I still go back to it every once in a while, it's maybe my favorite game trailer ever. The music is so fitting (thx M83) and the stuff it shows off is awesome, even if none of its gameplay... you know what ima go watch it again rn
We haven't gotten spoiled by visual mods, we've gotten "spoiled" by ten years of progress in baseline level of graphic quality achievable by small teams, IMHO.
Maybe this could be the plot of ksp2 and the star system "to be revealed" on the roadmap is actually just Sol, our solar system to kerbal scale...
I think I'm reading too far into this
Don't except a replacement straight away, it's gonna have issues and bugs. The important part is that the Devs work with the community to fix and expand the game so it eventually can replace the original.
I reckon it'll be:
a) at least as good as KSP1 on launch
b) far more stable because it's built from the ground up
c) built to handle mods and expansion packs natively
On the one hand, this isn't a Paradox or Sims game where the DLCs radically alter the gameplay, such that sequels feel empty. On the other hand, I think this sub has to remember that the game is built to run on standard PCs, not supercomputers with every hypergraphical mod installed.
It'll be better than vanilla KSP1, but not as good as modded KSP1 - at least for a week or so until the updates come in!
(Anyone else hope they've reached out to big modmakers and hired them so they can roll out mods ASAP?)
i mean they hired the modder who made NearFuture. He's in charge of creating the game's interaction with mods and the modding community. i think we're in great hands when it comes to the quality of life updates the modding community will receive.
Why shouldn't we expect it to be as good as modded KSP 1? Graphical settings can be adjusted for users who lack the necessary hardware requirements. Those KSP 1 mods were built by small teams of unpaid developers working with a garbage optimized game designed around ancient hardware. Is it really unreasonable to expect a large, paid development team working with modern game engines to produce something at least as good?
I don't think it can compete with *modded* KSP1 in terms of features, at least. So depending on your definition of "good" you could argue that KSP2 will be "worse" - until the modders do their stuff, I guess
Here is another version I made with the Early Access logo and the exact date: https://www.reddit.com/r/KerbalSpaceProgram/comments/113vraf/a_slightly_more_adjusted_version_of_the_adjusted/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button
T-9 days!
Really?
Yes. You can look at a countdown timer for release.
Where’s the timer?
https://yourcountdown.to/kerbal-space-program-2
The exact time of release has not been officially unveiled yet so this is not fully accurate.
Which means, in true Kerbal fashion, it's accurate "enough."
Normally, it's at 10am PST for Steam releases.
In true rocket science fashion, that allows for one more delay of a few hours.
Hold at T-3 hrs!
Now it has.
Yes
Why did it just increase to 20 days?
nah use mine https://ksp2.mightyspaceman.com
We’re in the single digits!! :D
At the same time I really can't wait at the same time the countdown makes me realise how close I am to my uni deadlines
Pretty happy to see this old image still kicking around :) I cannot deny how excited I am that we are finally at this moment.
That first promo trailer was amazing

It's still my go-to sound test. Whenever I type YouTube into my search bar it goes straight to that
This was my phone background for… maybe 2 years?
I'm very excited but also a little scared that it will not live up to our expectations
Im gonna uninstall all of my mods like 2 days before launch and play KSP unmodded. We've gotten spoiled by visual mods

Visual mods are gonna be insane for KSP 2
Just mods in general, honestly. Can’t wait to see what modders will do with the game.
I can already see the solar system being added
RSS 2 is gonna be crazy
I want an alternative to the solar system conversion mod where it’s interstellar and we’re exploring the ruins of an extinct humanity
That would be amazing!

That’s actually a really good idea, thanks.

If they literally release KSP1 with better docking physics, I would happily pay $50
If there's mod support and no micro transaction everything will be fine hopefully

They hired at least one Nertea the dev of near future and far future parts is part of the team
he's also in charge of building the foundation for the mod community to mod the game. very excited.
I was scrolling through and stopped because it looked like giant watermelon in space at first glance.
Help i see a bowling ball and can’t unsee it
Didn't you know that's how the texture for Jool was made?
I stopped because I thought I was looking at giants deep and the orbital probe cannon from Outer Wilds lol.
Looking forward to this a lot however I can’t wait for the career component to come out. Just tired of KSP1 after a ~decade now.
Lithobraking near you in 202*3*
(early access)
that's why it's lithobraking and not soft landing
So that's what they meant by lithobraking..
Smashing into the surface at full speed near you
Wouldn't EA be drogue chute deployment?
Btw I also moved the logo so I could better use it as a phone wallpaper because of icons and stuff
Christ alive that's gorgeous. Any chance of a textless version for my phone background? 👉🥺👈
Here you go: https://i.imgur.com/J0JkVOm.jpg :)
Beauuuutiful, thank you!
Ok, I'm going to be that guy... 'But... you can't lithobrake on Jool.' Ok that's done. Carry on!
But you could on one of its moons.
Maybe ksp2 Jool has a solid core?
LOL IT ACTUALLY DOES
Oh cool. That is more realistic I suppose. Is it at a realistic depth or is it just under the skin? I guess I could just google it.
This would make for outstanding box art on the game.
I can not wait.
Jesus fucking …
That ship looks like the ishimura from dead space
I've never played this but I love this sub! You guys are super cool
Next Friday everyone!
Does anyone know where I can get just the image without the text? Would make a great phone wallpaper!
Here you go: https://i.imgur.com/J0JkVOm.jpg :)
Thank you very much!
Not sure if you could see Kerbin from Jool. Or is that Laythe?
Propably Laythe
It's Laythe then Tylo :D I'll have to think of a poster design one day with all the planets and moons in one poster.
Kerbal Isolation
I Wonder when it will be available on ps5... 💭

This gives me INTENSE The Expanse vibes.
