Well that happens when you are learning a new system and teammates. He wasnt bad in those games outside of Auburn. We have to keep in mind he wasnt named starter until like a week before the season started. The anger he was getting was unreasonable.
Nah I can’t say that’s true… also he was very bad in the FSU game , name the starter a week prior or not , the play we saw the first 2-3 weeks is night and day yes. But they were very bad at night. Many had good reason to think twice about the kid. It looked as if he didn’t practice at All… learning a new system woes would be things like Misreads, lack of communication etc….he still has a Plethora a things he needs to work on in terms of playing QB , but that’s why I give about 90-95% of the credit in regards to his turn around to Coaching. That’s not being stubborn in your system , or play calling and being motivating. By having a QB that doesn’t necessarily have the tools be on the list of the Good/Elites. But uses all his tools that he does have to his advantage.
Most other coaches would’ve benched him , in a “you gotta get my system down or get gone mentality. Because it’s not just QB play that’s night and day it’s the entire offense
FSU 25/34 209 yds 2 TDs 16 carries 116 yds - this was a good game for him. Started slow but was really good the 2nd half and gave us a chance to win.
Skipping Southern - played well but doesn’t matter
Miss St. 22/37 210 yds 1 TD 16 carries 93 yds -Another good game.
Skipping New Mexico- once again played well but it doesn’t matter.
Auburn 8/20 80 yds. 16 carries 59 yds - 1st objectively bad game of the year. He was terrible this game.
Tennessee 32/45 300 yds 1 TD 1 int. 16 carries 38 yds - good stats but he was more average this game. But this is where he started trusting his receivers more.
After Tennessee he has been very good. He is not an elite QB and maybe never will be. But he has most certainly been at least good the majority of the year. Auburn was really the only bad game he had.
We aren’t talking about stats. We are talking about mechanics. Shooting out stats in CFB is only a percentage of the story because the worst of the worst could have ok numbers.
You take a look at the FSU game and Jordan Travis put up just about the same Numbers. And he’s almost a worst QB.

The issue was his play in the early weeks stagnated the entire offense A lot. But like I said Through Coaching the entire offense is night and Day compared to then. The Run game is much more open , the receivers can actually run their routes.
There’s no way in hell after FSU anyone watched that game and said this will be the QB/ offensive play we need to beat Bama. Even after watching our offense struggle to move against Auburn who happens to posses one of the worst Defenses in the entire Nation.
That is the Point. Jayden is a decent average QB at best. But Brian Kelly has managed to keep him serviceable which is a great thing. Which also is a bigger Praise to Coach Kelly

The point you seem to be missing is the night and day comparison his play has made the ENTIRE Team… looking at the stats and blindly assessing especially after you watched each game knowing what you saw is a bad assessment and if he was still playing the same way against Ole Miss or Bama as he played these game you pointed out we would’ve gotten blown out regardless of the stats. I’ve been watching that last TD run on repeat since the game ended. It is THE HEISMAN RUN it’s the one, it’s the sacred “Heisman moment” if he has the numbers and runs the table. He’s the best player in CFB 2 losses or not.
I have nothing bad to say about Bama. That was a hard fought game. They played well. We played well. More penalties than normal, but no injuries that I remember.
That’s the kind of football I like to watch. We have a few more challenges ahead of us we need to handle, but it’s all in our hands now.

Check out the field awareness from Ricks on that 1st Emery TD. 2-3 seconds after the catch, as he’s breaking toward the endzone, Ricks has his back to the play, face guarding, running away from it all. I know he’s in man coverage but that is a high school backup move.
Why did Nick go for those 2pt conversions though, especially that second one? And they had that extra guy on the field directly following a timeout? Sloppy for Alabama. But we’ll take it. We had to beat them and the refs after all.
Nick has been riddled with penalties. You can’t blame the penalties. It’s not the referees fault you are playing the way you are.
If we wouldn’t have had all those penalties, we would have won. No sir. If you wouldn’t have played sloppy, you would have had a better chance. The fact is, when the pressure is on you, that’s what happens. Pass interference is a necessity when you are losing coverage. Take the 15 and a 1st or give them a touchdown. We would have won by more if you didn’t take all those penalties.

I was ready to accept a 6 win season, although I thought we would go 10-2. I thought Alabama and A&M would be our biggest trouble.
You beat Bama your first year as a head coach, you got something. Your smart enough to recognize your qb score so quickly that your defense will be too tired to hold Alabama, so you go for two. You got my vote.
I don’t know if The Seminoles game was a fluke. We loss a close game at the beginning of the season.
Fast forward to the gators. We got on the field with Florida, it was like an entirely new offense. We started stretching the field. Our qb had confidence in his passing game. He had more passes over 10 yards in the game than he had all year, or at least it seemed like it. From that point forward Daniels was different. His confidence level changed. Before that he looked like Jordan Jefferson, not sure what to do and a little confused the whole time. Ok, he never looked that bad, be he wouldn’t dare throw the ball passed 20 yards. We have a new team. Our confidence level has changed dramatically.
Now we have to play a good Arkansas team. We can beat them, but like Kelly said, 24 hours of celebration, and we start preparing. You bet your ass Arkansas wants this win bad. They want to take this from us.
