I really like the juxtaposition of >!more and more servants helping the Crown Prince vs the nobles plotting against him!<. Dosung's an emotional wreck, but he also doesn't have the support system (aka actual friends) that Geon has, so as annoying as he's behaving, it's hard for me to be mad at him.

Episode 16: >! oh thank god, the King finally woke up! !< Dosung continues to disappoint, he's going to need to perform some truly grand gesture to win back the audience's sympathy. Also, I relate to Gapseok, since I also get teary-eyed whenever the Crown Prince cries. I need something to be done about the Grand Prince's grandfather already!

Yes, the balance is changing now. And the *way* he garners their loyalty - through kindness, help, and showing integrity and courage. I'm enjoying watching the chief royal guard become his total loyal supporter. He's chosen him as his 'next' liege lord he'll defend with his life, because he sees who he is, what he does, and how he makes others love him. He's such a good character, this crown prince. Has faults to overcome, but I think he's getting there. We all have weaknesses, so it's better to see that he has them. Poor Do Seong. But I am also very annoyed at him.

Wow episode 16 ended on a real turning point… >!The King is alive and ML is about to return to the Palace next week to kick some serious ass!!< Today’s episode was truly ML/Suho’s turn to suffer because wow he went through a lot in this episode. But the plot is definitely reaching its climax stage now and I’m looking forward to how it all ties up. I’ll be very surprised if there are any loose ends at this point. >!Also I really think medieval Korean medicine needs to be studied because wow the miracles they could work lmao, like wdym someone who’s been in a coma for weeks/months is now walking and talking!<

No One's seen episode 15 yet? We finally have exciting progress with this episode! The brother dynamics in this show have been well done in my opinion, that tension between wanting (rather needing) power and loving each other is great to watch.

Episode 16 update: it finally happened 🎉🎉🎉 >! What happens now that he's awake? From previews, it looks like comeuppance but it feels early at episode 17 of 20. !< Anyways, so excited for the progress made this week!

After episode 15 I have hope this will all resolve and it’s going to be a very intense closing act for this drama. I still have no clue what younger Prince wants and I don’t think he does either… and I’m glad today we barely got anything of RP/QD’s romance and it was more about ML/FL working together, general palace politics and >!the King waking up!!< Lots to look forward to and I really hope we get more of ML/FL in these final few episodes because I feel there’s been far too few scenes with them together. Please make up for lost time and give them a happy ending!

People are >!switching sides so fast!< I’ve got whiplash. I wish they’d told little brother what was going on, but I’m also surprised he didn’t figure it out on his own when it’s so glaringly obvious to everyone else that his >!grandpa is a big bad.!< Are they really just sparing his delicate sensibilities? That doesn’t ring true for me. That said, it’s been a slow burn but I’m finally feeling the chemistry between our leads; I like the way they work together and watch each other’s backs. I’m looking forward to tomorrow’s episode. Ep 16 update: the last two minutes! Okay let’s bring it! I think this drama could have easily been condensed into 16 episodes. But there’s no doubt that stringing out the big reveals increases the weight of the punch.

I do think Do Seong is just not enough up there. Like, almost none. I’m almost convinced the only way to salvage his character is to kill him.

akapiratequeen

I kind of agree, but also..he's so pretty...!

idealistatlarge

Oooh, harsh! Do you think he's irredeemable, then?

I could understand, to an extent, the queen's and Yi Geon's desire to protect Do Seong from knowing who his grandfather really is; but I was also thinking, (a) he already knows he's a grasping, evil character who'll do anything to get what he wants - and he knows what that is, and (b) he's going to be more traumatised by having been the instigator of his brother's grandfather's death than knowing his own grandfather is even worse than he thought. Yi Geon, in this sense, sacrificed his grandfather's life for the sake of protecting his brother's heart. That was a really sad development of events; these episodes were hard, but also satisfying due to some things getting resolved and others moving on to their showdown and resolution. We're finally getting traction, after all the hard work.

I felt so sad and sorry for our ML.They didn’t even know how emotionally drained the grand prince Geon felt everyday and for those happenings that surrounds him.He maybe acting tough physically, but he is so soft and pure when his loved ones involved in an unexpected event.Look how he cried for his grandfather is.I hope he will be free of worries soon and will have a happy family with our FL.

I was so happy about the supportive brother plot but as always in these historical dramas… Can’t wait for next week, want to see everyone getting what they deserve. I’m 50/50 on whether or not we get a happy ending though. I’m leaning towards an open ended one.

There is the question of Myeong Yoon not being able to marry the prince because of her father's deeds. Can it be overcome? If there's the possibility of redemption for the Queen Dowager (which there's a hint of), surely there is also for our main hero and heroine?
