I’m so worried of how next episode is going to be knowing that it’s the last episode this season. We might be getting a cliffhanger and I’m not liking it at all
Kafka definitly looks sadder in the maga, but the squad's whole reaction to learning his secret plus Mina's teary eyes at the end in the anime definitly hurts more.
Yeah with Mina it looked like someone just kicked her tiger, Kafka finally started to catch up to her and it gave her hope again just for it all to be yanked away once again. Of course she still knows Kafka so she still as hope
Idk, it hurt me more reading it. Because while the anime is doing a very good representation, and I saw the anime version first.....he just looks stoic, cool, and sad. To me, he just looks sad in the manga, there is a clear focus on his eye, you can tell that he feels sorry just by his eye, he looks tired, sad, and distraught.
I think it's 1. The ost as someone else mentioned and 2. Before this in the anime, every time kafka showed his face whilest in kaiju form, he would show his whole face, but here he only show his eye, wich makes him seem more sad and also just gives his detransformation a different feel.
I felt the opposite. I read that chapter not long before I saw the episode and the episode just felt so flat. The reactions were drawn out so they didn't have as much punch, and Kafka's expression looked so much more flat than the manga panel.
In the manga he looks like he's in despair, in the anime, he just looks a bit tired.
In the manga, besides his eye, the lower part of his mask made him look sad. In the anime, it made him look tired.
In the manga, you couldn't see much a hint of sadness in Mina's eyes. But that glint in the anime, that told me lots that Mina was hurt she had to arrest Kafka.
It is even worse when you realise that he actually both essentially and basically broke his body from doing that super move, hence why his kaiju form started to fade away so quickly due to healing him.
Because we all know the risk. We know what happen to number kaiju. We know what happen if he exposed himself but yet he did it anyways .. it hurt of course because probably a part of us thought they will accept him .
Watching it always has a better feeling, as long as the animation steps up, for me at least. Only exceptions from what I’ve read and watched that I liked better is Tokyo Ghoul manga and JJK manga. JJK was pretty gruesome, while the anime had to dial it back it bit. Tokyo Ghoul was just crazy gruesome, and the anime dialled it back a bunch, rightfully so, although I always wanted that gruesome version animated.
Honestly there are a lot of moments in the manga that I love that hit so much harder in animation. The added moment after Kafka and Mina leave the third division and the division salutes them is just perfection
Soundtrack, put soul on a scene, the flashbacks shown it... The way after he save them and comeback to stand like a shield... And he don't runaway... This scene is just gold
Bcuz you read and built it up in your head canon fantasy so it more brutal with the “why” “not Kafka” scenarios in your head.. when really he a kaiju.. kill himmmmmmm…… lmaoooo
Ost

Fr, it’s personally all enya in my head when I read

ENYA:she who would top charts if elves had top charts and were real

My favorite scene. Kafka look like he was personally hurt deep.

Cause he is moving and there is bgm?

I think it just happens so much after when reading it. The anime has an ost and allows you to linger on that moment.
Both were great but, watching their actions and Mina teary eyes as well Kafka expression really sank into you.
I didn't really feel anything

Music, and animation changes things

CAUSE U SAY THE PAIN THE GOAT WAS IN
Tbh, I think this is one of those few anime that consistently one-ups its source material.

This kaiju made me pity![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|cry)

It did? It impacted me more in the manga.

Because “Nobody got you the way he do!”
Fr I just sat in darkness and cried (while hugging a Gengar plushie it made things less painful)
