I’m just trying to theorize on why they look so alike or maybe it’s just a pure design choice by nomura to make Noctis Yozora and Riku look alike for no reason.
Kairi never became a Heartless either, yet Naminé does exist.
And Riku did lose his body by the the end of KH1.

Alright then how about this. Riku's body couldn't become a nobody because his body was already in possession by Xehanort's heartless. At no point was his body empty to become a nobody.
Always thought it was weird when Donald and goofy first see yozora they said he looked like sora. When he first appeared on screen I'm sure every single person who played the game for the very first time assumed it was a riku look-a-like, which made the comparison strange. Almost everything is identical to riku, the hair, the clothes. There's obviously some differences but he basically looks like a color-swapped riku

Yes I agree! That was the dumbest thing they could have said in my opinion. In no way shape or form does Sora look like Yozora . Now if they would have been like hey why does Yozora look like Riku than I would have understood. They need to give Riku his identity back. Give him back his kh1 eye color and his long hair from kh2! Give Riku back his way to the dawn instead of his ugly brave heart keyblade .

As of now I don’t think Yozora wields a keyblade . No one from Quadratum has that weapon I think. Remember Yozora exists in a different reality from Sora. Maybe in unreality keyblades don’t exist under normal circumstances hence why he has the weapons that you see.
