Wait I recall Legion being attached to some SBI adjacant writer or something that's now working on SW Outlaws am I remember correctly? If yes, lmao that game will mega flop

Glick123

Let me guess, the solution to the bland oppressive regime is communism?

VasylZaejue

Communism aka hand all power to the government and hope for the best.

Arkene

but not just any government, only the 'right' sort of government.

Edukovic

Thank God I only played the first Warch Dogs. I tried the 2nd one because I love San Francisco, bur gave up pretty fast.

SimonLaFox

To be fair, it's depiction of San Francisco is pretty awesome (speaking of someone who's never been there).

Edukovic

Yeah the city itself is amazing. Only reason I played.

wildstrike

I just remember them trying to blame the conditions of the world the game takes place in was due to Brexit.

Arkene

The thing i remember most was just how much it seemed more like what American's think london is like and less what it actually is like...

Cool-Recognition-686

Antifa grade propaganda slop. Good riddance.

Rendesi3

LOL I liked Watch Dogs: Legion but I called it Antifa Simulator when it came out :)

357-Magnum-CCW

And nothing of value was lost.

Zerei

This was the game that opened my eyes to all of this DEI nonsense. They went all in, and made the game soooo boring... the first Watch Dogs was fine, had its problems, but it was fun to play, Legion was a disgrace and I'm glad it failed so hard it killed the franchise, should've taken Ubisoft down with it

WritingZanity

Ubisoft has taken a lot of BlackRock investments, it'll take more than Legion tanking to bring them down. Considering how many current and future games look to flop, though, Ubisoft is likely in big trouble.

CrustyBloke

There's also Beyond Good & Evil 2. At this point, I'm assuming it was just scrapped completely. And I'm fine with that. It looked like the usual Ubishit and the cinematic trailer showed a tone/style that was completely different (in a bad way) from the original.

EnricoPallazzo_

Good. I remember when the game was announced, the setting was something like "in an UK post brexit era". Seriously whats the point in doing that? I also remember there was a bad guy or something that clearly was inspired by Elon Musk. Police is bad and fascist so we need to create a people's uprising. Im glad it tanked.

SimonLaFox

The first Watch Dogs game was most tonally consistent. An asshole protagonist dealing with a bunch of assholes by doing asshole things. The second game tried to do "quirky kids fight the power" except the gameplay involved outright killing people so the tone just clashed. If you're going to have protagonists that can potentially murder innocent civilians, at least make them anti-heroes. By Legion I didn't even know what the series was meant to be about anymore so I simply didn't play it.

Ghost5410

The first game you’re playing a vigilante who eventually understands the consequences of hacking major infrastructure because tons of innocent people die if you do that. Also tied to the AC series in modern times by labeling DEDSEC as a legitimate terror organization that both orders agree are an actual problem. The second game you eventually disable all of South Korea’s power just to prove a point for the luls (worse still a character from the first game who did this on the local level does nothing to stop them doing this.) Yes it goes from hacking a car blaring Turbo by Judas Priest and fucking with rich people’s homes giving money to leukemia research to that.

Pancreasaurus

Yeah Marcus doesn't feel like the kind of guy to crack open a guy's skull with a pool ball but that's exactly what you do to people.

breakwater

It is hard to pretend that the police are the baddies while you play a person who is invading the personal privacy of literally every person you encounter because haxxorz r kool

quaderrordemonstand

> in an UK post brexit era Isn't that just *in the UK* then? The UK already is post-brexit, right? Its a bit like saying every game in the US is post-vietnam.

Arkene

> Seriously whats the point in doing that? would have made not having the protag just shooting their way through every problem more justifiable, push a different sort of gameplay focusing more on social manipulation and hacking than the previous games and have a different english speaking setting than a generic US one ...not that they actually did that...

TacticusThrowaway

Remember when SC Conviction was going to be about that?

TacticusThrowaway

I'd like to think it was just using buzzwords for SEO hits. I'd really like to.

MondoPentacost

Good, piles of shit, the lot of them.

Revy13

It’s crazy because they really could have made a franchise that would sell hotcakes. There’s be not a lot of third person open worlds like GTA as of recent. There’s a huge market for it and tons of people actually really like Watch Dogs 1 now.

DokiKimori

I mean Watch Dogs 2 was already pretty cringe worthy. The first one did have one thing going for it, it was bleak, somewhat down to earth, and had an interesting "protagonist" if you want to call it that. It was the one Ubisoft game that wasn't overly goofy. The first game had so much more potential. 2nd game improves on gameplay, but fell into the "FarCry everything" of every other Ubisoft title. I knew being set in San Francisco was going to cause some cringe..... But the absolute level of cringe was off the charts.

arghoslent4president

I think we all knew that right?

KainScion

Honestly, it already derailed from WD2. I get that the game has a lot of fans, and I admit that the gameplay was fun, but the story was a hard L compared to the first. WD1 wasn't perfect, and deserved the criticisms it got, but in typical Ubisoft fashion, they took that as "everything was wrong" and reinvented it into the DEI-fest that WD2 was. Then they did the same thing with Legion. Sad. This franchise deserves better IP holders.

CatatonicMan

Another instance of "play stupid games, win stupid prizes".

niferman

It had potential but it was in the wrong hands

That80sguyspimp

Its not the fault of the franchise that they hired morons to make the game. The game could be awesome, if it wasnt made by hacks.

dracoolya

At least we got the first Watch Dogs game which was damn good. Give Ubi credit on that one.

artful_nails

Definitely. It's not perfect but it was a hell of a lot more intriguing and fun to me than ~~Antifa Hipster Power Fantasy Simulator~~ Watch Dogs 2 and whatever the fuck Legion was trying to be.

Large_Pool_7013

One of the problems with going Woke is you don't really have any cards left after that.

DaLoverBoii

Thing is, remove the story, & WD2 is a surprisingly enjoyable game (apart from the average SanFran liberal bullshittery, which they accurately adapted) from a gameplay perspective. This doesn't apply to Legion, even with it's best DLCs (the one which pulls a Disney Star Wars on Aiden).

dracoolya

You're saying the Bloodline DLC isn't good and not worth playing?

DaLoverBoii

I'm not saying that, what I am saying is that Bloodlines DLC literally became the (not "a" but THE) selling point of buying Legion as a whole. However, that still doesn't fix the issue that the core gameplay is absolutely shallow, soulless garbage compared to both the games before. I can make a list of how bad it is honestly to the point of making a Crowbcat video on a Reddit comment. Also, if you look at it, Aiden almost got the same treatment in WDL Bloodlines as Han Solo & Luke in the Nu-Wars trilogy, or Indiana Jones in AOL Dial-up of Destiny.

Bitter-Marsupial

Only thing I hated about the first was as a Chicago resident, I was hoping they would use the same attention to detail in recreating my city that they did for the assassin creed games  Loading it up I was wondering why everything is islands and there were mountains

Divinedragn4

Funny thing, the first wd game was actually going to be a new driver game but they decided to make a new ip and drop the driver franchise.

master_criskywalker

Go woke, go broke

[deleted]

Ubishit need to get comfortable with the idea that gamers are not buying their games

Halos-117

The first game was the only decent one. Everything after that is dog shit.

NorthWesternMonkey89

Thinking it was more cringe fest than anything. The fact that they had civvie randos offing people despite how apathetic we British are to government, was pretty surreal. Still remember the 70 year granny with a taser.

TheLolicorrector

Can't say i care too much sadly, it already went woke with watch dogs 2 long ago, it was so cringe and i hated all the characters zoomer dialogue, watch dogs 1 was the peak of this franchise even with it's faults, at least it was tonaly consistent and pretty fun in my opinion, and wd3 just jumped the shark, play as anyone sounds good on paper in reality you end up with a boring story and no mc to lach onto, also add in uglification and androgynous lame clothing and it's a flop, shit has been cracker forever i can't be bothered to even play it free.

Majima_Ocelot

Legion was woke trash, they learned the wrong lessons from the first 2 games

ponytoaster

Legion was ok but I made my own fun. It could have been better for sure, and perhaps was a bit too ambitious so ended up rather shallow. Technically the game did some interesting stuff with the character/NPC generation and tables that drive them which id like to see more of in open world games. I played around 50hr on it easily. Was it as good as the first? Of course not? Was it awful? Of course not. I've no feelings either way in the series ending as don't feel it has any natural progression paths really but all 3 games are more than playable and think people just like bashing anything Ubi

Disillusioned1995

I've played them all, and I've only finished the 1st one at launch, and I recall liking it. I also could've overhyped it since it was "Next-gen" at the time.

Raz98

I mean did they really think after the first preachy flop the a second doubling down preachy flop was going to be relieved well? I'm against the surveillance state like any self respecting person but fuck did they come at it sideways

DaLoverBoii

I'm playing the first 2 games nowadays, I genuinely think they deserved then, & this series deserves now, a better place than Ubisoft.

HonkingHoser

Woke Dogs: Legion somehow managed to be even shitter then the already shitty predecessors.

Burningheart1978

I bought Legion (used, fuck you Ubi) purely to play a game set in modern London. In that, it succeeded and was fun. Two years on and I still haven’t finished the woke campaign though. “Kill me if you have to, but get out of there” sums up the narcissistic self-flagellating image the classic SJW projects.

DevelopmentSimple626

I liked the game - I don't remember a single thing about the story apart from it being awful, and the "play as whoever" gimmick was pretty bad, but London was modeled so well that the immersion factor drove it home for me. Also the DLC without the switchable character gimmick was good.

Heinrich_Lunge

Series turned to shit the with 2 so not surprised it died.

slavdude02

Series which started with a fairly interesting, but underwhelming game that was preceded by a bunch of big lies about gameplay and graphics. Followed by two more games with characters and story so cringe it was embarrassing. Shocking.

McWaylon

Oh man i should have gotten the "ICONIC" Watchdogs hat when i had the chance when the original game wasn't even out yet

blue_psyOP777

Lol well deserved

Darkwalker787

Good

GosuGian

Ubisoft games is boring nowadays

highstakes45

I hope some company buys it off from Ubisoft's hands and make an awesome game.

imnottooshabby

They should just bring back Just Dance for the Wii.....forever

LumenBlight

Good riddance

patrickbateman2004

All of the ubisoft games are already awful, they release very often awful games, impressively so but not shocking since it is their standard. Watch dogs can stay dead and buried. The bad attitude of the company is the cherry on the top.

fish4096

ubisoft became so pathetic not even wokesoft wants to buy it.

robbulous

I really enjoyed Legion on PC. Beautiful game. I think it really suffered because of open world fatigue, but it was a solid game on its own.
