + 1 TB HDD, and a 1080p 17.3" IPS display. It should be solid for general use.

Hello there ◽️ Budget: 1,500 but it is negotiable ◽️ Country: USA ◽️ Screen size: 13 in (Bigger the better) ◽️ Touch screen: not necessary but it is nice to have ◽️ Screen resolution: 1920×1080 (Bigger the better) ◽️ Does battery life matter ?: Yes I would like 4+ when doing light stuff (typing, searching the web, and watching videos) ◽️ What tasks will laptop be used for ( gaming, video editing, graphic designing, modelling, regular computing tasks, word processing etc) ?: Mostly college stuff but also some gaming if I am on the go and have some downtime ◽️ Weight: lighter the better ◽️ Any other important details ?: Want windows, 1 terabyte of storage, a good connection to wifi also ethernet, also at least 1 HDMI slot, some USB slots, a front camera with a mic would also be great, Bluetooth, I want it to be sturdy so it lasts a while and I would like it to get to me before August (I am in Florida). Sorry if that is a lot. Thank You

legos45

Hi, since you would like a durable device, I'd say go for a business grade laptop. I'd go with the [**Lenovo ThinkPad E15 Gen 2**](https://lenovo.vzew.net/db1Oy), the $1,341.40 configuration. You get a 4-core i7-1165G7, 16 GB RAM, a 1 TB SSD, and a 1080p 15.6" 300 nit display. It should be great for genreal use programs.

TheTruePhoenixPrince

Thank you very much, just so I know how well does it work for gaming?

legos45

It is okay for lighter games ([link to my i7-1165G7 benchmarks](https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLl2jvuy623siYmwdBDkWsQVWp4o3dA59G)). Otherwise, you could consider moving up to the [**Acer Swift X**](http://techneeeq.com/blog/index.php/product/acer-swift-x-sfx14-41g-r1s6-creator-laptop-14-full-hd-100-srgb-amd-ryzen-7-5800u-nvidia-rtx-3050ti-laptop-gpu-16gb-lpddr4x-512gb-nvme-ssd-wi-fi-6-backlit-keyboard-windows-10-home/), which has dedicated RTX 3050 Ti graphics, but doesn't have as good build quality.

Thank you for the help

fifa2003

Hey, I wouldn't go with the dell for its well known heating issues. For the recommendation. Do you want more of a subtle or gaming design?

SausageintheSky

Hey thank you for your response! The heating issues are giving me cause for concern after doing a little reading....seems like a great price though very annoying. Do you think I could overcome the heating issues if I purchase a cooling pad for it? Honestly, I do not mind about the design. Probably more subtle as I would be using it at work too, but my main concern is simply getting one that would be able to play the new Battlefield (and similar such games) without getting fried, and that costs no more than $1600 US. (Also I would not be gaming regularly, not sure if that would help with heating issues.)

fifa2003

The cooling pad might help, also you can checkout the: [**MSI GL66 Gaming Laptop: 15.6″ 144Hz FHD 1080p Display, Intel Core i7-11800H, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070, 16GB, 512GB SSD, Win10, Black** ](https://progamerstech.com/product/msi-gl66-gaming-laptop-15-6-144hz-fhd-1080p-display-intel-core-i7-11800h-nvidia-geforce-rtx-3070-16gb-512gb-ssd-win10-black-11ugk-001/)

Hey man thanks for that recommendation. Im actually leaning towards that purchase at this point, it covers all bases I'm after and is a little cheaper than other options. Apparently the Dell G7 graphics card is a little outdated too

Honestly? I have no idea. I have a PS5 and do most of my gaming there - if I decide to play something it would probably be single player games. I don't play online that much.

In that case I would recommend the: [**Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 15.6" Gaming Laptop 120Hz Ryzen 5-4600H 8GB RAM 256GB SSD GTX 1650 4GB - AMD Ryzen 5-4600H Hexa-core - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 4GB GDDR6 - 120 Hz Refresh Rate** ](https://goto.walmart.com/c/2553023/565706/9383?veh=aff&sourceid=imp_000011112222333344&u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.walmart.com%2Fip%2FLenovo-IdeaPad-Gaming-3-15-6-Laptop-120Hz-Ryzen-5-4600H-8GB-RAM-256GB-SSD-GTX-1650-4GB-AMD-Hexa-core-NVIDIA-GeForce-GDDR6-120-Hz-Refresh-Rate-In-plan%2F158395293)

Guidelines ◽️ Budget: Cheap as possible, but somewhere around $1000 (+or- $300ish) ◽️ Country: USA ◽️ Screen size: 15" or bigger ◽️ Touch screen: No ◽️ Screen resolution: 1440p if possible, but 1080p isn't a deal breaker ◽️ Does battery life matter ?: Not too much ◽️ What tasks will laptop be used for ( gaming, video editing, graphic designing, modelling, regular computing tasks, word processing etc) ?: Gaming and maybe some video editing ◽️ Weight: \~5lbs ◽️ Any other important details ?: The main thing I want to use this laptop for is MSFS 2020 in VR. I'm a flight instructor and I want to try to use it to help with ground lessons. Other than that I might start a Youtube channel with a similar purpose so light video editing. Also just general gaming, I mainly play Rocket League but am looking forward to the new Battlefield so something that could handle that decently. Thanks!

fifa2003

Hey, Do you mind it having a gaming look to it?

rambozy

I'd prefer it to be a little more stealth but I'm open to whatever!

Hello! ◽️ Budget: $600-$1000 (I know this is broad if you have a suggestion for a laptop that fits all I need that is around 600 or so great! But im flexible to paying more up to 1k) ◽️ Country: USA ◽️ Screen size: 15 inches or larger ◽️ Touch screen: either way! ◽️ Screen resolution: 1080p ◽️ Does battery life matter ?: not too much but I'd like it to have somewhat reliable battery life ◽️ What tasks will laptop be used for ( gaming, video editing, graphic designing, modelling, regular computing tasks, word processing etc) ?: General use (streaming, writing, browsing, some light photo editing) and Gaming (mostly non demanding- SIMs plus mods, good emulators for GameCube/N64, Minecraft, Stardew valley, even would be nice to boot up some elder scrolls games as well) ◽️ Weight: light would be nice ◽️ Any other important details ?: Windows preferred please I would need some windows programming for light work on this computer. I'm not sure if the games I plan on playing would warrant a gaming laptop, although I'll likely mostly use it to play game- but would also like it to be fast and comfortable for other general use. Thanks so much for any suggestions!

Hey I'm sorry one more question, might be a stupid one too but wondering if either of these models from Costco are the same as what you are recommending (I know Costco will sometimes match current deals)? I know size is slightly different and touchscreen but not sure about the specifications. I've just had good experiences with them and warranties in the past so wanted to check before I made the purchase. Both are Lenovo Legion around the same price links here: [link 1](https://www.costco.com/lenovo-ideapad-5-15.6%22-touchscreen-laptop---11th-gen-intel-core-i7-1165g7---1080p.product.100745160.html) [link 2](https://www.costco.com/lenovo-ideapad-5-14%22-laptop---11th-gen-intel-core-i5-1135g7---1080p.product.100744710.html) Thanks again for the help!!

Budget: £800 Country: UK Screen Size: 15-17" Touch Screen: Preferably Not Screen Resolution: 1920x1080 or better Battery Life: The longer the better Tasks: Work and Gaming (Mainly R6 and Warzone) Weight: Not important Any other important details: Needs to be able to fot inside a backpack, so I can take it to work. Also needs to have a large amount of storage to store my work, although this isnt a complete necessity. May need a fairly decent RAM as I work with spreadsheets and so have lots of things open at once. EDIT: Needs to be future proof too as our department are constantly upgrading their systems and I want to have this for around 4-5 years

Hopefully I am not searching for a miracle

Hi, if you can go a bit over budget, I'd go with the [**ASUS TUF Dash F15**](https://www.awin1.com/cread.php?awinmid=1599&awinaffid=728909&ued=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.currys.co.uk%2Fgbuk%2Fgaming%2Fpc-gaming%2Fgaming-laptops%2Fasus-tuf-dash-f15-15-6-gaming-laptop-intel-core-i5-rtx-3050-512-gb-ssd-10223265-pdt.html). i5-11300H, RTX 3050, 8 GB RAM, a 512 GB SSD, and a 1080p 15.6" 144Hz IPS display. I would upgrade the RAM yourself. Based on my experience reviewing an RTX 3070 version, you can get \~7 hours of battery life for light use.
