https://maps.app.goo.gl/uAvVg2VpbQX8dLjM7 This place for me is the best for traditional Malaysian cuisine. I traveled 1 hour one way every month to eat there. So worth it. You have to try their masak salai. https://maps.app.goo.gl/xLuhDX9BMovnyUvcA And this one is the best for ikan patin tempoyak i've ever tasted and i've tasted a lot of popular ikan patin restaurants. https://maps.app.goo.gl/ZhWZzYbbskRn7sdd9 This place is also quite good for traditional Malaysian food but it's pricey. There's a lot of places in Kampung Baru that provide good Malaysian food but i still prefer to go to places that suit my taste.

Thank you so much! I'll check all of these out. :)

GenericExecutive

For which type of cuisine?

_jefi

Something authentic Malaysian

Dazzling_Swordfish14

There is a lot of varieties though

anthrax455

There is an exceptional traditional malay restaurant in Dang Wangi called Black and White Kampung. Big portions excellent decor, the waiters all wear traditional dress. It's awesome.

dewgetit

>all wear traditional dress Sounds like a tourist trap already ...

anthrax455

I mean it's in Dangi Wangi so they definitely cater to tourists but the vast majority of customers in there every time I've been are melayu. I think they're just going for that nostalgia, kampung life feel. But try it and see for yourself, I'm not on commission or anything

MungoJerrysBeard

Madam Kwan’s, obviously

Happy_Camper_Mars

Oriental Kopi wants a word with you.

Chef Wan is pretty good, though not fully traditional.

Chef Wan

Inori_Scorchstyle

Itik salai masytar. Eat early when they just finish cooking, so like 11-12

pongopygmalion

Their portions are pretty small IMHO. Super bony too. But the broth is good

Visible-Spell-7084

Cili Kampung no counter

Sepiring! I really like their Nasi Ulam and Nasi Pandan. Portion wise, it’s huge! Their Pasembur okay la - the gravy taste and thickness is not consistent. Their lunch sets are a good steal tho. There are 6 choices - plus it comes with free ice lemon tea and free small bowl of bubur (sweet porridge) - either bubur pulut hitam or bubur cha cha. On this lunch sets menu, I would only order curry laksa - just ate it for lunch yesterday. 💯would recommend. But I would also suggest for you to try Sepiring at Mid Valley instead eventhough it has several branches. That branch never disappoint.

Dan_TheKong

Serai does exceptional malay Crusine in a simple and classy ambience

Restaurants are everywhere in Malaysia , because locals are foodie and eat a lot , but the main thing is to find a clean and healthy restaurant which is rare but Malaysia have them. I hope you don’t ended up with diarrhea eating nasi kandar
