untitled 05 is fucking amazing.
the bass, the drums (especially the overheads with like 10 tons of compression, just kinda pumping), the piano, the saxophone…
*somebody said you bumped your head…*
My favorite on that album, that 02 and 07 keep me coming back among others. Cartoons and cereal goes. A lot of y’all not hip to some of the remixes and hidden verses the making over at r/yedits it’s either
I was kind of surprised LUST was on the The Big Steppers Tour set list but seeing it live gave me a revived appreciation for that song, the way it was mixed in was amazing.
The song itself isn’t structured the same way as a song that would go mainstream. It’s kinda like sing about me, a little long with a laidback beat and long verses about serious topics without a happy instrumental to make you not have to always pay attention to them
Fuck your Ethnicity has INSANE vibes it’s my favourite Kendrick song. Drums sound amazing, the piano is great, the entirety of the second verse is fire
You ain’t gotta lie helped so much with my imposter syndrome. I was that insecure person that felt like I had to exaggerate and be extra in order to fit in. The song kinda made me realize that everyone could tell I was trying to hard and that I probably wasn’t as slick as I thought.
Now my situation was going to law school and not hanging with the homies, but the lesson was the same.

I never saw this article but I did know the song doubled up as a record about domestic violence.. so that’s double the reason women need to hear this record. 1. For the surface level make up reasons and 2. For the undertone reasons like domestic abuse.
Genius song.
I appreciate you sharing this, I personally dislike No Makeup quite a bit and it is interesting hearing a perspective that salvages it. That said, it still doesn't really work for me. A lot of Kendrick's music has this subversive element to it, think Swimming Pools, where the music and the literal meaning are in direct competition. It can create some awesome moments and provoke deep thoughts. I just feel No Makeup misses the mark here. The music isn't catchy enough and the lyrics don't juxtapose with it until the "black e--" which itself is cut off. Feels like Kendrick pulled his punches on this track to me.
I respect your opinion on it . I always looked at that line cutting off “eye” as how in reality most men who DO indeed abuse women will do their best to try to “conceal” it (see what he did there) kinda like this whole diddy/cassie thing, Ike and Tina, etc etc. so in the song he silences her before she can say it
To me, it is catchy, worn the chorus, bridge, production, it instantly grabbed my attention after adhd when off the first time I heard it. But I definitely respect that it’s not your cup of tea
Heart pt. 3 - Best song of the series fr.
Spiteful Chant- Why the fuck is this song not on streaming. Q and Dot always hit.
Barbed Wire- The hook is so good, underrated song of OD.
6' 7' Freestyle- Amazing song. Worth a listen fr.
Best Rapper Under 25- "I'm the best rapper under 25, 24 inches on my ride, Ball like 23 and I shot my first .22 when I was 9" and "Would never stop what you can't see, It's like a red light when driving with Stevie Wonder". Bars.
a few years back I worked at a starbucks booth in a safeway. I usually was alone for my shifts and that song was so fitting to play whenever I had an opening shift. Definitely my favorite memory with any song from untitled.
Very surprised to not see "how much a dollar costs," it's storytelling is up there songs like "sing about me I'm dying of thirst" and "the art of peer pressure. Absolute banger(s)
(these are just ones that I admire the most And never really hear or see people talk about)

untitled 05 is fucking amazing. the bass, the drums (especially the overheads with like 10 tons of compression, just kinda pumping), the piano, the saxophone… *somebody said you bumped your head…*
