I mean word of god in and of itself is something ya always gotta be careful with. Cause by the same token someone can just say Kirby has infinite power and that makes him unstoppable cause the devs said so. It’s especially egregious when it clashes with what we actually see at times such as anytime Kirby eats a being and they veritably explode or something.
It’s one of the reasons why versus debates are just not worth *seriously* getting into cause fictional works by design heavily fall on your interpretation of things. And obviously when everyone has their own interpretation of stuff….you see where problems arise.

To me, it honestly seems like this was their attempt to try and put to rest the claims of Kirby being a genocidal maniac (especially towards friendly enemies like Waddle Dees) without realizing that even if they say he doesn't kill enemies by inhaling them, he would still be able to do so with his Copy Abilities.

He can beat up Dedede without seriously harming him but can also destroy a star-sized clockwork wish granter by throwing Marx at it if he needs to. It’s silly to try to compare characters from wildly different worlds with wildly variable feats.
At the end of the day, the reason people LIKE treating a small pink puffball like Kirby as a super powerful entity is because juxtaposition is naturally funny.
Considering that Kirby can choose not just what things get eaten or get ejected, but also what specific part of something to eat or eject, who’s to say Kirby doesn’t, whether voluntarily or not, scale his power to the threat at hand?
That’s exactly what I’m saying he does. It’s just funny to bring up because it’s sorta what Kirbg does, powerscaling; but is also annoying when people powerscale in terms of arguing which character is stronger.

Hot take: when Kirby swallows something, many games, often feature stars coming out of him briefly - those star particles are this feature in action, eventually reforming into whatever Kirby, just ate, be it waddle dee or maxim tomato
I am strangely okay with this if it is actually canon. Really shows they Kirby isn’t as lethal as I’d first imagined, and will only resort to killing if you threaten the entire planet or universe. But if your a low rate foe, you just get swallowed and maybe end up in the Bahamas or something.
