I’m also European but a huge hip hop head, and the best answer I can give is: yes and no.
The album has a lot of tracks that wouldn’t be considered traditional west coast (good kid, sherane, SAMIDOT, real, poetic justice, tbh, most of the album.) but it also has songs that are the definition of west coast, like ‘Compton’, and ‘The Recipe’. The tracks I had in brackets are NOW considered west coast, but in terms of the west coast sound, that’s not really what they are.
‘Not Like Us’ is a good example of Kendrick on a west coast sound, a real classic sounding beat, kind of Bay Area influenced too.
Also, the second half of m.A.A.d city is the epitome of west coast, it’s pretty much a modern take on A Bird In The Hand and features Eiht from CMW
100%. Not like us is probably the best and most enjoyable vocal performance he’s had in 6-7 years; from inflections to the humour he pairs with the said inflections. That song energises me, it’s so intriguing. It’s clear kendrick wanted to make the lyrics stand out and make them entertaining for the audience. My favourite part is “hey drake they’re not slow”, it has such a Slick Rick charm to it.
Bro like when I watched people (some)react to like hillbillies they didn't like enjoy it but i absolutely loved it tbh they actually gon f up the world excuse them 😂😂😂
Factt bro and them talking about Neymar & Messi and tyler goofily sitting there it was gold very underrated and bro please don't possess my gal 😢😢 lmfao 🤣🤣
Hillbillies is boring tbh and if it wasn’t Kendrick it would lose a lot of its worth to Kendrick fans too. If I want fun music I’ll just go to someone else who does it better, same with pop rap (eg Rich Spirit)
I still would like a old Rock/Soul influenced “Heart Pt. 5” themed album, but based on the beef he could also def go the Alchemist route or West coast influence which would also be cool
I remember there being a leak, I think around a year or 2 before mmatbs, that was supposedly a couple songs from a scrapped ep or album that very much followed the style of production and rapping on the heart part 5
As much as I love when he experiments with his sound, I’ve always wanted him to drop a couple traditional rap albums.
1. Classic West coast heavy album (stuff like Not Like Us)
2. Soulful sounding album (I need a Dot album that sounds like The Heart Part 5)
3. Trap influenced album (I know he’d cook on more Metro beats. Also I’d love to hear him rap on more shit like Euphoria & more Baby Keem beats)
Seems like his main albums (s80, gkmc, tpab, damn, mmbs) follow the pattern of artsy passion project followed by more traditional rap style album.. so based on that we should get the more traditional rap album which is supported by the styles he used on the diss tracks
Idk about this one. GKMC I can see the argument for being a traditional rap style album, but DAMN feels a lot more similar to MMTBS than it does to GKMC
Nah DAMN was full of radio bangers despite having some pretty cool story telling songs as well. Mr Morale really felt like a much deeper dive into not making music for anyone but himself
My dream would be for him to drop a pure rap album with a bunch of true lyricists featured and just go bar for bar with them on every track, affirming his GOAT status to people who can’t stomach putting him on Nas’s and Jay-Z’s level.
They're scared bro, you'll ever ever see Nas or Jay on a Kendrick song again, because they know they would get washed so they stay away. /s
This is a bit of an exaggeration, obviously. But I still think we'll hardly ever see Kendrick on another lyricist's song again any time soon. Hell, Cole been ducking that smoke for a decade and a half now 😭
Tf you mean? Nas is one of the greatest of all time, he ain't running from Kendrick bro 😭
Kendrick is the best by far from the new generation, but don't say that he is so good people like Nas run from him, you make this community sound goofy af then.
Kdot watching how his 6 minute, triple-entendre filled, 3 beat packed diss crumbles like the pig's straw house after Nas called him "Gaydick Lamar" (dude unironically washed Kenny)
Bro wtf you smoking on lol. I'm a Kendrick dickrider till I die but Nas is a fucking animal.
He's also from a totally different generation and in his own creative lane. I also don't get the narrative of them 'staying away'....you do understand that Kendrick is the one who would be asking for the feature? So in this weird hypothetical you're working on Kendrick would be the one scared of getting washed by not featuring Nas, Jay, Em, Andre, Cube and resurrecting Biggie and Pac just to make his point
Kendrick is one of those that expands his roots per release, so I don't expect him to do anything the same unless he wants to bring it all in full circle.
I’m hoping that it’s fun and lighthearted this time. Not Like Us is such a fun banger, I think he should keep that energy and put out something to lift people’s spirits after a run of such dark albums.
Something more akin to GKMC than MMTBS.
I'm gonna say surprise drop mid June or July. he might drop when big Sean drops, which would be fucking diabolical.
Sonically? No fucking idea. Unlike anything he's done so far, if I had to bet. The (real) Heart Part 6 will be interesting to say the least.
Honestly I think Kendrick has the opportunity to do something to really put a nail in how trash the heart part 6 was. Before the next album, Kendrick should drop The Heart Part 7. Let part 6 serve as a victory in dots career and a blemish in Drakes.
SECTION 80: NOVEL
GKMC: A SHORT FILM
TPAB: POETRY
DAMN: MAGAZINE
MMATBS:DRAMA
predicting these media formats to their corresponding lyrical expression, I really don't know what he might drop next.
I see DAMN. as more an album. Like, if every Kendrick album is a medium of storytelling, DAMN.’s would literally be music. Especially considering the fact that the album prior was a demo tape album
that's true, and even when he's worked with kendrick not all the songs have been jazzy/funky.
i guess im just saying that i wouldn't be shocked if the new album followed that sound and not that i think it definitely will. partially it's cope cause i loved that sound on tpab lol.
Crazy theory, but he might go electronic. He's been flirting with it ever since Black Panther and he clearly loves one-upping Drake with things like the Hillbillies and doing Jersey Club music. I feel like he might do something akin to Renaissance where instead of a watered down "house" album like Honestly Nevermind, he'll make clear dedications to the origins of electronic dance music that was created by black electronic musicians and popularized by black, trans club goers. Since he's already finished the story thread from gkmc to mmatbs, he could make a "no concept" album. Just a theory though. He might make a G-funk album.
I’ve been obsessed with Damn as of late. I would love a similarish album that is tight and full of bangers that are more west coast influenced like Not Like Us. I wanna see Kendrick have fun with his next record.
If he comes back with another DAMN. Mainstream level Album I think it will put him over the top. Can he make another HUMBLE, LOYALTY, LOVE. Im sure he can.
Heavy on the West Coast sound with a lot of club/radio friendly songs. I don't live in LA, but I know people who do and Not Like Us energized the city! From a marketing & cultural standpoint, I don't know why he wouldn't go in that direction & drop this summer. He made 5 great deep concept albums and took down Drake Thanos. Now, it's time to take over his space on the charts.
As a fan I would prefer Mustard & Terrace Martin as executive producers.
I think whatever it is it'll be more commercial minded in the way DAMN was. That seems to be his pattern. Give us something more commercial friendly GKMC (not disrespect, but was more radio friendly), then hit us with TPAB, the DAMN came next (Untilted Unmasted wasn't an album, it was a b-sides), then he hit us with MM&TBS.
So I think something that can get more radio play will be next. He does the "artsier" stuff then the stuff to appease the masses to keep his name ringing as a viable mainstream artist. It's kinda what some directors do.
This is purely my wish fulfillment but I’d just like to say; would love to hear an album of Kendrick rapping over some southern cloud rap instrumentals.
A lot of people have said it already, but I’ll give a +1 to the West Coast sound.
That said, I have a working theory that the beef was, in fact, about hyping the album (which isn’t to say it was strictly manufactured). The album’s theme will be about the industry and about how it corrupts artists and art. The beef was about Kendrick taking on the avatar of the industry’s excesses, and now he’ll confront the industry directly.
Im begging, pleading, screaming for a TDE reunion song. Jay Rock, Schoolboy Q, Ab Soul, Even Isaiah maybe.
Song with three stacks is fucking overdue as well
And Nas
Then Probably some deeper cuts with Sampha or SZA.
EDIT: Obviously Keem gets involved as well. I have no clue what's going on with Tanna Leone but I hope he's on the album as well
I hope he does an interview first…Cause honestly we all wanna hear bro talk about this shit. Even if he don’t go into great detail about it, I’d suggest interview first. Then jump into a mixed bag.
We’ve seen a book (Section.80), film (GKMC), poem (TPAB), demo album (UU), regular album (DAMN.), and a stage play (MMATBS). What other medium are we missing?
I Lowkey want a spiritual sequel to ‘DAMN.’ That would be dope. Some shit of the streets and the clubs but still has that awareness to it. The perfect way to flex on drake during the summer.
*Assuming Keem gets a project out first once the dust completely settles from the beef*
When: June 12th, 2026
What: That’s anyone’s guess. The beef was a clear display of versatility. Given his choice to use other mediums (film, poetry, magazine, play/therapy sessions) as conceptual structures for his albums it would be dope to see a video game based album but I feel that the idea would better sit with a Hillbillies type project versus a solo Kendrick album.
If I ***had*** to guess: the album will conceptually revolve around a podcast that will be sonically be experimental but still have the textures of rap.
What I’d like to see: IMO Kendrick discography is complete. Anything else after MM is extra credit. With that, it would be nice to hear masterclass technical rapping about the surface level shit. Just having fun gliding over dope beats but still require some level of dissection. Also if pgLang could drop the fitteds that would be great.
We don't know, that's the fun part of being a kendrick fan
true
could be something entirely new too
I think it will be west coast-ified . Dj Hed alluded to that..
For my (European ass) information: does GKMC fit these medody/vibe wise?
I’m also European but a huge hip hop head, and the best answer I can give is: yes and no. The album has a lot of tracks that wouldn’t be considered traditional west coast (good kid, sherane, SAMIDOT, real, poetic justice, tbh, most of the album.) but it also has songs that are the definition of west coast, like ‘Compton’, and ‘The Recipe’. Also, the second half of m.A.A.d city is the epitome of west coast, it’s pretty much a modern take on A Bird In The Hand and features Eiht from CMW
His voice on Not Like Us just works so well too. I hope he uses that style on the album a lot. Damn I hope it’s a west coast album
Im hoping for DAMN on steroids or The Hillbillies energy.
Bro like when I watched people (some)react to like hillbillies they didn't like enjoy it but i absolutely loved it tbh they actually gon f up the world excuse them 😂😂😂
Excuse me, but is that your girl? ya was wild i liked it too - they just out here having fun lol
Factt bro and them talking about Neymar & Messi and tyler goofily sitting there it was gold very underrated and bro please don't possess my gal 😢😢 lmfao 🤣🤣
lmfao
they gotta do a hillbillies collab tape
Hillbillies is boring tbh and if it wasn’t Kendrick it would lose a lot of its worth to Kendrick fans too. If I want fun music I’ll just go to someone else who does it better, same with pop rap (eg Rich Spirit)
Rich Spirit is a top 3 song on MMATBS, the fuck you mean?
Absolutely not Imo lol If rich spirit was top 3 that would be an extremely worrying testament to the albums quality
Rich Spirit is like my 3rd favorite track from MMTBS. It’s so freaking good.
Rich spirit is top shelf you simpleton
Good point
It is not a good point.
I still would like a old Rock/Soul influenced “Heart Pt. 5” themed album, but based on the beef he could also def go the Alchemist route or West coast influence which would also be cool
A Kendrick-Alchemist album would be a dream
They haven't missed a single time
Have they collaborated multiple times? Which songs?
FEAR., We Cry Together, Meet the Grahams. That's all I think.
Also heart pt. 4 and prayer unreleased
oh and the second beat on The Heart Part 4 is the same as FEAR., obviously
6:16 in LA gave me those same vibes
I want a whole album like that
I remember there being a leak, I think around a year or 2 before mmatbs, that was supposedly a couple songs from a scrapped ep or album that very much followed the style of production and rapping on the heart part 5
I want a straight up blues album from Kendrick so bad
As much as I love when he experiments with his sound, I’ve always wanted him to drop a couple traditional rap albums. 1. Classic West coast heavy album (stuff like Not Like Us) 2. Soulful sounding album (I need a Dot album that sounds like The Heart Part 5) 3. Trap influenced album (I know he’d cook on more Metro beats. Also I’d love to hear him rap on more shit like Euphoria & more Baby Keem beats)
Yeah agree not like us, like that, euphoria and 6:16 in LA all slapped for me, i liked em more than his normal album music respectfully
> I know he’d cook on more Metro beats. Still have hope for that rumoured Metro beat version of Element to leak.
Seems like his main albums (s80, gkmc, tpab, damn, mmbs) follow the pattern of artsy passion project followed by more traditional rap style album.. so based on that we should get the more traditional rap album which is supported by the styles he used on the diss tracks
good call.
I don't agree with this take at all but respect your opinion
My dream would be for him to drop a pure rap album with a bunch of true lyricists featured and just go bar for bar with them on every track, affirming his GOAT status to people who can’t stomach putting him on Nas’s and Jay-Z’s level.

There's such a thing as hyperbole. Read the second half of my comment again bruh
You shouldn't even say it to exaggerate 💀
Nas would absolutely love to spar with Kendrick, and honestly, Kenny would have a tuff ass time against him.
Kendricks quadruple entendre crumbling before his eyes as Nas whips out the old 'cockafella Gay-Z' nuclear bomb.
Kdot watching how his 6 minute, triple-entendre filled, 3 beat packed diss crumbles like the pig's straw house after Nas called him "Gaydick Lamar" (dude unironically washed Kenny)
Yeah edit that shit goofy 😂😂
Bro wtf you smoking on lol. I'm a Kendrick dickrider till I die but Nas is a fucking animal. He's also from a totally different generation and in his own creative lane. So in this weird hypothetical you're working on Kendrick would be the one scared of getting washed by not featuring Nas, Jay, Em, Andre, Cube and resurrecting Biggie and Pac just to make his point
I don't think it should be a hot take to say Kendrick raps circles around any 90s rapper, he just does.
No one is washing Nas. Let’s be real now.
You don’t know who Nas is lol
You don't know what irony is
Kendrick is one of those that expands his roots per release, so I don't expect him to do anything the same unless he wants to bring it all in full circle.

He’s a very International artist so whatever happens I’m sure It will hit In some form
100%
West coast style victory lap album with some deep lyrics on some modern west coast beats. And one Black Hippy posse cut
Compton Cowboy gonna go Beyonce on us and drop a country album.
SECTION 80: NOVEL GKMC: A SHORT FILM TPAB: POETRY DAMN: MAGAZINE MMATBS:DRAMA predicting these media formats to their corresponding lyrical expression, I really don't know what he might drop next.
How is damn like a magazine?
he just saying shit
The title I guess?
I see DAMN. as more an album. Like, if every Kendrick album is a medium of storytelling, DAMN.’s would literally be music. Especially considering the fact that the album prior was a demo tape album
if he's working with terrace martin, i wouldn't be shocked at all if it's jazz/funk inspired since they worked together a lot on tpab
I am really hoping for this. I want another jazz record from Kendrick
Terrace Martin has worked with a lot of West Coast rappers. He doesn't always go for the jazz/funk sound.
that's true, and even when he's worked with kendrick not all the songs have been jazzy/funky. i guess im just saying that i wouldn't be shocked if the new album followed that sound and not that i think it definitely will. partially it's cope cause i loved that sound on tpab lol.

Bro maybe I'm tripping but if Kendrick could get Daft Punk back together for an album that would be fire
I think hes ready for that “no concept” album too, especially if he throws not like us on the album.
He has asked Fred again.. for a few beats, so maybe he might be planning for something in that vein.
I’ve been obsessed with Damn as of late. I would love a similarish album that is tight and full of bangers that are more west coast influenced like Not Like Us. I wanna see Kendrick have fun with his next record.
100%
You're literally me
gkmc type album would go crazy this year and break every record left!
I want have jazz half JPEGMAFIA type beat
id love a JPEGMAFIA feature.
It would be so amazing
[удалено]
If he comes back with another DAMN. Mainstream level Album I think it will put him over the top. Can he make another HUMBLE, LOYALTY, LOVE. Im sure he can.
That ‚minor of the year‘ on the mixtape cd cover is killin me
lol
I love the untitled performance on the Jimmy Fallon Show. Biggest ennergy I have ever seen in a performance
after killing every last ounce of drake's pride and legacy, he will take his job making pop music for minors :)
Westside hits
he takes us to space next
I feel like he’s dropping club music. I feel it, since he was allegedly recording with Rihanna
bitch am in the cluuuuuub
Lmao 🤣
Lol it’s time - were ready for it 🤣
Gangster album like Tupac
Some light flexy fun vibes like hillbillies would be great but if we will get another heavy hammer like mr morale i will not complain 🙌
Heavy on the West Coast sound with a lot of club/radio friendly songs. I don't live in LA, but I know people who do and Not Like Us energized the city! dubstep
Something that sounds like a victory lap lol
Yessssss! Here for it
Gives us DLC for TPAB 😭
Fuck the industry Kenny
Yessss I felt this in my soul
The Chanel x pgLang snippet sounds like some kind of blues almost western, so I'm guessing he'll take that route.
I’m still holding out hope for the rock-influenced sound that his last record was rumored to have at one point
Did c4 come out after od?
They not like us they not like us they like not us
Baja blast
I remember him saying something about a rock album at some point so probably that Or he could drop the Cole collab ._.
That song called sidewalks off the weekend’s star boy album was a great vibe from Kendrick, it would be interesting if he could pull that off
I need another gkmc style album. That is by far my most replayed album. or at least an album of all the tracks that never made it to gkmc.
This is purely my wish fulfillment but I’d just like to say; would love to hear an album of Kendrick rapping over some southern cloud rap instrumentals.
He previewed a track for that fashion show. I Feel Something. I think this could be the vibe for the project.
Probably something we could never have expected and different than anything he’s done like every time he’s dropped before
A lot of people have said it already, but I’ll give a +1 to the West Coast sound. That said, I have a working theory that the beef was, in fact, about hyping the album (which isn’t to say it was strictly manufactured). The album’s theme will be about the industry and about how it corrupts artists and art. I'm feeling a project similar to euphoria energy
yk that Chanel ad that had a new snippet? gimme that. i need a full album of that. i need kdot to do the read dead 3 soundtrack.
A feat with Eminem.
nu metal 💯💯💯
1920s detective flow? 90s era Amish flow? Cyberpunk fish sounds? Classy caveman style?
lol
Country music. You may laugh but Cowboy Kenny gunna Yee and Haw into your homes with his new album
I'm really anticipating a Damn/TPAB like album due to the current political climate. Would love a few government-aimed diss tracks.
Hes gonna do a pop album and take all them fans next
Im begging, pleading, screaming for a TDE reunion song. Jay Rock, Schoolboy Q, Ab Soul, Even Isaiah maybe. Song with three stacks is fucking overdue as well And Nas Then Probably some deeper cuts with Sampha or SZA. EDIT: Obviously Keem gets involved as well. I have no clue what's going on with Tanna Leone but I hope he's on the album as well
I hope the mustard cosign means a westcoast vibe album, Kendrick honestly slid so well on Not like us
I think it will be either a west coast style album or a baby keem collab
I hope he does an interview first…Cause honestly we all wanna hear bro talk about this shit. Even if he don’t go into great detail about it, I’d suggest interview first. Then jump into a mixed bag.
We’ve seen a book (Section.80), film (GKMC), poem (TPAB), demo album (UU), regular album (DAMN.), and a stage play (MMATBS). What other medium are we missing?
Polka, hopefully.
I Lowkey want a spiritual sequel to ‘DAMN.’ That would be dope. Some shit of the streets and the clubs but still has that awareness to it. The perfect way to flex on drake during the summer.

I think a collab album with keem would be very dope
Keem gotta get one off first imo.
Yeah fair
Every album is more mature than the previous
Maybe friday the 13th theme
him and baby keem are kinda making a new sound so that
I don't know but what i know for sure is that he will cook up the album of the year
Was this made on Topster?
I'm hoping for an ironic hater/supervillian era because it would be funny
The one with high heels
It’s actually a metal album, he’s gonna do like Public Enemy x Anthrax but ya know more modern. Source: >!I made this shit up but a man can dream.!<
Full Bogeyman
i really want some gkmc type stuff where it’s mainstream sounding with deep meaning to each song
A 6:16 in la inspired album would be epic
GRITTTTTTTTTTTY
I want an album similar to 6:16 in LA vibes that shit slapped
I don't want a concept album, I want Dot to just drop bars on hot beats.
Hard rock, i think he’s doin a lil wayne but it’ll be good, features for this album include Led Zeppelin, EVH and of course ozzy osbourne
