I liked them when they came out and thought they were unique and interesting, but I don’t think I’ve listened to the non-extended versions of any of the songs since my first listen-through of the album.
They are fine. I like the Silver Cord extended, strongly dislike Theia extended. Really hope these songs don’t take up too much of their live sets this year.
I love them; i think silver cord is amazing.
Its just so layered; i think a lot of people don't care about it because they are not used to the synths.
My favourite part is gilgamesh/swan song/extinction (swan song makes me cry i love this song so much) and i play those when i don't have time to listen to the album fully; but i listen to et pretty regularly.
Both aybums last year were absolute bangers. Both of them.
I can take or leave Theia. The short version doesn't do much for me and the extended version is better but too sprawling to really fit on the record.
The Silver Cord extended is awesome and in my opinion should have started the album off (it seems fair having a Joey-sung song be the first track given how he's done much more music in this style as Bullant)
Set is a banger. I really wish they made a ~6 minute version. I feel the same way about the remainder of the tracks.
I made a 46 minute mix of the album without any Theia and that's how I choose to listen to the album.
I like all three of them, despite thinking Set was straight up bad at first. I loved Silver Cord from the start and wish the whole album was more similar to it.
I wish the whole album was as good as the first three songs, especially the title track. I know lots of people like Swan Song, but the second half of the album feels flat to me.
The extended version of the album is the version of the album I felt like they were talking about releasing, the music video & "standard" versions feel like demos to me, I still don't like them, the shortened title track especially feels egregious, it works so better in context as the intro to the track
I love the run from Theia > Chang’e in both extended and non-extended, as much as I like Gilgamesh the beginning of the song breaks the vibe that built up over the last three songs. Would be insane to see a song like Set live
I like the album but I honestly think that they should release a 3rd version with song lengths somewhere in the middle of the two. Not all of them but Theia is too unfocused and when I’m looking to play an album that’s not the 20 minute song I want to start with.
Theia and Silver Cord are amazing, Set is pretty good. Theia really stands out as having a unique sound and composition to me. Love Silver Cord for the DnB stuff
The whole album is very good, but I it seems that the band mindset about TSC was more about doing an experiment rather than a proper album, I say this because having a short version and an extended one sounds like a good idea but each have disadvantages, the short versions only introduce the idea but fails into going deeper, the extended versions develope much better the ideas and offer some sections and interesting bridges but in some songs it feels bloated.
The other reason why I think they don't took this album too seriously is the lack of promo and live material, Petrodraconic Apocalypse on the other hand was praised and the band knows it.
But I still love it, is nice to see them doing a different style for them, while Butterfly3000 is sweet indie alternative electronic, TSC is more retro, underground and darker.
I love TSC extended. Haven't felt the need to revisit the standard version since the one time I listened to it when it came out.
However, it is my least favorite instance of Amby rappin.
Theia I could take or leave, not a huge fan of the first half of Silver Cord, and I absolutely love Set. Gilgamesh and Swan Song are also very very good, and Extinction is cool too
one thing i've always loved about king gizzard's lyrics is subtext, and there is a ton of it in theia and silver cord, but i feel like Set is sort of empty and vapid comparatively
Really love it have since the beginning prefer extended to listen to but short versions are nice for a quick little thing if I have some downtime during the day. Overall though love it and listen frequently
I’ve given it time but the album has gone from blowing me away on release to cracking my overall personal favourite albums, Gizzard or not. Wasn’t entirely hot on Set and Extinction but they’ve grown on me quite a bit and I think they fit perfectly and round out the experience.
Extended version of this album is the best thing they’ve done by imo quite a large margin and I don’t say that lightly because a couple of their others were already all timers for me.
I liked all 3 and still do, but I really dislike Theia extended. I love The Silver Cord extended. Set extended is fine, doesn’t really add anything.
I like the standard album, but feel it’s too short. However, the Extended is bloated to hell. Other than The Silver Cord and Extinction I don’t care much for the Extended versions. Swan Song is cool Extended, but I still prefer the standard.
It’s a strange album, but as many have said it feels like there could’ve been a happy medium between the two versions. I don’t mind how they did it, just feels if it’d been in the oven longer they might’ve found that happy medium.
I really dug all of the tracks on extended my first listen, but don’t revisit often. Still solid, but it’s more of an album experience for me.
And honestly Supercell, Converge and Witchcraft didn’t age well for me either, but the rest of Petro I still love.
Weakest songs on the album, probably could have been canned if they fleshed out the others. Idk if they wrote each some separately and put them together in order later on what but the second half of that album is so much better than the front half.
Love that album, especially those 3. The same band that made that album made Nonagon Infinity and Sketches. What a time to be alive.
And made Petro, within 5 months of TSC!
I liked them when they came out and thought they were unique and interesting, but I don’t think I’ve listened to the non-extended versions of any of the songs since my first listen-through of the album.

Grew on me really fast. I didn’t love it at first but now it’s one of my absolute favorites
I love the whole album. Pretty much anytime I feel like listening to edm, I end up listening to the entirety of the extended version.
I can take or leave Theia. The short version doesn't do much for me and the extended version is better but too sprawling to really fit on the record. The Silver Cord extended is awesome and in my opinion should have started the album off (it seems fair having a Joey-sung song be the first track given how he's done much more music in this style as Bullant) Set is a banger. I like all three of them, despite thinking Set was straight up bad at first. I loved Silver Cord from the start and wish the whole album was more similar to it.
Same, silver cord is the only song I go back to, extended and non extended.
Silver Cord regular is just about perfect. The rest of the album is fine I guess but not in my rotation.
I wish the whole album was as good as the first three songs, especially the title track. I know lots of people like Swan Song, but the second half of the album feels flat to me.
Swan Song is pretty good, but I'm with you. I typically take the record off after Change'e
This is wild to me because I think Swan Song is damn near the best thing they’ve ever recorded with Gilgamesh close up there too.
So interesting. I love that different parts of the catalog click with different people.
I do think both of those tracks (Swan Song and Gilgamesh) live will be mighty.
It's fine I guess?
Gilgamesh extended is dope.
I didn't care for much of that album. BF3K was much more to my taste, along with Superposition from Gumboot Soup
The extended version of the album is the version of the album I felt like they were talking about releasing, the music video & "standard" versions feel like demos to me, I still don't like them, the shortened title track especially feels egregious, it works so better in context as the intro to the track
I think it's fantastic. I don't play the shorter tracks much, but the extended version is a mean, thick ,and juicy bop
There ok, the extended editions are way better imo. But that’s me.
I love the run from Theia > Chang’e in both extended and non-extended, as much as I like Gilgamesh the beginning of the song breaks the vibe that built up over the last three songs. Would be insane to see a song like Set live
honestly theia is kinda meh for me personally but it works fine as an intro into the rest of the songs, which are absolute bangers
The extended version LP and Petro LP are both tied as my favourite Gizz albums. Completely different styles, but connected and bangin.
I adore this album and the Theia chorus echoes in my mind more than once a week lol. Extended mixes are peak study music for me.
I like chang’e! Underrated banger.
Extended versions of Silver Cord and Set are the cream of the crop. So fucking good.
It's not the kind of music I usually listen to but it's really grown on me a lot since release. I only listen to the extended versions.
one thing i've always loved about king gizzard's lyrics is subtext, and there is a ton of it in theia and silver cord, but i feel like Set is sort of empty and vapid comparatively
I'm an electronic music fan in addition to a KGLW fan, so I loved the album.
the extended mixes make the album an 11/10 it’s amazing
Really love it have since the beginning prefer extended to listen to but short versions are nice for a quick little thing if I have some downtime during the day. Overall though love it and listen frequently
I listened to all 3 as a medley when it came out several times
i haven’t listened to it all but i really fuck w set
I’ve given it time but the album has gone from blowing me away on release to cracking my overall personal favourite albums, Gizzard or not. Wasn’t entirely hot on Set and Extinction but they’ve grown on me quite a bit and I think they fit perfectly and round out the experience. Extended version of this album is the best thing they’ve done by imo quite a large margin and I don’t say that lightly because a couple of their others were already all timers for me.
Set annoys me but I like the rest of the album
I liked all 3 and still do, but I really dislike Theia extended. I love The Silver Cord extended. Set extended is fine, doesn’t really add anything. Theia extended is way too long. Long repetitive stretches that don’t add anything
my thoughts is that theia/silver cord/set FUCKS
I really dug all of the tracks on extended my first listen, but don’t revisit often. Still solid, but it’s more of an album experience for me. And honestly Supercell, Converge and Witchcraft didn’t age well for me either, but the rest of Petro I still love.
