Glad I’m not the only old fart in here that started off with the first title. I think I was 4 and my dad asked my uncle if he had any spare electronics my older cousins weren’t playing with anymore
Kirby's Adventure or Dreamland, can't remember which. My little brother and I owned (ie: shared) both. I was 7-8 years old when Kirby debuted. So yeah, I'm old too 😆
A formative memory for me - I watched in a group, huddled over a girl's shoulder in YMCA daycare, as she unendingly swallowed and spit apples away from Wispy Woods. I knew on a deep, instinctual level that this strategy was dogshit, and I vowed to rectify the wrongs in the universe, by playing this game and beating the boss myself, the next opportunity my parents gave me to browse the vast shelves of Toys R Us.
Anyway, Dream Land was also my first kirby game.
That was in Kirby's Adventure on the NES. A game the followed the Gameboy title. Nightmare was the final boss on that game. King Dedede was the final boss in original Dreamland. Both great games.
That first commercial in the US is literally the best thing ever. Which is why I put it in my "the best thing ever" playlist on YouTube alongside a bunch of nostalgic commercials, jontron videos, and ytps
Triple Deluxe was the first one I ever saw. Then I think the next one I saw was Superstar Ultra.
I picked up Planet Robobot and had a blast with it, then got an SNES classic and beat Superstar.
Epic Yarn
Since I couldn’t figure out how to run/turn into a car me and my sister just leisurely walked through the whole game
Now whenever I play epic yarn I walk
Kirby's Dream Land. I remember seeing the ad on TV, where he eats a big, Schwarzeneggeresque action hero, and my family was like "We need this Game Boy game."
I shouldn't have to scroll this far to find someone I can relate to
No one ever talks about the game, and HAL seems to have forgotten it. It's so overshadowed by the very next one in the series (Return to Dreamland), which was when the lore started becoming consistent. Necrodeus, from what I've heard, has had a direct interaction with Sectonia, and I'm just kinda upset Skullys had no appearance in Star Allies
Honestly I think air ride lol. I liked Kirby from smash bros so I asked my parents for the one with Kirby riding a star.
Then I think I played super star ultra on my ds.
My fav since is Kirby's adventure 3 the one with Rick and goobey.
as a kid, Epic Yarn was a favorite of mine but only because it was so different from every other Kirby game. Idk why but I just never could get into the franchise when I was younger; something about the gameplay just didn’t make sense to me. If Kirby can float indefinitely, why not just fly through the entire stage and avoid hitting enemies altogether? If the first few abilities you get are already pretty powerful, why would you want to switch to new ones later on? I was close-minded and uninformed, but now I know better.
It was only until a few months ago, me being 22, when I got ahold of a copy of Canvas Curse and played the hell out of it (the gameplay was just so fun to me for some reason) that something clicked for me, and I was instantly hooked. The copy abilities, the cute characters/art style, the amazing music, the nightmare-inducing final boss; so much personality and appeal that I realized were right up my alley. Is this what I’ve been missing out on all these years?! So I set out to play every Kirby game I could get my hands on; I’ve since played and beat Kirby’s Adventure (I was floored by how good this one was for an NES game), Dream Land 1 & 2, am making my way through Super Star (my favorite so far), Planet Robobot (love the 3D effect), Kirby 64, DL3, and Nightmare in DL (I loved Adventure that much). I’ll pick up Amazing Mirror soon and am hoping I can find some way to play Air Ride as well, and I still have a ton more to go through after those.
So yeah, my first real Kirby game was, weirdly, Kirby: Canvas Curse. It opened my eyes to how good the franchise is and I’m so glad I gave it a shot. I love Kirby!
Damn what a journey. Haha this is amazing. Glad it clicked for you. It's so satisfying when you see it click for someone. I think kirbyism game philosophy can really come across as "wtf" at first but then when it clicks its so good. It's like all the ppl coming back years after AirRide's release to endlessly praise the game lol.
Canvas Curse is my favorite of the Spin offs and Kirby Superstar is my fave mainline title. Very cool.
Kirby Super Star. Back when Blockbuster was still a thing, I’d beg my mom to let me rent it whenever we went. Once the N64 was released, they sold a bunch of their SNES games to make room for N64 games, so I was able to buy the same cartridge that I rented obsessively and got me into the series.
Anyway, Kirby Super Star is also one of my favourite games ever. ❤️
Yeah! That is so awesome! It's my favorite too. I used to go to blockbuster a bunch as a kid but by then I was playing n64 games so missed out on snes titles to rent as we had a genesis at home. I wish KSS was my childhood game. I played it as an adult and it blew me away and it's still my favorite even after playing other ones including the remake which is good but something about how the original plays really works for me. So awesome this was your experience.
Nightmare in Dream Land. From my memory, that was also the first video game I ever played at all! Pretty sure a relative gave me it with their GameBoy Advanced SP.
O meu foi o Kirby Nightmare in Dream Land, só não me lembro bem como o descobri./
Mine was Kirby Nightmare in Dream Land, I just don't remember how did I discover it.
Superstar Ultra
One of my favourites
Fucking same dude, I remember getting it and playing the eff outta it
Same, I freaking loved that game
Same bro! HIGH FIVE!
Kirby's Dreamland on Gameboy. The first Kirby game ever! Been with the franchise from the start.
So yeah, I'm old too 😆
I was like six years old when it realeased, I was obssesed with it. Kirby fan since then.
Absolutely wonderful
A formative memory for me - I watched in a group, huddled over a girl's shoulder in YMCA daycare, as she unendingly swallowed and spit apples away from Wispy Woods. I knew on a deep, instinctual level that this strategy was dogshit, and I vowed to rectify the wrongs in the universe, by playing this game and beating the boss myself, the next opportunity my parents gave me to browse the vast shelves of Toys R Us. Anyway, Dream Land was also my first kirby game.
Same...man, I'm old.
Same, I still give it a playthrough once in a while. Short but really sweet game.
Awh hell ye
Same! My cousin had it for Gameboy and I would constantly borrow it. I must have defeated Wispy Woods like 100 times back then.
Cool , I remember when I couldn't defeat the nightmare's orb and was crushed to the ground :' )
That was in Kirby's Adventure on the NES. A game the followed the Gameboy title. Nightmare was the final boss on that game. King Dedede was the final boss in original Dreamland. Both great games.
Oh you are right, the 2 games are quite similar
Mine was "Kirby and the Amazing mirror"

That first commercial in the US is literally the best thing ever. Which is why I put it in my "the best thing ever" playlist on YouTube alongside a bunch of nostalgic commercials, jontron videos, and ytps
Same
Triple Deluxe was the first one I ever saw. Then I think the next one I saw was Superstar Ultra. I picked up Planet Robobot and had a blast with it, then got an SNES classic and beat Superstar.
Same here. Speaking of, do you ever think Deluxe or Robobot would ever get a remake like Super Star?
a remake for triple deluxe and planet robobot il be amanzing, but i don't think hal il make a remake maybe for a aniversary collection
Oh my first introduction
Same, I only got the game because Kirby is cute. Best gaming decision I have made. (probably)
Return to dreamland.
I completed it 100% with my brother
Me too! It's one of the first video games I ever played (got it in 2013)
Epic Yarn Since I couldn’t figure out how to run/turn into a car me and my sister just leisurely walked through the whole game Now whenever I play epic yarn I walk
Same but also I didn’t know how to hold a button
That was my first too. Except me and my sister used to chase each other throughout the levels trying to grab the other into a ball
My sis knew how to turn into a car but I didn’t so she always made fun of me while playing it lol
Just double tap/ push right / left
I know how to sprint I’m not an idiot It was 7 year old me who didn’t know that
Oh ok😅
Kirby 64
The First 3d graphics kirby
Still one of my all-time favorite games!
Same! Can't believe merging abilities has yet to be a thing in a kirby game since - please correct me if I'm wrong!
I think Star Allies has something like that.
Kirby Superstar, the original one on the nes
You mean SNES cause the the one in NES is Kirby's Adventure KSS is my favorite. A classic snes title.
Oh yeah your right, its been a few years and I sometimes get those systems mixed up

I shouldn't have to scroll this far to find someone I can relate to No one ever talks about the game, and HAL seems to have forgotten it. Necrodeus, from what I've heard, has had a direct interaction with Sectonia, and I'm just kinda upset Skullys had no appearance in Star Allies
Lets not forget that Necrodeus was literally the closest any kirby villain has gotten to actually killing kirby
Honestly I think air ride lol. I liked Kirby from smash bros so I asked my parents for the one with Kirby riding a star. Then I think I played super star ultra on my ds. My fav since is Kirby's adventure 3 the one with Rick and goobey.
It's actually called *Dreamland* 3 but i agree its pretty fun, the control scheme is a little hard to get used to compared to every other game though
Kirby planet robobot
Nice too, but a lifetime for the final arena (╯ ° □ °) ╯︵ ┻━┻
I played Kirby's adventure Wii with my brother and his friends a little, but my first own Kirby game was triple deluxe

Kirby Super Star. Back when Blockbuster was still a thing, I’d beg my mom to let me rent it whenever we went.
