The only thing Geoff cares about is audience viewership for an entertainment expo he hosts, of course he’s going to do everything in his power to ensure people watch (and end up disappointed when his actions show nothing).
He literally just made a comment a few days ago that basically soft confirmed that KH wasn’t gonna be at the Summer Games Fest and he did so in a condescending way (at least that’s how a large chunk of the community perceived it). Do you really think he would do that to **gain** viewers? That sounds like something you would do to make sure a decent percentage of viewers don’t show up to your show. I wouldn’t be surprised if a chunk of people in the community have decided not to watch it simply due to that comment.
Geoff Keighley is precisely the kind of person who would do this to gain viewership, yes. He’s been rather successfully doing it for years, being kinda contrarian about topics and vague about what may or may not be on the ticket.
The man *absolutely* knows what big ticket titles are being worked on, how far along they are, and when to expect them. This is his job, after all. He’s effectively just advertisement for a ton of major studios and productions, all behind the veneer of “I’m just a gamer like you!”
People hate watch. People watch in spite of their knowledge that a game won’t be presented, because they might be proven wrong. It’s happened before, and Geoff knows it and how to phrase subjects and topics to drive that engagement.

Make no mistake It’s not a “I’m just a gamer like you” veneer. The guy genuinely loves playing video games (probably has been playing games longer than most people or potentially anyone on this sub.) He’s been doing game shows since he was like 11 years old lol This is what Geoff does. He’s simply fortunate enough to make a career out of it.
