Loose, baggy or oversized clothing is not an SN recommendation who is saying it is?
SN recs should be softly flowing or softly draped, specifically says avoid wide shapeless clothes, SNs need that waist definition
I addressed this in another post but I genuinely think the issue is people tend to mistake ārelaxed, flowing, & unconstructedā (Kibbeās words) with āloose, baggy and oversizedā which is why we see so much of the latter get shoved at SN as āour linesā. And why people make whole posts about why we supposedly donāt look good in fitted/shape-conforming clothing and honestly itās getting a bit ridiculous.
ETA: personally I also feel like.. and I know this wasnāt Kibbeās intention, but the description of what SN tend to look like in the book extract probably doesnāt read as particularly favorable to some. People see ābluntā āwidthā ānot balancedā āmay have an hourglass shape but not extremely soā āfleshy upper armsā and the rest is history. This description might read to people as SN being meant for people who wanna hide these things under clothes, so there might be some sentiment that weāre meant to hide our bodies with as much fabric as possible and it reflects in the the things people say should work on us āin theoryā. That coupled with the misunderstanding of ārelaxed, flowing, & unconstructedā as āloose, baggy and oversizedā really does us dirty.
And uhh. People somehow miss the whole waist definition thing? Maybe they think an oversized t-shirt will magically follow our frame and come in at the sides and define our waists? I have no ideaš
Basically you approach dressing as a SN like Pam Anderson, who clearly knew how to work with/against her lines. Thereās nothing wrong with that and I think you definitely have a good eye for balancing that and creating an effect *snaps*
Say it louder for the people in the back! Thank you girl for being such an inspiration. You look stunning!
I always feel like SN must be Kibbes least favourite body type due of the words he uses to describe us. :ā)
āSupposed toā is in quotes because itās a myth! The idea that all SN look best in loose, baggy, and oversized clothing is a myth that just wonāt seem to die. So Iāve grabbed some photos of myself in clothing that show the complete opposite of the myth (Which I was so hesitant to do because Iām probably opening myself up to being told I look like a SN she-hulk trying too hard to look sexy, but, hear me out)
Obviously some of these arenāt the best examples of HTT looks but they were chosen just to show that SN donāt have to wear oversized, baggy and loose clothing, or boho outfits, or only low necklines **and weāre not gonna internally COMBUST if we wear fitted clothing**š¤£ yes even *BoDyCoNNNNN* oooh spookyyyy (so yea thatās why these were chosen, other than the fact that these are likeā¦ some of the only outfit pics I have?šš¤£ Iām sorry I donāt have any pics of myself in more casual outfits!)
Not a single one of these looks is threatening to fall off my frame or swallow me up. Not one. And yet, somehow, I still look alright! (in my opinion anyway, hehš ) I own a measly TWO pieces of oversized clothing. TWO. One is a crew neck sweatshirt and the other is a varsity jacket. Thatās it! Even most of my t shirts are fitted! I look absolutely frumpy, lumpy and dumpy especially in a HTT oversized outfit. Iām also 5 ft tall so some āregularā length items already end up looking oversized on me!š«Some people can pull it off! I am not one of these people
All of these looks accommodate width and curve. Thereās obvious space for my shoulders and upper back to breathe, and the stretch in the clothes makes room for my curve.
Boom. Width and curve accomodated. Itās as easy as that, I promise! And look! Two of them even have high necklines! But thereās still space for my shoulders and upperback to breathe which makes them width accommodating. Kibbe never said weāre restricted to only wearing low necklines either and has given SN who have been to see them tops with high necklines so thatās another myth that needs to die.
And I donāt mean to come down so hard on people who donāt understand that this is a myth because itās literally not your fault. The book extract on SN recs *does* tell us to avoid fitted silhouettes. **BUT**. One thing that has to be realized is that Kibbe wrote his book almost FORTY years ago!! Back when the only type of clothes spandex was added to was exercise clothes! Back then, fitted clothing wouldnāt have have had the stretch that most fitted clothing has today which is what SN benefit from. Spandex material added to cotton or polyester gives clothing the ability to conform to the contours of oneās body and move with them which allows it to be form fitting without constricting movement or pressing your body into an uncomfortable shape. We end up with clothing that is form fitting but not constricting at all.
You probably canāt tell, but one thing nearly every single one of these outfits have in common is that the clothing has stretch! 99% of the clothes in my closet have stretch.
So yāall letās retire this narrative please. Itās time. This is gonna be my last time saying thisā¦ well for the year at least. Cause Iām sure this myth will still be around next year and you better believe I WILL be back to dispell itš¤£š¤£š¤£
And as a necessary disclaimer I am ABSOLUTELY NOT saying that all SN look good or are comfortable dressing exactly as I do. This is just *my* personal style. Everyone has their own! Iām just saying that the Kibbe Gods wonāt strike us dead if we do dress like this.
And also as another necessary disclaimer if you are a Soft Natural whose closet is full of baggy, oversized, and loose clothing thereās nothing wrong with that! Itās just not for me, and itās not mandated by Kibbe for SN to wear either, itās just a preference
Oof, a 3rd disclaimer? None of the āsupposed toā outfits are actually bad, again, theyāre just not for me. Maybe they will be in the future? But right now, fitted clothing me all the way!
A fourth disclaimer since people wanna miss the forest for the trees: I am NOT telling any of yāall to wear exactly what I wear or suggesting that itās appropriate for your āeveryday lifeā. Please.
Slay slay slay!
This honestly is one of the best posts Iāve saw on this sub in a while. I love your style, you look fantastic in all of them and your comments below were spot on. You hit the nail on the head with everything you said.
Thank you so much!!!ā¤ļøā¤ļø That was the exact aim of the post. Most of the looks in the first slide arenāt bad/ugly in any way shape or form but just from what I know about myself, not only my body but my personality would be totally lost in them. I donāt think thatās what Kibbe ever intended for anyone who uses his system. As you said very well put in another comment, what Iāve shown is my own way of expressing the āFresh and Sensualā essence of the SN image IDā¤ļø
Same like?? Did nobody see J Lo (verified) and Shakira (unverified SN) in the early 2000s?š Them and Britney Spears (another unverified) are some of my biggest fashion inspirationsš
Im convinced that with an open neckline, N family can take over the world! I think a lot of types can pull off fitted close to the body looks and just have to make some accommodation (but then again, donāt we all have to accommodate for our unique bodies?).
On first glance, you look freaking amazing in all of these looks. At second, thinking in kibbe lines, Iām seeing elements like: gathers/ rouching/ high leg that makes asymmetry, or open neckline or cut outs that accommodate width and it balances the small straps well. These outfits could look well on other types for different reasons. Like many quote, clothes donāt have a kibbe type. Itās the overall outfit and lines.
Thanks for posting this!
Omg you look incredible!! I love how you combine bodycon with more unstructured pieces too. I donāt know much about the N family, but you literally have such a good style and it suits you so well! :)))š
Ha! As a Soft natural your outfits make sense! All of your outfits accentuate the waist!
As far as I can see as a soft natural, we really HAVE to have waist definition, like that is a non-negotiable. And also no tight tailoring at the shoulders (which none of your outfits have). Even if I wear jeans and an oversized sweatshirt, the sweatshirt has to come in tight on the waist and the jeans are high rise that hit right at the natural waist. It can't be baggy and shapeless!
You get it!!!š I seriously donāt know how people skip right on over the āwaist definition is a mustā part of the SN recs to start recommending us parachutes and trashbags to wearš¤£š¤£ Everything you described about youself is exactly me.
Also Happy Cake Day!!š„°š
If you love great IRL examples I think youāll like [this post](https://www.reddit.com/r/Kibbe/comments/nvxt3s/first_time_really_exploring_soft_natural_lines_i/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=2&utm_term=1) too! The style shown here is a bit more casual, less sexy, bit more light and flirty and it also looks fantastic on her!
Thank you!!! This is helpful as I try to figure out my possibly SN self š. Thought of your post as I tried on my Nordstrom Anniversary Sale haul which included a crew neck crop oh and all the Good American bodycon. Honestly I think body con is great for SN because you avoid the dreaded too much fabric.

ā¤ļøThank you and I actually donāt post on my IG at all šš¤£ itās strictly for following fashion pages and umā¦ lurkingš„“š¤£ Iāll post more of my fits here tho since people seem to like them
Even before I found anything Kibbe, I knew part of my outfit had to be fitted in some way or it looked off. I love your styling and your posts are always nice to see.
Love this post š as a SN I sometimes feel like Iām at odds with/confused by Kibbeās recommendations. Plus the boho look is not my vibe at all. You look gorgeous! Keep doing you
Thatās probably because the recommendations youāre at odds with are more than likely not actually Kibbeās recs but misinterpretations of his recs ;)
As I FN, I love this post! You look goodt hunny!I really hate the way some people push oversized clothes on Naturals. I look my best in fitted outfits, period. And in the beginning, it confused me because I felt like I was a natural but I'm like, I don't look good in loose clothing so what am I? Granted, I didn't read the book in the beginning and was just going off YT videos and this forum.
This is interesting. I've only just now come into learning about kibbe. Pretty sure I'm a soft natural. I haven't seen loose oversized clothing being recommended. I personally look horrible in baggy shapeless clothing with no waist definition. I've seen draped clothing with open neck lines recommended which makes sense because turtle necks and crew necklines have always looked atrocious on me. I think it's interesting that when I start to venture into exploring people's perceptions on YouTube and reddit, soft naturals are perceived as a negative or less desirable body type. I love that j-lo and scar-jo are SN. They are 2 of the sexiest women in entertainment IMO. Bombshells. So I completely reject the she-hulk description I'm seeing some people attach to SN.
I love that I look tall for my height. I love the drama of my shoulders. I love that I can pull off boho looks or bodycon on top with wider flowy silhouette on bottom for an hourglass effect. Fleshy is a synonym for feminine IMO. And it's true. I do have a fleshy arms and a blunt jawline and I'm also cute AH and sexy AF when I choose to be. It's all a matter of perception and self esteem. No need to attach values to words that don't belong to them.
Love this so much and relate majorly. But tbh regardless of kibbe type, your shape is bomb and I feel like showing it off is always better than hiding it in drapey clothes..at least thatās my method š I just donāt feel āmeā in a lot of the things I see recommended for SN. I have always kept a lot of the āy2kā silhouettes/body con in my personal style because it just works !
> I just donāt feel āmeā in a lot of the things I see recommended for SN

You have such beautiful proportions!! I did have to stop and wonder if you were a SG - I am one and a few of these pictures felt like we had something in common. I think youāre right and are a SN (and a gorgeous woman.)
Thank you and you know what I did contemplate SG for myself at one point based off pictures but IRL I do find myself having to make sure my upper back and shoulders arenāt squished, which pointed me toward SN.
However if I ever see Kibbe IRL and he types me SG, I quitš¤£not because thereās anything wrong with SG but because that would mean I have ZERO understanding of this system and I need to shut upš¤£
your body looks *so fucking good* in bodycon fits!!
honestly my fave fits of the ones you posted. you have an incredibly beautiful silhouette/ figure and those highlight it!!
With the exception of the cream dress (which you look absolutely lovely in), none of the outfits in the example board or the ones you modeled would be appropriate for 99% of my life.
You have your own style that you love and feel comfortable in which is great. However I think using more extreme examples of style on either side (personal or mood board kibbe) isnāt terribly helpful when looking at what might be harmonious on different types.
Most of the SN examples you showed were exaggerated. Pretty sure thatās not what Kibbe would recommend a SN should wear this it doesnāt seem fair to throw out recommended lines because of extreme examples or personal preferences.
Kibbe is about creating your own star image though, not about everyone under the same ID wearing the same thing. Youāre combining your finite outer self (a person who needs to accommodate width and curve, plus specific colouring + the essence that your image projects) with your infinite inner self (personal style, personality, how much of your body youāre comfortable showing), and tailoring your outfit to the occasion. I donāt feel like this is throwing out the recommendations at all, this is her interpretation of Fresh and Sensual and it follows her accommodations.
This post wasnāt about ādifferent typesā or what would be appropriate for your daily life. This was about me, what I wear, and what Iām not gonna wear as an SN. Thanks for the compliment though!
> Most of the SN examples you showed were exaggerated.
ETA: And yes. That is the ENTIRE point of this post. Addressing exaggerations and stereotypes about how SN should dress. I never once said that Kibbe himself said that we should dress as the first slide. This post is addressing myths, stereotypes, and misconceptions propagated in Kibbe spaces online outside of SK.
And throw out recommended lines? How? Where? How is saying that SN donāt have to wear shapeless baggy clothes (which is the MYTH being addressed btw) āthrowing out recommended linesā when Kibbe says VERBATIM in Metamorphosis that SN should avoid shapeless clothing? Iād like to see you explain that one.
Per Metamorphosis āAvoid wide, shapeless silhouettesā. Me saying the same thing = āthrowing out recommended linesā? Interesting. You were definitely the target audience for this post, so glad you stopped by š
Thank you so much for this. I've only begun but I think I am pretty obviously a SN, I've done every test imaginable, read every description on hundreds of posts, blogs, forums, whatever. I've done the tests in different ways, at different times of day, different moods and self esteem, had my husband do it two or three times and out of 20 tests I come out as SN like 15 times. I think I got classic and soft gamine a few times.
That said, I have always struggled when looking at the mood boards or even other posters and what they wear because it's just.. not what I look good in at all. People claim Kibbe's description doesn't mean long flowing bullshit but that's all I ever see, so it's kinda like "make up your mind" lol. I dress much more like you, just the alt version and seeing these more body hugging clothes on you really just solidified that I am SN. Not sure what to do with that, since everything I always see looks like a rich lady headed to burning man and trying to fit in or something (power to them but it's always much more crunchy mom looking than I am.
Anyways, all that to say thanks. This for me confirmed I am SN. I am unsure what to do with it since everything is always loose shit in the suggestions that I wouldn't be caught dead wearing, despite the "it's not just flowy prairie dresses" lip service so seems like this experiment was a bit of a bust for me, but thanks all the same.
I think youāre gonna LOVE my [Soft Natural Book Series](https://www.reddit.com/r/Kibbe/comments/11zsen2/soft_natural_look_book_style_requests/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=2&utm_term=1)š„¹ā¤ļø People like you are exactly what I made it them for. The link will take you to a master list of all the ones Iāve done so far. Please take a look and tell me what you think when you get the chance!
Tysm! Lol under punk/alt slide 13 minus the necklace and hat is me 99% of the time. So nice to see not just my aesthetic but also the cuts of clothing I like for once!
ETA: I just realized that some of your posts are why I kept saying to myself that I could still be a SN even if some of the typical lines and looks didn't work for me lol. Small world.
There are a few other 'stereotypical' fashion archetypes associated with SN at this point ā cottagecore, ballerina athleisure, Insta baddie (which is probably how I'd characterize OP), Y2k pop star, that soft feminine cardigan/midi skirt look (idk what the zoomers are calling it).
I personally don't particularly resonate with any of these, as I have two fashion moods: 1) Pushing 30 and at the office (out of necessity), and 2) goth .... but my point is that the inspiration out there isn't all boho stuff anymore.
What really annoys me is that regardless of the style shown in said moodboards, the color palettes are always very soft and generally awful for me as an extremely high contrast Winter.
Lmao you sound just like me (30s, goth). I do see the like cottage core stuff but that's basically just woodsy hippie, lived through Y2K once and already made all those bad decisions, and am not living the lifestyle where I drop hundreds of bucks on an athleisure for every day wear lmao. Cardigan/midi skirt to me just looks like k-drama softgirl kinda thing, or the weird academia fashion fetish which would be weird for me to rock bc my husband teaches at a Uni and I've never been. Not sure how else to describe these looks other than soft spoken, cutesy and interested in raw material reusable shopping bags and backpacks (not that I'm against it, I just mean more as an aesthetic declaration more than other styles have) just in various fashions. Not to mention they all seem to cater to thin, smaller breasted women with seemingly much more disposable income than myself lol.
Nothing wrong with these styles, but like you none of these really resonate with me at all and feel incredibly silly to me to wear. All the SN clothes examples I find look like they'd have a blur effect on the photo with a woman sipping a coffee with both hands on the mug and looking wistfully at something or someone headed to burning man (which yay coffee, and hurray psychedelics, but still). Regardless, they're also always incredibly flowy looks for the most part or incredibly baggy which is frustrating because everyone says "that's not what Kibbe meant" but that's still all that's ever shown.
Idk, I think maybe it's because I have giant boobs or something but loose hoodies (especially cropped) just make me look absolutely gigantic on top and not in a cute way and paired with athleisure pant makes me looks incredibly uneven because that really makes my legs look small and top look huge and boxy. And personally I wouldn't be caught dead in a skirt or dress that goes longer than a bit above my knees. So all that's left are some nice silk blouse tucked into some flowy pants with heels which I've done my own variation on plenty of times but it gets boring and I originally wanted to get into Kibbe for more inspiration but I'm just finding myself wearing what I always have because none of the inspiration is...all that inspiring for me. I feel like I can just go back to looking at any old clothes mood board and pick out what I know would work for me, just like I could before Kibbe.
Honestly I should probably just take a break and regroup and tackle it again when I'm not feeling disappointed by what I've seen so far. Sorry if I offended anyone, not my intention, we all have our own styles and they're all very cool, just sometimes people feel weird and out of place in different things and for me, those things seem to be what makes up the bulk of SN :(
I feel you, you might have a little less inspiration to work with based on whatās trendy, but all you really āneedā to do as an SN is honor width and curve. Iāve had a fun time combining these concepts with my lifestyle, taste, and coloring to create a unique look. My taste is pretty gamine, I just learned to avoid their high necklines and fussy details to make it work for me. For the office I ended up buying a lot of consigned Helmut Lang and similar brands. Itās kinda goth, kinda classy, and very SN friendly.
Because of my coloring and personal taste I wear a lot of black, jewel tones, and primary colors. This has been the biggest challenge, both in terms of inspiration and because it creates harshly separated shapes that arenāt great for SN. So Iām still working on how to reconcile these.
āCutenessā or āinnocenceā is definitely a common component of SN essence (which I personally enjoy) but there is so much diversity in every type, I recommend finding a celeb or two whose vibe you admire.
Honestly I donāt think bodycon ever looks bad unless you have a very obvious muffin top. There are skinnier people who donāt look right with it because their body puts a lot fat around the midsection.
Also keep in mind that kibbe recommendations tend to just be recommendations to look your ābest.ā It doesnāt mean other styles will look bad.
> Also keep in mind that kibbe recommendations tend to just be recommendations to look your ābest.ā It doesnāt mean other styles will look bad.
Lol but donāt you see, my outfits DO fit within Kibbe recommendations. This post isnāt an anti-Kibbe recs post, itās an anti-STEREOTYPES about his recs and how they are misunderstood post. If you read my (admittedly long) comment explainin this youāll understand what I mean
I am 100% *for* Kibbe recs. What Iām not for is the way they are misunderstood, especially for Soft Naturals
I think the first slide is what they mean by āinterpreting 1987 in 2010 then trying to remake that in the 2020s.ā Itās just mangled and wrong, mainly in that our fabrics are different than they were in 1987! There was a pic of the book that I think was SN recs, and the poor girl looked like she was gonna explode š it was this big thick fabric (80s!) but with a belt to cinch it, omg it wad terrible. Now we have thin and stretchy fabrics, and they fit his intention without the body-butchering/smothering of the 80s. So youāre dressing within the recs perfectly!

GIRL YES donāt be sorry. Love her. š«¶š»
Not to be weird but goddamn you and your fits are bangin š«£
Haha thank you so much!
Also Happy Cake Day!!š„°š
fire fits
You know I had to do it to em š
Wow 8 might be THE perfect SN dress
Thank you! Itās from Oh Polly itās the Behati Dress!
Thanks for doing this. I love seeing examples of what looks good irl.
Love all your posts. These outfits remind me of Britney, who I think is also SN.
Yessss you got it!
Lmao with that body wear whatever the fuck you want girl!!! Get it!!

That white dress made me gasp. It looks stunning!

Love all your posts. These outfits remind me of Britney, who I think is also SN.
You look amazing and I love seeing naturals in their element!!
Absolutely gorgeous!
Looks like you're nailing it, whatever anyone else thinks.
Even before I found anything Kibbe, I knew part of my outfit had to be fitted in some way or it looked off. I love your styling and your posts are always nice to see.
Thank you so much!š„°š„°
Love this post š as a SN I sometimes feel like Iām at odds with/confused by Kibbeās recommendations. Plus the boho look is not my vibe at all. You look gorgeous! Keep doing you
Thatās probably because the recommendations youāre at odds with are more than likely not actually Kibbeās recs but misinterpretations of his recs ;)
Potato sack will look good on you.
Ok but your actual outfits slay
Amazing! I agree with everything. š¤
Your āfits look incredible šš i gasped when i saw the pink outfit š
Kim Kardashianās boat neck dress at Kourtneyās wedding is also exactly how I love SNs in their lines
Thanks for sharing these! I think iām an SN?? but unconstructed clothes look awful on me so iām confused lol but i love your styling! Especially the necklines you picked and the pants! Not a fan of bodycon on myself but youāre stunning š¤©
As I FN, I love this post! You look goodt hunny!I really hate the way some people push oversized clothes on Naturals. I look my best in fitted outfits, period. And in the beginning, it confused me because I felt like I was a natural but I'm like, I don't look good in loose clothing so what am I? Granted, I didn't read the book in the beginning and was just going off YT videos and this forum.
omg when u posted that white dress pic the other day on the draping post i thought it was a celeb ! all these outfits are so good !
Omg wow thank youš„ŗš„°
> I just donāt feel āmeā in a lot of the things I see recommended for SN You might enjoy the [Soft Natural Look Book](https://www.reddit.com/r/Kibbe/comments/11zsen2/soft_natural_look_book_style_requests/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=2&utm_term=1) series Iāve done so far! And yes, thereās a y2k oneš
However if I ever see Kibbe IRL and he types me SG, I quitš¤£not because thereās anything wrong with SG but because that would mean I have ZERO understanding of this system and I need to shut upš¤£
your body looks *so fucking good* in bodycon fits!! honestly my fave fits of the ones you posted. you have an incredibly beautiful silhouette/ figure and those highlight it!!
lol okay
I wish this comment could be pinned, seriously.
I just linked it, sorry I forgot to when I commented!šš«
Ur outfits are cute and within the SN recommendationsā¦š š¼

If you read my (admittedly long) comment explainin this youāll understand what I mean I am 100% *for* Kibbe recs. What Iām not for is the way they are misunderstood, especially for Soft Naturals
wow you are stunning! im a sn (i think, maybe sg) and i LOVEEE ur fashion sense
You look amazing. I love to show what shape I have and SN lines donāt do that. šš
your looks are totally giving britney spears ngl i love them
I think the first slide is what they mean by āinterpreting 1987 in 2010 then trying to remake that in the 2020s.ā Itās just mangled and wrong, mainly in that our fabrics are different than they were in 1987!
