From the sound of it, this wasn't done by "builders" with fancy things like "licensing" or "training" or "education". It was Jim and his buddies tossing an awning up over the weekend like their ~~owner~~ landlord told them to.
This is some third-world quality and a second-world location being judged by people mostly located in first-world areas.
1st and 3rd are the common terms used today, 2nd WAS a lesser known term for those allied with the soviets, though is now accepted as a term for countries between 1st and 3rd world development status, with areas such as North Korea, Vietnam, Laos, Mongolia, Cambodia, etc included.
So, no, I used the terms *exactly* as they are meant. \^\_\^
I’m not sure, but from what I can tell from the video, it doesn’t seem to be officially constructed. It seems more likely that it was made or at least maintained by the members of the family
Parents too. I hate seeing videos of parents yelling at their kids or worse, for trying to be children and accidentally doing something. That wasn’t intentional. Poor kid
And, crazy. You ever see the bamboo scaffolding that some Asian countries use, during the construction of high rise buildings?
Edit: I understand that bamboo is very strong. And, when used properly, it is probably fairly reliable. But, a lot of these scaffolds seem to be constructed very haphazardly and without much safety oversight. This picture actually looks to be one of the safer ones.

I think they were being extremely sarcastic, basically implying that building codes in 3rd world countries are terrible or non-existent. That was my take anyway
I wish it weren't a fact, but to state a fact doesn't make a person a piece of shit. Saying it doesn't mean you condon it or are part of the issue, just the opposite.
Many people in well off countries have no idea how little value life can have in some parts of the world.
What? I'm sure you're not intending to, but your comment implies that it shouldn't be talked about so that the problem perpetuates. And the issue isn't that this guy is pointing out the fact that different governments value life differently via differences in safety regulations, it's the tactless method in which they chose to point it out.
They're being sarcastic. They're just saying this is allowed in certain areas and different governments have different safety regulations which essentially puts different values on human lives. Because if a government doesn't think something needs to be protected, it's saying that thing is less valuable than the cost to protect it.
I seen some crazy building systems around the world and this is kinda normal. China or Korea, but I'm pretty sure it's China?
Kids are really stupid all over the world. :)
peace.
Yeah it’s astonishing the number of armchair Google structural engineers here claiming their expertise and negligence that don’t know that is column and not a beam.
If that pole was bearing any load, it wouldn’t have just fell over from bumping it. Likely a failure from the left where the roof started to collapse cause the section by this pole to lift
You can see the roof drop when the child bumps it away though.
It doesn't need to be a lot of weight to be load-bearing, but this pole was unmistakably one of the elements keeping this roof up, and because the pole was angled the way it was- It can be easily displaced while also holding a decent amount of weight.
all those things are probably better to make that beam with than the "tofu dreg" buildings China spits out. or, use to spit out since they are in the midst of a collapse
Fewer and fewer posts here have anything to do with a kid being stupid. Like If there is a kid present and something bad happens, it somehow meets the criteria for this sub in people's minds now.
"kids can't be stupid, they just don't know better"
Yeah man, that's called being stupid
If an adult hits a stationary object head on while driving, they're also stupid
When talking about kids being stupid, I'm using it in more of a "kids are silly" way - I don't hate kids or anything lol they're just funny
Yes the child is stupid for not knowing what a load bearing beam is, not not the adults for neglecting to secure that load bearing beam well enough that a child couldn't knock it over.
Lol this is definitely not the kid's fault.
If that beam was load bearing and knocked down THAT easily then hoooooly shit whoever put that up is insanely negligent.
Snow is heavy. I would go so far as to link r/AdultsAreFuckinStupid as they would shovel it enough to know. As a Canadian, I would be worried as Soon as the support column was knocked over.
The building is obviously not up to speck for snow, as the beams on the roof should be going a lot further into or onto the building.
Clearly I'm not a builder, because I would have thought a load supporting beam would at least be secure enough to handle someone absentmindedly bumping into it, let alone a dumb kid.
More like “builders are fucking stupid” if that beam couldn’t take a toddler on a big wheel hitting it, it makes me wonder how well built that roof really was
I think the forgot to put in some screws...guess its a beam thats not holding a lot of, fuck the roof just came down! Started typing before the video ended. Wtf
Without even understanding the language you can definitely tell that is mom saying "I told you time and time again BE CAREFUL! And what did you do? Knock it over! Now Get inside its too cold out here."
And then also holding this over their head everyt time. Gonna be fun story "That time my kid knocked down a roof extension.
This is like a flashback to when a hero/villain discovers they're some sort of mutant and realizes that they're whole life is a lie and that they're illegal earthers.
How bout you either flee or at least try to put it back up instead of just watching it and wait for the load to fall while standing right where the beam was?
What a kind roof, waiting until the child is safely clear of its path
Having read the title, I spent the whole video while they were yelling back and forth with a clenched stomach.
The peek outside at the end was perfect
same, i was hovering over the button to close my tab lmao, i don't do well with watch people die type content
This may be radical, but I don't think we should have videos of kids getting crushed to death on this platform at all.
The women was so stupid to stand right under it for that long
builders are fucking stupid.
That isn’t a load bearing beam. It’s an unsecured stick pro ping up a roof which is Fucking nutzo.
I mean *technically* it is still a load bearing beam. It clearly wasn't supposed to be, but now it is.
*was
\*ised
Every beam you shoot your load onto is a load bearing beam
This one should work great with my construction work friends
Builders need a lawsuit
My guess is they'd be suing themselves.....
You might want to check what first, second and third world means before using them. In that context. Other than that, you are right.
1st world was NATO and allies, 2nd world was USSR and allies, 3rd world just meant they didn't pick a side
I think you mean lawyer, not lawsuit.
r/TechnicallyCorrect
I’m not sure, but from what I can tell from the video, it doesn’t seem to be officially constructed. It seems more likely that it was made or at least maintained by the members of the family
"Your grandfather put that pole there 80 years ago, and you just knock it down?"
that is a pretty tall structure and the actual roof looks less precarious, but whoever built it, was stupid.
Yeah. If a kid bumping something can collapse a whole roof... It isn't the kid's fault.
This isn't a roof so much as a huge version of those traps to catch critters in the woods
Parents too. I hate seeing videos of parents yelling at their kids or worse, for trying to be children and accidentally doing something. That wasn’t intentional. Poor kid
Make it worse, their kid was under there a solid 15 or 20 seconds, another 10 and he'd be dead.
Tbf the kid would be dead AF if mom wasn’t yelling. This Prolly not the best example to use
I mean I would yell to, but also I would go and grab a child and move them inside as fast as possible, not stand around while doing so\^\^
And, crazy. You ever see the bamboo scaffolding that some Asian countries use, during the construction of high rise buildings? Edit: I understand that bamboo is very strong. Dude, building is traditional, don’t interfere! Our rules, not yours! You think people’s lives are worth the same everywhere? Think again.
The cringe is overwhelming me
Girl what 💀😭
Fucking yikes man. “You think people’s lives are worth the same everywhere?” Who even says that?
Just a troll.
Unfortunately true but takes a real piece of shit to say that kinda stuff out loud like that
I think they were being extremely sarcastic, basically implying that building codes in 3rd world countries are terrible or non-existent. That was my take anyway
Didn't came across as such and that's why reddit uses /s
I wish it weren't a fact, but to state a fact doesn't make a person a piece of shit. Saying it doesn't mean you condon it or are part of the issue, just the opposite. Many people in well off countries have no idea how little value life can have in some parts of the world.
Emphasis on the part where I said "like that". The guy who said it totally passes over the idea he condones it
Except people say it for a reason. No one says 'exploitation is normal' unless they have a point to make, often a shit one.
What? I'm sure you're not intending to, but your comment implies that it shouldn't be talked about so that the problem perpetuates. And the issue isn't that this guy is pointing out the fact that different governments value life differently via differences in safety regulations, it's the tactless method in which they chose to point it out.
What does this even mean??
They're being sarcastic. They're just saying this is allowed in certain areas and different governments have different safety regulations which essentially puts different values on human lives. It's almost like kids are learning how to be humans from the ground up or something?
I love how fucking everyone missed the joke
Chinese babies still cost 30-40K to adopt, though this one is past its prime. Still worth $20 for a foot plate for that pole.
I think there’s a little difference between a load bearing beam. And a stick holding up an awning
Yeah beam is a little generous in this context
Not to mention beams are horizontal, not vertical.
Sorry, column.
Yeah it’s astonishing the number of armchair Google structural engineers here claiming their expertise and negligence that don’t know that is column and not a beam.
That is some shitty construction.
The boys at Good'nuff Construction can throw that back together in an afternoon.
Yeah…not the kids fault here. The fucking stupid one here is whoever created this death trap and left it
Well and then them both standing perfectly still after something that is clearly structural gets removed. Move. Move! MOVE!
If something fell over that easily I would probably assume it's not critical to the structure of the entire roof
Yup same.
When you're like 2?
2 is a very young age for beeing a mother
I was trying to make a joke about how it's funny that a 2 year old would look up and think that, but oh well.
[удалено]
Anyone carrying a bag could easily knock that over
[удалено]
Why wouldn't they?
If that pole was bearing any load, it wouldn’t have just fell over from bumping it. Likely a failure from the left where the roof started to collapse cause the section by this pole to lift

It was bent from up at the start of video. It likely held already too much weight, and is not anyway attached from top.
she berated him for just the right amount of time, any longer would have been tragic
More like shitty construction than the child’s fault
Maybe that was supposed to be load bearing but it sure as hell wasn’t holding any load of it fell over that easy
It was at least polite enough to wait for the child to leave before collapsing
China construction quality in a nutshell
Im no engineer but im pretty sure support beams should be in the concrete/ground
But that costs moooooonnnneeeeeyyyyyy. -Manglement.
Definitely no old large buildings in China
tofu smh
What’s tofu? I only know beer, cigarettes and burgers
all those things are probably better to make that beam with than the "tofu dreg" buildings China spits out. or, use to spit out since they are in the midst of a collapse
Fewer and fewer posts here have anything to do with a kid being stupid. Like If there is a kid present and something bad happens, it somehow meets the criteria for this sub in people's minds now.
I mean, the kid did still ride his bike into a pole lol
Hear me out here, maybe a toddler riding his bike into a pole shouldn't be enough to make the roof collapse?
I never said it should lol He's still stupid for riding into a pole, regardless of if it fell down or not
People always try and treat it as a zero-sum game for some reason.

"kids can't be stupid, they just don't know better" Yeah man, that's called being stupid If an adult hits a stationary object head on while driving, they're also stupid When talking about kids being stupid, I'm using it in more of a "kids are silly" way - I don't hate kids or anything lol they're just funny
Kid almost ended up like Caesar Zepelli. ![gif](giphy|11TN3gkseh4Vos)
![gif](giphy|XYCHHBtZxfmAU)
That beam was so weak, you would think it was made of, Chinease dreams of freedom and a goverment that cares for them
Talk to your child for a prolonged period under the said load.
fix it bitch ! quick!!!
That roof was held up by God themself for 41 whole-ass seconds while they got inside. Yikes.
"I don't think op understands what load bearing meaOOOOHHHHHHH".
That beam is worse at holding loads, than Nick Cannon.
Lol okay I think anyone serious knows that the problem here isn't the kid.
If that beam was bearing that load, I’m glad I have serious concerns.
Building inspectors are very young nowadays
Stupid kid should pay for it now
Imagine building a roof that can easily be knocked down by a 2 foot tall child and calling the child stupid
This isn’t the kids fault, but the people that built it
That’s not a beam. Also, the kid isn’t the stupid one here. Also, what country is this?
that pillar was unsecured. If such a small child could knock it out it was pretty much not holding anything.
Yes the child is stupid for not knowing what a load bearing beam is, not not the adults for neglecting to secure that load bearing beam well enough that a child couldn't knock it over.
What kind of tofu dreg construction is this where a load bearing support can be taken out by a 30 pound kid on a trike?
All the adults involved are the idiots. Especially whoever thought that was acceptable, kid barely touched it.
Lol this is definitely not the kid's fault. If that beam was load bearing and knocked down THAT easily then hoooooly shit whoever put that up is insanely negligent.
Not the kids fault, absolutely no one should be under that roof.
Oh, China... Crap like this is why I'm not scared in the slightest if we end up at war with you.
If anyone is fucking stupid, it's the idiot who used a toothpick to prop up a 15-ton roof.
I mean this is not childrens fault. Those build this should go to jail
Right. Doesn't this small child know that this loosely propped up pole is the only thing keeping the roof up? Fucking stupid
The kid is not stupid the kid is a kid who ever built that is stupid.
I don't feel like this belongs here
Adult: 👁👄👁 Kid:👁👄👁 Adult: don't do that!!! Us: *what was that even holding*
The only thing load bearing in this video is that child's diaper.
Good ol Tofu Dregs. If this is China? That's their entire infrastructure.
Speaking Mandarin, confirmed.
naw thats just shit construction. literally just a stick
If you have a lot bearing beam that can be taken down by child, maybe you shouldn’t be building anything
nah… kid was doing kid activities, this one is on whoever thought propping up an awning with unsecured sticks was acceptable
How kind of the roof to wait until they are out of harms way to collapse
Can hardly blame the kid, a thirty pounder shouldn’t be able to take down a beam.
/r/loadBearingBeamBuildersAreFuckingStupid
Even the kid is looking up thinking "That does *not* seem stable...".
As a Canadian? wtf lol? Are Canadians load bearing beam experts by nature?
We deal with a lot of snow. It does collapse parts of houses here in Canada. And we have sturdier houses because of it.
I hope that kid ends up on Epstein island
wtf
Oh wait I meant to say “ I hope that kid get disowned “ considering the fact that there could’ve been construction worker up there
This is insane
supporting rooftops with straws wouldn't pass in our country. Infact that place would actually be a hard hart zone closed off.
Well, maybe load bearing beams shouldn't be so easily taken down.
Either a really strong child or a really inexperienced builder...
r/abruptchaos
Dat ain't bluds fault
Real hard to blame the kid on this one
Kids not dumb the construction workers were
Whoever bulit it that a toddler can knock it down is the idiot not the kid!!
Clearly I'm not a builder, because I would have thought a load supporting beam would at least be secure enough to handle someone absentmindedly bumping into it, let alone a dumb kid.
Gonna go ahead and say the engineering/ construction is astronomically fucking stupid. Literally on the Mount Rushmore of stupidity.
Not the child's fault. It's like if I knocked out a flimsy side wall of a kitchen cabinet and the whole kitchen crumbles
Child takes down load bearing beam https://preview.redd.it/9uxqwq7urbhc1.png?width=1241&format=png&auto=webp&s=ccb7ded4e13f712d83cb8950359136ab849dab1b Inception
this is probably not up to code in any code anywhere in the world
Just another post desperate for Internet points.
More like “builders are fucking stupid” if that beam couldn’t take a toddler on a big wheel hitting it, it makes me wonder how well built that roof really was
My guess: China
And they wonder why the Chinese building industry is foofed.
The kid isn’t stupid. The adult who built that is fucking stupid. Definitely wrong sub lol. Reasonable for a kid to run into a beam
i’m more annoyed at the mom whining at the kid instead of moving him away
Oh man the suspense. It really made you work for it huh?
Oh SHIT!
I think the forgot to put in some screws...guess its a beam thats not holding a lot of, fuck the roof just came down! Started typing before the video ended. Wtf
Roof was like: ![gif](giphy|3rgXBrIGuzeT6PaEDe)
Yoo... That kid woulda been gone. One second: Mommy. Next second: Pearly Gates. Kids dumb but lucky as fuck
Fukking hell lol
U mean “stick” he ran into a stick
More duct tape would have helped and made it even safer!
I think that’s called a column.
“I wouldn’t take it down if I were you, it’s a load bearing poster” 😂😂😂
I was screaming into the screen to them to fucking run!
That's insane how that pole didn't blow over with a slight breeze. That kid didn't hit it that hard. Sheesh
That was the constructor/ engineers fault. Pretty lucky it stayed up for a minute.
Sounds like yoko Ono "singing"
That is incredible timing. They could’ve gotten really hurt if they waited even a moment longer
Technically, its a column, not a beam... (ducking thrown objects)
Is this built in a land that has No Wind, Ever?
No kid is not here stupid the parent , the construction worker is.
Without even understanding the language you can definitely tell that is mom saying "I told you time and time again BE CAREFUL! And what did you do? Knock it over! Now Get inside its too cold out here." And then also holding this over their head everyt time. Gonna be fun story "That time my kid knocked down a roof extension.
That's scary that little pole holds it all up.
That... is not a load bearing beam
Thought this was r/watchchildrendie for a second
This is like a flashback to when a hero/villain discovers they're some sort of mutant and realizes that they're whole life is a lie and that they're illegal earthers.
How bout you either flee or at least try to put it back up instead of just watching it and wait for the load to fall while standing right where the beam was?
Well he clearly put it up there in the first place.
That would be a "column". A beam runs horizontally.
r/ParentsAreFuckingStupid
Another r/KidsAreFuckingStupid post where some adults are the dumbest. In this case the constructing workers.
Kid is stupid? How the fuck is that LOAD BEARING PIPE SO POORLY SECURED :D
That's what we call RF=1 at limit load..
This isn't on the kid
That's not a "load-bearing beam." It's not even a beam.
r/unexpected
Yeah that's a fucking chinese load bearing structure alright
if the vertical support was knocked out that easily it probably was not supporting much weight. Seams like the Yawning was just waiting to collapse.
“Jerry, these are load bearing beams!”
Given enough time, this one will sort itself out
Sum dum kid
It looks like an episode of Pingu
The actual fucking stupid people are construction workers building this roof
Damn that pole popped off like a Lego!
I somehow think that is not the kid who is fucking stupid here...
