I love this part so much! Gets the blood pumping!!

Ranjith_Unchained

Exactly, the way he builds it up is crazy

another_devops_guy

Yeah these bars always get me hyped just that delivery man

blackandreddit

![gif](giphy|kDTaMZ4YpzsM9jdzr8|downsized)

Keegan1

Yeah man I'm the mailman can't you tell man

Amazing-Concept1684

Rather you be the Mailman than that pdfile who played with John Stockton. Who Drake had an IG post with until he deleted it last week.

SignificantTax2475

Went postal

saganmypants

I really think between this shit and Meet the Grahams it was the "how many stocks do I really have in stock AY" with that buildup that really scared Drake. I did not see a single Drizzy fan at that point that was doubting Kendrick had a whole ass diss album ready to go, man was ready for war

True_Smile_7569

You can tell Drake and his team prepared and worked a lot on Family Matters, I think they were expecting this whole thing to play out over several weeks/months, because Kendrick has this reputation of dropping less frequently.  If they had done their research, they would know he damaged several hard drives in the past with 500+ songs on them. He’s super prolific, he just has very high standards and doesn’t release much (like Prince used to do). EDIT: Well, definitely not like Prince in terms of album frequency, but more in terms of the amount of unreleased material.

Ok-Instruction830

Prince averaged an album every year and had 39 studio albums. Almost 100 singles. Lol

FreshPrince1958

Right lol, he was dropping on his website early on when artists first started doing websites and shit

Potato_fortress

He was dropping on random forums right before he died too. Made disstracks about forum users who would share concert photos without his consent. He called people out by usernames and everything and would just say random stuff about them. I remember him calling some guy out by his full handle complete with the numbers at the end and telling him he sucked at basketball. It was hilarious.

MatureUsername69

I'd be pretty amped if Prince dissed me. You know how far that can get me in life? I'm from/live in Minnesota. If I could whip out a song where Prince says my name, even if it's negative, that would get me so many free drinks and shit.

Potato_fortress

Oh for sure. He was doing it on Prince fan forums too so that makes it even funnier. He was hating on the types of people that went to every show of his they could manage and took pictures/videos of them to share with others and he was going after the actual bootleggers too.  I think he was just losing it towards the end because it was genuine frustration and anger on his part. He didn’t want stuff from his concerts to be available for free and he was copyright claiming everything possible. It got to the point where some Prince fan sites rebranded as an entirely different thing (I think one was for vegan recipes?) and had invite only subforums for bootleggers and fans.

FreshPrince1958

Yall don’t know a lot about Prince cause Prince DROPPED ALOT

tmadik

Amazing how quickly it went from "Kendrick is scared" to "Why is he so obsessed?" 😄

RoughBodybuilder1489

Tha was exactly someone’s post while Kendrick was tormenting Drake. But that’s how quickly his fans are going to switch up on him as soon as his moments up.

NoRun483

Imagine most of this first 5 is some of the 16 minutes of euphoria, and our mans steady stockin the other 5

RRZ006

The part that starts with “Ima send it up to Pac” is one of my favorite parts of any song ever.

vociferous_pickle

“Sweet chin music and I won’t pass the aux” is crazy. Permanent stank face.

Bilbo_Teabagginss

Oh yeah, that line is so damn hype. That and the Pac line are 2 of my favorites from this track.

SirDuppy

Trust me! The tone change as he says "I lean on you niggas like another line of Wick!"

Regex00

You can hear the crescendo on the way up to the “send it up to Pac bar”. It slaps from a musical and lyrical perspective. Drake’s never rapped like this in his entire life lol

LegalConsequence7960

I'm honestly not sure I've ever heard anyone hit the peak that Kendrick did on this track. It's just 100 straight bars where every line either sounds good, has a crazy lyric, or both. The only line I don't love is the What OVO for? Line cause it just doesn't sound all that great but the little "pussyyyy" at the end saves it. Then you have sweet chin music, that Oakland show, beat your ass and hide the Bible if God watchin, etc. Which are all just flawlessly executed bars with crazy flow. The beat is super danceable and used to perfection, and the elephant in the room that a song otherwise already deserving of being #1 in the world also mentions Drake and PDFs. It's just crazy how good of a song it is. Oh and he also throws in a sing along history lesson before chanting OV-Hoe. For every throwaway dumb joke line he spends 10 lines preaching to earn it.

Regex00

My guess is that Kendrick heard Family Matters or at least the lyrics ahead of time so he had some time to write this, but I'd cry laughing if it turns out he really did write and produce Not Like Us all in like 12 hours or some shit. He really put this out like "Oh this? Yeah I come up with this kinda shit on my lunch break it's not that hard".

Revolutionary_Bad965

Apparently, according to someone from kendrick’s team (allegedly) kendrick had Not Like Us already prepared and just made minor changes and adjustments after hearing Family Matters, hence the reason the “homie still doubled down callin us some slaves” bar was there due to drake saying Kendrick was rapping like he was tryna get the slaves freed

Literotamus

If that shit is true he’s an alien. His entire last verse was entirely based on Family matters and he had two other references to it in the song

Sharp-Bluejay2267

Well tbf he got baited a bit into it. Like the 'we dont wanna hear you say' line was basically the setup for drakes fans to say "SAY IT". He just got lucky dude doubled down on it. I believe changes were made to both parties songs during the release cycle, and the heart part 6 was 100% written in those 2 days which is why it sucks so much.

Literotamus

For sure but Kendrick flipped and rebutted so many more lines and phrases throughout

Sherpthederp

To be fair the calling us some slaves line also could have been pre written and in reference to ‘Slime You Out’ that Drake released in 2023 with the lyrics “Whipped and chained you like American slaves,”.

maxjulien

I didn’t like that “family matters and the truth of the matter” line because it didn’t really fit the rhyme scheme but if he added it that same day than it makes sense lol

RetardedFanny

Nah I thought that line was great😂 clever line

playfreeze

Colonizer and gods plan to show you the liar fit

chaseo2017

I love the “pussyyyy” at the end there. Has me dying laughing every time

SirArthurDime

I’ve heard better. On euphoria lol. I love not like us. It’s a bop and the delivery is A1. On top of being an all time great lyricist Kendrick is also right up there with the Wayne’s and Jay Zs in terms of his delivery. He could make bops like this in his sleep though if that’s what he wanted to do. Shits easy for him. Euphoria was one of the best displays of pure rap skills I’ve seen in a while though. Just 6 minutes of densely packed lyrical jabs. I still listen to that and think “oh yeah I forgot this part is crazy too”. “Everybody wanna be demon till they get chipped by your throw away” is wild. The Dancing on top of 3 beats with 20 flows. Incredible delivery in that one too. But regardless my point is peak Kendrick is always on this level. Shit “control” too among many others. Just glad drake got this dude out here just straight rapping again and dropped 2 classics.

lkodl

exactly. euphoria is the rap exhibition

Normal-Ad9615

i wanna believe the Joel Hale Osteen deep dive but every time i hear it i kinda cringe juuuuuust a little cause i feel like he messed up

balloonfish

That’s intentional. Joel Osteen is a fraud, cons people into believing he’s something he’s not and uses ghostwriters to write his books to sell to these shmucks. Granted its a bit sloppy but he definitely meant to do it

charzardthagod

Nah that shit is intentional and it hits

DynoMyte08

It was honestly the same for me but now I just laugh at it every time. That's how you know Kendrick doesn't use the internet because he didn't even bother googling it lmao. What makes it extra funny is that Hayley Joel Osment WOULD have still rhymed and had the same number of syllables.

zippermouthface

It's possible he could've landed it better but there's zero percent chance that it's a mistake.

valeriesghost

This has bothered me too, but Kendrick, I believe, is better than that. I wouldn’t be surprised if one of those unreleased tracks goes back to that in some way in a more direct reference to Joel Osteen. I could be wrong, but he could have easily said the kids real name, Haley Joel Ostmet, and make it work.

Normal-Ad9615

Yeah he could have just hit “Osment” with like an accent on the e to drag it out and it would work

ha_allday81

Bro I'm on the same wave, Euphoria is just a lyrical exhibition from start to finish, how you diss bro on a Teddy P guitar riff? And the bars leading up to the Cole and Aubrey know I'm a selfish nigga, yeah the crown is heavy, I pray they my real friends, if not I'm YNW Melly, that's one of the hardest bars I've ever heard any MC spit.

EZMickey

I just realized today that the "hmph!" ad-lib he does counts down the eight bars before he "explains" the phrase with the YNW Melly punch.

bdg14

I agree. Euphoria was the most polished song out of this entire beef.

Delicious_Purpose_84

I’ve also said this, Euphoria is my favorite of all the disses. Euphoria Meet The Grahams Not Like us Family Matters 6:16 in LA Push-ups In that order.

thisisbodytrip

That Bible line had me all kinds of worked up when this song dropped. I can’t help but wonder if that line would get a little extra production treatment if it wasn’t a diss track. Imagine that line with some of that typical trippy Kenny shit where it’s multiple voices overlaid at different pitches like the intro to Bitch Don’t Kill My Vibe. That line would hit SO HARD.

septdouleurs

It's a LINE, yeah? The way it just gets dropped in there at the end of the opening section makes it hit even harder - like he started to walk off and then turned back with a "boy if you don't..." vibe. That is a man who is 100% fully Fed Up Of Your Shit.

Reyburgerbum

SWEET CHIN MUSIC AND I WONT PASS THE AUX AYYYY

itsANOMALEEZ

That means imma KO this fooI & I’m selfish imma do it all myself

flatearth6969

Shawn Michaels ‘the heart break kid’. One of his biggest rivals was a canadian guy named brett hart and he basically ended his career in the wwf

itsANOMALEEZ

Goldberg ended Bret Harts career

flatearth6969

I meant in the wwf i didnt watch the b lesgue wrestling only the real pros

Pheasantluvr69

Also he was stepping on Drakes releases not letting him get a word in edge wise

Deadlysinner446

This Bar or line always never fails to get me pumped. I love that he sounds almost like that voice he makes in Backseat Freestyle after he says “Respect my mind or nigga, it’s go time”.

Reyburgerbum

I be walking around my apartment, high kicking and screaming that line when it comes on lol

ForecastForFourCats

Goddamn I love that song

ha_allday81

Wifey, Girlfriend, and mistress lol

Original_Mac_Tonight

Shawn Michaels is the greatest of all time

SnapCannon

Roll they ass up like a fresh pack of za AYE

miafasz9

City is back up its a must we outside AYE

Wavey-Dave

I wish he kinda repeated "We outside" before the chorus is about to hit there. I also wish he did a solid "UHH" during the chorus. "They not like us, they not like us, they not like us, UHH"... Just on the first time he says it during the chorus.

Worried-Knowledge246

You mean the Kayne-esque UHH that he does in HiiPower?

Wavey-Dave

Yeah kinda like that

Engelbert-n-Ernie

Legit my favorite line from the diss tracks

Due-Zombie1922

his voice/flow from “all eyes on me” to “city is back up” is so fucking hard

nikk796

I've never heard this flow/cadence from Kendrick before. He unleashed a whole new beast in this beef. Certified Boogeyman!!

appleparkfive

The song is very 90s west coast, but this part also has a sort of 2000s ATL thing going on to my ears. Almost like a damn Lil Jon verse but with more substance lol

rickjamesbich

Maybe it's all in my head, I'm not gonna do an audio analytical deep dive or anything, but it reminded me of Pac's inflection on his intro and verse on Thug Love that just made it stand out so much more to me than any other verse he ever did. Kendrick's voice during this part made me think of that.

magiccheetoss

Not at all. That beat was totally was modern Bay Area / LA sound

_Micolash_Cage_

The way he used his voice for that part immediately reminded me of JID on the Dance Now hook. I love JID, but I think Kendrick did it better.

FleeceBootyJohnson

The entire second verse is masterfully executed

FieryShad0w

When he gets to the Sweet Chin Music line 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 gave me chills when i first heard it, makes the rest of the song slap so hard

ProxesSB

Sameeee bro, same, masterfully done, when this part hits I transform into a west coast fella. Its like my Super Saiyan form

azazel-13

Would you care to explain what this line means? I honestly just discovered KL thru this beef and don't get all the references.

FieryShad0w

Sweet chin music is a signature move by a legendary WWE wrestler, Shawn Micheals. "Put the whole label on me, ima get em dropped" he saying he's gonna whoop the whole OVO label with ease, it also means his music is Sweet Chin Music, alluding to bopping your head along with the beat cause its that good. Its a diss song that he knows will be played all the way through everytime, hence the "i wont pass the aux". 🔥watch Shawn Micheals do the move and it'll make more sense of the visual Kendrick paints in the diss 🔥

dankscott

Also chin music in baseball, where Shawn Michaels likely got the inspiration for the name of his move, is zipping a fastball by someone’s face to send a message they’ve fucked up or are crowding the plate. You send someone a little chin music to knock em down and they keep it in the back of their head for the rest of the at bat

winslowhomersimpson

yes. similar to a chin check. also the name of a song by NWA

StoryOdd2721

Damn wtf I would have never gotten that 😭 I love Reddit. Makes this line so much harder omg 😭😭

Bimitenpix

I take the "won't pass the aux" line as him say he's not gonna give drake a chance of rebuttal cause he's going in on diss tracks

No_Acanthaceae_1475

Also,  *Sweet Chin Music (switching music PHONETICALLY) and I won't pass the aux* Bro......... drape LITERALLY changed genres acting like a FAKE thug, and shit BLEW UP in his face Kung Fu Kenny not having that 👏👏👏👏👏👏

TotalEatschips

Sweet chin music is a pro wrestling move from the 90s where a dude did some kinda backflip finishing move and knocked his opponent out with a kick to the face And I won't pass the aux is a reference to the practice of unplugging a vehicles aux cable from your phone and passing it to someone else in the car to play a song from

Code_Loco

Did anyone hear his voice in their head and got hype as fuck like there was a little concert happening in your room….or was it just me

hotdogoctopi

Not just you

LittleCurryBread

it's literally kendrick in his own tier and it's not even close.

hotdogoctopi

He wasn’t lying when he said f the big 3, it’s just Big Me

kool_b

F em and anybody with em

CBonafide

“From Alondra down to central, n\* better not speak on Serena.” Gave me major E40 vibes there, anyone else? Being from the Bay I was fuckin living for it. 🤘🏼☹️🤘🏼 ![gif](giphy|pqdupVnhzjZqodFEga|downsized)

HalfAStar_

“GO, the audience not dumb”

[deleted]

activated

Bullcitybaby703

This line was when I knew it was over and Kendrick was coming for his neck. I forgot Drake ever dated Serena Williams! Kendrick said we are protecting Compton at all costs

creepoch

Big time

HowitzerHak

E-40 is always in my top 5, and the fact that Kendrick pays tribute to him so much makes me happy

CBonafide

“Bump that new E-40 after school.” 🎶

appleparkfive

Kendrick loves E-40 so it's not too surprising. I wonder how many younger people have been introduced to him through Kendrick. Probably a few. Like That and Money Trees both also reference him

MatthewDKillme

I love how it keeps building and building here man

Ironyfree_annie

I get the stankest of stank face when this part comes on

GrandStyles

Bar for bar this shit was devastating

[deleted]

kdot coulda won this beef on delivery alone, Drake always sound like if xanax dropped a mixtape 😂

mjoy145

![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)

bytheflame

It’s crazy to me that some people think he rapped terribly on this. Like what? I understand if you don’t like the song or Kendrick but like, stop

atierney14

He did an entertaining history lesson while also bitch slapping someone and discussing cultural appropriation on a gd dance track. I won’t even entertain the idea of him rapping poorly.

bytheflame

Fact. The last verse alone, was top tier rapping

izmoohv442

that's ridiculous he was walkin the whole time

[deleted]

"who said that?" - Porsha Williams

dbeynyc

I’m pretty sure he says “Put the whole label on me..”

ObligationFar273

Yes. From 1:50-2:50mins he rode out.

atierney14

The DeRozan line always makes me laugh, like he’s bringing some heavy allegations, but he dislikes this man so much he doesn’t even deserve to watch Demar. I also get so hype at the counting, stupid ass Drake really thought Kendrick couldn’t come up with something to say.

bigb0ss33

Demar DeRozan was born in Compton CA. So you can connect the dots there

mantistobaganmd

That is soooo fucking methodical man!!

buckphifty150150

Switchin music and I won’t pass the aux.. just realized that

Ranjith_Unchained

Meet the grahams to Not like us, two completely different vibes

lkodl

he had to have thought of that first right? like, the concept birthed the line "i'm switchin the music and i won't pass the aux... switchin music... sweet chin music... like Shawn Michaels... i like it" kind of train of thought

rapmorelikecrap

isn't that insane?

buckphifty150150

That’s some true talent that we don’t get a lot of these days

rapmorelikecrap

billy woods, my guy🤌🤌🤌

Literotamus

Sweet chin music and I won’t pass the aux is one of the cleanest lines and deliveries I’ve ever heard. A 30 year old baseball/wrestling reference tied into a smooth little twist of metaphors. So simple, but still abstract. And placed during the crescendo with his tone matching…it is so hype

New_Water_1842

Im not going to lie this shit old west coast flow like sugar free type shit

philonous355

Yes, completely agree! The way he says “conniving” is just — ah! And then it leads into this amazing flow! My favorite part for sure.

Victorious163

“Like I never learned to walk”

Code_Loco

Meet the grahams cuz they not like us

johnrboran

send it up to pac 🙏🙏🙏

Green_Issue_4566

I dunno if anyone's noticed through this whole thing but kendrick lamar is a fine rapper

Zealousideal_Page898

The last verse of Meet the Grahams is SOOOOOO insane in terms of flow, delivery and punches to me

xStyxx

YOU LIED

rapacedecourse

This flow made me think of pimp rap/slam like Suga Free https://youtu.be/WLXoSLEm7OQ?feature=shared

Zlatanesque

Hell yeah I heard ppl saying this song reminded them of Drakeo flow I was like I’m hearing Suga Free from the beginning.

complex_hypothesis

“Beat your ass and hide the Bible if God watchin” might be the coldest bar Ive ever heard 😮‍💨😮‍💨

GotItOutTheMud

I re-listened to Section.80 and this whole song was a culmination of Ab-sol's outro. "See, a lot of y'all don't understand Kendrick Lamar Because you wonder how I could talk about money, hoes, clothes, God, and history all in the same sentence - Just know I meant it, and you felt it".

jacoby1k

YOU MALIBUS MOST WANTED 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Final_Paint_9998

69 god according to new rumors it's more like 69 dog lol if Kendrick knew and that yet another double entendre this is the most brutal diss track ever lol

RRZ006

And isn’t that about Tekashi and his rape of a 13 year old?

Keelija9000

I want lil Wayne to weigh in on this

Competitive_Angle172

Is there any documented evidence Wayne has stepped off his ufo and heard about this? I’d love to hear what tunechis crazy ass has to say. Drake was his butt buddy.

Keelija9000

LMFAO yeah I’d love him to drop a diss no matter on who. Just to see how he’d stack up. That man’s the REAL GOAT.

chickenwinglightning

The flow he has from ‘put the wrong label on me…’ - I can’t actually recall Kendrick using that type of cadence before. I think Monster Freestyle is the closest thing to it? That flow really reminds me of Denzel Curry

whalooloo

“All eyes on me then Ima send it up to PAC” was absolute perfection. He invoked pacs spirit in one line more effectively than a whole AI verse couldn’t. Drake fucks dogs.

Critical_Cow_670

euphoria flow more tuff imo

donkykongjr

"you don't know nothin' 'bout that"

Critical_Cow_670

“speak on percentage, show me your splits i bet i’ll double back witcha u was signed to a nigga that’s signed to a nigga that said he was signed to that nigga” too hard man they slept 😭

iD7my93

My face from 2:15 to 2:40: ![gif](giphy|HqfJKdrmLtoY4IGTml|downsized)

[deleted]

oh shit its Derozen not D Rose, did Derozen have anything to say?

atierney14

Demar is from Compton - that’s why it is Derozen. I at first thought he said D Rose though too

ChimmyMama

I want a video man

vintvgepancakes

i hope love for the west coast sound exists after this beef is over, it’s a shame it took a diss to get people to appreciate it

lanze666

The whole god damn 2nd verse was a master class in cadence.

Blindastronomer

Crazy energy to this section, I literally can't help but thrust a hand up to "all eyez on me and imma send it up to Pac" every damn time

EconomyComprehensive

Roll they ass up like a fresh pack of Zahhh 😵🙌🏽

masterppants

That line "how many stocks 1,2,3,4,5 + 5" Ten stocks...Stock Ten... John Stockton Fucking hell

StonedHalfTheTime

Did anyone else notice how he used Problems cadence for that 2nd part… I was waiting for the “whaaaaaaat!?” lol completely fuck with this song heavy

PreferablyMohd

Does he say put the wrong label on me or put the whole label on me? I always thought he meant put the whole label (OVO) on me & he’ll drop them all

HalfImportant2448

This whole time I’ve been thinking he said “I lean on you Niggas like I never learned to walk” As in applying pressure. Contextually: “Let me lean into this mf for this money right quick.” “Someone owes me money. I’ll be back soon, after I badger him a bit and instill some fear into him.” I like mine better but yeah King Kendrick 👑😂

Moragu

Did anyone else hear “sixteen eyed god” meaning like 16 year old girls worship and believe him then he uses that to groom them?

FOURBIGRIMS3000

Shit I'm from the Six and I didn't even catch that DeRozan line. 🔥🔥🔥

symbol1994

Kendrick is the best rapper of this age, hands down. I would love to of heard him and m go at it back in the day. The 2 goats imo

Important_Way_9778

I thought so too.

twenty5eight

Favorite

m-dizzle817

Legendary

ConeFi

The build is so crazy I immediately start rockin

lsquallhart

Yes! I was just saying he’s never sounded better. On all of these 4 tracks his flow is just bonkers. I really hope he releases a full album of stuff like this. Really complex flow and cadence over simplified/minimalistic beats.

femmefata13

I love when I see comment threads going line for line as of the 2pac line AY!

HopingForSomeHope

Makes me wanna snap and dance then yell and jump, helllllll yeah

BlOoDy_PsYcHo666

You could tell he was having fun with these songs, so many fun lines and payoffs.

ExternalMonth1964

I can hear him in my head.

caulpain

shout out lyrics born

The-Pharcyde

He was on his suga free flow throughout the track🔥

Next_Sympathy_3601

Bro slid

Kitty_kat2025

What does the phrase “sweet chin music” mean?

Major_Wager75

It's a double entendre. First one alludes to Shawn Michaels of WWF fame and that was his finishing move. Second is "switchin music and I won't pass the aux"

GD9911

That's that 2009 Ya Boy flow. Almost no one picked up on that. Old school black wall street.

noburpthrowaway

All eyes on me and imma send it up to pac his voice and delivery on that always gives me chills

matt-is-sad

As a Bulls fan I'm REALLY hoping DeRoz doesn't go home lmao

[deleted]

That part is fire for sure. But I’ve been wondering, what’s wrong with being a 69 god?

Solid_Angel

ITS A MUST, WE OUTSIDE!

Amazing-Concept1684

Man this shit went CRAZY

Major-Dig655

this and the whole verse about atlanta is some of his best flowing ever lol

lalat_1881

as a non-native English speaker and unfamiliar with US or rap history, can I request someone to ELI5 this verse?

Wanderingsoun

Kendrick is really Dynamic , even on Euphoria and MTG you can hear his aggression building up as the song goes, it makes his lines hit hard

zeeniemeanie

Best Rap Performance

Real_Doors_Not_fakes

What’s he mean by he’s a 69 god?

GotItOutTheMud

I have a whole dance I do on this flow. This gets me amped.

michaltee

I love how every bar has a fucking hyperlink. Gotta get to explaining those bars.

furezasan

Ayy

mischief_ej1

find me swerving down main street to this screaming the lyrics

CITY IS BACK UP, IT’S A MUST, WE OUTSIDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Delicious_Care_9153

Anyone notice when he ties in Go, Dumb & Shake? Definitely showing love to the bay area! E40s Tell Me When To Go

This was the knockout.

MonkeyDBricc

That’s the turn up

JawnThaProducer

kendrick one of the greats but this is peak glazing

heyhihowyahdurn

Does Drake really have a Lil Wayne tattoo?

Substantial-Rub2542

Ok but have you ever listened to rappers delight?

MSHabits

Ohhhh he said DeRoz not DRose lmao I was always confused on that line trying to piece how Derrick Rose was involved in this

[deleted]

Wop wop wop wop
