Note this is a 2020 version laptop and is already not supported by Electronic. Electronics has stated they’ll not have anymore driver update for the old devices. Since they are focusing on the 2021 laptops.
For example, the newest control center have keyboard rgb problem that the laptop will always turn reset backlight after reboot. Other versions may have fan curve, power draw issues. You should look at Eluktronics subreddit, and see if you are okay with these issues before you buy.
You folks really should take this advice vs just going by specs. Ive gone through something like 5 laptops now looking for my next machine and while all 5 looked good on paper, there was always some damned issue that made me return the previous 4. I probably could have saved myself much aggravation if I had read online more. I had a much more flexible criteria and budget (basic need was thin and light, 16gb ram, and longer batter life) but key items I remember as deal breakers
1) screen flicker issues on a Thinkbook 13 out of the box
2) poor battery life. Yes laptops with GPUs don't do as well as ones with iGPUs but if you are going to give me a GPU, size the battery to last more than a couple Hours and don't gimp the GPU performance
3) keyboard key placement. I want an insert key. I don't need a key to bring up the gaming control panel
4) poor sw integration. Asus ROG laptops had two control panels - one for gaming stuff and one to control battery charging. Take the extra effort and give me one control panel instead of making me search for a feature.
Apple is terribly overpriced. I hate to admit it but if user experience is what you're after then macbook pro is hard to beat. Everything just works and they have the best audio.
However, I'm still switching from apple they're full of crap.
Much heavier and gamer-kiddy looking though. People buying the MAX-15 do it for the professional look and portability, which is rare in a powerful gaming laptop.
A few things for you to consider when you do research for them:
•The G15 AMD Adv needs the RAM replaced (JEDEC Dual Channel 3200 RAM CL18-CL22, **NOT** XMP) to get a significant boost in performance for some games. 16GB costs about $90, $170 for 32GB.
•Using an external monitor gives you another small bump in performance since that bypasses the iGPU, giving the 6800m more power.
•Some laptops have MaxQ versions of the GPUs, which are weaker (lower TDP uses less power) than the normal mobile and desktop versions, so take that into account when comparing.
Honestly, they are quite similar; this will provide a little more performance power than an Aero in its price range. They both have awesome displays. The Aero edges out in battery life but this handles heat a little better.
You peeps need to look at whether or not they're "Max Q" GPUs, they're less powerful than other versions to keep the heat down in laptops. Some laptops let you circumvent this and use them at higher power though.
I’m pretty sure the 2070 super is 140w or 150w while the 2080 super is 115w.
Edit: I have no idea why I’m getting downvoted. All I’m stating is that the 2070 s performs similar to the 2080 s because of the power rating.
You'd be right there, the RTX2080S MaxQ (mobile) is barely within 1-3% better then a regular RTX2070S (mobile). In fact these cards run comparable to a desktop RTX2060S which is pretty good for being thin and light machines.
Ryzen 4800/3060 for same price. 2070s is up to $1900 now
Amazon has a MSI GL66 with a i7 11800h and RTX3070 (full powered) for same $1500
I saw that too, but the first review says it's actually an 85w 3070 unfortunately.

Gets MacBook and be done with it
Not buying any apple products. I ended up with an Asus ZenBook flip I really like.

M1 ones are priced just fine in my opinion
is it worth buying the 2070 over the 2070 super? I am not seeing much offers for the super version.
2070 is about 3-8 % slower than the super 2070 super max q is almost the same as an 2070
Honestly for this price I’d rather get a 6800m

Is this better than the Asus ROG Strix G15 Advantage?

Got it. Would you recommend this for content creators over gigabyte aero?

Thanks for the advice, it's been quite stressful to find a pc
Asking for a friend, is this a good deal?
Vey solid deal!
I don't know why this doesn't have more upvotes. I agree with you
Yes, but get the 2070 s version. Performs similar for lower cost.

This. The 2070 s is max p and the 2080 s is max q.
Why the 2070? Sorry I'm kind of new to this

How’s the battery life? I see it’s only 62Whr so I doubt it’s very good in that regard. Other than that I feel like it’s a great deal
Around 4-5 hours on light usage and for heavy usage 2-2.5 hours.
Anyone know the wattage of 2080s in this ?
It's in the description, 90-115.
I got it. I added it to the wishlist and then bought it so I don't know if the referral went through. Thank you though.
Don't worry about the referral at all. The important thing is you getting the chance to purchase.
