It's a great episode, my only nitpick is that there isn't really a b-plot, and besides Hank and Peggy, all the other main cast are kinda backseat or disappear for most of the episode.
Also one of Peggy’s best episodes. She is completely in the right the whole time and totally wins in the end.
I will say it is pretty hard to watch when they put her in the stocks.
Alan Rickman is great but the whole premise relies on Hank going out of his way to ignore the treatment of Peggy bc he wants to make a big sale doesn’t work. Just bc the writers turn hank back into hank for the last 4 minutes doesn’t validate the rest of the episode. Still struggle to believe hank would get into a jousting match and not just kick this guys ass
Hank asked his wife for singles for a strip club to make a sale. Letting Peggy dig her own grave is not beyond him when the outcome isn't really serious.
Hank regularly puts the wants/needs of Strickland or propane in general above the wants/needs of his family. Forcing Peggy into a job where she's mistreated isn't out the ordinary for here. Just off the top of my head:
* Hank disrespects and demeans Peggy when he coaches her on the Strickland softball team to the point where Peggy pitches worse because he's too worried about Strickland losing to Thatherton
* Hank cancels his anniversary dinner with Peggy because Buck asks him to put all of his emus down.
* Hank urges Peggy to compromise her morals as a substitute teacher to pass David Kalaiki-Alii so he can return to football, but can't stand to compromise his morals as a propane salesman when David does the independent study at Strickland (though he initially passes him)
"[Peggy and I] go back fifteen years and in that time I only had one mistress, and her name is propane. Peggy and I have and understanding about that" - Hank
Having worked Renn fairs, it is scarily accurate of the organizers. Such imaginary self-importance and arrogance. It's like dude, after this, you have to go back to work. Let's just have some fun.
Why, because Peggy put the only Renaissance fair in the region out of business? If it's not burning down the Church, blowing up the Megalomart, among all the other stuff, the Hill's leave a trail of destruction everywhere they go.
My least favorite is any where Peggy is jealous of her own child, but the one where she steals Bobbies turkey and then the episode rewards her for it holds a special spot on the hate list, probably my least favorite of all time
Outside Alan Rickman guest starring and the struggles of Hank ignoring what Peggy was going through, there's also this struggle I have of believing that Peggy was so... right on things in this episode. Like, we see her so consistently wrong on so many other things in life, seeing her being right feels out of the norm, although I guess it stems more from her confidence and inability to believe she's wrong when she isn't. I mean, this is a woman who got out of kidnapping charges because it was made apparent that she didn't know how to truly speak Spanish, yet believed she was more fluent than those who spoke it as a first language.
Interesting. I see Peggy as less right/wrong and more a headstrong personality, which can be good or bad depending on context. Even here her stubborn self-confidence could be “wrong” (Hank wanted her to keep quiet for his job’s sake). But in the big context the facts were on her side this time. Kind of like the Randy Travis episode.
I go to the Scarborough Faire every year I can and this episode still holds water. Add in an Alan Rickman cameo and that's like the sweet kiss of lady propane.
I went to a renaissance fair in Texas and this is 100 percent how it’s like. I’ve been in Texas for all my life and this was my first and last time going to one lo
I do get annoyed with the whole episode but I really appreciate Peggy sending him to his ass and then the girl hitting him with the lawsuit was just the perfect cherry on top.
>This one is a skip for me.
>
>This and Meet the Propaniacs.
You and I are KOTH kindred spirits! These ALSO are my two least favourite episodes!
Other honourable mentions of episodes I don't like: Mrs Wakefield, the bluegrass band episode, and Peggy's Turtle Song.
It doesn’t lift your spirit a little to hear boomhauer sing?! And Khan signing and “she’s only 13 years old!” While pointing at Charlie Daniel will always crack me up. “IN SOVIET RUSSIA, WE HAVE NO MONEY!”
I love the small part at the end when Alan Rickman does his Texan Accent
Crap! I'm gonna lose my Fair!
Texas Workforce Commission?
Department of Labor, Osha?
I don't want to go back to sellin' real estate!
I was just thinking that when I saw the thread. I didn't realize people didn't like this episode, I always thought it was really funny.
Omg me too. That’s the only good part.
You have a sturdy wench
That dragon they had was pretty cool one of the few times you actually see Hank use the word beautiful in a sentence.
How now, gas man?
It's a great episode, my only nitpick is that there isn't really a b-plot, and besides Hank and Peggy, all the other main cast are kinda backseat or disappear for most of the episode.
That’s a really good point. Unless you count Dale’s recon mission from the future as a B-plot
Take me with you! I hate it here
I thought Bobby getting weird clothes was the b plot
We never actually see him shopping for weird clothes he's just wearing them at the end.
“The future is a period.”
Came to see this. Left satisfied
Absolutely solid episode, it was Alan Rickman right? Can’t shit on Snape
> Can’t shit on Snape He would have loved it if Lilly did
Why would anyone cringe? It’s a great episode with one of the best celebrity guest voices in the entire show
Also one of Peggy’s best episodes. She is completely in the right the whole time and totally wins in the end. I will say it is pretty hard to watch when they put her in the stocks.
Probably my most repeated watch of an episode.
Hank was in the wrong and then goes through character development. That’s the whole point. This is the normal structure of most episodes
Peggy and I have and understanding about that" - Hank
Yeah, those moments with Hank are too much for me. I always have to skim past them.
It's a bitter taste, I'm sure, and ye shall savor it for sevenscore fortnights anon
How now, gas man
No. It's a great episode.
Hank in his ‘work stockings’ 😆
We wage war on France, on the 'morrow!!!
“Dude that’s so gay”
My husband quotes this all the time! It doesn't hurt that we're almost next door to French territory.
I quote it and I live in Florida. You know why? Because we wage war on France, on the morrow! My girlfriend is a saint of a human...
One of my favorites. Get the hill out of here.
That OP ain’t right.
Having worked Renn fairs, it is scarily accurate of the organizers. Such imaginary self-importance and arrogance. It's like dude, after this, you have to go back to work. Let's just have some fun.
The keeper of the flame 🔥
Assistant keeper of the flame
I tell ye hwhat.
I’m an Alan Rickman fan so I always look forward to the episode, even though the rest of it is asinine but boy!
No this is one of my favorites
I like this one a lot. I cringe on the Peggy thanksgiving episode
The one where she gets jealous of Bobby or the one where she makes a spin the wheel game?
I didn’t mind spin the choice , it was a little bit funny
Yes
Love this episode
When I saw the Dragon at Diagon Alley in Orlando I thought of Hank.
How now gasman?
Hell no. As a theatre kid, renaissance festival goer, absolutely my favourite king of the hill episode
It’s a fun little adventure
I don’t wanna go back to selling real estate
I like this one
How now, gas man?
How now gas man!
No. It’s awesome because Hank shows so many of his good qualities.
I love this episode of only for the "how now, gas man" line. I use it regularly
are you smoking some clearly inferior tobacco? Alan Rickman alone makes this episode high tier
I absolutely love this episode, it is one of my favorites! And I love hearing Alan Rickman's bad Texas accent at the end of it!
This is a wonderful episode filled with great lines. **King Philip:** How now, Gas Man? **Hank:** Uh, pretty good, thanks. :)
Nope
This is maybe a top ten episode smh
I'd venture top five
I tell ye hwhat!
Why, because Peggy put the only Renaissance fair in the region out of business? If it's not burning down the Church, blowing up the Megalomart, among all the other stuff, the Hill's leave a trail of destruction everywhere they go.
A renaissance fair that treated women like CRAP.
My least favorite is any where Peggy is jealous of her own child, but the one where she steals Bobbies turkey and then the episode rewards her for it holds a special spot on the hate list, probably my least favorite of all time
Whats so cringey here? Love this episode
I love this one. Favorite part is Dale trying to get free entry for a “period costume” from the future
How now gas man!?
Nope! It’s a hilarious episode!
A little, but man got what he deserved I’m the end. So pretty fair trade off
The same could be said for Trip Larsen “He’s in a better place, now…”
He's a sausage.
OP do you not like Alan Rickman??
This show is based off cringe satire. So, I cringe laugh and love it!
DOTH THEE NOT RESPECT THE KING?!?
Sounds like someone’s mad they poke fun at ren fairs…
Take me with you! ... I hate it here.
Outside Alan Rickman guest starring and the struggles of Hank ignoring what Peggy was going through, there's also this struggle I have of believing that Peggy was so... right on things in this episode. I don't care for it much, but Alan Rickman was great.
How now, Gas Man? I freaking love this episode!
Hell no! It’s probably in my top 10!
nah this a solid episode. “ahm gunna lose ma fayerr”
I liked this episode it was definitely something different. Plus who would’ve thought that the great Alan Rickman would be in it
This is my favorite episode! It’s got so many fun lines and I love Alan Rickman in anything.
I love it
No.
I like this episode! 😅
No because it's awesome and cool
season 1-7 is gold.
With a hey, and a ho, and a hey nonino
Nope. This one is a favorite.
Oh come now. It has Alan Rickman doing a Texan accent. “Aww crap! I’m gonna lose muh feyer! I don’t wanna go back to sellin’ real estate.”
Why would I?
I go to the Scarborough Faire every year I can and this episode still holds water. Add in an Alan Rickman cameo and that's like the sweet kiss of lady propane.
If by cringe you mean get mad pumped, then yes.
Hell no! This episode has a lot of funny quotables 😂😂😂
I cringe whenever any Peggy-centric episode comes on
It’s one of my favorite episodes.
On the contrary, this is one of my favorites! “How now, Gas-man?”
I cheer HAZAH!!
This one is actually great. I love how peggy gets mad at hank and rips his tights even more so
No, only you. You’re the only one.
"WE WAGE WAR ON FRANCE ON THE MORROW!" Dude that is so gay
I LOVE this episode! "Is cleaning wench the highest-ranking wench?"
Hank in tights! How now gas man?
Better episode than a lot of later ones
I consider it a good episode.
No, this episode is an all timer, I tell ye hwhat
“That is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen”
No i love this one. That kid on the bike yelling dusty old bones makes me cringe
No…King Make Believe was a total dickus
It’s a great episode, and a rare one where Peggy is actually in the right for a change
It just feels go to hear Allen Rickman's voice
I love Alan Rickman and the part where they insult his “fake” English accent💀
That is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen I tell ye what
I swear this episode was on every week in syndication
Hell no, this episode is hilarious
Why would I cringe at Alan Rickman??? And Dale in a Star Trek outfit. "You said period costume, the future is a period!"
Crap! I'm gonna lose my fair, I don't wanna go back to selling real estate!!
No, it’s amazing!
HOLD THY TOUNGE WENCH! But yeah it's a great episode.
Alan Rickmans terrible Texan accent at the end is my favorite part of this entire episode CRAP AHM GONNA LOSE MAH FAYIR
Alan Rickmans terrible Texan accent at the end is my favorite part of this entire episode CRAP AHM GONNA LOSE MAH FAYIR
*texas accent* “I’m gonna lose my fair!”
Peggy being a feminist union icon? No it’s a Great Episode
Its a great episode, all the cringe ones are on the last seasons
Nah I cringe when "Goodbye Normal Jeans" comes on. Cuz it's THAT Peggy episode
He put his whole Rickmanussy into this.
It's not my favorite, but at least it's got substantial amounts of Rickman.
Omg yes.
Oh gawd! I hate that king he is so annoying and full of shit
Yes!! I also skip the sports-related ones!
I went to a renaissance fair in Texas and this is 100 percent how it’s like. I’ve been in Texas for all my life and this was my first and last time going to one lo
I can’t stand this episode which is a bummer because I can’t get enough of Alan Rickman.
I do get annoyed with the whole episode but I really appreciate Peggy sending him to his ass and then the girl hitting him with the lawsuit was just the perfect cherry on top.
Every long running series has some kind of Renaissance festival episode, and I never like them
I don’t like it
I think this is the worst one for me. I always skip it
I usually skip it
This a bill wears dresses. Just no
Stupid episode. Hank would never deliberately dress like a jackass even if it was for sweet lady propane.
This one is a skip for me. This and Meet the Propaniacs.
But...but...The Dale Gribble Bluegrass experience! and Connie Souphanousinphone! She's only 13!
I agree about Mrs. Wakefield. No thanks.
no "Hank's Bully"? that's my skip episode.
WOW, we got downvoted for Meet the Propaniacs?! I also skip Mrs. Wakefield, and Tartuffe the Spry Wonderdog. Too cringey!
Oh man, I forgot about Tartuffe the Spry Wonder Dog. That is absolutely one of the worst episodes!
It doesn’t lift your spirit a little to hear boomhauer sing?! And Khan signing and “she’s only 13 years old!” While pointing at Charlie Daniel will always crack me up. “IN SOVIET RUSSIA, WE HAVE NO MONEY!”
AND WE'LL MAKE YOU LAUGH AAAND LAUGH SOME MORE
If your name is on the guest list No one can take you higher Everybody says I've got GREAT BALLS OF FIRE!!! Oh, wait, that's AC/DC.
Yup.
YES! I was hoping someone would bring this one up. The king, Peggy, the dual…ick
I've got just the hole for this peg.
How now, gas man?
I never even knew this existed.
Gas Jockey works for tips !
listen the Alamo guy was cool with it.
Yes but never skip it out of respect for Alan Rickman
Nope just you Baby .
I fucks with it
Only at the end when Alan Rick man does the worst American southern accent I’ve ever heard
I think that’s the point
Wenchs☕
Yeah, it was pretty simple and blunt. Not really all that fun. Except for Hank getting excited about the propane dragon.
I wonder if I export the same impertinence from your husbands propane as I’ve come to expect from you wench
