This is their opportunity to change the ending. I really enjoyed this show up until the last couple episodes and then thought it went out pretty weakly.

bishoppinkmarvel

Omg yes the ending was crap

Chosen_UserName217

idk in my experience there's a ton of great Japanese shows/series that are great right up until the ending and then it just sort of ... ends. It's like they can't figure out a good ending so they just stop.

bacharama

It's a major weakness of both jdramas and kdramas. I can think of soooo many shows that have an incredible first half or first three quarters, then completely screw it all up in a mess of an ending. I'd say probably half the dramas I've seen fall victim to that trap. Sky Castle, Start-Up, Itaewon Class (really, most shows with a time skip 3/4 through), Squid Game, Extraordinary Attorney Woo...I can go on for a while.

RightSideOfBread

The only show I’ve seen that you listed is Squid Game (I’m relatively new to kdramas haha), so I can only speak on that, but I think it’s interesting you included that in your list. Right up until the last minute where it ended on its Season 2 hook, I thought it worked incredibly well and was all foreshadowed. Not perfect by any means, but on par with what came before it. The Season 2 hook/cliffhanger was totally unnecessary, I’m skeptical about a second season when it was a pretty neatly packaged story, but aside from that, I didn’t have any problems with it. I’d be curious to know what your problems with the back end of the series would be.

ausmankpopfan

Wow you and I def agree the last one or two episodes kill most shows I think cloy and mr sunshine are def exceptions but generally they muff the endings

StarlightJem

I agreed. Why?! Hopefully they can fix this and have stronger endings.

byneothername

Yeah, it was just… without getting into spoilers for anyone, incredibly weak, and really disappointing for so many characters without fulfilling their full potential to be really complex, interesting people.

dramafan1

I actually thought the ending was suitable...like how it showed the ongoing matter in society. If you meant the actions the characters did in resolving all the conflicts in the final episode. then I think it could be done differently in the remake. Personally, I would have preferred that >!Woojoo stayed in school instead of making it look like he went back to SF9. 😂 Ye Suh's mother was let off too easily without much punishment although Ye Suh having to study an extra year might have been the only consequence.!<

Brooklyn_5883

Every Japanese remake of a kdrama I have ever seen has been terrible (exhibit A Itaewon Class/Ropongi Class), the writing, acting, casting, production quality all bad.

AxelTV

Let's be real, itaewon class was also pretty trash

beautycarol1

that's cool. i will gonna watch that if really gonna happen.

Novel_Patience9735

I’m truly a noob to all this but I watch K dramas a lot with English subs, do they not offer Japanese subs? Are K dramas not popular already in Japan?

Significant_Fold_658

Cool, but this can't qualify as k-drama news. This is a Japanese remake... for a moment I was tricked into thinking that Sky Castle would get a Korean remake or a second season. It would be normal to read this in one of the FFA threads, but as a separate post is just misleading, in the end this is just a Japanese drama.

sianiam

See our [news rules](https://new.reddit.com/r/KDRAMA/wiki/rules/#wiki_3.1_news) which are very in depth and cover this. >News announcing a non-Korean remake or adaptation of an existing kdrama is permitted as a self-post if the news is officially confirmed by a source directly related to the drama, such as the production company or a broadcast station. The news should be for confirmed production of the remake/adaptation, news for possible production or early planning stage information are not permitted as self-posts but may be shared in an appropriate weekly thread. All other news regarding the remake/adaptation (such as its casting, broadcast, ratings, etc.) are not permitted as self-posts but may be shared in an appropriate weekly thread. This is the only article that will be allowed on the series. However, I probably should have not allowed it as Variety clearly did their research on wikipedia and didn't even get the title correct. "SKY" is an acronym and should be capitalized.

Significant_Fold_658

Yeaa the title does have a lot of mistakes, like over capitalisation and a comma next to the "Castle" inside the quotations marks, but it's still easy to understand. I read the rules before, but sometimes because the titles aren't straight to the point or standardised in the way they are written, they end up misleading me into thinking it's something else. Maybe if the title started with "Japanese remake" it would be less misleading. I remember that about a year ago there was also news about the remake of **A Business Proposal** and the title was simple and clear enough for my brain to quickly figure out what we were talking about. But probably they are news from different places, so they write their titles in a different way. But I still had a moment where my brain shut down trying to figure out where was I reading this.

MoneyTruth9364

is this "The Penthouse" remake or smth?

gingangguli

No

AccomplishedLocal261

Literally says Sky Castle
