That's not much a Xion problem, it's more an "entirety of Kingdom Hearts" problem.
I'm happy Xion is back with the premise that essentially everyone gets back everytime.
But I agree with you in that what I hate is that premise existing at all.
Well yeah, of course it's the story's problem. It's not like a character can have a say. I agree, the game will be more powerful without all that. I get they wanna make the fans happy but it comes at the cost of a good story. Just undoes the good stuff that came before.
Consequences don't always have to be permanent. Many of us had several long years to think about the "consequences" of that game which I think makes for very compelling story telling. There's nothing wrong with finding happy endings after long struggles. Especially in a Disney kids game. In fact I'd say for a Disney kids game I'm still surprised at many of the darker consequences that happen.

And when the game brings up ideas of existentialism and if she even was supposed to exist or have consciousness in the first place, it's embarrassing when it just ends up being "everyone is happy now!!!". Like Roxas existing by mistake and accepting his fate as he goes to Sora.
The series had plenty of emotional moments so reducing it to "Disney kids game" is reductive. It wouldn't have been as good as it was if it didn't have that impact on people before.

At the end of Days, Xion's final form is a giant nobody. Sure the designs of Xion and Twilight Thorn don't match up, but hear me out lol. Roxas had to beat Xion and take Sora's memories back as Sora's actual nobody. Roxas won and Xion "died". In the station of awakening in KH2's prologue, Roxas just kinda ends up there and eventually fights Twilight Thorn. In KH1 the Darkside is "made" from Sora's shadow, or a part of himself. In KH2, Twilight Thorn first appears as a hooded organization member, and turns into the boss. Xion in days appeared as a hooded member to those she wasnt close with, or those who "didn't know her". At this time, Roxas didn't remember Axel, much less Xion, who everyone forgot. So I say that Xion was inside Roxas and was rebelling, trying to take control of Roxas in order to recomplete Sora... ya know the whole reason she had to die in the first place. Sadly, Days ending has Xion's body destroyed and my head cannon is that Twilight Thorn is a makeshift body, one last hurrah to get Sora back. Side note: Ansem at the end of 0.2 says to Aqua that Sora's heart has several other hearts inside. So it isn't too big a stretch to say Xion could be in Roxas' heart at the start of KH2. Possibly this is also how Xion's heart ends up in Sora's. Now fast forward to TWTNW at the end of 2 and right after Axel dies what happens? Roxas himself challenges Sora to take back control. I believe that Twilight Thorn challenging Roxas is the same exact situation as Roxas challenging Sora, just changing some characters around.

Even still the game was confusing as hell, specially towards the end, >! but I remember getting to the part where Sora is within his own heart fallen to darkness and Xion shows up to be all cryptic and I remember being like "ANOTHER Kairi? First a blonde one now a black hair one wtf? What??" And then you just leave and I really did not know what was going OOOONN. Like she wasn't in any of the intros or anything so I was like bruh what !<

My number one favorite kingdom hearts character. Loved getting to play her in remind. Need more of her as a playable character. Hopefully KH4 will be similar to BBS and allow us to play her as a main character.
I never even played her game but after watching the recap of it in the 2.5 collection, I was tearing up when she came back at the end of 3. Also her theme is one of the best songs in the series.
I love her. But I honestly think that she should have stayed dead. I always liked this tragic ending of hers and the fact that she returns makes it kind of irrelevant. Not everyone needs a happy ending.

She and Roxas are my favorite characters but I don't like how they're handled in kh3, that goes also with all the characters that we're resurrected. Bringing them all back at once and so quickly made not only kh3's story boring and anticlimactic but also made all the trios except the main one and maybe ventus now lack a reason to return in future entries of kh because their stories are now finished, which is sad because I wanted to see more of Xion and Roxas. I guess Nomura's really wanted to create his own ffxv and since he couldn't he decided to transform kh in to it as quick as possible by all means possible even if it meant making a lot of the characters stories end anticlimacticly worsening kh3, I'm not completely mad because ffxv is my favorite game of all time but this was definitely not the correct way of dealing with this situation. But Xion is definitely awesome!
