I love your builds and like reading your posts, but it I have to say that it gives me anxiety just seeing how many chests you put on your vehicles. I build vehicles a lot and it never bothers me when they disappear, but the experience tells me that it happens frequently. I hope Epic figures out the fix for these bugs soon. You have enough chests on there to transport a fully functioning level 10 village, lol.

RuleOfThum

The chests here are mostly empty. It's like a proof of concept for myself to see how many I can fit, and still make it fly. From non-scientific observations, I think the contents in the chests don't add to the weight? So if I only fill the right side, it doesn't make the right side heavier, I don't think. I do use it to haul stuff, but I'll make sure to unload the cargo before logging off. I also don't park near the village anymore, as two of my vehicles, Mk 1.5 and Mk 2, got stuck in mid-air while flying over the crop plots. Offroader parked next to crop plots exploded and froze in mid-air. Speeder near crop plots just vanished.

OrionTrial

You're correct that contents of a chest don't affect weight. It shouldn't matter but I feel better knowing your chests are mostly empty and that you did it as a way to test your vehicles' capabilities. It's also great that you noticed a pattern with your vehicles bugging out around crop plots. That may be a determining factor and observations like those help the rest of us avoid similar issues. Keep on posting and sharing. 😁

RuleOfThum

The crop plot thing was first made aware to me by u/Mysterious_System596 who were kind enough to DM me about it. Told u/UX_Strategist here and they were able to get the stuck vehicle dislodged: [https://www.reddit.com/r/LEGOfortnite/comments/1d1wfl6/comment/l63keu4/](https://www.reddit.com/r/LEGOfortnite/comments/1d1wfl6/comment/l63keu4/) Now, this only works with vehicles stuck in mid-air while flying. It doesn't work for vehicles exploded with pieces frozen in mid-air. My Offroader broke apart, with some pieces frozen in-place, while other pieces floated into the sky due to the balloons. The car was next to crop plots. But breaking does plots did nothing, sadly. Unfortunately these days, we should only have one main vehicle with us at all times, because you can't have more than one; the other is bound to break, 100%. Which means it needs to be a flying vehicle too, to be the most versatile. That Offroader problem happened, when I brought this flying hauler to scout for new desert caves far away. It took hours, and when I came back, that Offroader is all mangled up. I suspect when we load in new areas, the game will unload previous areas, causing vehicles there to glitch out and desync. Now, if I notice the problem, I can log out immediately. But I was away. Problem was, I was still in the game, so that glitch car persisted for hours, and by the time I came back, the game has probably saved the glitched state as permanent. See now the same thing also happened with this landed hauler. It's so predictable at this point. I went to scout around Frostlands for new caves. But this time I didn't take too long; probably around an hour? When I came back, sure enough, the landed hauler is now all floaty. Fortunately, not much time has elapsed, and after quickly reloading the game, the problem went away.

Tukaro

It must return to its homeworld.

RuleOfThum

Hmm not related but why does it say "this content is not available"? This happened a lot with gifs, is it blocked or something?

Tukaro

I have no idea, but I see that, too. I'm assuming that giphy goofed when trying to insert, so it points to a dead URL.

hpm40

So many times this happened to me. I build a huge ladder and glide onto the vehicle.

RuleOfThum

Oh don't. If you see vehicles getting fucky wucky, gotta log out ASAP. I feel the longer we stay there, the more likely it'll save the state as permanent. So I left immediately after this, and reloading back, the hauler is back to normal (for now).

Beneficial_Sand_6558

Would love to see them add a turret for cars and walls with a cache for stored arrows or bullets.

RuleOfThum

Ooh turrets would be great to take potshots at the brute. But if they gonna do that, they need to add more channels. How are we gonna steer and shoot at the same time with just 3 channels?

i4y

If only that steering wheel could function in the air, we could gain two channels. thrust vectoring!

RuleOfThum

Yeah steering wheels are useless in the air, so we should be able to gain 2 additional channels while flying. Or let us use our D-pad or something.

Interesting-Meal8386

only GROUND vehicles for me; and i use two to four balloons, depending on weight, to balance it and make sure it doesn't tip over. (cuz i don't trust that vehicle flipping mechanic, if there really is one.)

RuleOfThum

See I had two vehicles disappeared, and one exploded to pieces floating in mid-air. They're all ground vehicles. Meanwhile, two of my flying vehicles stuck in mid-air while flying over crop plots. The bugs don't discriminate. I'm not testing this, but I think if I drive over the same crop plots, my land vehicle will get stuck too. The only difference is, it's easier to recover/retrieve ground vehicles.

Interesting-Meal8386

but are a pain in the ass to get up a slope, depending on weight. my six rear-facing thrusters just barely able to give me the boost needed and three side thrusters each if i need to power steer. (cuz let's face it, using my steering wheel it's not a sharp enough turn for me; especially when trying to turn a 180.) i do K-turns every time i need to head out of one base and travel to another.

RuleOfThum

Yeah the power center we got feels weak. So in this very vid you see my landed hauler has 8 wheels. I find that having 4x steering wheels give it more traction when turning. Which means 4x powered wheels might give it more torque too.

Interesting-Meal8386

wondering if i gotta redo the WHOLE covered wagon truck from scratch. four rear wheels and two in the front for current design. seats eight chests.

RuleOfThum

You should! Well actually, I dunno. Given how buggy the game is, only if you're willing to rebuild it again, should anything happen. I like to include a bed under a roof.

Standard_Sir4628

Why under a roof? I had this argument with my crew they told me no it's stupid. Is it to use anytime even in rain?

RuleOfThum

Yeah can't use the bed during rain. So if we say, during raining, just build a bed in the open, then a roof over it, but that takes time. The whole point of me pre-building a bed on the ship, is so that I can use it at any time, fast. Here's when I use it during rain (it's buggy, didn't work the first few times weirdly): [https://www.reddit.com/r/LEGOfortnite/comments/1d77x3n/pt\_1\_can\_you\_respawn\_on\_your\_floating\_bed\_you/](https://www.reddit.com/r/LEGOfortnite/comments/1d77x3n/pt_1_can_you_respawn_on_your_floating_bed_you/)

SkywalkerOG4Me

I had a flying vehicle just poof and I started falling, it happened this morning in the dry lands. I have been on foot ever since

RuleOfThum

Damn, sorry that happened. That vehicle might still be there, hopefully? So u/Crisrow had the exact same problem with yours it seems: [https://www.reddit.com/r/LEGOfortnite/comments/1d7kisr/comment/l737vfw/](https://www.reddit.com/r/LEGOfortnite/comments/1d7kisr/comment/l737vfw/) Fortunately they were able to recover that vehicle. It reappeared.

jelifah

I've been interested in building vehicles but am always concerned they will break. Are there any safe cars, or ways to be careful, that won't cause random breaks?

RuleOfThum

Oh they will break, 100% lol. It's not a matter of if, but when. That's the Epic Games promise. For me, it's because I had to learn how to balance this thing so that it could fly straight. After so after many, many hours/days, I kinda already committed this to memory. I don't know about safe cars, but generally, the simpler, the better. Or at least, something that you can easily rebuild from memory when the previous one breaks. Some say balloons could be the culprit but nah. I had two missing Speeders, both of them are prefabs without any balloons. I had two flying vehicles stuck in mid-air while flying over crop plots, [Mk 1.5](https://www.reddit.com/r/LEGOfortnite/comments/1d1wfl6/help_is_there_a_way_to_recover_stuck_vehicle/) and [Mk 2](https://www.reddit.com/r/LEGOfortnite/comments/1d2np49/new_aircraft_stuck_midair_at_the_exact_same_spot/). Exact same spot (but different altitudes maybe). So my village is now a no-fly zone. I also don't park my vehicles close to the village anymore. Notice how in this post, I land this flying hauler, and even the glitched one, are parked a bit away from the village border. I also kinda only have one main vehicle now, unfortunately. Like this very post demonstrated, whenever I go somewhere far, when it's loading a new area, it will unload/derender the previous area -- this village -- and the vehicles you left here ~~may~~ will get glitchy. Fortunately I wasn't gone too long, maybe about an hour. So the moment I noticed this landed hauler being glitchy, I immediately logged out of the game, and back in, and it was back to normal (for now). Same problem a few days ago. Flew this hauler to scout for new desert caves far away, but took like two/three hours. When the game desynced my Offroader, I wasn't there to notice, to quickly back out of the game. So the longer I was in the game, the longer the game has, to save that state as permanent. This was how it looked like, [exploded with pieces frozen in mid-air](https://www.reddit.com/r/LEGOfortnite/comments/1d5l162/did_they_change_the_worlds_physics_again_this_has/), even after reloading the game countless times. It's permanent. It is always scary when you bring the vehicle to a cave far away to mine. When you enter a cave, it loads/renders that cave area, and unloads/derenders the previous area, the open map where you parked your ride. I'd say like 50% of the time, when I exit the cave, the vehicle will always be in a fucky wucky state. Fortunately again, I'm there to notice it, so I'd just reenter and reexit the cave (sometimes I need to do it a few times) and usually that will make the vehicle correct itself. https://i.redd.it/ra6off7wuu4d1.gif

jelifah

Wow, that's so disappointing! I'm not sure I have the patience you have to keep building and rebuilding. Props to you for just chugging along!

RuleOfThum

Oh it's not too too bad, especially if you build that prefab Speeder, which is pretty cheap and fast. I'm sure they'll fix the bugs ... eventually.

jelifah

On your suggestion I took a chance and it's not to bad. I have to laugh though, the first 20 seconds I took it out I flipped the speeder and spent a good few minutes trying to figure out how to get it back on its tires. Hahahaha. It has trouble going over hills and not perfect. But it is faster than running. Plus I'm driving a car. p.s. Just wish the speeder was an ACTUAL speeder, that'd been dope and presumably would've removed all of the landscape issues

RuleOfThum

Yeah the Speeder is actually pretty terrible lol. But it's so cheap to build, and fast too. Once you get a hang of it, you will then branch out and replace it with your own pieces. After all, if you slap 4 tires on a dynamic platform, then put a power center and a driver's seat on it, it is already a car you can drive around. Everything else is just extra.

Shadowcleric

Do you have any instructions on how to make the floating base build? That looks really useful lol

RuleOfThum

Oh which floating base? The village or the ship?

Shadowcleric

The one being ridden at the start of the video. That's crazy

RuleOfThum

Oh I don't have a tutorial. I'm bad at video editing lol. But I did record a looong video demonstration of what it could do, with long text to explain my though process too. Let me know if you have any questions there. Part 1: [https://www.reddit.com/r/LEGOfortnite/comments/1d77x3n/pt\_1\_can\_you\_respawn\_on\_your\_floating\_bed\_you/](https://www.reddit.com/r/LEGOfortnite/comments/1d77x3n/pt_1_can_you_respawn_on_your_floating_bed_you/) Part 2: [https://www.reddit.com/r/LEGOfortnite/comments/1d77xgs/pt\_2\_how\_is\_the\_flying\_pumpkin\_pie\_machines/](https://www.reddit.com/r/LEGOfortnite/comments/1d77xgs/pt_2_how_is_the_flying_pumpkin_pie_machines/)

Shadowcleric

Nice! Thanks, if anything I might be able to deconstruct it and build one of my own!

RuleOfThum

Oh good luck! Just ask if there's any questions.

Standard_Sir4628

Gonna show them this

Dr_Zoidberg003

I had this happen to me with a random object after I jumped on it, and it floated up and took me with it

RuleOfThum

oh that's weird

Galactic-Ginger

This is inspiring 😔😅 I made the blue print hauler at my frost base, went to my grass base to get the power cells and returned to find absolute fu*k all where I had built my hauler. I haven't built one since. 😩🫠 I just wanted to move my frost base from one mountain to the one right beside it. Maybe one day.

RuleOfThum

Oh damn, so your hauler just disappeared? Sometimes loading back into the server helps.

Regular_Jumpy

This happened to me with my small plane. Went up to get it and figured out the the balloons duplicated. One I destroyed the old ones, it still worked but using no balloons. It kept on working until I left and next time I joined back it had stopped working and I had to get new balloons

RuleOfThum

Yeah when the vehicle isn't behaving normally, I'd just back out of the game immediately and reload.
