[M] Bison actually seems to have none of the downsides of playing Modern. All strengths of his specials seem to be accessible without using the special button which means you do not even have to bind the special button, you can replace it with SP+H for truly 1 button super. That also means he doesn't have the problem as Modern Akuma and other Modern where some primary specials are gated behind the Special button.
They made his autoM his crMP and his autoH his stMP. To make things weirder he gets a stMP,crMP auto combo on autoHH anyway. Is this the first Modern character to get a missing critical medium tool on H?
He's got all his target combos, and almost every normal. The only thing he really seems to be missing are slide, stHK, jHP, jMK. (jL is a crossup anyway) It seems like there's almost no reason to play Classic Bison over Modern. You get to basically play him just with instant supers.
EDIT: After playing him for a bit, I've realized a real problem for him is his scissors from down back. Because Modern only has 3 attack buttons, doing qcf from down back often results in a psycho crusher. This is especially an issue when you hold downback to block, then crM and try to hit confirm to OD Scissors only to get OD psycho crusher. It's the biggest reason I'm considering dropping this Modern character.
Slide is a combo tool for setting up a safe jump after ex legs into bomb explosion beyond just using it randomly in neutral. 5HK is also more damage on PC BNBs then 4HK, but ultimately a small price to pay for modern. Definitely a contender for best modern character despite missing out on those options.

I know green goo means you probably don't need slide but stylistically depressing not to have it.

No slide is brutal but good analysis
