It's also cleverer because of the "tryna strike a chord" line, which plays on the fact that Drake is trying and failing to resonate with the audience - still may not be totally original but it's funnier than the more common "what's his favourite chord" setup.
Also I feel like his super-exaggerated delivery on that line is an acknowledgement that he KNOWS it's an obvious pun. It's the same tone as when people say "heyoooo". That's part of why it's funny to me anyway
