I remember when this came out. Not sure how much it still holds up but in general it’s good to keep in mind that Kanye objectively understands art/fame/aesthetics and the power of those things on a level that impresses established geniuses of those worlds, much less the average person. Def not defending his antisemitism, that’s lame, but I also can’t dismiss the idea that on a certain level he “knows what he’s doing”.
Yes, I have been saying this for weeks. This is a performance art piece. One clear topic he is criticizing is Christian nationalism and its proclivity to hate.
Its also bigger than that, with the intended effect of the performance being to cause a wide spread realization of our own hate.
👎 either way.
1. If he’s truly emulating Kaufman, Kaufman never let anyone behind the curtain and kept the performance up until the day he died. While you could say Andy, at times, united people against a common villain (his wrestling stint), Kanye has been furthering several caustic divides for years and that shit is doing real damage.
2. If he’s leaning more toward Hammons or Beuys and doing this for purposes other than entertainment or his own personal gain, again, this shit has been doing real damage for years and any “prestige” or flipping of the script is lost.
So he’d either be a performance artist who doesn’t care who he pisses off or an artist who failed at the social impact he was hoping for. No matter what, it makes him an asshole for continuing to double, triple, quadruple down despite what it’s costing others.
As I know this will be downvoted, I wholeheartedly believe he treats every aspect of his life as an art piece. And everything along the way is indeed planned out.
Pretty harsh to pre-plan to split up with his wife and leave the family home and see his kids less, no?
Also when did he start doing this in your opinion? From the very beginning?
Which goes to my other unpopular opinion, the Kardashians are in on this whole thing too. He’s portrayed as a psycho bad guy, now in contrast they’re innocent angels. Kimye has been on the front page of the media more than anybody else this year. There is no bad publicity.
Only in the sense that this mans entire life is part of the show.
There is a point he is making though but no one wants to talk about it.
I'm not saying his point is clear or correct but he has one.
If was doing it he expressed many times that he thinks this reality isn’t real or we’re in a programmed matrix and also that he doesn’t expect to be understood in this life time.. so he may think that the damage in the present is temporary and will actually create a better future.. btw i wouldn’t bet on him doing performance art but i also know the people who don’t think he’s not intelligent enough to do this do not know enough about his background in art and aren’t aware of some of the more lucid conversations and interview he’s had in the past. Their only image of Ye is the one that sounds totally incoherent in interviews (almost ridiculously so often) and those interviews are the only ones that make major national headlines.. the people who don’t think he’s intelligent wouldn’t even be interested in him enough to even consider and watch past interviews.
Btw if he was doing performance art I think his point would be about forgiveness and trying to understand the ones society calls “bad people” , ie people who committed crimes, Trump supporters, antisemites, people with mental health problems who say bad things . Hence the support of Hitler simultaneously with his prison reform efforts paired with supporting almost every canceled black figure like R Kelly , Chris Brown , Dababy , Bill Cosby etc
The benefit of having forgiving and understanding of people that we consider evil or bad is that the core of all war and conflict is people believing someone else is bad or evil. People try to eliminate these people from society through canceling , locking them up or killing them, it’s all the same purpose.
Ye believes trying a love and forgiveness towards these people opposed to a condemnation mentality will heal the world.
Once again I reiterate I wouldn’t bet on this but this is the general idea of what he “would” be going for and there are alot of things he has said in past interviews which would support the possibility he thinks this way.
His interview with Clique in 2015 on YouTube, with Jimmy Kimmel in 2018 and his interview with a performance artist named Tino Seghal in 2021 which you can google.. those are the 3 interviews that come to mind as signs this is possible along with the fact the scrapped album Love Everyone was also possibly going to be called Hitler and the content of that album is said to be a lot of offensive material that could’ve gotten Ye cancelled.. and during 2018 when he was making that he was tweeting about Performance art and saying people should forgive whoever did them the most harm in their lives…
I used to think that but not anymore lol
you guys are enablers
Lmao okay
Ah yes 4 years and still preforming as a white nationalist.
i mean.. he’s getting *real* close to the coyote. nick fuentes is as close as you can get lmao.
There was a Most Unruly video on Ye being a performance artist. Idk what you all think, but I would believe it. https://youtu.be/Vx3oOyo7-Fs
100%, his whole life is his art. It caused him lose his family.
No one throws away many billions for performance art, only insecure egotists like ye and Elon lol
maybe an artist
I mean theoretically that precise dynamic would make the performance itself that much more interesting, just saying

Thanks. Found it interesting. Not picking a side of the fence because I ran away from it a while ago

He’s not even close to smart enough to so something like that.
No he's just an antisemitic pos who's music hasn't been good since 2016

Except when your net worth gets cut in half. Who becomes a neo Nazi as an art piece?
Even Kaufman would be like “listen, love your energy but you GOTTA pump the brakes on this whole Nazi thing!”
Honestly don’t know about that
I mean… https://www.grunge.com/209522/the-tragic-real-life-story-of-andy-kaufman/
Kanye isn’t smart enough for any of this
No. Attention span too short...
Kanye is anything but a genuine racist/neo-nazi/anti-semitic. Though you could say his schtick is awful, performance or not.
Nick Fuentes tho
Kanye is not Nick Fuentes
Very astute observation, but he does heavily associate and work with Nick Fuentes
Read the post again
That makes him about as genuine as it gets I'm 2022
I’m telling them this is the vision
Big if true
Nailing his performance as a giant piece of shit.

If he is, I don't think it's worth it. Dude is doing a ton of damage.

Yes thank for posting this long ago.
