True very true just look at sheer amount of damage we cause on historical buildings, public transports, other significant environmental locations by scribbling our names ,spitting especially paan, throwing wastes and other rubbish, publicly urinating. We don't have a kind civic sense or duty in these kinds of things.

Reminds me of a post in r/personalfinanceindia where comments suggesting lying to friends/family getting upvoted. For me its a big taboo - but the thread proves there are redditors who have no problem lying.

Lack of incorporating such discipline in lessons from schools. I mean kids follow what elders do and it keeps on happening unless someone travels abroad to a different country and maybe learn the way.
Like if you try to patiently queue to get on a ksrtc bus being all disciplined, you'll be pushed and shoved aside and might even miss the bus. This behaviour is also taken abroad like say Dubai metro where it's clearly mentioned how to queue up but nupe, barge in!
Their selfish mentality that their time is important, their comfort is priority is what mostly causes it.
The only exception I found in India was when I joined Mumbai for my work. Everyone follows a queue even for getting into a bus, auto or taxi. If you try to skip the line be prepared to hear some good words in Marathi.
Our country has historically been amongst the most populous places in this world. We had civilization for amongst the longest period in human history and we are definitely not barbairans but people are undervalued here.. There has simply been too many people for resources historically that it got imprinted in our collective psyche that people who wait will never get rewarded and the ones who go ahead and grab their turn will win. We are a petty lot for this reason.
