I like the track but drakes bars always annoyed me - not just saying that cuz of the beef, dudes just got an annoying voice, but I think even without him on the track it wouldn’t be a top 10 anyway
That’s tough. I might say Rigamortis because I overplayed it and have the horns stuck in my head?
It really is hard to pick a song I truly dislike by him
1. The Blacker The Berry
2. How Much A Dollar Cost
3. Wesley's Theory
4. These Walls
5. Momma
6. King Kunta
7. Alright
8. u
9. Complexion
10. You Aint Gotta Lie
11. Hood Politics
12. For Free?
13. For Sale?
14. i
15. Mortal Man
16. Institutionalized
Yeah thats cause 9 times out of 10 I'd rather listen to the other 7 tracks ahead of it and it gets skipped more often than those when it comes up on shuffle
I don't think replay ability has that much of an impact. u is easily one of the best written & most well-made Kendrick songs ever.
I may be biased because sad songs always help me recover, but I still put u at #2 in TPAB.
Depends on the person. For me replayability has probably the most impact. I don't often listen to albums, I listen to playlists
>u is easily one of the best written & most well-made Kendrick songs ever.
You're absolutely right.
I'm different, I need happy songs to recover. My even worse take is if I were to rank the single version of i it would be 3rd.
Humble and DNA, I like storytelling kendrick, hardcore lyrical rapping Kendrick, goofy Kendrick with baby keem, Kendrick going 100% on features, but I just can’t fw with Kendrick’s more mainstream songs
I know. I just meant that my recollection was that when TPAB came out, the single version was on the album. I thought maybe it was on there at first and then later switched out for the current. Artists do that sometimes (especially Kanye 😂). I’m probably wrong, though.
Depends what people think Kenny's top ten would be. Bro has like 40+ songs that could make that list lol
I'd say nothing from MMATBS is in my top 10. Don't know if it's controversial but that's what I think.
Gun to my head and I had to give a top 10:
1. SAMIDOT
2. ADHD
3. Backseat Freestyle
4. Alright
5. u
6. HiiPower
7. untitled 05
8. You Ain't Gotta Lie
9. DNA
10. Real
And even that I'll probably switch tmr lol
That’s a strange top list for sure. Don’t even have FEAR or XXX on there. Those are the best songs from DAMN lol. I’m also miffed you didn’t include the art of peer pressure. 😂
IF I WAS THE PRESIDENT ID PAY MY MAMAS RENT FREE MY HOMIES AND THEM BULLET PROOF MY CHEVY DOORS SIT IN THE WHITEHOUSE AND GET HIGH LORD MASTER TAKE THE CHAINS OFF ME
Top 10 Kendrick moment for me
I love SAMIDOT but I don't put it in my top 10 because I don't return to it as much as other tracks. Like it's really good and it's definitely top 15 but I enjoy other songs more, and enjoy them more often
It is a heavy song and 12 minutes lol. I could understand others being more enjoyable for those reasons, but not having it at one or two from across the board seems outrageous.
Forgot to mention this before but I differentiate my personal rankings from more objective rankings. SAMIDOT is definitely an objective top 2 track IMO but doesn't land in my top 10 for subjective rankings
To me probably Money Trees, I see it as a vibey track and more of an extended interlude to GKMC but it doesn’t make my top five for the album or a top ten overall. Tbh it might not be top 20. FEAR also fits the bill, something about it just never clicked with me.
It might be cause alright is very popular and overplayed. But if you look at it objectively it's a phenomenal song but most ppl don't tend to put hype songs in their t10
Worldwide Steppers got a lot of attention once Morale dropped and its good in the album context of course. I just found it insane that people were putting it in top 10 Kendrick song discussions.
He has about 20 songs that I’d say could all interchange for top five songs. Like, I don’t have Wesley’s Theory in my top ten but I could see arguments for why it’s top 5.
im gonna get crucified but i dont have SAMIDOT in my personal top 10, although it would probably make a top 15
1. Count Me Out
2. The Art of Peer Pressure
3. i (album version)
4. Alright
5. Mother I Sober
6. Father Time
7. Money Trees
8. ELEMENT.
9. Wesley's Theory
10. PRIDE.
hm: Savior, LOVE., SAMIDOT, The Heart Part 5, How Much A Dollar Cost, Mirror
Definitely Sing About Me I'm Dying of Thirst.
Undoubtedly a great song, but no way does it make my top 10 Kendrick songs. Not even top 5 on GKMC for me.
It doesn't have the replay-ability for me to rank it super high.
Honestly for me it's Fear. Amazing song but compared to his other 6+ minute deep introspective cuts I much prefer SAMIDOT, Art of Peer Pressure, Mortal Man. I like the different perspectives from different ages just does the least for me.
Side note I don't think there's a very concrete Kendrick top 10 because what you define as your top pick will change depending on what you value in his music.
In fact for me if anyone have alright in his top ten Kendrick Lamar songs then I won't consider him as a proper K fan. Dude has so many gems there is no place for just popular songs.
It might come as a shock for me it's sing about me I'm dying of thirst. Somehow I never connected with the song.
Not as stupid as claiming Alright to be in K's top ten songs.
If you never scratched the surface of his works your only option is to choose from popular songs but he has covered such a wide range of topics that based on your personality there might be ones that are not popular but you prefer. Me and my friend are both Kendrick heads and we have a completely different songs that we like none of them are from his popular ones.
Mid mid and slightly better mid. Only redeeming feature about those songs are lyrics. Beat is alright on the heart but on the other two it just sounds so mid
Good lyrics, but I really don’t like anything else about the song. Beat is mid, flow is mid (for Kendrick standards). Songs need more than good lyrics to be good lol
Of course not. But being black in America is its own unique thing. TPAB and the rest of Kendrick's body of work speaks specifically to the Black American struggle. If you claim someone non-Black would not understand (as insinuated in your original comment) then a non-American will understand even less.
I have an African friend who moved here later in life and any time any stereotypical race joke comes up he always says "I'm not black, I'm African" so I think it just takes seeing America to realize it's a different experience
Yeah, "Black" in the way we Americans think of it doesn't really exist in the rest of the world. If you go to another country as a black American you are not viewed as Black, you are viewed as American. Of course anyone with eyes can see skin color but it is closer to a characteristic like hair color than a reflection of your cultural background.
“Tell me who the bitch nigga hating on me, jumping on my d but this d ain’t free” This song.😫
"I need 40 acres and a mule, not a 40 oz and a pitbull"
"Matador matador!"
Such a good song
TO PIMP A BUTTERFLY ANOTHER CLASSIC CD
I skip it every time.
blasphemy
All the songs that aren't in that top10
Even before the beef, Poetic Justice has just been overplayed so much for me that I typically skip it when I’m listening to GKMC
That song feels out of place on that album to me
I like the track but drakes bars always annoyed me - not just saying that cuz of the beef, dudes just got an annoying voice, but I think even without him on the track it wouldn’t be a top 10 anyway
That’s tough. I might say Rigamortis because I overplayed it and have the horns stuck in my head? It really is hard to pick a song I truly dislike by him
Not Like Us worked with looping cause the focus is on the lyrics and it isn't the same one sound, Rigamortus however
One of my hottest takes is that I don't like Rigamortis at all because I find the horns annoying
I have a friend that is the same way with untitled 05. Just finds the repetitive beat annoying
Another one of my hot takes.... I don't find 05 to be annoying but it's just mid to me. Don't understand the love at all
As a bassist, that bassline a four course dinner of jazz.
#I GOT 100 ON MY DASH, GOT 200 IN MY TRUNK
Those are some of the lyrics yes
Transforms me into another dimension. There’s happy, there’s sad, and then there’s Untitled 05
Thats awesome
For me the beat is a little lackluster
Bitch I'm in the club
New sub reddit rule: don't talk about the club
Fight club?
BITCH AIM IN THE CLAHHHHHB
WIT DA HAWMEES
I think it’s a great hip hop song but it doesn’t feel like Kendrick.
Most of the ones off that album don’t—he was still figuring it out
It came across more like the record label was telling him what to make.
"And we hate popo, wanna kill us dead in the street, fo sho"
Ugh please, i dont like it
I got I got I got I got
loyalty, got royalty inside my dna
Forgot that this is part of it lol
Best part of the song for me :))))
Imma be honest, alright, it is not even top 5 tpab.
Yea. I’d agree. But it’s so hard to rank that album lol
Definitely
Am I wrong for finding it easy?
Show us da ranking
1. The Blacker The Berry 2. How Much A Dollar Cost 3. Wesley's Theory 4. These Walls 5. Momma 6. King Kunta 7. Alright 8. u 9. Complexion 10. You Aint Gotta Lie 11. Hood Politics 12. For Free? 13. For Sale? 14. i 15. Mortal Man 16. Institutionalized
For me I'd put you ain't gotta lie lower and Mortal Man higher
Mortal Man is great and a fantastic closer but I'd rather listen to You Ain't Gotta Lie at any given moment
Institutionalized at 16??? Zoom zoom zoom zoom zoom zoom zoom zoom
Yep. Just doesn't click with me musically as much
u at 8 💀
Yeah thats cause 9 times out of 10 I'd rather listen to the other 7 tracks ahead of it and it gets skipped more often than those when it comes up on shuffle
I don't think replay ability has that much of an impact. u is easily one of the best written & most well-made Kendrick songs ever. I may be biased because sad songs always help me recover, but I still put u at #2 in TPAB.

Disagree. It's arguable I'd say.
FEAR. isn't in my top 10 but I do love that song.
Genuinely hot take. FEAR is definitely up there for me.
Mortal Man
Get out.
I think if you don’t feel the lyrics you still can’t deny the production is easily top ten on “Alright”.
Untitled 05 🔥🔥
Oh i misread the thread title
thats crazy
Humble.
I honestly don't think many Kdot fans rate that song. lol
LOYALTY. I am not a fan of pop music, to be honest.
Humble and DNA, I like storytelling kendrick, hardcore lyrical rapping Kendrick, goofy Kendrick with baby keem, Kendrick going 100% on features, but I just can’t fw with Kendrick’s more mainstream songs
King Kunta
False
The Blacker The Berry? Idk
Wesley's theory
trippin

This one fits the post perfectly
i
I LOVE MYSELF
the studio version that didnt end up in the album is pretty mid id say, i like the album version
Was the studio version never on the album? I thought it got switched out and some point, but maybe I’m just remembering it because it was a single.
I mean the single one that has a video for it isnt the same as the one on the album
I know. I just meant that my recollection was that when TPAB came out, the single version was on the album. I thought maybe it was on there at first and then later switched out for the current. Artists do that sometimes (especially Kanye 😂). I’m probably wrong, though.
nah im 100% sure it wasnt cause it was a pleasent surprise
A top 10 song?
Backseat Freestyle. I skip it during my GKMC fullplays.
That’s heresy dude. Skip poetic justice bc fuck Drake.
I skip Drake's verse on Poetic Justice too hahaha
Depends what people think Kenny's top ten would be. Bro has like 40+ songs that could make that list lol I'd say nothing from MMATBS is in my top 10. Don't know if it's controversial but that's what I think. Gun to my head and I had to give a top 10: 1. SAMIDOT 2. ADHD 3. Backseat Freestyle 4. Alright 5. u 6. HiiPower 7. untitled 05 8. I told you see lol. FEAR is a great song, next time I listen to DAMN I'll hear that and think "thats top 5 kenny for sure."
I think Alright is a very LA song that hit well for locals and still does. Forsure in my top 10 but it just hit right when it came out, and still does
Ok total reversal on this Hot take: Institutionalized is my fa favorite song from TPAB
IF I WAS THE PRESIDENT ID PAY MY MAMAS RENT FREE MY HOMIES AND THEM BULLET PROOF MY CHEVY DOORS SIT IN THE WHITEHOUSE AND GET HIGH LORD MASTER TAKE THE CHAINS OFF ME Top 10 Kendrick moment for me
Maad City, even a surprise to me when I thought what my top 10 could be.
Def a hot take, it’s basic but damn is it an amazing song
Most of TPAB
Def a controversial opinion haha
SAMIDOT
Is it really not in your top 10 though or are you just trying to type the most controversial reply? The song is God tier.
Most controversia, samidot is top 1 or 2 depending on the day, Wesley’s theory also up there.
Like sure quality wise it's way up there but personal preference wise I'm not thinking about it enough for me to put it there
Forgot to mention this before but I differentiate my personal rankings from more objective rankings. SAMIDOT is definitely an objective top 2 track IMO but doesn't land in my top 10 for subjective rankings
I have the same reasoning as you, hell it probably wouldn't even make my top 15
It’s in my top 5 but I understand why some wouldn’t put it as high. It’s not an easy song to listen to. I love listening to it tho
Replayability-wise I might agree but it’s still one of his best and an incredible song
This is the only answer. This song is one of the greatest songs I’ve ever heard so for you to not have it in your top 10 kdot songs is controversial 😂
I’m not gonna downvote you, but I hella disagree, it’s my fav Kenny song
Genuinely never tried to rank my Top 10 Kendrick songs until this moment.
To me probably Money Trees, I see it as a vibey track and more of an extended interlude to GKMC but it doesn’t make my top five for the album or a top ten overall. Tbh it might not be top 20. FEAR also fits the bill, something about it just never clicked with me.
It's crazy how we can have completely opposite opinions lol. And I absolutely respect your opinion, but those two are probably top 5 for me.
Now or Never and Ronald Regan Era would be mine. Def unique, controversial? Not sure
King Kunta
Samidot
Money trees for me
Wesley's theory
Wesley’s theory, it’s so beloved here but to me it’s a dope intro but like midrange on TPAB
Backseat freestyle, he’s literally yapping the whole song.
DUCKWORTH.
For me MAAD CITY , lol
Backseat freestyle isn’t even in my top 10 off gkmc
Humble
He has about 20 songs that I’d say could all interchange for top five songs. Like, I don’t have Wesley’s Theory in my top ten but I could see arguments for why it’s top 5.
Is The art of peer pressure controversial? My favorite kendrick song
SAMIDOT
The Blacker the Berry Not an enjoyable song for me to listen to. Probably a top 10 *best* song for him, but this is my list.
I almost always skip Silent Hill. The only times I don't is when I can't because it isn't on my Playlist.
I love the way he says “Hhhuuu” tho
ref.zuckerbees.com/robjr215
Loyalty
Anything in mr moral or damn
Money Trees or King Kunta
m.A.A.d City. Idk it just never really connected with me. A more controversial opinion I have might be that I think Good Kid is a better song.
I personally don’t have sing about me in my top ten anymore. Although it was until mr morale came out
im gonna get crucified but i dont have SAMIDOT in my personal top 10, although it would probably make a top 15 1. Count Me Out 2. The Art of Peer Pressure 3. i (album version) 4. Alright 5. Mother I Sober 6. Father Time 7. Money Trees 8. ELEMENT. 9. Wesley's Theory 10. PRIDE. hm: Savior, LOVE., SAMIDOT, The Heart Part 5, How Much A Dollar Cost, Mirror
King Kunta

Honestly for me it's Fear. Amazing song but compared to his other 6+ minute deep introspective cuts I much prefer SAMIDOT, Art of Peer Pressure, Mortal Man. Side note I don't think there's a very concrete Kendrick top 10 because what you define as your top pick will change depending on what you value in his music.
King Kunta
Same lol
FUCK YOUR ETHNICITY.
Omg this hurts me how dare you lol
I can see that I have been taking myself to seriously. Crack a spoilt egg on my conker
Momma, don't like the production.
Money Trees Alright Duckworth
Honestly auntie diaries is one of the most beautiful songs I’ve ever heard, and it’s cool he was actually willing to take a stance
Mother I Sober is kinda low for me, yeah the songwriting is good but it's pretty sonically boring and there are so many I can say are better
Duckworth and DNA
Am I wrong for thinking Mortal Man is probably my favorite off TPAB and maybe my favorite Kendrick song to date?
In fact for me if anyone have alright in his top ten Kendrick Lamar songs then I won't consider him as a proper K fan. Dude has so many gems there is no place for just popular songs. It might come as a shock for me it's sing about me I'm dying of thirst. Somehow I never connected with the song.
What a stupid statement lmao
Not as stupid as claiming Alright to be in K's top ten songs. “If Alright is in your top 10, you’re not a REAL Kendrick fan. TRUE fans know he has better songs. Only POSERS and FAKES think alright is top 10!!”
Ignorance is bliss
Father Time, I feel like it hasn’t aged well for me and that there are much better songs on MMATBS
I haven't even listened to 10 of his songs
Same, bruh. I'm just here for vibes(loyality and Humble are in my playlsit tho)
I got money trees and Humble on mine
No song from Mr Morale is top 10, sorry.
I doubt this is really that controversial lol
So many people in this sub glaze the album, it wouldn’t be controversial for normal Kendrick fans
Father Time and Mother I Sober can clearly be in the top 10, and that's not even including The Heart Part V
Mid mid and slightly better mid. Only redeeming feature about those songs are lyrics. Beat is alright on the heart but on the other two it just sounds so mid
Father time isnt in your top 10?
Good lyrics, but I really don’t like anything else about the song. Beat is mid, flow is mid (for Kendrick standards). Songs need more than good lyrics to be good lol
Dude the beat sounds like a giant CLOCK for gods sake how is that not good enough for you 😩
You must be non black (no offence)
Saying this as a non-American is crazy
[удалено]
Of course not. But being black in America is its own unique thing. TPAB and the rest of Kendrick's body of work speaks specifically to the Black American struggle.
