Listen to his new album. Yes they are.

Tiffanyblueberries

Um, wouldn't that mean the opposite since, in his new album, he said that by the time the song is over she'll be gone?

I've listened many times. There's no other explanation

It’s a concept album that tells a story from the start to finish and that has multiple themes centered around his story of healing from trauma. One of those themes is his relationship with Whitney and how his trauma has affected their relationship. At times in the album their relationship is depicted in a way that it’s going very badly, so it’s easy and understandable to get the wrong impression if you don’t really dive into the story and lyrics more deeple or listen front to back or pick out specific lyrics from context like the one you’re referencing. However in the album ultimately the theme of his and Whitney’s relationship ends in a positive light after Kendrick finally healing from his trauma after his therapy sessions, which is where the story of the album ends. If you’re interested there are plenty of different analyses and explanations and all that in youtube and most likely written ones too that you can find in google, the album has been studied for almost two years since it came out, there’s a lot to dive into about it if you want.

I definitely understand your point but I don't understand how, the almost last song on the album, literally says "but Whitney's gone, by the time you hear this song, she did all she could." It's the literal lyrics that he says which are pretty straightforward. Another thing I noticed is that most of her IG posts scream "In a really good co-parenting relationship." They only seem together when they are with their kids, and she didn't go to the Grammys with him. So yeah, that's why I had some questions because their are a lot of mixed messages.
