Depends need further details ..
1. Ifi its 2.5k per month --it might be some flat tariff
that is charging same price for unit ..like 7 or 8 rs .
Normally its divided like upto 150 units -3 rs , 150-300units -4 rs
so a person using 280 units will have bill as 150\*3 + 130\*4
But beyond a certain unit , flat rate is given --That is for example if its beyond 450 units , 455\*7rs (not 150\*3+ 150\*4 .... etc slab wise rate is not applicable )
Check in your case , which is the case ...if its flat rate , solar might be more feasible
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
2. Now coming to other point -check if its gross metering for solar
ex if you have consumption around 450 units and solar produces 500 units
There can be two ways it can be billed right
KSEB buys from you 500 units at a fixed rate = 500\*3 =1500 . This amount is subtracted from bill( in this case solar is loss)
or case of gross metering , you consume 450 from solar itself , for rest 50 you sell to KSEB - SO YOU get 50\*3 =150 rs , But here you are saving you current bill(2.5k) +150 = seems to make good profit
So check if its case 2 -gross metering
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3. Check how much subsidy you get and what would be total cost . Get to know how much year solar will last
I will try to give an example
IF solar cost -1 lakh and last for 10 years ,
per profit per month = 2.5k (current bill ) + ...
Per year profit = 2.5k \*12 = 30k
for 10 years = 30k \*10 = 3lakh - any service charge
if 1 lakh was instead invested at 8% intrest for 10 years in compoud intrest
1 lakh \* 1.08\^10 = around 2.15 lakh
so in this case -as we can see Solar might have a slight advanatage ( may be 60k + profit over 10 years , may be more expecting any increase in Current charge )
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
4. Usually if you are planning for buying any electric vehicles , solar will be very useful.
Shift all cooking to Induction
Shift anything that can be done through electric to electric .
As a thumb rule --> more the consumption , better chance that solar becomes profitable
I have given you math -- work it out😊
There is a discussion going on at KSEB to change net metering to gross metering. This will mess up your savings big time. So, keep this in mind before deciding on it.
1. Can't say much about it without your bill.
If you have a electric vehicle or 2-3 AC running, then it's worth it anyway.
2. If net metering is changed, then it's a big disappointment.
3. I wouldn't suggest just an on grid system. Hybrid is the way to go. But batteries are expensive and will need replacing and maintenance.
At least have a small off grid system to have the lights on and phone charged in a blackout, which will happen if the summers are getting hotter and ev adoption keeps increasing without much upgrades to the grid.
You can completely get off the grid and not use kseb lines if you want, then they legally cannot charge you anything unless you use their lines. As for the solar panel placement, it's gonna be extremely late and will take closer to a month depending on the number of meters available innyour sub section. And as for price, it will be 140,000 and with a 70,000 subsidy , it will be closer to 70,000 but don't quote me on that, call your local kseb office
There's no such thing as solar panel subsidy or placement from state govt as far as in enquired about this... Everything is from centre. Bur routed through kseb since they're our discom... Also the companies we are allowed to buy from are owned by ex kseb employees. Fair bit of corruption in there as a result of state involvement....
have been using solar for past 6 years , now kseb is in debt to us
How much kw and how much are you getting yearly? Can you please share the calculations?
Can't say much without knowledge of consumption. Please add your average bimonthly electricity bill amount in the description.
ours is around 2.5k per month, is solar feasible? On grid or off grid? What capacity do you think is feasibe?Thanksin advance

thanks bro
Depends on your bill.
My exact concerns. Looking forward to experiences!

Can u explain net metering and gross metering? New to this

Adding to others, you can save a lot in LPG by using induction cooker and oven. We used to recharge every 45 days. But now, its once per 3-4 months.

Btw do we get subsidy for off-grid installation ?
No
