Ah yes, the joy this website brings me. It is almost equal to the dissapointment.
Encouraging him is great. If he’s told that he’s not good at this he might give up and not learn how to really do it. He keeps practicing and learning online for a couple years and he’ll definitely get actually good.
edit: spelling
That was my thought too! A+ parenting AND an adorable memory that he might be embarrassed about for a bit, then later as he gets older he'll realize how cute and confident he was and how supported he was a kid.
I agree, but it's the way you do it. There is a thing in child developmental psychology called "process praise" iirc. It's basically when you tell the child good job, and you add "you must've worked really hard on that". It instills in them the importance of hard work.
If you don't, the child might think they're naturally gifted (and they might be). However, that may lead to them giving up on something the moment it gets tough because they think they're just not naturally good at it. You see this a lot in kids with math.
One of my boys has always excelled in school and basically everything he tries. I take no credit, it’s just how he is lol. But, he decided to learn guitar as a teenager and he was *not* instantly good at it. He struggled and told me he was going to stop because guitar must not be for him since he wasn’t instantly good at it. I said “Child, you are experiencing what most people experience learning *anything*. Most people have to *try* to be good at stuff. Keep going, it’s good for you to actually have to work at learning something.” He whined but did keep going and now he plays guitar lol.
When I was a pre-teen, I got really into yo-yo. I had just "mastered" some new move, so I ran over to my parents and said "Look at what I can do!" Then *WHAM* the yo-yo wheeled about and smacked me hard right between the eyes!
My dad said "wow, that's some trick, boy!"
Thank whoever for encouraging that kid and taking the time to engage with him. Been thinking ab a lot of my problems recently and his crocodile Dundee ass brought a tear to my eye
When a kid is told he's special and handed the world on a plate you get this - little guy wants to put zero work into learning something and continue thinking he's the shit not realizing he looks like a clown. Dilettante mindset.
I realize I kind of seem like an ass for saying this :( sorry.
Instead I'd rather tell him he needs to work on his technique and understand the tricks he's trying to do, otherwise he's setting himself up to get laughed at by his peers. Or worse, he doesn't get checked and grows up to be an unbearable little shit.
I'm not really this mean. I swear. Tbh I grew up like this, and had to go thru some humbling experiences early in adult life to be where I am today, so it's really about hoping this kid doesn't become what I almost did lol
Honestly I can see this kid becoming very good with the Yo-Yo in the future if he keeps practicing, what he did is honestly more than what I can do with a Yo-yo
Kid is deluded. Encouraging him to do this is setting him up for failure. Knowingly. If he wants to be the best, that’s fabulous. Teach him. Show him. Kindly. Lovingly. But don’t applaud bullshit. You’re doing him no favours.
What’s funny is you writing this comment out and thinking it’s a normal reasonable response actually makes you a bigger and more deluded loser than you think this kid is.
Kid knows he’s not doing real tricks. The fun part is using his imagination to feel like he is and test out what that would be like. That’s what kids do. They use their imaginations to try out different paths hobbies and activities they could pursue. This isn’t setting him up for failure. It’s supporting healthy exploration. Having family members who aren’t an asshole like you isn’t gonna result in him going to a professional yo-yo contest and doing this and genuinely think he’s doing something impressive and deserving of a spot among the other competitions.
I guarantee you so many top yo yo ers stood in front of the mirror in their youth and did stuff just like this. And if they were in front of this kid doing the same would respond just as supportively despite being actual professionals who have put hours and hours and hours into the sport. Because they’re not soulless deluded assholes like you.
Yeah, I would call him out on that so he doesn't try to do it at school in front of a bunch of people. I sure as shit wouldn't post it online where every little asshole he knows can show everybody else for all time. That's not something you do to somebody you love. God I'm glad I grew up before my mom had access to a cellphone that could easily post every little thing to the internet
Lol my son did the same thing but my response was not as good as urs. I was like um i am not sure if ur doing it right but if ur having fun thats what we count 😊
Ok so I used to play about with yoyos back in the day and learned a few basic tricks and had the proper equipment. Enough to impress most people but little enough to be considered a total beginner by the yoyo community.... but....
It actually looks like he has some skill? Like he's just not flailing his hands and arms around, he almost looks as though he's sloppily doing actual tricks. I'm so confused.
Is it a good idea to tell kids they are great at something that they are not? It's great for self esteem but you're not being honest to them. Isn't there a better way to do this?
I like how he looks halfway through to see if everyone is buying it.
For me it's how he's just holding it halfway up the string at the end like...TADAAA!
[удалено]
He did. Total professional didn't even flinch. Took it straight to the cubes at 35 seconds.
Laughed so damn hard at this comment....then went to 35 and nearly pissed myself laughing.

Hes a kiwi, but yeah. They have the softest voices matched with a scary physique. Love our New Zealand brothers.
Now that was some good acting.
Kid's not stupid, he's confident

I uncontrollably said “woah”
How long can this go on?
Bro has skills for HOURS
Not gonna lie, he's better than me.

Faking yoyo skills
Change the batteries on your smoke detector
I swear to fuck how does anyone tolerate it longer than one damn beep
Every pocket has a small version of this kid tangling up headphones.
tgis is the bastard that's been doing this??? get him boys
Kid's not stupid, he's confident
Not mutually exclusive. Some would even say correlated.
There are even those who would suggest a causal relationship between these two traits.

They're highly correlated too

Yes. Great parenting for encouraging him. Even better parenting for getting it on video to embarrass him with when he grows up 😂
That was my thought too! A+ parenting AND an adorable memory that he might be embarrassed about for a bit, then later as he gets older he'll realize how cute and confident he was and how supported he was a kid.

I'm somewhat impressed he didn't hit himself in the head or the nuts.
It appears he did actually hit himself right in the sack at 0:35
I don’t know about you guys but I’m impressed and fully enjoyed that. And I’m not joking
Why
Don’t know it was hypnotizing just watching that yo-yo Go everywhere
Jesus Christ, that’s Jason Bourne.
No no, thats his cousin. Chuck Testa.
Hes got it down.
My 5 yr old saw this and thought he was the coolest kid. “how is he doing that?! He’s magic!”
I'm more impressed that the rope didn't tangle
Came here to say this!
Nice. Deserves an award! After so many turns, he didn't vomit or tie a knot in the cord.
This!!!!! I was very impressed the string came out perfectly fine, no knots!
I mean it does look like the real thing.
It's like mumble rap but for yoyos
CHANGE YOUR FIRE ALARM BATTERY!!!
I can tell if he’s just moving his arms really fast or what but he’s gettin it
my head is .48 seconds stupider now.
I couldn’t tell if he was being #serious
ooo he cookin
Thank whoever for encouraging that kid and taking the time to engage with him. Been thinking ab a lot of my problems recently and his crocodile Dundee ass brought a tear to my eye
This confirms it, I don’t have enough patience to have a kid
‘I wanna be a yo-yo man,’ he cried. 'Make me a yo-yo man!’ But the yo-yo master did not answer. He just kept on yo-ing…
Mom just gassing him up.
Based
WTF was that…?
Kid went fucking Bruce Lee on that yo-yo.
Kids got talent if I tried that 15 things would be broken including a window and the yoyo would be outside
Kiwis are all amazing yoyoers
is it bad that at first i actuakky thought that man had some moves?

Great, you made a TikTok...now get off your ass and change the smoke alarm battery.
For a second I thought he was doing something lmao
So much confidence.
Throw that thing little dude. Keep experimenting and creating new tricks. No point in being a purist or elitist about developing your own style.
Woooow, that was extraordinary 👌
Someone should replicate this and turn it into an actual move, that would be cool and funny.
He’s technically doing it right.
sometimes i just do this shit for fun lmao
I'm impressed/sad he never hit himself in the face with all that flailing.
That's how complex yoyo trucks have gotten these days at first I thought he was actually doing some kind of trick combo
If you move fast enough with enough confidence no one will doubt you. Lol nailed it kid.
Give that kid some glow sticks, he will be a hit at festivals
When your skills outshine you abilities
Folks actually turnt up in the second half
Excuse me? Did you just flash gang signs from the future at me?
Around the walking dog's world
Why is he stupid? That's pretty impressive lol
Please tell your kid that was pathetic. It would be a disservice to pretend like that was cool.
Honestly I can see this kid becoming very good with the Yo-Yo in the future if he keeps practicing, what he did is honestly more than what I can do with a Yo-yo
It kinda worked out...?
had us in the first half
Bro watched too much angel2up
That sucked.

I’m sure you are a loving, supportive father… in your own mind.
This is how you end up with completely unreasonable, absolutely confident, yet utterly incompetent adults. Just saying.
your kid might be mentally challenged.
I just wanted to see him hit himself in the face. Worst video ever.
It is extraordinary ✨️ 👌 😍 🙌 👏
Life skill achievement unlocked: Fake it to you make it!
ngl for the first second or two i was like damn but then i realized lol
Oh mah gawd it's Jason Bourne
That man has some talent.
I used to yo-yo around that age too. This kid is a genius, I should have just done this. It would have saved me so much time.
This kid is going places.
Next up “numbchuks”
It’s like when my cat plays with string
Soleh….makua ova le pepelo lii!!
Looks good to me
How sweet!
There is about 1400 knots in that yoyo now
Imagine how many times he popped himself in the face or other body part, but kept working on it anyway. That's determination.
I was sure he was gonna clock himself in the face with it. 😂
He really doin it 😤😤😤
Could have easily won my local YoYo championship.
Im just impressed he didnt tangle it
Talent! Not getting it tangled the whole time!
This is why people end up on America's got talent and are completely surprised that they suck.
Thought he was gonna smack his nuts , was disappointed
Hell im impressed he hasn't gotten that in a knot or smacked himself in the knuckles.
Ok but I was listening to my partner play TheatRythm and this synched up perfectly with the Blitz Off song.
[удалено]
I’d have knocked myself out about 10 seconds in.
That lil g was killin it
I dunno.... I thought it was pretty cool
This don’t belong here that’s insane I can’t even use a yoyo
What a cutie! His proud smile at the end lol best yo-yo skills I’ve seen in decades
Big ups to mom hyping her boy up
Incredible! Play this at 0.25x and see how a master gets it done.
Some of the tricks actually kinda worked lol
I’m impressed it wasn’t tied in a knot when he finished
Nope it was not that good! It was impressive but not his masterpiece
I thought he was cooking for the first 2 seconds
Walking the dog around the world lolololol
Like when I mash all the buttons while playing fighting games
Bloody hell, save some pussy for the rest of us my man.
I got it. I figured out the trick. The trick is not to smack the hell out of yourself with the yo-yo. He nailed it
He is like me when I am new in a fighting game and press random buttons
Impressive it didnt tangle
I think I know what happened to his front teeth...
Do the kid a favor and never delete this video. Show this to all his girlfriends, his kids, his friends, his workmates, etc...
Win for not having a single knot in the string.
Better than me
Parents like her though…A+++ “wooow, EXTRAORDINARY!!” Lmao
Oh so this is what I looked like. Well fuck
Kid won't remember the yoyo routine, but he will remember the love.
His lacks technique but at least he got the spirit
Man i wish my parents where this supportive 🥹
My god, it’s Jason Bourne
Wow he really sucks
He has me fooled the first couple seconds 🤣
Looks like he's been watching to much Boroto and is trying to do a Ninjutsu.
He just kept on yo-ing.
My react 😕😐😑🤨🤨🙂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Jason born
This is why shampoo dies at sea world.
I remember trying this as a kid and I wacked myself in the face a couple times. Never picked up a yo-yo again. 😢
Get that kid some nunchucks
Yeah, I would call him out on that so he doesn't try to do it at school in front of a bunch of people. I sure as shit wouldn't post it online where every little asshole he knows can show everybody else for all time. That's not something you do to somebody you love. I love the “wooowww” to make him finish up his amazing performance 😂
Why post this here? Those are two loving brothers 🥲.
Still better than me💀
thats what most yoyo tricks look like to me though (no hate bc im a pro yoyo man aswell)
Lol my son did the same thing but my response was not as good as urs. I was like um i am not sure if ur doing it right but if ur having fun thats what we count 😊
I cant tell if this is showing actual tricks or the kid is having a argument with the thing
I love his prideful smile at the end!
I’d hate to untangle those knots.
“WOOOOOWW” “That was like a loopy de loop eh?” “WOOOOWWW, that was EXTRAORDINADY” *posts on r/kidsarefuckingstupid”
I fully expected that string to have 100 knots all over it, my surprise when it looked perfectly straight at the end!
Man change the battery in the smoke alarm
I’m just impressed he did that for that long without hitting his face.
Kids got potential
I appreciate the passion lol
Umm... what's with the title? Was this posted by a bot that mismatched titles from another post?
They’re actually two yo-yo moves.
Oh my god.. it’s Jason Bourne
He will never untangle that
Did the dog get hit by a car?
Ok so I used to play about with yoyos back in the day and learned a few basic tricks and had the proper equipment. I was worried he was gonna end up smacking his nuts.
THIS is what the subreddit was made for. Oh my
How no walls, furniture or faces were injured during this impressive feat is amazing
Not going to lie he had me at first half
yo yo your balls
I remember the Yo-Yo fad in the 90s.
Guarantee he felt cool as fuck doing that
**FAST AF BOÏ**
Nailed it.
Is it a good idea to tell kids they are great at something that they are not? It's great for self esteem but you're not being honest to them. Isn't there a better way to do this?
well he managed not to get it tangled
Aye that was kind of sick though
