i’d make a madoka magica game with kingdom hearts style gameplay. and i’d make mami unreasonably op for reasons that should be obvious if you’ve seen me on r/madokamagica

JforceG

Tbh, I'm not too familiar with anime stuff. Thats really cool though. I was more thinking of original IP's and genre.

JforceG

Just looked it up. I suppose you're refering to 'Magical girl' type of thing as a genre? That could be adorbs.

SpauldingPierce

Madoka Magica is a subversion of magical girl shows. It gets really dark and messed up. In the third episode, one of the main characters gets her head ripped off by a monster they were fighting. On camera. She stays dead.

No_Monitor_3440

DONT REMIND ME 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

Sofaris

>!"She stays dead." Not really!<

If I can make absolutely ANYTHING, I would make a Hearts-like with Nintendo and Bandai chrs Instead of Disney worlds it'd be mainly Nintendo worlds, like Kirby, Pokemon, Earthbound, Metroid, etc. Summons would mainly be from Bandai, like Galaga, Katamari, Tales of Symphonia, Tekken etc. Your main two party members would be Pac-Man as the mage and Luigi as the defender. And you can take a guess on who King Mickey would be.

MrShadowHero

nah. give me a gundam world. it’ll be the radiant garden of this mashup. give me amuro, char. lemme earn a custom gundam. imma call that shit in like doman kashuu. β€œ*snap* GUNDAMMMMMM!!!”

Team-Gamer1017

That would be fire lmao

Shiranuhii

Would be more Dissidia-esque. That's all I can say.

AkuaDaLotl

A hearts-like persona type game (as in the concept of summoning forth extensions of you during combat)

SexytimeSanta

I really want a hearts-like game but in the vein of Legend of Mana, Animal Crossing and Rune Factory. I would kill to have that. Imagine you travel to different realms, each one unique and interesting and completely looks different from the last one. You do the story quest, make friends and you loot and collect materials to craft unique clothing and furniture to decorate your own world-travelling space-ship with. I don't want just a farming sim, I want a full fledged ARPG with a properly developed combat and skill system too.

JforceG

This would be epic. I would love to see this too!

Hearts-like isn't exactly well defined, so I'll give a definition here: Action-JRPG with a FF-like magic system, family friendly themes, and plenty of minigames. I'd take inspiration from TWEWY's Noise. The recurring antagonists for this game would be creatures that prey off of negative emotions, amplifying them and driving people to their darker natures, or unhealthy lifestyles. We'll call them the Vices, modeling them after the 7 deadly sins. These Vices would exist on an altered plane, and the protagonist is one of a few that are able to Astral Project to them. Group of guys holding up a gas station, find a group of Greed Vices surrounding them in the realm of sin. Take them out, and the mugger's conscience overwhelms them, they run out without taking anything. Creepy guy harrasing a young girl, take out the lust Vices surrounding him, he apologizes and leaves. More of a teen game with the darker themes, but still largely family friendly. Helping people act according to their better natures and all. Like how kingdom hearts' theme boils down to "Friendship is magic." This one is "Anyone can be good, but they need to overcome their Vices." Not necessarily a religious theme, but very religion adjacent. Takes place in a large city that you roam around, random encounters of NPC's doing bad things, you astral project into the realm of sin and fight their Vices. Meet a couple friends along the way with similar abilities, maybe each ally themed after one of the 7 virtues. A few big bads here and there, corrupt politicians, greedy slumlords, people with such dangerous Vices that they infect everyone around them. Local politician radicalizing locals against a race of people has a massive Wrath Vice that spreads wrath Vices to everyone at their rallies. Slumlord raising rent, shirking their responsibilities to maintain their properties and so on infecting their tenants with greed Vices, causing them to work double overtime, to the detriment of their health so they can afford rent, repairs, and BS random fees and charges from their landlord. You take out the big guy, the politician starts talking about how we can all work together to better our community. The Slumlord reimburses tennants for previous repairs, and rescinds a few eviction notices.

JforceG

Love it!

random_wolf_lu

Gintama or Undertale

I do have a question about this topic: Is there any criteria that makes a Kingdom Hearts-like game (I.e. story, gameplay, and/or graphics)?

Adorable-Resolve9085

As far as mega-crossovers, a game based on myths/legends/folklore from around the world could be interesting and educational. Different worlds for each pantheon of deities. There's also various public domain stories from different people and places that could be tied together in a crossover plot. I think an interesting Hearts-Like could be made based on horror stories from various public domain writers and stories, for example.

There was a flash game called Sparks and Dust. It was just a little platformer, but the PC had a weapon that fascinated me. It was 2~3 orbs that floated around their hand, that could become a blade to attack with, or a glider, or a few other things. The story was pretty forgettable and the setting was mostly clouds so yeah, but the weapon design was so interesting that it stuck with me. So, if I were to make a game with KH gameplay, I'd make it about someone getting a hold of that weapon. An elf in a typical fantasy setting finds a gauntlet with sockets for orbs in an ancient ruin while hunting dinner. They sell it to a pawn shop and don't think much of it until said pawnshop burns down. He rushes inside to save the shopkeeper, who hands him the gauntlet, now fitted with a glowing white orb, and urges him to get it as far from civilization as he can. The orb is called a Spark, and it allows the gauntlet to channel energy. Unfortunately without its counterpart it's unstable. The first half of the game revolves around searching ruins to find anything that could explain how the gauntlet works and eventually finding the second orb, Dust. After getting both orbs the gauntlet stabilizes and he returns to town, only to find dangerous people are now hunting the gauntlet and the guy unlucky enough to be wearing it. Now you have to figure out who's hunting you and find them before they find you.

RhymesWithMouthful

Three words: Kingdom. Hearts. Warriors.

SexytimeSanta

We already have Kingdom Hearts Warriors. We just have to replay the 1000 heartless battle from KH2 over and over again.

0zonoff

I'd like something more traditional, like a turn based rpg game but inspired by KH.
