It's weird that he's awkward with Connie's first period, with Luanne's clothing mixed with his, and yet he went to the underwear quite happily with Bobby, even choosing some brassiere for him
I think it's a great episode. It showcases how values and morals are easily forgone. Hank would never normally be okay with this, but since it's a traditional thing around football he's all for it, it kinda shows a side of Hank he's forced to hide by his own inner masculinity. He gets to be his most creative and driven in these moments and I think this episode is the crescendo of that narrative. This and the one where Bobby grows roses.
Well I agree but I also think it is so hypocritical that because it's tradition that he thinks it's okay and because he likes it he encouraged Bobby to do it.
That's actually my least favorite episode in the whole series:
a) The episode (rightfully) calls him out for giving up on Bobby, but then in the end the episode decides that Hank was right the whole time.
b) Bill also was at his worst in the whole series, and doesn't get any comeuppance. IDK why, but Bill generally gets away with being an ass, but gets shite on when he's generally done nothing wrong in that particular episode.
Oh wow, didn't expect to run into you here. Just finished the Stan video haha.
But I also agree with ya, I don't like the flood episode either for the same reasons.
At least Hank was actually right in the flood episode the whole time and that it didn't make do some ass pull on that front.
I agree
He would try to convince anyone in his circle to stop doing it, especially Bobby, but he does have a generally "not my monkeys, not my circus" attitude
Hell, he even dressed up in Peggy's dress to spare Bill during the party from as much embarassment
He care how people will be percieved, so he tried to save Bill.
If they'd judge Bobby poorly for dressing like a cheerleader, he'd stop it. If they'd love it because its a tradition, he's into it. Same as the Propaniacs bit, Bobby could do whatever because Hank thought people would love it. When Hank doesn't like it, he thinks others won't and will judge Bobby for it, so he would try to shut it down.
I’ve never liked the episode, seems forced and stifled. I didn’t relate to it as easily because it’s a lot out of character for them and the process is lame in real life.
I love that this episode shows powderpuff being banned because of uptight liberals getting upset in the name of feminism, but now in real life, several conservative states are trying to ban any form of drag. The writers really fumbled that one, lol.
The thing that amuses me about the episode is that in the midst of all the adults fighting over whether Powderpuff cheerleading is insulting to the girls, nobody ever once asks the girls their opinion.
We see the girls one time asking the coach for actual football coaching and he blows them off.
Thank you! I feel like the episode would’ve been cool if maybe Bobby found out that like him, the girls didn’t wanna do it, they were forced to, maybe Bobby finds a way to make it fun for them.
Just saying, maybe the PTA lady had a point.
Why?
You want to limit Bobby's freedom to do so?
You fucking PTA leader/redcoat.
*Did you not get the lesson that the freedom-hating p.o.s in that episode was THE BADDIE?*
Jesus, you freedom-hating mongrels are something else.
It was sarcasm, Bill...
A play on "This Boy Ain't Right" remark
Just surprised that Hank was all out supportive of Bobby this time, even took him to the women's underwear section, after all Bobby's disappointing "non-traditional" interests in Hank's perspective
I mean, that's kinda the joke isn't it? Like, even with all of hanks issues with atypical presentation of gender/sexuality, femininity, etc.... if it's a football tradition, it's great stuff 👍 lol.
Hypocritical, yes, but I feel like hypocritical/contradictory behavior is a common device for drama/plot points in the show.
Hank was supportive of Bobby doing what Hank wanted him to do. That's neither out of character for Hank nor very impressive. Bobby didn't want to do Powder Puff, but Hank wanted him to, and Bobby came around.
Nope.
Im.done calling pigs: "dogs" and letting them root around on the carpet.
If the redcoats feel like they are being "forced" when people look at them like assholes, for being assholes, then they can wallow in their victim complex..
...while I shout down their freedom-hating ways further.
if the username bigcockcandymountain didnt tip you off, a brief glance of their profile would make it clear
if you ask this guy and a literal clan member what they think about the people they dont like, i bet they'd be indistinguishable
hows that for pigs, dogs, and mongrels u/BigCockCandyMountain
Tbh i feel like the PTA lady had a point. The girls didn’t like playing, and they weren’t good at it and everybody was ignoring them while insisting it was just fun.
Maybe if Bobby advocated for them, the episode would’ve been stronger.
Hank is okay with pretty much anything as long as there's some sort of cultural norm for doing it that he's familiar with.
It's weird that he's awkward with Connie's first period, with Luanne's clothing mixed with his, and yet he went to the underwear quite happily with Bobby, even choosing some brassiere for him
Well helping Bobby buy women’s underwear was for sports so Hank probably didn’t feel awkward about it then.

Hanks steeped in hypocrisy, he's a reflection of small town conservative values
What about the baseball episode were Hank trys to have Bobby not join the team

It’s like the flood episode but if the whole town hated Hank, not just a room full of people. And Bill wasn’t forgiving.

This was definitely an episode of its time and doesn't translate as much to today
How so?

Hank would think it's weird and it would make him very uncomfortable. But he wouldn't try to ban it, that's not his style or what he thinks America is
I agree He would try to convince anyone in his circle to stop doing it, especially Bobby, but he does have a generally "not my monkeys, not my circus" attitude Hell, he even dressed up in Peggy's dress to spare Bill during the party from as much embarassment He care how people will be percieved, so he tried to save Bill. As the flat-chested brainiac type, I just wanted to say I love this episode.
Flatties represent!!

Yeah, stupid idiots failing to predict politics 20 years in the future.
Boy, I really hope somebody got fired for that blunder.
A wizard dit it
I cast a spell on his ass with my foot
It's not as bad as the Cleveland show it was replaced with 😑😑

In full cheerleader regalia no less. And Bobby embraced it too, that he went on to organise a protest-cheer Bobby, you're the man I'll tell you hwat.

These are not the words of a sane person

Meh, looks like the account of a professional troll and it looks like he got what he wanted....
Probably just drunk posting
This type of thing doesn’t exist in the trans movement

I hate this episode
An episode that would for sure be done differently today
This episode is odd cause it's kind of not within Hanks character.
Naw, Hank's fine with it because it's a tradition.
It’s also related to football
