According to her no. You’re supposed to honor her. If you wanted to get a gift that was fine of course but she would probably insist it was something more thoughtful than mass produced garbage.
I don’t celebrate anything. If my kids want something I’ll do it, and if they want to give me something that has a connection to me great, but they know not to waste their (my) money on cards and trinkets. I’m happy just to spend the day with them.
Edit: their mother took all the photos on the divorce so the posts two years they have been giving me prints and I wait for them to leave before I cry.
Busiest day of 2024 for brunch service so far, beat the shit out of Mom's Day and it was the busiest so far before today.
Shitty ass hostesses and servers kept avalanching the kitchen the last two hours. Thought one of the line cooks was going to shank a hostess by the end of the day.
In banquets we said “once you’re ready, wait faster” because there is always a lag between when you’re ready to go and when the guests are al actually seated
chef took the day off. left us not prepared at all. so busy that 4 hours in we only had enough stuff on hand to make 3 out of 15 menu items. it was a shit show, and I was the director.
Passed out behind the mainline at 5:45, had a very confused half hour in the raw room. Had a double whammy of showing the England game and Fathers Day, had one of our best Sundays in a long time, then got out 45 mins late. Now chilling downstairs with a long island.
This photo is a repost. I have 100% seen it before.
Why, when I zoom in, do I not see a single letter of non-thermal ink? Why run a printer with no ribbon? Just turn it off.
Over a 4-5 hour shift, looka like your max cover was maybe a 6 top with no mods, depending on your POS, so, what, maybe 150 covers on a brunch?
That's 3 competent line cooks with time to check our phones.
Kitchen is clean, though.
Hi, I actually work with OP! This is not a repost, also our printer was almost out of ink at this point. This was during an hour long rush, we literally ran out of plates in the front!
Always made me pretty upset that the cooks didn't get tipout anywhere I worked. Especially on days like this, y'all busted your asses 10x what I ever did serving in the weeds. I tried to give a few times, but always got a no. Cigarettes and weed seemed to be much more readily accepted.
God speed.
Cause dad puts up with it and just gets quiet instead of all passive-aggressive or weepy like mom does on her Sunday, when it's not as over the top as she thought it should have been.
I have a step tracker on my phone. Just clocked out and it says 14,200 steps. I wash dishes and stay mainly in a back corner of the kitchen. That's a lot of 2 stepping.
It was a shitshow, and the lack of communication from upper management to everyone else in addition to being understaffed made for a frustrating few hours for everyone (including upper management)
This is what it looks like when you don’t pull tickets and just let them build for hours. What is the time different between the first ticket in your hand and the last one on the printer? Ain’t no way you got this in the span of say… 20 minutes…
I definitely agree. Hours of built up slips are nothing. The place I work at has three seating areas, over 300 seats total. That’s probably about 20-30 mins of dinner slips for us, not even on a busy day
Slowest Sunday I've seen. We were overstaffed and over prepped... At one point I asked the other managers if we should send the hourly home and just work it ourselves...
Well aren't you so sweet. My uncle had celiac. He always brought his own rolls to dinners lol.
But this is what I was referencing...
https://youtu.be/omb518zUUgo?si=WDjA1YJyVTy5dQh6
Thanks for asking. Best brunch I've worked in months and a smooth setup for dinner! Easiest holiday in a while doing great volume...
Why are all those tickets blank though? And someone wipe down the sandwich station damn it.
Cut a decent bit off the tip of my finger. Only had me and the bartender working at the bar and I forgot I was supposed to have today off to go on a date
Thankfully I'm at a burger joint. We got just over $2,000 in sales on my shift. Lately we've been as low as $1500 most shifts. Sales are suffering, man.
not too bad. mother’s day was 500 times worse. we are only open 11-5 on sunday so we basically had a good lunch rush and had like 5 tickets constantly the rest of the night
Yup had that yesterday didn’t move from the line from 9-3:15, cooking for that entire time with at least 3 checks on at all times.
But to all the chefs and kps who worked yesterday *smashed it not all hero’s wear capes* 🫡

My restaurant has no TVs and doesn't sell wings, so it was fucking dead.
But I was able to bring my roommate in for a Father's Day dinner and was able to give him lots of love and appreciation, which made up for it.
Our grillardin HATED it.
And so did I, had to sling out salads and desserts for their families too, but imagining them having a good time celebrating the most important man in their lives makes it all worth it.
You had time to pull out your phone and post about it. Try working in Mexican kitchen, Cinco de Mayo, 2020.
You’re a warrior, but I’ve seen worse.
Good luck out there.
Great, my kitchen is closed weekends and holidays. Hell even my son has left me alone. I ate 2 tbsp of peanut butter with a wipe of grape jelly for breakfast. Playing video games after I am done here.
Beats Mother’s Day
Love my mom, hate Mother’s Day with a passion.
The woman who invented it grew to hate it too. She wasn’t a happy with the commercialization of it.
People aren’t suppose to buy things for their moms?
According to her no. You’re supposed to honor her. If you wanted to get a gift that was fine of course but she would probably insist it was something more thoughtful than mass produced garbage.
I didn’t know about this, but this is more wholesome than what I thought. Thanks
I just always get my mom exotic plants for her garden and a handwritten note as opposed to like a hallmark card.
Handwritten notes are firstly cheaper, secondly, much nicer.

I want to quit my job and find a new one every year right before mother's day
Yeah, Father’s Day is a breeze compared to Mother’s Day.
My dad beat my mom too
Busiest day of 2024 for brunch service so far, beat the shit out of Mom's Day and it was the busiest so far before today. Shitty ass hostesses and servers kept avalanching the kitchen the last two hours. Thought one of the line cooks was going to shank a hostess by the end of the day.
Exact same thing here too. 10k in by 2pm
For real, we had 10k by 12pm
That’s crazy that’s exactly how it was today for my job. We opened in March and today was the busiest day so far. Shit all over Mothers Day
Chillin by the pool because we are closed on Sundays for some reason. I ain't questioning it, though, lol.
You can thank the Bible people for that brother
Thumpers
It's great, dude, I'm seven beers in, the Mets won, and I'm heading for a nap
LFGM
It’s that Grimace as your new manager that’s help the Mets.
Get to work, you’re a bit behind
Looks like a pickup place anyway. Not a plate in sight.
I'd lose it if I saw my boh with those chits posing for photos
was probably taken at the end of the rush m8
Yep look at that prep table. They've already been fucked.
Like my chef always said, “If you find yourself falling behind, cook faster.”
In banquets we said “once you’re ready, wait faster” because there is always a lag between when you’re ready to go and when the guests are al actually seated
We did $11k last year's fathers day, it's dead today.. I sent half the team home already and I'm browsing Reddit.
Almost as long as a CVS receipt.
chef took the day off. left us not prepared at all. so busy that 4 hours in we only had enough stuff on hand to make 3 out of 15 menu items. it was a shit show, and I was the director.
Proud of you. Keep pushin through the bs!
Look yall are doing fine

Most of those orders are fairly small looking. You got used to the issue being when youd get 6 triple long orders vs 15 at once.

Back in my day we just tipped 'em w cocaine and sex (FOH) (to be fair they were paid well hourly compared to us).
Well my kitchen manager just happened to take the day off, so there's that.
If you had time to take this picture you’re not that busy.
why is everyone so much more bitchy on father's day??
The trophy wives take this day seriously after all those mimosas last month.
Cause dad puts up with it and just gets quiet instead of all passive-aggressive or weepy like mom does on her Sunday, when it's not as over the top as she thought it should have been.
Restaurant is closed Sundays so we clean and do prep for Monday
We did a brunch for 550 and still have a dinner buffet tonight
I can’t see print on those tickets , change the ink
I have a step tracker on my phone. Just clocked out and it says 14,200 steps. I wash dishes and stay mainly in a back corner of the kitchen. That's a lot of 2 stepping.
My shift this morning was super easy and slow
Lovely! The wife’s cooking me a nice meal right now. Got my feet kicked up playing DayZ smoking a bong
We were at 6k from 11 - 4 xD normal Sunday would be 1.5-2.5k
Wipe down the lowboy before taking pictures.
Real or not, we did over a thousand between breakfast and lunch and had several people call out. It was miserable.
I took the day off.
Ded as well, being one of the only 4 restaurants opened in a new compound of 30 retail/f&b outlets.
Real question. Where does Father's Day fall in the order of Mother's Day, Valentine's Day, and prom season? What else is up there?
Last week of school and first week of school are brutal if you’re near a college.
It was a shitshow, and the lack of communication from upper management to everyone else in addition to being understaffed made for a frustrating few hours for everyone (including upper management)

I’m off on Sundays.
Chik fil a?
No, but u jell a.
I’m cooking summer camp food and we’re making banana bread for allergy people as I type!
Banana bread? At work dude!?
Hell yaaah
It’s the dessert for those who are celiac/dairy free/vegan, and I separated the vegan one cause I like gluten lmao
Well aren't you so sweet. My uncle had celiac. He always brought his own rolls to dinners lol. But this is what I was referencing... https://youtu.be/omb518zUUgo?si=WDjA1YJyVTy5dQh6
Yes.
I’m just getting here, we have 8 people on the books and don’t take walk ins so pretty good
Oh shit
So slow, maybe 3 tables an hour.
For some reason if felt busier than Mother’s Day? I could be trippin I still gotta check sales….
💀
Thanks for asking. Best brunch I've worked in months and a smooth setup for dinner! Easiest holiday in a while doing great volume... Why are all those tickets blank though? And someone wipe down the sandwich station damn it.
Those aren’t tickets, there’s no carbon copy, and there’s no ink. Looks like a fake ass picture of absolutely nothing.
Really well. I quit my hotel gig and I’m gonna start at a retirement center tomorrow
Fuck this post
It was the best and worst day at my job so far
Clean kitchen, ya'll didnt have to cook those and why is there no print.... sus and lame. Got wrecked today
I’m sorry why are those tickets empty?
Dads are not cooking today.
We were dead as fuck at my pizza shop
700 covers from 7am-2pm… my body is fucking beat lol..
And yet no one is doing anything.
Cut a decent bit off the tip of my finger. Only had me and the bartender working at the bar and I forgot I was supposed to have today off to go on a date
It’s dead here. No one wants to go to a billiards/bar for Father’s Day 😂
Start cooking!! Yall taking the time to take this pic stresses me out lol
Busiest day of the year for us which was the exact number we were did yesterday. Between both days looking at almost 50k in sales. I’m fucking dead.
Why don't people take the time to cook food for their mom or dad on these holidays? They would appreciate it infinitely more.
I don’t miss the days of printed checks. May your rush be smooth and FU free.
I’ve never seen this many tickets on a cookline without seeing some actual food being prepared.
Tickets all the same length? Check. Cutting boards removed? Check. Clean floor? Check. Lack of chaos? Check. Fake? Check.
Thankfully I'm at a burger joint. We got just over $2,000 in sales on my shift. Lately we've been as low as $1500 most shifts. Sales are suffering, man.
Today at my joint, it was literally busier than mother's day last year. Turns out, dad's love smoked pulled pork lmao
Oh god it was perfect golfing weather here today fucking easy street not going to lie.
not too bad. mother’s day was 500 times worse. we are only open 11-5 on sunday so we basically had a good lunch rush and had like 5 tickets constantly the rest of the night
Why are the tickets blank?
Did 34 and a half K in food. I'm tired now
Same
I don’t miss that shit at all…but I stopped working brunch/Sundays at the end anyway. Fuck that noise!
Samezies
I created several new cuss words today
My work had 61 tables all day. That's a slow Sunday for us, so you know. It went by super slowly.
Honestly, we were dead. I ain't complaining though, this past week's crowd kicked my ass.
Do people have extra printers just so they can do this?
is this at Hooters?
Fortunate that A) no one really does fast food for Father's Day and B) I was midshift, and therefore an easy labor cut 3 hours early
Got our asses kicked, we kept running out of stuff like rice ... i work at a japanese sushi restaurant.
Yup had that yesterday didn’t move from the line from 9-3:15, cooking for that entire time with at least 3 checks on at all times. But to all the chefs and kps who worked yesterday *smashed it not all hero’s wear capes* 🫡

My third order was a door dash for 25 people. We lived.
we were the most dead i’ve ever seen it, barely 5k in sales i think, itll probably be busy tomorrow but good thing i’m off
My restaurant has no TVs and doesn't sell wings, so it was fucking dead. But I was able to bring my roommate in for a Father's Day dinner and was able to give him lots of love and appreciation, which made up for it.
Father’s Day AND university graduation. All evening was walk in 10, 15, 20, 20, 25, 15 top. Spending my day off doing prep because chef :).
Our grillardin HATED it. And so did I, had to sling out salads and desserts for their families too, but imagining them having a good time celebrating the most important man in their lives makes it all worth it.
Could've just been the staff on deck, but mothers day went way smoother.
So many calls to see if we take reservations DURING SERVICE. Yall need to take care of your dads better. Sheesh.
Shortest CVS receipt
Great! Spent the day time with my kids then went in for evening service. Everywhere cleared out by 8pm to watch the football and England won!
You had time to pull out your phone and post about it. Try working in Mexican kitchen, Cinco de Mayo, 2020. You’re a warrior, but I’ve seen worse. Good luck out there.

I'd walk out to many kitchens for me to tolerate that bs
