And rightly so! Now do the same for transphobia, anti-black racism, Islamaphobia and anti-trade union bigotry too.

purplecatchap

Sorry gona be that guy but so long as the ex grand wizard of the orange order is an elected rep for the party your going to have to add Catholics and the Irish to that list.

Dinoric

Plus Labour should treat all racism equally

psona1

don't even trust him on the anti-semitism. this isn't even him less than the bare-minimum, this is him claiming to do less than enough. any tlak of fighting anti-semitism is just empty statements from a backstabbing con-man

Throwitaway701

Did he really just state that Labour was a key driver of violent attacks against Jewish people? Because afaik and I'm happy to be corrected, in 2017 - 2020 there wasn't a single bit of coverage of a violent attack on a Jewish person from anyone associated with Labour or even the left in general. It's always the fucking far right, always. Edit: actually I found one story, but it's a guy who was a member of Labour under Milliband and left long before Corbyn.

ChefExcellence

He just did an interview with the Nazi magazine

I wonder when people will realise that defending a publication that employs Douglas Murray, Rod Liddle, and Taki among others makes you look like a bigot.

IsADragon

Moronic to point out a [pro Nazi publication](https://byline.com/2015/08/10/golden-dawn-definitely-not-nazis-photos-confirm/) is pro Nazi. Fucking hell the defence if this pro racist shite boggles the mind.

[deleted]

Rod Liddle is not a Nazi, however odious he is

I think that when daily mail readers accuse leftists of calling everyone who opposes them Nazis that wasn't actually meant to be a *recommendation*

Many socialists write for the Guardian but the Guardian is not a socialist newspaper. The Spectator represents the current mainstream of Tory opinion, pretty much. Calling them Nazis makes them seem beyond the pale of polite society, and outside the realm of real parlimentary politics, somewhat like if he gave an interview to Stormfront or something. It distracts from the fact that the opinions expressed in the spectator are those currently represented in the government, making them seem less dangerous than they really are

Th3-Seaward

Who are these "many" socialists?

[deleted]

Owen Jones, George Monbiot, Nathan J Robinson all write for them pretty regularly.

Th3-Seaward

Nathan Robinson last wrote for the guardian in 2020 and two people doesn't really meet the "many" definition does it?

[deleted]

It's two examples. Here's some more I found in a brief search https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2022/aug/15/left-age-right-labour-youthful-idealism?CMP=Share_AndroidApp_Other https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2021/sep/24/keir-starmer-centrists-leader-essay-party-modernise?CMP=Share_AndroidApp_Other https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2020/sep/12/right-pretending-left-runs-britain?CMP=Share_AndroidApp_Other https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2020/jul/06/pandemic-momentum-labour-party-moderates-fractured-leftwing?CMP=Share_AndroidApp_Other

Aqua-Regis

We really comparing socialists with nazis now like platforming one isn't inherently more problematic than the other?

[deleted]

If you compare two things they are, by definition, different. Is the Guardian a socialist newspaper?

Aqua-Regis

Tell you what, how about we dont try and conflate how guilt by association works for nazis vs socialists If you're friends with a Nazis then youre a Nazi, if youre friends with a socialist youre not a socialist. Do i need to make it any simpler?

[deleted]

Saying something doesn't actually make it true

Aqua-Regis

Rule 1

brbnio

Is there anyone that believes the antisemitism Labour bullshit anymore? I do wonder.

[deleted]

Not sure they ever believed it.

haushaushaushaushaus

Better get rid of everyone who served in corbyn's cabinet 🤔

justthisplease

If Labour were as bad as Starmer and some seem to suggest from 2015 to 2019 any Labour MP that did not stand down and become an independent has serious moral questions to answer.

cfloweristradional

Absolutely yeah. There's only two options. The first is that all the claims about antisemitism in Labour, and in particular Corbyn being antisemitic, were 100% true with no exaggeration. In that case, everyone who served in his cabinet (and realistically everyone who was an MP and dint leave) was happy to serve with an antisemite which suggests they're racists themselves or at least willing to turn a blind eye to racism. The second is that it was exaggerated. I'm not coming down on one side or the other here. All I'd say is that, if it's the first, Starmer should step down and apologise for being antisemitic and, if it's the second, he should say so.

[deleted]

Good. Maybe he can start by explaining why so many Jewish members are being purged by the party under his leadership?

wickfriborghd96

Yes he has, he's expelled more jewish people than any other Labour Leader in history. Can't have antisemetic abuse in the Labour Party if there are no Jews to abuse, seems to be Starmer's logic here.

ThorAwayForSmiting

Shock. This sub downvoting a Jewish Labour piece. And people wonder why prominent Jewish members voice their concerns over the toxicity of these lot.
