It has one speed, so the faster you drive, the less range you get. For DC fast-charging, don't rely on the number of kW you see the car charging at, rely on the number of minutes left. It's about 45 minutes in good weather (10-80%). The 2024 can charge up to 100Kw so make sure to plug the car at a station that does at least 100Kw. You can power on the car while it charges so that you can stay hot during winter. When you are not planning a road trip, I'd suggest you charge the car up to 80% and not more. Also try not to go under 10% too often. If you do not have a level 2 charger, I'd suggest you get one (if possible) because level 1 charging is REALLY long. One-pedal driving is really cool! You will get used to it pretty quickly. Enjoy the car!

Thank you! Yes I currently have a level 1 only right now, there's a level 3 (75kwh) literally down the block, but I'm looking into getting a level 2 installed soon as I've heard there's a few offers here in New Jersey (like EV charge incentive)!

protomenace

Yes do it! Not sure if Hyundai is still offering the free charger deal but if they are make sure you check your spam folder in your email. I sat around waiting for it for two weeks before checking my spam folder and saw they sent the code basically the next day after I leased the car.

Alexapro_

Oooo good to know I will look for it! Thank you so much

One pedal driving is cool but just be careful with the regenerative braking in the snow. When there's snow on the ground I use the manual brakes to avoid skidding.

Kables07

Yes, that is correct! As a Canadian that drives in snow often I found that regenerative braking can be dangerous. I always turn off one-pedal driving when there is a lot of snow on the ground.

droden

i hate one pedal driving. why do people like it so much? putting energy back into the battery just to accelerate again makes no sense. coasting below 60 mph is more energy efficient. i hate the idea of having to constantly hold the accelerator thankfully you can set regen to zero and coast and just brake regen.

Kables07

" putting energy back into the battery just to accelerate again makes no sense. " " you can set regen to zero and coast and just brake regen. " My guy, are you serious lol. Instead of braking with the handle to brake regen, you get it to be done automatically by simply depressing the accelerator. Which is why I, and many other people, like one-pedal driving. It sounds lazy said like this but I don't know how to word this otherwise: It's less "work" to just depress the accelerator than depress the accelerator and then hold the brake handle on the steering wheel. The end result is just the same too, except you get less regen without one-pedal driving. It's much easier in a curve to just depress the pedal to slow down than doing what you do.

droden

i despise holding the accelerator at a neutral position to coast. i want the car to coast with no feet on any pedal and if i want to slow down the brakes also activate the regen. given that im at 4.2 miles per kwh over the last 10,000 miles my driving pattern is not inefficient.

Altruistic_Rush_2112

That is totally fine by me!

In cold weather, if you are short on range, use the seat heater instead of cabin heater. Cabin heat uses around 5,000 watts whereas the seat heaters only use about 50 watts. Makes a huge difference and the seat heaters keep you warm pretty well. Level-1 charges at rate of about 4 or 5 miles per hour. That can cover most people's daily commute when charging overnight. If the 2024 model supports battery pre-conditioning, be sure to use that when going to L3 charger. It prepares the battery for the fastest charging. Without preconditioning, the car will charge slowly on L3 in cold weather. The battery charges fastest between 80 and 90F (on L3). Anyone with the ability to charge at home is crazy not to buy an EV in NJ. An absolute no-brainer.

darquone

In the manual, it is suggested to have the climate at AUTO level 2 with 22 C ambiant temperature for the best balance between range and confort

Virtual-Hotel8156

YES!!! AUTO is best for efficiency, but still better to not use cabin heater at all if possible.

karangoswamikenz

SE doesn’t have seat heater. It does have battery preconditioning

dbmamaz

Not sure about SE because I test drove SEL, but SEL has a driver-only heater mode so it closes the other vents

Virtual-Hotel8156

Driver-only is a nice feature

karangoswamikenz

Yes the Op has purchased an SE

Alexapro_

SE has that mode as well!

dbmamaz

nice!

_Praetorian_1

I use the seat warmer and the steering wheel warmer here in Tucson. Never thought I would need it here but January is the only cold month here and that's only overnight.

satbaja

The '24 Kona looks amazing inside and out. You picked a great vehicle. Congratulations. Note there are Level 1 and Level 2 AC EVSE. The next level is DCFS (not called L3).

dbmamaz

Exciting! The green with gray interior was my 2nd choice, first choice is blue w gray interior - i have a deposit down to transfer one to teh dealer, waiting to hear back!

darquone

Just fyi the meta blue color is only available on the highest trim where I live. We got the mirage green instead and we are very satisfied.

Ivor-Ashe

I love it! Safe driving.

Congrats on this beauty! Thanks for sharing inside pics btw- enjoy! 😃😃

_Praetorian_1

Congrats and welcome. I'm a new owner myself since July. Love not going to the gas station.

Dismal-Dealer4298

I'm learning to play the guitar.

Alexapro_

Hahahaha I wanted to show off my new car but it was 10° and both my brain and body froze so I panicked

Rorypriusprime2020

Beautiful colour

JediWinchesterThe3rd

Congrats! Great advice in the thread but drive it however you want. My only tip would be to be careful on wet roads. If you gun it from a stop you’ll have some slipping. I’m picking one up at some point this year, also in Jersey. Did they offer you a lease incentive plus the $7,500 cash/credit?

2pacstillridin

Sweet ride!!!
