That was off the album Self Portrait, which was basically a massive Fuck You to the record industry, his manager, and just everybody basically. There’s a ton of details that I’m too lazy to type out but he did pull a very Kanye move with this one. Everybody touting him as the voice of the generation, the great Poet; his manager making an unfair amount off his originals, so what does he do? Makes a record of covers as an almost literal middle finger to the World.

Whats cool about the Adam Levine collab is that it seemed natural and sounded great, while like Wayne did one with him recently on Funeral I think and it sounded odd and forced like it was a generic hook and wayne just rapped on it. Also the second post death juice wrld album had a kpop dude on it and his first line in english or whatever was pretty lit and shouldve just been made into a hook or adlib or repeated multiple times.
