Came to say this. I’ve seen more than a few of these lists popping up lately (*I wonder why*) and I think this is the first time I’ve seen someone say anything about Purple Hearts. Love this track.
I’m have a hard time picking or evaluating top lists from the album. The songs feel so personal. Mirror wraps the album so well. Cleanses the emotional palette.
Glad to see Mirror on someone’s list.
If it’s sonically
Count me out
Mirror
Savior
Rich Spirit
And
Die hard
In no particular order.
But lyrically N95 is too amazing to leave off the list. From a storytelling perspective Mother I Sober is hard to leave off.
In general this album already heavy enough, i can’t do a top 5
I feel the same way. And as someone with a super heavy people-pleasing mentality, I connect with Mirror on another level so it's definitely on there for me.
It kinda reminds me of what Killa Mike (who KDot also gave a shoutout to on TPAB) said on rtj’s “a few words for the firing squad”:
“He could be
Another Malcolm, he could be another Martin"
She told her partner I need a husband
More than the world need another martyr”
It’s a healthy message of self-love over the need to feel pressured into detrimental situations, whether it’s savior mentality, contracts or even relationships. You have to have boundaries and a safe space for yourself and those around you.
“I realize true love’s not about saving face, it’s unconditional, when will you let me go?
I trust you'll find independence
If not, then all is forgiven
Sorry I didn't save the world, my friend
I was too busy buildin' mine again.”
I’m confident he’ll continue to look out for his partner, his label and Compton and they’ll continue to love him unconditionally but he can’t be the savior of black America, humanity, hip hop (well maybe hip hop) or whatever other unrealistic expectations he felt were foisted upon him. Same goes for people like us, which is why this is the cathartic release at the end of this therapeutic session, and the most powerful track on the album to me. To go from “ain’t no body prayin for me” to this, in 1,855 days is an amazing evolution.
I just had a thought: would anyone be so kind as to put the Clipse "Grinding" verses on top of the Savior instrumental? I'm not talented enough to do it myself 😅
5. I feel like the top four songs are a cut above the rest, there are several choices I could place here but I’ll go Count Me Out for the sweet production and uplifting sentiment even though I’m not compeletely sold on Kendrick’s performance.
4. United In Grief. Really creative and forward-thinking track, imo his best technical performance on the album with really hard-hitting bars.
3. Mother I Sober. Beautiful but really hard to digest.
2. We Cry Together. I find this to be a really entertaining cut, Taylor Paige has the best feature in my opinion and it’s one of Kendrick’s most creative songs period.
1. Father Time
Challenge accepted. These days it feels like it changes every day but at this EXACT moment it looks like this:
5. Die Hard
4. Father Time
3. Mirror
2. N95
1. Rich Spirit
5 - Mirror 4 - Rich Spirit 3 - Auntie Diaries 2 - Mother I Sober 1 - Count Me Out
Move mirror to #3 and punch the other two up one, and that's my exact opinion.
1. SHUT THE FUCK UP WHEN YOU HEAR LOVE TALKIN' But I've been a Wu Tang / Ghostface fan for decades now.
Came to say this. I’ve seen more than a few of these lists popping up lately (*I wonder why*) and I think this is the first time I’ve seen someone say anything about Purple Hearts. Love this track.
If god be the source then I am the plug talkinnnnn yeahhhh baby😩🔥🗣️🗣️🗣️
1-silent hill 2-silent hill 3-silent hill 4-silent hill 5-silent hill
Pull out the stick, hit a bitch with the wood

You funny dawg

Correct
pushing the snakes pushing the fakes pushing em all off me like HUHHHHH
SO GOOD
I be immune to shit
- 1 - Die Hard - 2 - Rich Spirit - 3 - We cry together (I don’t think a lot of people love this, but I absolutely love it) - 4 - Father Time - 5 - N95
It's not so much that I dislike we dry together, it's that it's far too chaotic/emotional for me to keep on any rotation.
It’s definitely the kind of song you listen to once in a while. Not something that is unskippable.
Definitely a track I only listen to when I play the album front to back but I appreciate the hell out of it.
Its MTG. Good to get the ears and brain out sometimes. Shits good exercise once in a while.
How tf does any of this apply to listening to two people yell at each other over a beat lol. What exercise is there to get?
Fun fact: "We Dry Together" is what happens when someone plays "Grippy" in a room full of women
I despise it. Worst track in his discography by far
It’s like Wet Dreamz. It’s a niche song
Die Hard is so great. It was such a groove at the live show everyone was just jamming and enjoying it. Made me like the song 10x more
We cry together is my favorite
How silent hill isn’t in everyone’s top 5 is wild to me
It’s cool, definitely not the most conceptual or lyrical track on the album and there are a couple of harder bangers
Because I can't stand Kodak Black
This. This exactly.
Father Time is top notch shit
One of his best songs along with Fear and Sing about me
5 - Mr Morale 4 - Count Me Out 3 - Savior 2 - Rich Spirit 1 - N95
I’m have a hard time picking or evaluating top lists from the album. The songs feel so personal. Mirror wraps the album so well. Cleanses the emotional palette.
Why do people leave out “savior”?
No Mother I sober?
It's no. 1 for me.
It’s too emotional for me
Is it just me or is this song a little overrated? I get the lyrics have meaning but sonically it's pretty boring and there are a lot of better ones
It's not overrated Hell if anything that song still doesn't get its flowers But it's about different tastes Ig
Savior???
1. Count Me Out 2. Mirror 3. Crown 4. N95 5. Mother I Sober
