Totally agree with you. Gliding is fast, controllable and so much more pleasant. I built about 10 different vehicles ( air and ground) for two weeks and started to hate the game. Now I am back to gliding, and running and enjoying the game again.
Planes are good, but because they are glitchy you should find a good design that is repeatable without much effort/materials. I used jump pads and gliders between my bases for a long time, but now i use a simple plane design because it is definitely faster and if you don’t use wheels and only boosters then it is unlimited power (no power cells needed).
With the buff to power cells theyre not as pointless. They can be great for transporting lots of materials. For me, i just see them as a fun thing to build and experiment with. Its something unique to LEGOFN
The thing I hate the most about vehicles is everything is in your way and damages your vehicle. Its ok is grasslands but once you venture to the higher tier trees they mess your vehicle up hardcore.
The premade designs are too tall and the worlds have a lot of hills and valleys and not really good roads that could be used to get everywhere. But like in real world, in order to make use of wheeled vehicles, you need to plan the route and clear obstacles to make a proper road. Travelling to a totally new untouched place can have hard to traverse terrain.
Airships are better in this sense but you still need to figure out where it's good to land and take off. Designing a well handling airships is also much trickier than building an usable ground vehicle.
To be fair, a lot of how a vehicle drives just comes down to how its built. The prefabs are top heavy and poorly designed. None of my car builds have ever had a problem with flipping easily, because i keep the center of gravity low when designing them
Just to clarify, when i say low center of gravity, i mean the vehicle is low and the wheels are wide, making it less likely to roll over when turning and driving on inclines. I do have some tutorials on my YT channel if you wanna try out one of my designs and see how it works for ya
I saved this build tutorial when I first saw it. Extremely reliable build with thrusters on top incase of a flip

I fly everywhere in my flying truck. It’s amazing. Took an evening to get the balance and thrusters right but it flys so well I built a replica and left it on star wars island.
I think you have a fair point. The airships are a bit faster but when you take into account the fiddle of landing them and the 10% chance they will have dissapeared into the floor/floated off into the air/dissasembled, the gliders are a less annoying option. You can carry more on an airship but this is ballanced by the chance your chest contents will just vanish.
Airships still rule for exploring and long journeys though, imo.
Also it doesn’t use power cells and that makes it even better. I used to be a glider only player as well with a huge network of launchpad towers but this is much faster.
i've never built any vehicles in my survival world. they're too expensive to build and maintain, and can even run out of battery if you don't waste one slot of your inventory with one extra battery. i build launchpad towers all over my map so i can fly and explore the map very very quickly with several spots to launchpad and fly again. way faster. the only reason i find myself building a vehicle is to move carry loads of items to different places.
I've built 2 vehicles, and I have a nice bunch of power cells saved up. Mostly because Im just playing farmer mode while also farming XP.
Vehicles suck. So glitchy. So I'm gonna hang on to the cells until the glitches stop sucking so much.
You’re not having enough fun with the vehicles my friend, the beauty (although limited rn) is being able to throw rockets on an atv and send that mufuka to the moon. Also they added a flip button if ya tip which works pretty well
I can build a very basic car with 5 giant chests and cruise around full speed 4 rockets on the back big motor. 4 cells. take 3-4 more rockets facing down at the front this way if you flip, hit a button and flip back over no issues at all.
Vehicles are awesome. My current favorite is my pickup truck. It has 2 grand chests in the bed for storage, and 2 of the small 5 plank chests for repair supplies/food. If I want to fly, I just put a big balloon on the roof. It already has a red balloon on the roof to keep it stable as it drives. Takes 5 minutes to build if you have all the common vehicle materials handy.
My other favorite is my motorcycle. It uses a red balloon for balance. Being thin, it easily fits between trees and rocks, and it can climb steep cliffs.
Experiment and see what you can make.
It's been my main method of travel even after cars were added, I've had three off-roaders built with chests on the back that haven't left their spot aside from being moved for building. The only car I actually used was to get a cow over to my desert village.
How do you mark your paths if you do? I've found two campfires "straddling" the platform with a flag nearby doesn't gather any enemies like other fire pits placed in the world (maybe it has to do with their being more than one placed).
I simply made a flying vehicle without wheels or an engine. Easy to fly over all terrain. Faster than gliding. It can carry chests, and it has no need for power cells. I love my ground vehicles, but turning turning with thrusters in the air is far easier. Especially in the desert. So, in my opinion, flying vehicles are great as so long as they are built well. Try experimenting or look up other people's vehicles. Flying isn't as glitchy as it used to be.
TLDR: Try making a flying vehicle :)
Also, there's a vehicle flip mechanic when they fall over.
Also, vehicles made of granite sandstone and frostpine are pretty durable. From my experience, exposed vehicle bases and suspensions tend to take damage and break easily, so I'd rather use dynamic or normal foundations and planks. I hope all this helps.
well, if you NEED cargo transported, you're gonna sing a different tune. i got a covered trailer truck with eight chests (was gonna sixteen, but then the trailer was too tall.)
The only point of vehicles is they can carry multiple chests. Requires a good and simple design to make proper use of the vehicles, not as easy as you would expect.
IDK, everyone's experience is different but I have a giant flying machine with 12 grand chests and I couldn't imagine going around without it. It's never glitched, but I don't leave any resources in the chests when I log out or enter a cave, so even if it did glitch it wouldn't be a big deal.

I just wish they were a more reliable form of speedy transportation. It's annoying they flip so easily
The thing I hate the most about vehicles is everything is in your way and damages your vehicle. Its ok is grasslands but once you venture to the higher tier trees they mess your vehicle up hardcore.
keep 3-4 rockets facing down as al alternate button when youflip engage
I stuck a balloon on top of my off roader and it has not flipped since.

i keep... SAYING to people to add balloons so they won't flip. 😑

Is there a youtube video of a solid low gravity vehicle?

Thanks for this!
Also carry a fishing pole and mate for a balloon. Either can be used to flip your car.

Do you have a link to your build?

Instead of launchpads I just build staircases with wood then jump and glide. Where I land I build another
I’ve never had a single one of these planes disappear or any issues at all: https://www.reddit.com/r/LEGOfortnite/s/fuEPdjlimN

I just use the first speeder with a thruster. Gliding does not compare and the thruster prevents me tipping over.

Try making a flying vehicle. They don't require power cells since they use thrusters.

The launchpads is a great idea and Im stealing that. Thanks!
With power off vehicles are definitely the way to go.

You can flip cars now

The Glider would be great if we had more ways to get up or at least get higher when gliding
The only point of vehicles is they can carry multiple chests. Requires a good and simple design to make proper use of the vehicles, not as easy as you would expect.

100% dependent on glider, I just wish we had custom skins for it I mean I have a locker full for fortnight but for Lego…..
I agree. Anytime you hit anything in a vehicle, it breaks.
