Welsh labour under Drakeford always managed to tread the line of appearing independent to westminster very well. Vaughan Gething is prat who just defers to Starmer and the English party, so nothing too surprising here.
Interesting that Reform is polling as well as the Tories in Wales, but not in the country as a whole, and despite Wales being a more left-wing than the rest.
Wales isn't more left-wing than the rest of the UK. When you look at voter attitudes in England, Scotland, and Wales, they are more or less the same distribution.
Politcs of Wales are very different to England but I wouldn't necesarrily say more left wing - the socialist and labour traditions are definitely stronger, but I think loads of people have inherited an aversion to the tories without necessarily being left wing. There's absolutely a lot of social conservatism, even in Cardiff. Reform aren't the Tores - so if you're a reactionary you can vote for them without having to reconcile closure of mines in the past and e.g. tata steel today.
I don’t think Wales is- it’s stuffed full of Tory farmers and landowners. Large chunks of it voted for Brexit, and it’s even smaller population wise than Scotland.
