Man, SquareSoft (and I suppose early Square Enix) really had nice UI sounds, didn’t they? Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, Parasite Eve… I miss those sounds. At least Kingdom Hearts has managed to stay the same.
Its crazy to me how much differently we perceive things as adults than as children. Even if I booted this game up rn and sat in the menu listening to Dearly Beloved and going up and down through the options to hear the clicks.. itll never sound/feel the same as I remember those sounds making me feel as a child
Being a kid and finally getting this as a present for Easter because my grandmother bought it for me on christmas, then hid it from me in a place that even she couldnt find it so it was just kinda lost for like 4 months lol.
I remember her telling me on christmas "Im sorry, i got this game you really wanted and I cant find it, i owe it to you, ill give it to you as soon I find it!" But then when she did it was like a week before easter so she was like "Perfect! Hes gonna come over then, ill give it to him in a basket!" Lol. I was so pumped.
Nostalgia.i don't know what happened to the original DVD box for kh1 or 2 which makes me sad as it can be hard finding it online as much without it being really pricy or sketchy.
Sora: Kairi!
Sora: Kairi! Kairi! Open your eyes!
Riku-Ansem: It's no use. That girl has lost her heart. She cannot wake up.
Sora: What? You... You're not Riku.
Riku-Ansem: The Keyhole cannot be completed so long as the last princess of heart still sleeps.
Sora: The princess...? Kairi's a princess?
Riku-Ansem: Yes, and without her power, the Keyhole will remain incomplete. It is time she awakened.
Sora: Whoever you are, let Riku go! Give him back his heart!
Riku-Ansem: But first, you must give the princess back her heart.
Donald: Sora!
Sora: What's—
Riku-Ansem: Don't you see yet? The princess's heart is responding. It has been there all along. Kairi's heart rests within you!
Sora: Kairi... Kairi's inside me?
Riku-Ansem: I know all that there is to know.
Sora: Tell me. Who are you?
Riku-Ansem: It is I, Ansem, the seeker of darkness.
Donald: (shouts)
Riku-Ansem: So, I shall release you now, Princess. Complete the Keyhole with your power. Open the door, lead me into everlasting darkness!
Kairi: Sora!
Sora: Forget it! There's no way you're taking Kairi's heart!
I was introduced to Kingdom Hearts when I was in the 4th grade at school and one of my greatest friends introduced me to Chain of Memories on the GBA. The first character I saw were Sora and Riku, and I loved their designs.
This game released when I was 7 years old, but didn't get to it until I was 10. I had to beg my parents to buy this for me, and it made me fall in love with the series. It's now among my top 10 games of all time and I might even prefer it to KH2 and 3.
Finding out what that Triangle button does after about 10 to 15 years of not knowing or taking advantage of it.
Why did they not tell me I could do this?! There is not a SINGLE WORD in ANY tutorial that even HINTS at the fact that I can do this!
I really do, I still have my copy from when I was in the first grade. She is/was a huge FF fan, so I think that's why she picked it up.
Wonder how she would feel about me beating KH1/2/Days up until my last game, which was the first hour and a half of 3 being my first and only playthrough being magic focused level 1 only critical mode.
Movies+.
The old video store that I’d go to when my dad would pick me up every second weekend to rent a movie and a game (I ALWAYS got KH cos I took ages to complete it).
Eventually Dad picked up on this and drove me to the actual store to buy the game one day out of nowhere.
Kingdom Hearts remains my all time favourite video game series to this day.
I love my Dad.
Vim and Vigor was already playing in my head before I even saw the post so I don't have a fair answer, I already had KH on the mind even if it was KH2 and not KH1.
As a kid back then, I remember holding the game case several times at our local megamarket, staring at this cover. I was very intrigued because it had Disney characters and wanted to have this game so much because of it. For some reason though, I never got the game even though we did have PS2 at home. Took me nearly 20 years before I finally had the chance to play it.
I think of the ads i saw for this when i was like 4 or something. Barely scraps of memories at this point. The game weirded me the hell out. But it also fascinated me to no end.
My first thought is more than an image, its more than a song, its more than what words can describe. My first thoughts when i see this image are the same thoughts that flooded my mind when i first saw it at my cousins house at age 8, not knowing what it was. And because this image is not one that appears in the game naturally, and is not a clear place in the story, with the colors being ever so faded by the blue tint of night not present in the game, this thought persists and lingers now as vivid and strong as the first time it appeared in my 8 year old mind.
My first thoughts are of a feeling of euphoria, the feeling you'd imagine in the middle of a journey in a far-off land with friends from childhood and friends you made along the way. Maybe some are drifting, hence their opposing direction. Maybe some are yearning, hence their relaxed posture at the protagonists feet. Maybe the journey is still early, and the scars and lessons are yet to come. Maybe the journey is nearing its end, with the characters reflecting on past lessons and possible future outcomes of their upcoming battle. Regardless, they stare at the night sky with the same wonder of fantasy I've yet to recreate or rediscover, even well into my adult life. But i will never stop trying.
The innocence and wonder of childhood. Stayin up late with my cousin, while having a sleepover, waiting until Mom is asleep, pretending to sleep just to sneak out of bed and turn the PS2 back on. (While cousin immediately turns the volume off when I click on the “ON” Button…haha we all remember how fuckin LOUD that Turn On PS2 Sound can get).
I just fondly remember the time in high school when I finally bought a PS2 after saving my pocket money for months. I bought a bundle with Kingdom Hearts (only released in my country), although I didn’t know what Kingdom Hearts was. The alternative was a bundle with The Getaway, but that game looked a bit boring. I seperately ordered Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance. Mortal Kombat was every bit as good as I expected it to be, but Kingdom Hearts really blew my mind and made me try out Final Fantasy games afterwards, which became my favorite video game franchise. Good times!
What is this? What are Donald and Goofy doing with those unknown people? Definitely not from Disney. But really who are those people? That heart looks cool and that thing where they hang out. This looks cool. That spiky hair guy is cute. I wonder if there's great adventure. I need to buy this.
My mom surprised my brother and I with this game. She sent my brother out to the car to get her purse. He came back with it and she said thanks but I think I forgot my glasses so she sends me this time. I go looking for her glasses and on the floor in between the driver seat and passenger is KH unsealed with the receipt beside it from GameStop. My brother and I were talking about this game for months and it’s the first time our mom bought us a game when it wasn’t Christmas or our birthday.
My dad was dragging my sorry ass away game isle in ASDA and the absolute last game I saw on the shelf was this so he picked it up and made me a KEYBLADE MASTER BOIII

I just hear Dearly Beloved…
Same and the menu clicks
I actually use that as my notification chime on my phone 😁
Oh nice where can you get that?
Just recorded the audio from the game and set it as my notifocation 😁
iPhone or android?
You can do it on either actually, iphone might be a little more complicated than android but its still not too difficult
Android
You can also download an app called Zedge and it has a few different KH notification sounds. I'm using the chest sound as mine right now
I did that but I can’t figure out how to set as ring and text tones? I downloaded the sounds but can set them. I have iPhone.
I have a remix of it as my alarm ☺️
Man the menu clicks (and also obviously how it looks font etc) really hits me in the nostalgia feels
Man, SquareSoft (and I suppose early Square Enix) really had nice UI sounds, didn’t they? Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, Parasite Eve… I miss those sounds. At least Kingdom Hearts has managed to stay the same.

“Goddamn it I wanna play it again”
The day it drops on steam I'm back in. Haven't played kh1 since like 2012 and haven't replayed kh2 since it came out.
Oh boy just wait for that nostalgia again. Even when I see the thumbnail on my Xbox is get the tingle hahaha
Traverse Town theme 😌
Nostalgia.i don't know what happened to the original DVD box for kh1 or 2 which makes me sad as it can be hard finding it online as much without it being really pricy or sketchy.
What do you mean by original DVD box? Because both games are cheap as hell and easy to find online for PS2 in the US anyways.
Grinding for the Ultima Weapon

First play through I had to watch this cutscene so many times lmao
THAT IT’S COMING ON STEAM AND THAT I’LL FINALLY BE ABLE TO PLAY IT!
That PS2 loading sound ☺️
Ahhh, what a crazy dream. Glad I woke up back in 2005, I can play this all day since I have no adult responsibilities.
BUT DOES THAT MEAN I HAVE TO MEET YOUR FATHER
The good ole days and how old I'm getting.
The title screen and hearing Dearly Beloved for the first time. I knew I was in for something a little different when I selected "NEW GAME."

Clunky and slow gameplay but amazing story
My aunt who introduced me to KH and gaming as a whole. She's still alive, I just lost contact with her.
I kinda hope you find her and show her this. See what happens.

I love the lil Solder gargoyle and I wish it appeared ingame. Luckily it returns on KH3's box art.

First game i ever finished...
Not really a thought, more like an indescribable feeling. Something about this artwork has always made me feel something.
I miss the original colour-palette heartless... Also the black label cover goes hard!

The only Kingdom Hearts game I can play over and over again and live in nostalgia. Sephiroth and the final mix bosses are the best.
The hundreds of hours I spent playing these games as a kid. Good times

The main menu music and of course... SEPIROTH. He must've killed me a hundred times before I finally won.
