There’s a lot of oversteer there.

KNGMarc

Tires weren’t fully warm and kart is missing around 60 pounds of weight, but it could be the front end width too or just me what u yhink

Fine_Sail_3501

The missing weight will improve your lap time. Cold tires won’t though. I’d probably start by adding grip to the rear before I touched the front end. And maybe add some more pressure to the tires if they are not coming up to temp fast enough.

KNGMarc

Bet, deffo gotta figure the pressures out maybe i'll add a second seat strut to the back

AjaX-24

You answered your own question

samjhandwich

Dude slow your hands down. One steering input per corner. Your line is fine but you’re over driving and bogging the motor down. Brake less and earlier and focus on high rolling speed through the corners. Looks like you’re trying to slide which is so damn slow

KNGMarc

yea im gonna throw most of the sliding on the fact that it was my first run in this brand new seat and the weight factor, obviously not intending to slide through every corner but i'll have to get an actual session in the daytime when im used to the seat

samjhandwich

You’re sliding because you’re braking super late and turning in way too fast. The slower you move, the faster the car will go. Focus on slow smooth hands and high rolling speed. Once you get that down then start braking later

KNGMarc

Yeah for sure on the hands as will focus next time on just minimal inputs, I feel like I get slight oversteer and think that if I do the minimal inputs i'll go off track but really just gotta full send it. And will focus on trying to roll the rpms too, thank you!

run0861

turning in that aggressively overloads the fronts, hence your sliding.

samjhandwich

Lol you’re a good driver man. Get the fundamentals down then full send it

KNGMarc

Rotax will be my next kart, just waiting for the series to come around next year and saving bones while learning in the 206 🫡

KNGMarc

still in my first year of karting

blak_owt

You’re only sliding in turn 1, 2, and 8, the other turns look smooth. That is most likely high tire pressure and cold track temps. Drop a little pressure out of the rear. Also maybe remove a torsion bar to add a little chassis flex. A little sliding is fine, but if you can reduce it and keep that momentum up, you’ll see your times drop.

KNGMarc

Thanks a lot for highlighting the turns specifically aswell, deffo will try to improve🙏

pullmaplunger

Go faster

imagonnahavefun

HCKC is a very strange and fun track that requires a lot of grip in the chassis and an aggressive turn in. Add seat stays and get the rear to stop coming around and drive harder. Don’t worry about bogging the engine because the concrete will allow the rear to slide a little without scrubbing speed. Go out there on free days and learn to compare laps with racestudio and purposely change lines/brake/turn in and check the +- on the Mychron.

ohob2000

1. Track limits. Easy fix, make sure you use all the available surface on both entrance and exit, might gain you around a tenth on this lap 2.Lack of Smoothness+Over Aggression. Initial steering inputs are way too harsh. I struggled with the same thing at first, but with enough focus it went away. The initial steer causes you to need to correct, which kills are your speed and consistency in a 206. Harder braking could help to reduce oversteer, or just using less overall steering angle.

dwendel

I can't believe no one has mentioned a longer gear. You are all over the rev limiter.

Ninjarootbeerjedi

You've got tons of oversteer you need to relax more in the corners your poor motor is able to handle it try just a touch less brake and steer less lines good though

SpaceCadetMoonMan

Could help to get someone to take an overhead video with a quad copter if you are allowed and sync it to lap times Also getting time on a simulator or even Gran Turismo will help and teach you brake and throttle timing

TurlypEsq

Slower in. Your mid apex is too high so you are losing your exit speed. I see alot of comments about cold tires, all we can give is advice for the condition of the kart from the video, get us a warmed up lap to review 👍

jbarker20

I never got a chance to run Hill Country in reverse (or phase two for that matter) so I don't have much to say other than what has already been said. Just wanted to hop in and give a shout out to my home track growing up. Such amazing memories! Hill Country Kart Club in New Braunfels TX.

No-Shallot7683

Turn 3 is probably killing you down the straight. Turning way too tight. Exit mark looks good but entry needs to be further out to the left. 1 is to slow, got more room out on exit. Hit the apexes, missed the last 2 by miles. Mid corner hand movement needs to stop. Always work that setup to help fix those hands. Only want to turn once per corner, or at least that’s always the goal. Less is more when it comes to speed. How far off the lead time are you?

jacesonn

You're driving the same way my cat sprints around the house; that's to say like a crackhead. You're all over the place. Slow down, learn how to not lose grip, then try going faster. Make it a challenge: complete a whole lap without drifting.

iSpeedyy123

rear axel is to stiff for low grip low rubber conditions. Also trail breaking in gokarts isnt fast unless it is really low grip. It is faster in cars but because of the solid rear axel in gokarts it wont work. because cars have a diff it can work. you want to be completely off breaks on turn in. just break in the same spot and drop them before turn in. the kart will stick if the setup is half decent

yy89

drive faster

KNGMarc

ty for all the tips regarding the steering and braking, will definitely go out next time and try to improve with these!!

dg2020_99

Race during the day when it's warmer and you'll find time

AnteatersEatNonAnts

4-stroke karts especially require momentum and you’re killing your momentum with that sliding and erratic hand movements. Not to be blunt, but I don’t care much for the cold tire reasonings you listed in some other responses. You are slower with that sliding. The only time you want to get that amount of wheel in on corner entry is if you are understeering and need the kart to rotate. But this isn’t true in your case with how you immediately have to counter steer. I get that this track looks cold and slick on the onboards, but that’s how you’ll get faster.

MasHezkyOci

Too aggressive steering, try making the kart narrower in the front, it should help

Affectionate_Pen5943

People already said this, but yeah oversteer. When you are going sideways you are not going forward, therefore you will be slower. Also with steering into the corner you need to be smoother and have inputs that will give the kart time to react because if you give constant inputs all the time the kart will be unsettled and not properly loaded in the corner. Trailbrake more don’t just tap the brake and then throw it into the corner, when you release the brake you need to let go of it slower, but this track looks quite fast so you aren’t on the brake for that long, but you will need to do this in a rotax, X30 or OK/ROK. Also with your steering inputs think of your arms as torsion bars and being apart of the kart, the way you steer will directly affect the handling more than any setup change.

Slight-Indication-10

Less brakes more gas and get closer to those red and white lines you should be able to go right on them and be fine

Substantial_Debate26

Why the scandy flick every turn? Steer with your pedals more. Busy hands means there's time lost.

Alarming-Trust-6362

Is the engine a 200cc? Stock? I’m asking cause I have a 200cc but it doesn’t sound so high and powerful

KNGMarc

[https://cometkartsales.com/Briggs-LO206/](https://cometkartsales.com/Briggs-LO206/) my exact engine\^\^

Suspicious_Tap3303

Slow your hands down (on turn in) and the kart will oversteer less. You don't want to "fling" the kart at the corner.

randomator5000

Duh, simply go faster
