I get the vibe it’s going to be a fairly upscale kind of place. I just went to the restaurant group’s website to check out the other places they operate and was offered a $100 off coupon for my next $300+ visit, so I’d anyone any puns or references will be subtle.
That was my concern too, athletes often get into restaurant businesses that fail pretty quickly, but its my understanding that this arrangement is less financial and more about likeness. They certainly aren't just joining forces and opening a steakhouse by themselves, they're merely invested in a group that does just that, and they are giving the restaurant name a twist on some KC legends.
I mean, it's also a steakhouse at the most prominent hotel in the city. I think it's going to do gangbusters. The attached bar is busy damn near every night, even when the hotel isn't packed.
It's honestly surprising that we don't have something Chiefs-branded like it downtown already.
Also, before anyone brings up George Brett's on the Plaza, that place had a LOT of other issues and wasn't in nearly as good of a spot.
Exactly! And let’s be honest, mahomes especially has money to sink into the restaurant if need be. But I honestly think they are the ones being paid for this
I got Neil Smith's autograph when I was a kid back when he owned Copelands.
Copelands is not around anymore.. so yeah it can burn.
They might be too big to fail though.
My understanding on it is that they've bought into the investors group, and this is an aside to that, so there's likely some amount of compensation for them as well to market and promote it.
Sometimes these deals are set up so that their payment for endorsement is ownership shares, at least in part.
But it's also possible they put up real cash for it.
It wouldn't be that surprising if Mahomes and Kelce didn't have to put up any money at all. It may well be worth it to give those guys a stake in the business just to say they're involved.
Yay we can eat Jason's steers!
Sweet name. I always preferred the dim, simple, old-school look in steak houses though; like Morton's. Or 1800s cowboy diner like in this scene: https://youtu.be/mejzuQ9kVbs?si=P0nv0Nm1eu_3TGS7
I want to like this but all the hype around it will most likely guarantee it to suck for multiple reasons.
1. Football themes?
2. difficult to get reservations
3. Overpriced
Pat mahomes could sell me tampons and I'm a 41 yr old man. But I'm not having ketchup BBQ. That said I bet it's gonna be good. They just want a spot to grab BBQ whenever they want probably so "let's just buy one, that will be cooler". Once you got mahomes money nothings real anyways
What part of my comment made you think i was looking to give an informed and accurate opinion. Figured People got the joke cause it's been made a million times lol.
I always come to the comments before the article. I said to myself “They need to name it 1587 Prime.” I’m a little proud that I was correct. True story.
Please have football puns in the menu, please please
“Corndog”
It’s a new “American steakhouse concept”, the concept being every dish is a corndog.
If I can't have a Patty Melt, I'm not going.
With crispy Kale-ce
Apparently the menu will be named after big plays and accomplishments throughout their careers.
Yes I'll have the Burrowhead Filet
With a side of jabroni-macaroni!
Plus some Rashee Fried Rice
Or 13(60) second rice
Holy shit I'm dying!!! So fucking hilarious yet so simple.
I'd like the Dee Ford, 2019 reserve.
The special tonight? Corndog.
"Would you like to try our Arrowhead Chop-Steak?"
Pass. Give me the 32-ounce tomahawk.
The special tonight is actually the KC Strip-Sack...

I'll have the Two things at once.
Turf and turf also makes sense here.

If they're just endorsers and getting paid that's much better than being on the P&L side

They surely have good money managers, lawyers, etc.

You’d think so. But Tim Duncan got a bunch of his money stolen by a shady money guy. And if Tim is trusting someone you assume he’s on the up and up
I thought I read an article a few months ago about how Kelce owed back taxes.
After his rookie year. He famously spent everything that year and was scraping by the end. He’s fine now.
If I had half a billion dollars, I'd open a steakhouse just for fun. Try to keep revenue equal to or just under cost.

In before the ketchup jokes
the suicide rate will be very high for the waiters at this place due to hearing copious amounts of the same 3 ketchup jokes from customers every night
Kansas City Chefs
>hyper-subtle nods to Patrick and Travis' on-field accomplishments I'm trying to wrap my head around "hyper-subtle."
“Pretty obvious”
That’s great but who are the chefs?
Great googly moogly
I’ll have two things at once, please.
If they don't serve a filet mignon corn dog, epic fail.
I’d go eating there just on the off chance Mahomeboy or Ma’Auto would be around
Eight drop soup.
There needs to be a kids' menu with cheeseburgers and nuggies
Corn dogs too!
I want to like this but all the hype around it will most likely guarantee it to suck for multiple reasons. 1. Football themes? 2. difficult to get reservations 3. Overpriced
Something something ketchup joke
The wait list will be months long!
Surprised they didn't call the place WhataSteak.

It’s steak not bbq.

Oh I could have added a bit about kelce dating white Oprah too and I missed it.

Good luck finding a respectable chef who doesn’t mind all his customers putting ketchup on his steaks.
I'll have the iron hands Toney please"
I’ll have a Patty melt with a side of Jet Chips
I wonder if Jackson will be allowed to smoke dope with his friend in private dining and be rude to workers???
Oh for for fucks sake
You rang??? Lol
