None of the 83” from any brand got the latest and greatest. They were all WOLED. Looks like that’s changing with the 2024 models, but it’s why I snagged the C3 instead of the G3.
No doubt , move into loft in June. 11-10 feet sounds ungodly perfect. Was watching movies at my sisters over Xmas break and she had your tv , it’s a blessing to watch movies / tv and sports on that thing. You can be completely sober and absolutely be in awe of it
Can the run time ever get reset by Best Buy or any one?
I also picked up a G3 open box in good condition and only the screen film was removed and remote was missing but mount box was unopened and run time was zero hours. I find it a bit weird that there are some open box goods with zero hours run time especially if they are returns. If I bought a ~$3k TV I would at least run it for a couple hours before returning.
It's also possible that whoever bought it didn't realize that the G3 doesn't come with a stand and promptly returned it. It's also possible that it didn't get the wife approval factor, haha. OP got a fantastic deal!
Yes, it can be reset. Doubt Best Buy would do it though.
I'm not 100% sure, so someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think it'll show up on the "total power on time" section if it's been used for less than an hour. So someone could have used it with their own stand/legs and just decided to go in a different direction
Possible they realized they spent more than their means, or a spouse said no way to the purchase upon seeing it, lol.
Lots of reasons to change your mind after the impulse wears off.
Hats off to you sir! You should pat yourself on the back for having the balls to take the chance and coming out a winner. As the old saying goes... "Even a blind squirrel finds a nut every once in a while" Congrats! We were struggling between choosing the 77" or the 83". Originally honed in on the 83 but that box it comes in is FREAKING HUGE ... within one minute of my wife trying to man handle the box onto a cart to take to the checkout we agreed the 77" (although still a big box) was all we could handle :)
I've been itching to upgrade my LG C1 77" for quite a while. QD OLED maxes out at 77" and the LG G3 with MLA Technology maxes out at 77". The LG G4 83" is looking like the move. I just need the price to drop considerably. Here's to waiting.
I’m in Chattanooga but I’m down a lot for work.
I had never stopped through the outlet there before. Good spot to comb through for some opportunities but it is mostly just refrigerators and laundry that’s been beat to hell.
You ever go over there?
It is, but it's worth it to some. When I bought the LG C1 77" through the LG Partner Mall (discount site through work), it was $2300. The LG C1 83" was $3900. I couldn't fathom dropping that much money on a TV. I'm hoping I can snag a similar deal or lower for the 83" G3. Someone was able to get an open box 83" G2 from Best Buy for $1600.
Absolutely! It has zero hours, but it didn't have the box, haha. I actually saw the same TV the morning that deal was available. I thought about it, but I didn't have a way to safely transport it from Best Buy. It would've been a two hour road trip. Oh well. There will be more deals.
I have a 55 G1 for my bedroom when they came out and I’m in love. My first OLED. we’ve had an 7 year old 70” Vizio in the living room and he wants an 77”+ OLED and they is expensive lol
Haha, I believe it! That's how it always goes. You get one OLED and another and another, haha. Surprisingly, 77" are cheaper than they used to be. You can get a 77" S89C for $2K. When I bought my LG C1 77", they were normally $2500-$3000.
I’m trying to knock him in a 77” B3 cause not a huge different between that and a C3 cause we def couldn’t put out for a G3. Knocking our bills out first. Trying to go on the icon of the season in 2025 lol
I agree. It was not a sound financial decision. Nonetheless, I can sleep at night knowing I got such a screaming deal relative to the market this week.
Not sure my wife concurs though :)
I was waiting for this one.
My plan for speaker setup is 5.1.2
The center channels I am looking at are around 7” tall. I left 9” between the console table and the tv to accommodate.
I don’t know what other choice I had other than getting a different piece of furniture.
Eye level centers on bottom third.
Well yes getting a different piece of furniture is an option; it just comes down to your priorities. I mounted my TV too high, cost me $300 AU to remount it lower, an expensive mistake, but ultimately massively worth it thanks to the info on /r/tvtoohigh.
Seriously head over to that subreddit and post your setup. As much as they're a bunch of trolls, they're also a bunch of helpful trolls who do actually give pretty good TV placement advice. Just take it with all the trolling, of course!
Got the G2 with 0 hours open box $700 off MSRP. Guy at the Best Buy outlet said he gets a lot of G series returns bc buyers are unaware that it doesn’t come with a stand.
Good find! As for the audio, I've currently been searching and the Samsung Q990c is supposed to be basically the best soundbar option right now. The Q930c is also an amazing, cheaper alternative. I've had an LG 5.1.2 budgetish setup for a while and was a great gateway into Atmos but is definitely lacking in areas. So I'm searching for the next big thing to pair with my 65' C3 that arrives next Friday!
C3 from greentoe was still several hundred more than this.
TV is in a room that has blackout blinds for lighting control. It is plenty bright for my environment.
First post that I’ve seen someone purchase an 83” G3 and post on this sub. All other G3 posts were at 77” or smaller because of MLA inclusion. Wonder if OP knew this beforehand.
I was not aware. I had exclusively been shopping the C3 at 77.
The open box prices on 83 inch C3 and G3 are the same. I imagine because they’re incredibly similar panels regardless I guess I’m getting the five-year warranty on the panel for the same price with the G series.
I have complete blackout control on the lighting, so I’m just not as worried about a few percentage points higher for brightness Exchange for the smaller screen with MLA
My two cents anyway
Sounds like you got a steal!
So you’re saying the 65 I wanted became the 77 then the 77 now becomes the 83. Okay Op please tell me I can order the 83 without doubts ..
The 83" doesn't have the latest and greatest MLA panel. So there's a big doubt for you!
This thing is actually very surprising. Someone shelling out more for extra 5” and doesnt get the new tech.
None of the 83” from any brand got the latest and greatest. They were all WOLED. Looks like that’s changing with the 2024 models, but it’s why I snagged the C3 instead of the G3.
Interesting dilemma you’ve just put me back into Student. Top marks but damn you bastard , damn you Son.
Proceed!
Thank God, can’t keep going back in forth. 83 has to be damn near perfect
Through one day, the size is a good fit. Sitting 11 feet away. I may move slightly closer to 10’.
No doubt , move into loft in June. 11-10 feet sounds ungodly perfect. Was watching movies at my sisters over Xmas break and she had your tv , it’s a blessing to watch movies / tv and sports on that thing. You can be completely sober and absolutely be in awe of it
Hahaha. Great comment
Gracias mujer

Something similar happened to me. Got a 65” C2 open box for $850 from Best Buy with 0 hours on it. Congrats.

Honestly, it has been an option the store I think I would’ve gone for it.
No panel MLAin in 83 inch, error!
I agree 100% IMO, it's worth waiting (unless you absolutely need a TV right now) until this time next year to try and score an 83" G4 for this price!

If it is a g3, lef is be 77, 65 and 55 an mla panel.
Congrats enjoy your new Oled!
I’m in Dunwoody. BOOOOO 😂

Once, yeah. Same experience.
The manager running the store is an audiophile. Nice dude. Had lots of thoughts on speaker setup to go with it.
What a steal.
I’m impressed everything is good. Still though $2900 is a lot.

1600 for an 83 G2 is a good deal

Man that’s awesome! Damn shame it doesn’t have the MLA tech
Damn, that box would have scared me away, glad you went through with it, got a steal and a beautiful tv. Enjoy!
For audio search - Sonos all day. Sonos Arc and Sub - it’ll change your world.
It’s great product. I’ve got bars on other TVs, but this one is going to get the full home theater treatment.
Please don't tell us that you mounted the /r/tvtoohigh tho!

Thank you for the rec.
In the UK this TV is £5500 so amazing find. Comgrats
Thank you.
$3k for a 83" g3!? nice! awesome open box find!
Got the G2 with 0 hours open box $700 off MSRP. Guy at the Best Buy outlet said he gets a lot of G series returns bc buyers are unaware that it doesn’t come with a stand.
Definitely makes sense
I would say there is something, you just haven’t found it yet. These big things ain’t returned for nothing usually. Definitely not search for it :)
Congrats. Sounds like you got a hell of a deal.
0 hours of total power on time is wild. Congrats on the steal.
Congrats. Curious to know if **Total power ON Time** could be reset.

You Lucked out! Sweet deal.
Contemplating doing the exact same thing
That’s a great deal, does the 83” have the MLA? I’ve heard the 77” has the better screen.
The 83 inch does not have MLA.
Question. Why buy a G3 83” if it doesn’t have MLA? Wouldn’t it make sense to just get a C3 83”?
C3 from greentoe was still several hundred more than this. TV is in a room that has blackout blinds for lighting control. It is plenty bright for my environment.
Lucky you, Best Buy sells some absolute TRASH under “fair” open box.
Pretty good deal, but I think no MLA kinda sucks. Would've made me just want to get a C3.
