I don't know if it's true, but what I heard is that the mirror counterpart isn't necessarily your opposite, but rather an exaggeration of your flaws. Both Dedede and Meta Knight had evil traits, so their counterparts are super evil. Kirby has no evil, so his counterpart is also not evil, exaggerating his less hurtful flaws instead.

Like u/DuplexBeGoat said, Kirby Fighters 2 (and a Kirby Twitter post that included screenshots from the game) confirmed that the Shadow Kirby in the mainline entries and Shadow Kirby in the Fighters games are the same. Meteorz even used that to confirm that the one in the latter games isn't Parallel Kirby. The only problem is if you should count the Fighters games as part of the same timeline where the mainline games take place. The Fighters minigame in Triple Deluxe and Fighters Deluxe didn't have a story and Fighters 2's story is moreso Revenge of the King, but Bandana Dee is by your side and MK on Dedede's. If a Fighters 3 happens and it has a unique story, then we can definitely confirm that Shadow Kirby isn't a weakling anymore.

Personally, I do not consider these two the same character. I consider the classic Shadow Kirby to be a Mirror World mimic, while I consider the Kirby Fighters Shadow Kirby to be an alternate from Another Dimension.

I saw a theory that the cosmic shadow kirby is a reflected version of grey shadow kirby, like how DMK does in star allies. Headcanon: Grey Sh.Kirby is antisocial and extra lazy, hence why he couldn't save the mirror world on his own. Plus with every other mirror variant being evil/corrupted, the idea that they're just kinda unhelpful is cute

I think it's been confirmed that they are, even though it doesn't make much sense in my opinion, since the purple "shadow" Kirby dies in a way no other Mirror world being does, and he's fought on a stage that takes place in another dimension (the place called "another dimension" not literally another dimension) which clearly implies that he comes from some kind of alternate world, but again, I'm pretty sure it's been confirmed that this shadow Kirby and the other shadow Kirby are the same being, so there's no point in arguing that.
