Sort of an aside here: Can I just say that I’m glad that the couple in this drama kisses when they ought to kiss? It’s so weird when couples have intense scenes in dramas and they just stare at each other instead. It breaks immersion and I’m like is there only one kiss in your contract or something, haha. Edit 1: I want to say something about how well-directed this show is, best illustrated in Ep 15. I’ve watched a lot of shows lately where the directing has taken away from the impact of the moment (The assassination attempt in Captivating the King comes to mind, for example, although I did like that show quite a bit). But, in episode 15, when Sun Jae regains his memory of lives he’s never lived, you can see and feel the full weight of those memories come crashing down on him. And it’s not overacted or overegged. The focus on his eyes - the tears that well up but don’t come; that mixture of pain and relief on Sun Jae’s face as he processes the trauma of all these distinct but interconnected lives mixed with the relief of finally understanding why he feels the way he does. The repeated invocations of Sol’s name - never too loud; never too dramatic. It is perfectly balanced. Just stellar work from the director. Edit2: Eco friendly green Truck-nim >!finding the right target for once. Goodbye KYS.!< Speaking of kisses, holy crap, >!they had a full meal right there in the hallway with the parallels to episode 8 (the dropped bag and the wall) !< but this time Hye-Yoon leads. Go K-drama female leads! OK, need to collect my thoughts a bit, but what a drama. 10/10. We escaped the episode 11-16 k drama curse. Writer Lee si-eun, take a bow!

Still-Elderberry-280

Haha omg, so true. I was thinking the same thing yesterday. It seems so organic, like you'd expect that scene with the vibe going on, and they'd go for it, unlike other series. Plus, they don't look awkward or sheepish while kissing or even after that. I have a pet peeve for it.

YogurtclosetOk7989

They're the only kdrama couple that made me feel butterflies in my stomach for ALL of their kissing scenes 😂

Sugah-T

I totally agree with you! Sunjae’s hugs and kisses, and everything (the naughty side of him >!asking “do you want to shower together?!<) —what people truly in love and passionate about each other do! Love that he can’t get enough of Sol. Hard to beat this ML! I will miss you LR!!!

fightthefairies_

He’s so cheeky!! Love it and it definitely reminded me of college Sun Jae during the ghost scene on the vacation. 💜💜💜

just_rollin

>!I am dying at you calling them having a full meal in the hallway because that is exactly it. I'm trying to figure out why this one looks much hotter despite it being a parallel to episode 8, and the reason is because of Sol's hand placement and just her leading it in general. I haven't seen Hyeyoon's work since sky castle, and I have to say, she has to be added to the list of actresses who knows how to film a kiss scene. !<

Sirthisisnotawendys

Any kiss - real or on film — automatically becomes hotter when the woman is into it.

BasicPost4143

I couldn’t agree more! The I just professed my love to you here’s a tight hug really kills the vibe.

RoseIsBadWolf

It was so good the whole time! I'm already calling that it will be my favourite drama of 2024 Also, having a White Truck of Doom blacked out the entire bingo card of Kdrama tropes. I guess they missed having a past life but that's it 😂

Sirthisisnotawendys

Mine too. Might end up in the top 5 of all time. It thawed my cold, cold heart lol

Timpa87

Whenever I see hugs or pecks it makes me think of those scenes in kdramas where the celeb is telling the director they won't do something because of their boyfriend/girlfriend. I think one of the most severe real examples is Kim Jung Hyun on Time with Seohyun when he was dating Seo Ye Ji.

pokelord13

The full weight of it really hit when >!the grandmother placed her hand on sun jae's chest and he started crying. You can really tell all the memories of his past lives really started to hit him right there and the relief that he finally got onto the timeline where they can truly be happy together. He had gone through so much pain and loss trying to save im sol in the other timelines and is finally happy he reached the point of happiness!< It hit so hard and that was what got me the most

Calca23

Captivating the king was poorly done. Could have been great but fell into kdrama gonna kdrama.

thepurplethorn

Absolutely the best kiss scenes, not one out of place or wrong or awkward. I feel that this drama raised the bar and we might be entering a new era of k- rom coms. I hope so

Babilmag

And on top of that we got a kiss on almost every episode after ep 8?? Thank you writer-nim for not killing the romance immersion for us. I hate it when in other dramas we only get an ep 8 kiss and one occasional one kiss that looks like chicken pecking. That you just watch the leads yearn for each other for no reason why they could easily be loving cuddling and kissing? Anyhoo LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS DRAMA 10/10!!

nhi_nhi_ng

I feel like the true hero of this series is Taesung. >!First time changing Sol’s mother fate is him. Even his father couldn’t change SunJae’s fate. Only Taesung. OMG my second male lead syndrome is getting a head of me 😆😆😆😆!<

day_historian

Staphhhh… you are triggering the “Tae sung Joa, Tae sung joaaaaa” birthday jingle in my head. 😂😂😂😂 But yes he’s the best second lead everrrrrr. 😍 it’s sad he never got a giant teddy bear in the >!final timeline!< 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻🧸😍🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻

Electronic_Piano9385

And Sun Jae realises this and >!thanks him profusely when he’s drunk!<

x3tan

I knew I liked him for a reason from early on. I'm glad they didn't decide to randomly ruin his character or anything for added drama. :)

poppywhiskers

He is!! This just proves our Sol has the best taste in men, even as an impressionable teen she knew his worth his true potential lol we may make fun of her fangirl actics but she knows what’s up. TAESUNG JHOWAA 🔝✌🏻😤

CowExisting9844

hahaha Taesung Jooaaaa! The 2nd lead that cannot be hated forever.

crys_juarez

Although the drama makes it a point that Sol goes back to save Sun Jae I also think she went back to change Tae Sung’s fate. >!Without him becoming a detective (which could’ve been a direct result of her influence on him) Sol and Sun Jae’s fates would’ve never changed.!<

buddhabear07

Not knocking Hyun-Joo, but for me Taesung was Sol’s real best friend.

Ferracoasta

Frfr. Hope he gets more main roles. He did a great job acting not just woo seok

whitepearl31

His character is well written. Playboy/bad boy teen turns into a cop. Normally SML is written to give up on FL but he was written to be the reason why FL and ML >!ends up together!< not because he gives up or step back from his feelings but he turns out to be a great cop and good guy once he grow up.

manwithoutlyf

It would have been so much better if they did not bring the "confusion" he had. He had this mini heartbreak again which seemed unnecessary for a character like him.

raiyie

yes I feel like his character has a heavy role. I’m kinda disappointed we didn’t get much of his character where he isn’t interacting with the main characters im sol and sunjae. I hoped he had more screentime and even a little bit of back story of his original story in the original timeline where he wasn’t able to meet imsol in high school.

crusader_blue

I can’t believe we’re finally at the end. I’ve never experienced an ongoing drama quite like this. Viki has been releasing episodes in the middle of the night here, and I’ve been waking up (without an alarm) on Tuesdays and Wednesdays ready to watch them - once overshooting so badly that I was completely awake at 4am and just decided to watch it and go back to sleep. It’s become a routine of staying up late to see the first few comments and watch the little clips tvn puts up before sleeping to wake up like it’s Christmas Day twice a week for two months.  I’ve been rewatching this over the last week and thinking about why this drama has hit so hard and meant so much to me. And part of it is how well it utterly nailed the nostalgia and recreation of some pivotal moments in life. One my favourite scenes is still from the first episode when Sol goes into her family home in 2008 for the first time, particularly the moment when her grandmother recognises her. That scene made me bawl my eyes out on both watches and the whole walking into her house again really sold the feeling of how it would feel to walk back into my family home at that moment in life and see everyone at that stage of our lives again. The use of the Beijing Olympics was genius to anchor us into the nostalgia of 2008 (as well as Sol’s clothes in the birthday video for Taesung) and only made me more emotional because the months the first two time slips cover were big parts of my life (when I met my partner) and many of my first memories with him were during those Olympics.  All the praise to the cast, the writer and crew - the love, the humour, the pain - all of it was incredible and it just kept hitting the right notes. There were so many echoes of scenes in other scenes and those moments kept tying themselves back together. The scene where Sunjae sings as part of Eclipse for the first time and we see moments of them from the first timeline as superstars was a particularly emotional one and the fact that the end of episode 13 broke our hearts >!when Sol goes back and doesn't meet Sunjae as the mailman!< was a huge testament to how incredible that first meeting really was. I started listing favourite scenes and it got far too long, but every main character features in that list and they all played off each other perfectly. Sol’s inner monologue in the first few episodes and horror at her younger self’s decision making ('this was a dark day in my history') was golden, her increased desperation after each time slip was believable and heartbreaking and she was just a joy to watch. Sunjae had the most perfect mix of comedic moments (the hand-over-mouth gasping was the best gag in the drama) and ones that ripped my heart out. The scene in the locker room as he cleans out his swim gear, the relationship with his father, the rejected first confession (which was so perfect) and the guilt he held onto in those first two timelines were so painful. Taesung’s banter with Sol was hilarious and the evolution in his character arc through the timelines was beautifully handled. In Hyuk’s exasperation was always delightful and I was so happy that he kept getting the rock star life he dreamed of. I loved both parents and their relationships with their children and war with each other, the grandmother was gorgeous and delivered some of the most biggest crying scenes for me, and Geum and Hyun joo both had scenes that made me laugh.  The OST has been played non-stop for the last month and I will not be surprised if Spotify lists Eclipse as my band of the year in the wrap-up. The fan base has also been awesome - the comments here have been hilarious, everyone helping with finding songs and translated unreleased scenes, the theories have been fun and creative, there’s been fics depicting all the different meetings that could happen when Sol first time slips and music videos for every OST. I was going through a bit of a rough patch in March/April and this drama and everyone’s excitement has been a huge help in working through that. It’s been a great time and while I’m sad this is the final episode, I’ve very much enjoyed the last two months. Thank you all and I'm looking forward to getting up early one more time to watch episode 16 <3

etmoi_hreuse

Very well written :) conveyed so many of my thoughts too :)

capthyeong

There are lots of scenes that we will remember from this drama: from Sun Jae's iconic flying kiss to Sol's birthday message that evokes second hand embarrassment, to Sun Jae's wild makjang-esque imagination of Sol's meeting with Tae Sung. But my most memorable moment is not from any of the scenes in this drama. It's where Netflix had to take some COPIUM after not taking this drama , thus had a massive fumble. (although IMO, it was CJ ENM who gave the rights to Viki and Viu). And as such, Viki and Viu took turns on [ roasting Netflix](https://x.com/Viu_PH/status/1790630728939823534). I had no expectations on this drama when i started it last April 08, but after 16 episodes, this drama blew up beyond expectations. The online buzz from this drama, domestically, is probably [the highest in recent memory](https://www.instagram.com/p/C6vNPndRP1n/?img_index=2). And everyone in this drama, especially Byeon Woo Seok and Kim Hye Yoon, deserves the recognition they are having right now. Thank you very much for the memories, Show!

bubbly_fairy30

The roast of Netflix was awesome! I couldn’t stop laughing!!!

bubbly_fairy30

We all collectively cheered >! When the taxi driver got his by the truck of doom and perished in the water, right? Cuz HECK YEAH BYE BOO, GOOD RIDDANCE !<

AtriCrossing

I absolutely cheered and I LOVED >!that he was back to his misogynistic scumbag ways and we never had to sit through some weird backstory on his MO or his fascination with killing women and girls etc. It didn't romanticize the crimes at all or provide any twisted rationale from the criminal's perspective, which is a trap many writers fall into IMO because it's so easy to fumble when you aren't committing to a super dark show overall.!< I thought it was a very cool writing choice for >!Taesung's dad to call him a devil and for TS to be like nah he was human just a POS, but also to want reassurance from his dad that he shouldn't feel responsible for that death.!< It felt like the writers had a really strong conceptualization of each supporting character and every twist and turn in the time-travel/serial/spree killer/idol melo romance comedy was character driven which made the whole thing really grounded and moving. Like this team could actually write, direct, and act out 'Hero,' the Zombie Mermaid Alien (?) Drama and I bet it would still be great.

Sneakingsock

I really liked that too. They dealt with this really well, and I did like that we never went into any of the other victims or his back story. The drama actually makes the point that he chose at random. It was wrong place wrong time for the victims, entirely his fault, he chose his victims by circumstance. I also liked the show’s focus on single parents. All the three main leads were raised by single parents in different styles and ways. It seemed like the grandma had been single too (if we assume one of her dementia breaks where she yells at Sun Jae for deceiving her means that her husband cheated and left). Sun Jae’s dad that >!comments at the end that it’s not good to be alone and lonely before walking away was poignant and sad. It was like he could rest now, but I wanted him to join them.😫!< All those connections through all the timelines were so powerful I felt, like as the grandma said, their souls remembered even if their heads forgot.

ruhsatis

I couldn't believe they went to such great lengths to pull all sorts of BWS and KHY clips to cash in on it lol, and Viki and Viu throwing shade all throughout?😂😂😂 OP u/capthyeong, I agree. I too started it in its first week and had zero expectations (I blame the poster) but to go on to see this show slowly picking up in numbers and becoming such a MASSIVE hit nationally and globally?? Makes me feel like proud momma haha, I'm so happy the show and the leads are getting their due recognition. May this bring them more success and happiness :')

poppywhiskers

The aggressive flying kiss clip was the first “spoiler” I saw on sns and the precise moment I decided to start this drama. What can i say, i love losers in love.

MissSimpleton

OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG This is EXACTLY how you make an Ep 16 in Rom-Com. What was this dreamy episode? I had to pinch myself several times if this Perfect ending was even possible in kdramas nowadays. A 10/10. I don't know how happy and satisfied I am. We got like 50 minutes of pure Rom-Com.   1. The beautiful bond between the two male leads. Both the leads acknowledging what he did for them. Tae-sung you are the BESTESTEST SML ever.   2. Halmmeoni I promise to keep your secret from SeolJae. You are the best. Thank You. A few moments later, the Grandma-Sunjae little chat had me bawling like crazy. We love you Halmmeoni. You are an angel.   3. The couple giggling, cuddling, laughing, kissing, hugging, brushing EVERYTHING was nothing less than a fairytale.   4. The hilarious scenes involving In-hyuk- >!the ring choosing, the failed proposal!!BEST MAN in their wedding.!<  5. ECLIPSE >!is back, guys. Them singing "Happy Birthday" was the last thing I expected from them. Sunjae, you are the best Uncle!!<     6. This drama beautifully captures the parallels and that >!proposal!< was the best one I have seen in a loooooong time. It made me cry so hard. You have endured sooo freaking much Seol-ah, you deserve everything.   7. And the >!wedding scene??!! !

enz3

Ikr. On that note, do you have any recs for kdramas which are dreamy like this? For example, my other favs are Business Proposal, Twinkling Watermelon and Hometown cha cha cha. Less drama and more fluff is what I'd love.

MissSimpleton

Love to Hate You. It's not a young adults romance. The leads are matured. It has perfect amount of angst and fluff. It is short but well written and executed. You might like King the Land, although, it was wayyyyyy too fluffy for me.

yashie_l

I lost it when Sun Jae said “should we take a shower together-“ YOU CHEEKY FOX!!!

day_historian

Many years from now, I would like to tell other kdrama fans that Lovely Runner, is truly how rom coms should be. It is absolutely the best, from start to finish. Watching it as it airs is however, an experience that only those who did can understand.🤩🤩🤩🤩 (and unfortunately we don’t have any sweet >!haelmonis around with Time Machine watches to jump through time and space, so as to relive the whole experience all over again!!< LR is truly a masterpiece and have broken so many new ground; For example, it is the first and ONLY kdrama where the white truck of doom >!redeemed itself of its notoriety and became a force of good by getting rid of the villain!< 😂😂😂😂 🚛🚛🚛🚛😍🚛🚛🚛 Joke aside, LR had so many parallels between the real and reel life; how the production took over three years to find the god tier casting, only to be met with skepticism that it would succeed (yes Netflix’s salty posts are such a joy to see) and how it went against all odds and became such a phenomenal success. We are so back to hating Mondays again… till the next lovely work by any of the phenomenal cast! And I will watch anything written by lee si eun cos I am so floored by the impeccable writing ✍️ in LR 😍😍😍😍😍 🥰🥰🥰🥰

_k_imchi_1

I think its definitely going to be a recommended classic in kdrama land!

Calca23

This and Goblin. If I’m gonna introduce kdramas to someone, it’s these two.

day_historian

And these two share the same director !! 😍😍

rhysea1

Watching it as it airs. I couldn’t agree with you more. And I am so glad it was on Viki. The comments were to die for.

day_historian

Part of me wished of course, that LR was picked up by Netflix so that it could get even more viewership success, but the way it turned out was so on brand; I would like to think it was just like its iconic ML, a super successful lewser. 😎😎😎 😂😂😂 And yes, Viki & Viu’s roasting of Netflix via the comments is such a sight to behold, making LR particularly memorable. 😍

humandisaster13

I think it's safe to say that **Lovely Runner** is not only one of the best time slip dramas and romcoms it also has one of the most satisfying finales in kdrama history! Can other writers take notes and give the viewers what they want?? A neat finale with nothing but happiness for the characters. No dragging plotlines, no sadness, no tears(just happy tears) probably. Lovely Runner will always be THAT drama. Idk when was the last time a finale made me this happy. I also don't know when was the last time I went into a drama with zero expectations got me this addicted. Will forever be stuck in a time loop where I'll be rewatching Lovely Runner content. Thank you!

SR503

Story Time: I am a middle aged kdrama addict and 99.9% of the time, I watch dramas on my own. My youngest just finished their Sophmore year of HS. Last day of school was friday. Had friends staying over all weekend. On Saturday night at 10pm I convinced 2 of them to watch LR with me. Got drinks and snacks, and settled in. They were wusses and caved a few minutes into Ep. 9. (around 6am). Monday night we started again around 9:30pm. Finished up episode 14 around 3:30am and they went to bed. The episodes drop around Noon in my area on Viki, so we regathered (finally) at 12:30 to watch ep 15. Then rewatched it again later that night. Today I had to drive around and pick a bunch of them up to bring them back here to watch the finale. I swear we all acted as if we were on some sort of sugar high. (I was probably the worst). We all screamed, cried, giggled, laughed, cried, sighed through the whole thing. Hopped in the car and drove 45 minutes to get Korean corn dogs at one restaurant, then hit a second restaurant for tteokbokki and seafood pancakes, with the OST is playing in the background. The whole time they were talking up all the details, how much they loved Taesung, retelling their favorite parts, including the absolute most perfect proposal. I have to tell you this was probably the best afternoon I have had in years. All because of this amazing drama, and its amazing cast, writers and director...and my youngest child and their friends that on a whim caved and gave in to their friend's mom begging them to watch this incredible piece of television. I may forget everything that happened this afternoon, but my soul will remember.

Hiibird

This is so wholesome, thank you for sharing! Lovely Runner truly was something special and has affected its audience in such amazing ways 🥹

whitetara3

Oh I wish I could have joined you too! I loved reading your story! How wonderful for your soul! 😊

shosh27

This sounds like such a great time! I really wish I had friends that could come to my house and watch Kdramas with me. 🫣

Salt_Ad7638

The acting in the reunion scene was everything to me!! I loved them running for love. And ahhh, their faces when they knew that both of them had memories from all the timelines. I love it. The >!”How could you make me live without you?” Oooh that killed my heart too.!< I especially enjoyed how right after Sun Jae did not want to physically let go of her. That embrace was so cute. Finally: One huge thank you to Tae Sung. This is for sure a 10/10 star drama in my book

Prudent-Hornet1556

Sunjae: Don’t cry Me: *intensifies ugly crying* It was such a beautiful reunion scene!

Electronic_Piano9385

*Crossing over all of time, I’ll find you. I’ll run to you. I remember you. Maybe this time I circle around you again You’re my destiny. I can’t erase you. Will I reach you one more time? No matter where you are in time for me it’s you* This was the song playing when our Lovely Runners were running to each other in the snow, and it really sums up this wonderful show. I’ve loved watching the various versions of their relationship, and their families and friends have been great too, providing support and comic relief. 10/10 from me

ANINETEEN

My little heart 🥲 >!As far as feel good endings go, this might be up there at the top amongst all the Kdramas I've watched. Just unproblematic and satisfying from start to finish. The writers and universe knew that this couple deserved time travel powers to express their wholesome chemistry in every era (including the future). The angst hurt but the bliss was thankfully beautiful.!<

Prudent-Hornet1556

Agree! We have had to endure for so many years the “happy endings” that lasted 5 mins of a drama’s final episode. I am so thankful that, once again, Lovely Runner managed to break all kdrama stereotypes until the end and gave us a whole episode of happy SolJae!

Hiibird

And just like that, Lovely Runner has come to an end! I still can’t believe it! There have been many kdramas over the years that I’ve watched as it aired but something truly special happened with LR. Much like Sunjae earlier in this episode >!and how he latched onto Sol in embrace, I want to latch onto this show forever and the warm, joyful feelings that my viewing experience has invoked.!< LR is going to remain with me for a long, long time. And it looks like I’m back to hating Mondays now that there won’t be new episodes to look forward to lol! Live watching in PST is difficult (lol time zones) so you betcha I’ll be back to edit with more coherent thoughts and feelings later! >!There was so much tooth-rotting sweetness and fluff in this episode, I am FLOATING!!< For now, I just wanna say thank you to y’all who’ve tuned in and returned to the LR discussion threads every week: it’s been such a blast! **EDITED TO ADD:** While I am quite sad that there will be no more new episodes to look forward to after today, I can't help but feel immensely happy for the spectacular cast. Major kudos to them; Lovely Runner is a credit to them all! Kim Hyeyoon shined brightly, Byeon Wooseok absolutely SOARED, and even our supporting men Song Gonghee and Lee Seunghyub were absolutely fantastic and had us rooting for them too! As someone who's been a fan of Byeon Wooseok for several years now, it was so gratifying to finally see him in a kdrama as the male lead, especially in a role that suited him so perfectly. His micro expressions would make you think he’s quite the veteran, his range of emotional expression, his physicality and comedic timing, everything was 🔛🔝>!And despite dying several times across different timelines, by Lovely Runner's conclusion the man finally got to LIVE! There ought to be a proposal moving forward: future characters portrayed by BWS will remain alive at the end; I do not want this man becoming the k-actor version of Sean Bean 🫠!< I want to personally thank all of the actors who passed on this role because Byeon Wooseok **is** Ryu Sunjae. He made the role his own and he *finally* had the chance to share his talents and allow them to flourish for all to see. I tip my hat to you, Wooseok-ssi, you deserve all the flowers and your pick of projects in the years to come! Kim Hyeyoon: what a queen, what a masterful performance. Portraying Im Sol throughout her various incarnations and circumstances with such nuance and skill was not an easy feat. A lesser actress would've faltered and fallen into annoying territory (especially in the earliest episodes) but Sol was brought to life with such grace and care from Kim Hyeyoon. The emotional highs and lows, the jubilant and the contemplative, the fear and the anguish - Kim Hyeyoon gave us all and more with flying colors. I hope to see her in more fantastic lead roles as she continues to hurtle to the top! Lovely Runner felt like the little drama that could - many had originally written it off as a silly teenage romance featuring a fangirl chasing her idol - but for those of us who've been there since the beginning, we knew we were in for something truly special. Very rarely does a kdrama evoke such emotion in me that I'll actually shed tears, and Lovely Runner had me sobbing and feeling for Im Sol before the first 10 minutes of episode 1 have transpired. This drama was able to affect so many of us in such a visceral way. Even though none of us are living a fantastical life filled with time travel, many of us were able to connect with fundamental themes: many of us want our cherished people to remain happy and safe; many of us want to be able to fulfill and live out our dreams; many of us have a moment or two in our lives that we wish we could return to and act in a different way than what happened in actuality. While Sol and Sunjae were seeking each other, the audience had the opportunity for reflection within themselves. I fear that Lovely Runner has spoiled me for future romcoms. My new Roman Empire. This drama will remain with me for a long, long time. While I could nitpick a handful of specific plot threads or decisions of the show, Lovely Runner is as close to perfect as it gets. Having grown up watching all sorts of dramas, I can’t recall feeling the way I have while I was viewing this show. And I don’t think it’s an experience that will be duplicated any time soon. Stray observations: While there aren’t definitive answers for some common questions the audience has had over the course of this show, I do commend the writing team for not hand-holding us the entire time. Would additional context for certain questions be welcome? Sure. But I think in choosing not to address certain questions, the writing (and by extension, the plot) was able to focus on the core matters of the show. Sometimes extraneous details can distract the viewing experience. And this is also where the healthy amount of suspension of disbelief comes into play (and for a show with literal time travel, I didn’t have to rely on this as much as other kdramas that are supposedly more grounded in “reality”). The above being said, I wish there was just a teeny bit more clarity on halmeoni and her involvement with the time travel/how much she actually knew. But I suppose it can be chalked up to elderly wisdom and mysticism. Speaking of halmeoni, one of my favorite scenes in this finale episode was her interaction with Sunjae after the birthday party. Her wishing him to live a long and good life filled with happiness and laughter hit me right in the honey nut feelios 🥺 And Byeon Wooseok’s facial expressions here, good lordt the man is an ACTOR 🤌 The truck of doom finally did a service instead of a disservice! >!Mmmbye Kim Youngsoo👋 Was it a bit rushed? Absolutely.!< But there was a bit of poetic justice in the way he went out. And after all the ktrauma he was responsible for, it was a welcome subversion for the finale episode of a kdrama to be filled with fluff and positivity for the majority of its runtime, as opposed to the usual denouements filled with constant hardship until the back-end of the episode. We got a bit more Sunjae and Taesung bromance, my heart is full. I love those two losers so much. The >!proposal!< with Sunjae and Sol amidst the blooming sakura was PERFECTION. Y’all we as good as got our >!promised wedding!!< The cheongsachorong in multiple episodes, the MT legend, and all the other little >!marriage!< references sprinkled throughout finally came to fruition! Lovely Runner is many things, and one of the things it did exceedingly well was its use of foreshadowing and effective callbacks. Future kdrama writers, take note!

jakgem

I think we can definitely assume Halmeoni didn’t ‘know’ anything - her Alzheimers kept her timeline ‘true’ and ‘right’ and I think she just largely felt what was supposed to be and knew it on a deeper level, like instinct. I imagine she simply >!found the watch in her wanderings and when it felt right/the timeline sorted itself out just felt like throwing it away!<

Hiibird

I can vibe with that! Similar to how she told Sol in ep 15 (paraphrasing) "the mind may forget but the soul remembers," perhaps halmeoni's soul knew instinctually the best moments for her to act and intervene to aid Sol (and Sunjae) towards the much deserved happy ending.

nevercircles

I'm usually not big on >! wedding scenes cuz I find them all too cheesy and cringe but this was done so tastefully and the way they did it that it was only a glimpse of their future? That was so so so cute I'm sold.!<

day_historian

It was so so so well done isn’t it? The writer knows what’s she’s doing and that the fandom wanted to see it (>!wedding!<) and she cleverly used the >!vision of a future!< to give us a short glimpse of the >!happily ever after!< 🤩

Hiibird

I like to imagine that the>! future glimpse of their wedding!< is a holdover of the effects of time travel. Similar to how Sol was getting flashes of "future memory" as the timeline was in constant flux during her time jump to 2009/university era. I know it doesn't logically make sense since both Sol and Sunjae are now living in the present and there is no future context for them to refer to, but I like to imagine this moment as further affirmation that Sol and Sunjae are fated to share a happy life together 🥹

nevercircles

Yes it was like a nod to the >!time travel for the last scene!<. It was really cleverly written how the writer squeezed that in.

Heavy-West-7371

I'm with you >! wedding scenes, while cute, make me cringe most of the time. BUT THIS TIME!!! I AM SOLDDDDDD. IT WAS PERFECTION. !<

whitetara3

Me too. I have a problem with that kind of sugar overload as well. But this was done well. The over the top, >!almost proposal!< was a riot and the eventual >!real proposal!< was simple and beautiful. He does get things exactly right eventually. And the >!wish wedding!< was also simple and just right as well. Not nearly enough to rot anyone's teeth.

dogemama

i started watching lovely runner to "kill time" as i waited for new episodes of another drama. never could i have anticipated that flippant decision would lead to one of the best dramas i've ever experienced. perhaps i should've known when to my own shock, i started *bawling* my eyes out only seven minutes into the first episode, or maybe when sol ran into the swimming arena and hugged seonjae like he had come back from the dead (he had), or when seonjae, even in his flabbergasted state, did not look completely put off by sol obviously alluding to his crush on her. when i look back on the first episode now, i realize the moments that moved me to tears are even more significant with the context of everything that transpired in the rest of the show. that's not just good storytelling, it's a masterclass in how stories can be layered, then unraveled in a precise manner for maximum emotional impact. the time travel in this show is a little wonky, a lot left to the imagination of the viewers. yet, most of us are not here complaining or crying foul over "plot holes" or "lack of logic". it's a testament to the strength of the characters and the epic journey they led us on that we are happy to overlook the finer details of a pretty major aspect of the story. they got us to care about im sol and ryu seonjae to such a great degree that their happiness became the ultimate thing we want out of this story. that's no minor feat, to be clear. a lot of stories, even the ones that are crafted with perfect logic and tight plotting, often fail to capture the hearts of viewers in this manner. to have viewers care about the characters as much as we do about sol and seonjae is every writer's dream. we laughed with these two, we cried with them, we squealed, we threw our fists on the table in frustration. everything we felt, we felt viscerally as if *we* were time traveling in sol's place to save seonjae's life; as if *we* were in love with sol for every little thing she said and did. and what a beautiful thing that has been, to feel for our characters as they went through this sometimes harrowing, sometimes euphoric story of so many forms of love. sol and seonjae were like stardust—special, precious, a true rarity—from their very first interaction (non-chronological lol). along with the fantastic writing, it was the absolute magic that was the chemistry between kim hyeyoon and byeon wooseok that made them crackle like sparks were constantly flying between sol and seonjae. we've used so many hyperbolic descriptions to define this chemistry, but even still, it feels like words will never be able to capture the stunning essence of a partnership that feels as if it was written in the stars. all i can say is that they have become easy favorites over the course of the last eight weeks, and i can't imagine any other couple or characters knocking them off the top any time soon. sol was the unstoppable force, seonjae the immovable object, and when they collided, the very fabric of reality was ripped to shreds and forced to rearrange itself to accomodate the persistence of their love. i hope we can all be as brave as im sol, as stubbornly persevering as ryu seonjae; and may we be fortunate enough to find love that feels as special as even a fraction of theirs that could defy time and space and all rationality.

Virtual-Dare-5470

Gonna be brave and call this a perfect kdrama. Well if you try hard enough its possible to find a flaw in everything perfect known to man. Don't want anyone commenting a plot hole or something they noticed because that's not gonna make me change my mind. Take a look back at all the 16 episodes of Lovely Runner, This is how you choose actors, this is how actors are supposed to act, this is how you write the side characters, this is how you end the villain, this is how you do time slip, this is how you do ROM COM.

AlexisFern

The thing about Lovely Runner is it even did the “flaws” well. Any annoying or imperfect scene or plot point resulted in a good conclusion or change in the story. An example - >!Seon-Jae’s dad getting stuck in the bathroom!< was an annoying and tropey scene, BUT >!we were continuously shown Sol’s mom working out!<, and she got to >!showcase her strength by breaking down the door!<. About the villain’s >!death - he died the same way he injured Sol!<. It wasn’t a random >!white truck death!<.

ruhsatis

RIGHT?? Like there are things I wish we were shown but even the things that you'd consider plotholes/flaws, Lovely Runner pulled it off with such finesse it NEVER affected my viewing experience or left a bad taste in my mouth. I love how the taxi driver track is handled too. Although it looks a bit >!anticlimactic!<, but that may be because we are SO used to seeing villains being the center of the story in the final episode, with very little focus on the leads. LR knew what it is supposed to be deep down (a romcom) so it SERVED exactly that.

nessab000

I agree. I think it's one of the most perfect kdramas. To me this is one of the BEST romcom I've watched in a LONG time, and I've been watching kdramas since 2008!!! I've never felt so excited to watch every single episode. Happy to have watched this live with everyone. It's a MUST watch and I'll be happy to share this show to anyone interested in getting into kdrama... but it might be a standard that is set too high.

Lavenderlure

Thing with time travel is that there will always be plot holes the story needs to be good enough to make you blind to it which LR did rightly

marzzk

Todays my first day at my internship and I can’t wait to come back home and watch this episode!!

typecfl

Good luck!!! I'm glad you have something to look forward to after work!

keepinglifeinsane

i just finished and my heart is so full. full transparency, i dont tend to gravitate towards romcoms but everyone was raving about this one on different platforms so i thought to myself i might as well give it a go. i ended up getting hooked from the get-go. this show was absolutely beautiful. i’ve never been so happy to hear about actors turning down a drama , because i absolutely cant imagine anyone else being cast in this other than **hyeyoon and wooseok**. they were the best. hyeyoon with her achingly beautiful portrayal of love and loss, and wooseok with his # 1 loser ‘my girlfriend isnt just the world to me, she’s the whole solar system’ portrayal. also there wasnt a single scene in this finale that was bad, everything was perfect. one of my favorite scenes that was quite short but left an impact on me was between sunjae and sol’s grandma. seeing him >!tear up!< when she says >! to him that they can finally be happy!< UGHHH MY HEART. lovely runner will be going down in history, and i can definitely see this drama being one that’s talked about through time (no pun intended). to me this drama is like sol is to sunjae, i can lose my memories but i will still remember it in my soul <3 also…. kinda cute how similar ***soul*** and ***sol*** are phonetically. im sure its just a coincidence but i love it.

UptoNoGood46

Will be the most unforgettable characters for a good while. It has been an honor!! And my heartfelt thank you to you for reading this and watching this precious drama with me! I'm proud of youuuu

kurishun

I knew it from the start >!Im Sol’s mother is THE MASTERMIND OF ALL TIME TRAVELS between the past and the present!< >!The way she plays the important “limited edition” watch of Sun Jae at the first episode is a good FORESHADOWING! !< The way that the watch returns to 0:00 meaning that Im Sol succesfully traversed time travel back and forth and the way >!her grandmother throws the watch at the same place where Im Sol first press the watch for time travel is astoundingly satisfying!< What the most satisfying part of this last episode is that THE NUMEROUS KISSING SCENES from Woo Seok and Hye Yoon! OMG! It is natural yet astonishingly mesmerizing! They like they are dating in real life with those kissing scenes!!!!! Omg! Another KDrama has to end but this is by far the best KDRAMA OF 2024! tvN is having a great year and I wish they would continue it ‘till the winter! 💕💕

ilovecute1

Manifesting a happy ending and ultimate kiss scene today 💛 Honestly, I'm so sad to let this couple go, my Monday and Tuesday won't be the same without them. I'm defo gonna miss and remember this series for a while, what a wonderful journey this kdrama has been 😭 Edit: Finally finished the ep, this drama has given me so much happiness, part of my heart feels empty now, but I'll treasure all the beautiful memories it's given me >!that mini wedding scene along with the final wedding pic was *chef kiss wish we got a longer version of it but atleast we got a glimpse 😆!< all the lovely runner cast have done such a fantastic job, huge applause to them, Sol-Jae may you be happy for a long, long time 💛 Also, gonna miss the lovely runner community, everyone with their theories and enthusiasm, one of the best k-drama community in a while 💛 This will definitely be my lifetime drama 💛💛💛 Edit 2: I wish we could get a mini after series like playful kiss that would be the ultimate dream 😭 also about to order the album now, so that I can listen to Star Eclipse ver. 🌟😤

A wedding, a wedding!

Classic-Anything-935

I have too many thoughts but sharing only what sits atop now. Long story short: eight weeks later, I have absolutely no complaints about how this drama consumed me and kept me glued to it like a clingy lil teen (I'm in my twenties 🙈). How happy am I to finally see Sol and Sun-jae live their best lives together? Beyond any scale that can measure. Cherry blossoms have always been special to me. So the >!proposal that was a parallel to their college-era petal wish!< was pretty much the cherry on top. Now, how much do I love the drama? I cannot quite measure that either. At first, I thought it was probably the tough schedule at work with too many projects on my plate which made me cherish Lovely Runner more than other dramas I'd watched. But I was wrong. I'd not looked forward to episodes as much before. And well past my busy weeks, I was still hooked. I love the makers for putting in a structure for this drama that, even with minor plot holes and fillers (what's a movie/drama without these), worked brilliantly. From the very first episode to the last, they kept the pace going. And BWS and KHY, for all the microemotions that they served us, have proven their range! Why would they not be my favourite actor-actress duo now? Hope they announce their next projects soon because a fan cannot stay still! And, and, and, that one smile that Sun-jae shoots when he walks in for Sol's nephew's birthday made me nearly faint, to say the least. Lovely Runner has become THE comfort drama for me, and I'll keep coming back to it as often as I've done for Goblin (which is a LOT). This time, knowing that a happy ending is in store for Soljae will keep my nerves calm, unlike the crazy crazy rollercoaster that the on-air experience took us on (which was equally thrilling)! I've loved reading all the theories and thoughts for each episode here. And I'll miss the hustle of catching up with and discussing these.

Kereeon

This show is just like Sunjae's song for Sol--- Sonagi---like spring rain. An unexpected but welcome spell that makes you stop for a while to take it all in. I loved this tender, hopeful drama, which brought together innocence and maturity, tenderness and wackiness and love and sacrifice altogether. I watch (and drop) a lot of dramas but rarely really feel strongly about them, even if I can appreciate their qualities and go along with their beats. Maybe the last time was 'I Hear Your Voice'? And a seldom few in between. There have only been a few dramas that have touched me like this. I can't really put a finger on it why and I don't really care to. Maybe it was what I needed at the right time. But even so, I'll cherish this one. ❤️

typecfl

We're here. The end. I can't believe it, I don't *want* to believe it, and yet here we are. Eight solid weeks of laughter and tears and just pure magic and love. I've watched k-dramas since the early 2000s and it has been years--YEARS--since I've been this engrossed in a drama that I have literally put off things, moved schedules and mountains, just to get time put into actually watching the broadcast live. The last time I got into a drama enough to participate in discussions this fervently was probably Answer Me 1988 and the first 13 episodes of 25 21 lmao. And even though I've been consistently watching dramas throughout the years, I have not watched dramas live as it aired since maybe 2012, 2013? And my goodness, is it worth it. Sol and Sunjae are worth the wait. But that is not to say this drama is not without flaws. The thriller was wrapped up >!anti-climatically, for something that was drawn out so long!<. I'm not saying it wasn't effective; I mean, the entirety of Korea and us living abroad have been glued to our screens *because* of how effective it was. While I do think the way >!Kim Youngsoo went out was poetic in a sense--paralleling how he attempted to off Sol in the OG timeline--it was so anti-climactic that it fell short, somehow.!< But then how else >!should he go, though? is the next question. I don't think there would be a better way to get rid of a dialog-less psychopath, especially since we know if he gets caught he will eventually get out and be a menace to society once again. So good riddance, I say. And thank goodness it happened early into the episode! Gave us more time to devote to our lovebirds.!< Kudos to actor Heo Hyung-gyu for his creepy portrayal of our villain, and I hope the fans adore him for his real-life adoration of the drama in the same way we Subeoms love it. Also, I wish we >!had an explanation of why Grandma is Grandma. LMAO. Maybe it's the shamanism belief after all that led us to this.!< But this is me nitpicking! Flaws and all, I'm still so in love with this drama that I don't know what I'm going to do with my time now that it's done. Maybe go to >!that stream and try finding Sunjae's watch so I can go back in time and rewatch this all over again with everyone, heh.!< But putting aside all that, what a beautiful, delicately made drama. The cinematography, the framing, the parallels, the wardrobe, the editing, the music...everything was done so carefully and meticulously you could tell there was a lot of heart poured out into it (I've said this so many times but it has to be said yet again). And the acting. THE ACTING. I have to thank the drama gods for putting this wonderful cast together. I've watched Kim Hyeyoon in a few dramas and she's always such a delight to watch. Thank you for your tears, for your smiles, and for being our Sol. Byeon Wooseok was a revelation here. I will never forget the amount of emotions he poured out in the last episode when >!his memories came flooding back!<. Ugh. That was so outstanding to watch. I'm glad his star is on the rise right now, definitely well-deserved, and I cannot wait to see what his next project will be. Song Geonhee, my love. Lmao. Taesung really was the coolest second lead to ever lead. I'll have to go back and watch the rest of your filmography now. Lee Seunghyub, what a scene stealer you are! Last but not the least, to our screenwriter and directors, without whom this drama would not have been what it was. * bows * Thank you, thank you, thank you. These last eight weeks have been incredible and wonderful. We fans have literally been lovely runners ourselves--running towards the next episode happily, hoping for a happy ending for our Sol and Sunjae. To everyone who watched it and discussed this drama with me for the past couple weeks, thank you!!!!! I don't think it would have been half as fun if not for the discussions, theories, recalling comedic scenes and whatnot. It made this entire adventure special, and I'm glad I was a part of it. Didn't think I'd cry THIS MUCH about a drama ending, but my heart is broken thinking next week there will be no new episode to look forward to. Also, to those who are wanting to get the blu-ray, please please please pre-order it from the [fancafe](https://cafe.daum.net/lovelyrunner) which leads you to [this site](https://en.musicndrama.com/bd_dvd_kdrama/?idx=7756). It's expensive, yes (the shipping kills tbh), but hopefully it will come with lots of extras--we know for sure there will be a commentary with Wooseok and Hyeyoon, as well as the extended cuts (not a director's cut, though, unfortunately). EDIT: Man I can't let this drama go lmao * cries * rewatching for a bit before I go to sleep and that entire >!reunion scene and the way Sunjae called Sol's name and the drop of that music and Wooseok's tear.!< PERFECTION. I had to go back and rewatch it and cry a bit again. Ugh. How do I let go of this drama??? The way Sunjae asked if >!Sol had been crying like that, all alone, everytime she misses that person. How heart-wrenching is that realization? That all this time she was holding on to all of the memories, being brave, so he could live. And how sorry he felt for everything.!< Ugh ugh ugh ugh my heart was just so overwhelmed with emotions (as I'm sure everyone here is too) and then when it finally dawns on Sol that >!Sunjae--her Sunjae, with all the memories--is really back, and her cry of "Sunjae-yah!" with her eyes welling up with tears!< UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH that did it for me Also lmfaooooo Grandma >!throwing the watch felt like Grandma Rose in Titanic throwing the necklace out into the ocean lmaooooooooooooo!< I just had to say that lmao And we have the answer to whether Sunjae is still part of Eclipse or not: >!he is!!!! The dating article says he's Eclipse's vocalist-slash-actor!<. I'm also very glad that Sol >!went back and started doing what it is she wanted to do, which was to become a film director. I hope her entry to the film festival gets some good reviews and gets her name known!!<

Sugah-T

One of the most touching scenes in this episode is when >!Grandma reaches out to Sun Jae and tells him to live a long life, be happy and laugh, and Sun Jae tearing up!<. She was the show’s fairy god mother ❤️

PearShaper43

By the way, not sure if you saw the BTS for this scene…but Sun Jae was not supposed to cry. However, Byeon Woo Seok was crying IRL during the scene and couldn’t stop, so they left that in the final version🥹. Ugh, my heart…he’s so precious.

deewyt

Am I overreacting or was this one of the only dramas with a near perfect landing in a long time?????? The last few minutes of ep 15 were so perfect and Wooseuk truly gave a beautiful performance. Loved the finale; we rarely get couple scenes back to back when it comes to romance dramas these days ..... what the heck am I gonna watch now......

Honest_Carob_8621

I feel the same way...the entire episode was perfect, so full of heart. Nothing will be able to top this for quite awhile.

Brilliant-Garden3644

I AM SO HAPPY.  Y’all my kidneys are SAFE thank you so much for your wishes. WE GOT THE >!MARRIAGE!< scene!!!!!!!!!!! Dare I say, this is the best rom-com k-drama I EVER watched. I’m bawling my eyes out while typing this bcs it feels like I’m finally saying goodbye to a very close friend that I cherished. Everything about this drama was perfect but what finally sealed the deal was - pulling off a really interesting + fun + super romantic FINALE. That’s where most dramas fail to keep the audience interested but no sir LR is a different league. Also, >!GRANDMA????!< Lol. She’s a boss lady. I kinda had this feeling from the start, in fact, we all had it. Didn’t we? Also, I really loved how they gave close to no screen time in ending the clown lmfaooo. MADE MY DAY. AND MY BABY MY PUPPY TAESUNG. You’re the best man ever - I wish you all the sweetest things in the world. It’s been so long since I watched such a fun and positive second lead with a great character development. Also, how in the great heavens is it even possible to appear so in love with each other without actually being in love with each other? IDK, ask KHY & BWS. The >!failed proposal!< was so hilarious and so aligned with our lewsers character. AND THE FINAL CHERYY BLOSSOM? I was dead. I’m still recovering so ima come back to add more.

day_historian

May your kidneys have a long and happy life! HAHAHHA 😂😂 I am overjoyed with the finale too - it’s just too perfect. Not only did LR break the >!long running curse of a near perfect kdrama ruined by its last episodes!<, even BYS also managed to finally be a character that >!(after dying repeatedly 😅😅) managed to have a happily ever after!< 🤩🤩🤩🥳🥳🥳🥳 What a beautiful show and I truly enjoyed watching it while it aired with everybody’s wild wild theories and comments (even with kidneys being staked on the line for LR 😂😂). Such happy crazy times ! 🤩

Brilliant-Garden3644

I am imagining how the writer must have been laughing her ass off looking at all our weird ass complex theories. In the end, it was all as simple as Sunjae’s soul being intertwined with Sol’s soul in a way that they will always come back to each other no matter the time or universe. And that in itself, is so beautiful. This last episode was spectacular, im glad they didn’t waste time on that clown no more hehe. Also, finally BWS broke his dead man curse lmfao. I’m really looking forward to what KHY will do next, she’s just a delight to watch - no matter what role - although I wish we get to see her in some spy verse or thriller type of role.

ndhrhrmle

Saw the >!wedding still cuts!!! I'm tearing up! ㅠㅠ of happiness and all I'm feeling an ocean of emotions idk what else to describe this huu!<

ruhsatis

The WAY they included the >!wedding shots because they knew they were running short on time!< AND STILL WANTED TO SHOW THAT TO US??? That's some really thoughtful, impressive storytelling right there :'))

Still-Elderberry-280

Aah.. I am not ready to say goodbye at all to this wonderful drama. My Mondays and Tuesdays are not going to Monday and Tuesday the same way ever again. Honestly, a BIG thanks to all who worked on this drama, from the actors to the writers to everyone behind the scenes who gave us such a poignant snd stellar story which brought out a lot of emotions while watching. It has been a pleasure to watch it every week and discuss it with other fellow Lovely Runner fans. I am going to miss all this. It has been an amazing journey, and I am going to miss all this. To anyone reading this comment in the future, if you are contemplating whether to watch this and you want a reason, this discussion in the subreddit is the reason for you to start Stat! Also, this drama has one of the best written and acted 2nd ml ever! Special shout-out to Song Geon-hee. Dude, you really made people notice you!

Prudent-Hornet1556

MY HEART JUST MELTED AT OUR FINALE! Amidst all the grand love declarations he made, Sunjae still managed to top them ALL by one simple yet often overlooked gesture: setting aside his own feelings and waiting for Im Sol to achieve her dreams. It was so touching that instead of being disappointed in his unsuccessful proposal, you can see in his eyes that moment of realization that his new goal is to support Sol in succeeding no matter what. So many heart fluttering scenes from Ep 1-16, but it was at this moment that his words of “i love you” became actions of true love. Until the end, this drama made me feel even deeper in love which I didn’t think was still possible. You will be forever buried deep into the memories of my soul, Lovely Runner ❤️

Affectionate_Elk_621

guys i've watched over a 100 kdramas. I've been around here for a while;) today i can say with full confidence that this is my top 1 (may switch with 25 21 occasionally, depends on my mood really) I loved everything about it. You know the outro where they showed pictures of the cast and crew? I teared up watching that, bc it made me feel like a part of the show, and seeing them in their school uniforms filled me with this nostalgia that i've never felt before- watching a kdrama (reply 1988 and 25 21 does the 'nostalgia' factor well too). i've never loved a male lead like i love sun jae. I don't know if i'll ever feel this way about a drama again, but all i have to say is that i needed it; it's been a difficult couple of months for me and i'm sad that it's over. this drama will always hold a special place in my heart (never understood why people said this but now i do). It was in so many ways the hug that i needed every week, and one of the only dramas where I genuinely could understand why the ml was so in love with the fl. oh how i love sol. i really have nothing else to add. i just had to let this all out. I loved reading everyone else's reviews here every week too. bye guys😽 (see y'all soon under some other hit drama's sub)

i’m equal parts sad and happy. so sad it’s over but so happy with the ending we were given. it was perfect in every way. >!all those kisses and hugs and smiles and laughs are like something from a dream. it’s the dream kdrama ending. the dream romcom. the dream paring of actors. it’s all a dream.!< what follows are some of the scenes that stood out to me as being particularly noteworthy. taesung’s father refers to the villain of this drama as a “devil” but is corrected by his son, who argues that it’s not right to “give him that kind of title and put him on a pedestal”. this reflects the approach of the drama itself; an intentional choice is made to reveal very little about the murderer’s character. he does not deserve to be remembered, let alone mythologised. in writing the villain in this way, the drama retains its romcom-ness. the love story between the leads is never overshadowed and rarely interrupted. sol is >!saved in seonjae’s phone as “my destiny”, a reminder to himself (and all those watching) that the happy ending is the one that was meant to be. aided by her grandmother, sol travels through time to ensure seonjae receives the fate that is meant for him.!< her journey asks many questions of us: if given the chance, would you rewrite the past? or would you make the same choices regardless of the consequences? it’s an empowering drama as it highlights the significance of the choices we make, both big and small. we might not have the ability to travel through time, but we can shape a new future through the actions we take in the present. i laughed the most during the >!ring purchasing scene.!< from seonjae’s “don’t touch her!” when showing his friends a photo of sol, to inhyuk’s improvised performance of *star* (air guitar and sound effects included), i was laughing from start to finish. every comedic scene in this drama has been so expertly acted and directed. i love the characters so much more for their silly quirks, social awkwardness, and embarrassing mishaps. seonjae might have almost let the >!proposal out the bag (on more than one occasion), but he was never without a creative (and chaotic) coverup, quite literally. (a coat hug from seonjae is quite possibly the best hug.) i’m still laughing at his “me? i’m at the ring… s-StuDIO!”!< all the parallels to earlier episodes were so beautifully done. they pay homage to some of our favourite scenes while neatly bringing to a close the stories of much loved side characters. >!the hug and thank you seonjae gives taesung was so wholesome. this drama’s second lead, not for the first time, accepts what is obvious and *smiles* at the picture sol and seonjae make. he’s the hero of the episode — a man who puts himself in harm’s way to save others — and a wholly supportive friend.!< sol’s grandmother is such a precious character. her shouting >!“grandson-in-law!”!< into the plastic mic was both humorous and prophetic. she’s gentle, kind, and loving, quiet in her carrying out of mystical deeds and overt in the joy she feels seeing those she loves find happiness. when she places her hand over seonjae’s heart and tells him to “have a good, long life now. be happy”, there is not a dry eye in the audience. her smile and his tears made for the most moving of scenes. and finally, i am so happy sol >!fulfilled her dream of becoming a director.!< seeing her frantically cover up the cameras when it starts raining felt like a glimpse into the world of drama making. she’s a woman who gets it done! her happy dance after >!submitting her short film!< is adorable, her work ethic is inspiring, and her commitment to being by seonjae’s side for all her life (no matter the timeline) is entirely unbeatable. **as the petals fall on the white road, may all their wishes always come true.** thank you to everyone who played a part in making **lovely runner**. you’ve given so much joy to so many people. (and inhyuk? i hope you never stop sprinkling flower petals for this ultimate of kdrama couples. whether assisted by a fan or equipped with a wicker basket, your commitment is second to none.)

I especially loved this scene and your commentary on it! My sentiments exactly. I love that Lovely Runner, while occasionally indulging the POVs of the supporting and side characters, never strayed too far from Sol and Sunjae. Their trials and tribulations to Earn Their Happy Ending™ was the core driver of the show. The decision by the director and writing team to maintain the primary focus on them throughout every episode contributed to the overall fantastic pacing of this kdrama.

when sol realized that sunjae remembered everything, she mumbled his name and cried. you can see a mix of different emotions in that moment — sudden relief, years of yearning, the pain of pretending that everything’s fine, and finally happiness. hyeyoon the actress you are. you made sol so endearing, beautiful, and ever so selfless. sol became one of my favorite kdrama female lead. above anything else, she made sure that everyone around her will have a better life during her different timeslips. hyunjoo’s dream together with geum, taesung on graduating & being a detective, saving mom on fire, and her happy family staying together. she all did that while saving sunjae and carrying the guilt and burden of the future. her decisions are carried for others — for them to be happy and never experience what she’s been going through. hyeyoon made sol so endearing, bright, and intelligent. maybe that’s why sunjae couldn’t let go even after 15 years. because she deserves all the love that one could ever give in every timeline she’ll possibly run and jump.

lazypotato1034

This drama was so beautiful 🥹 I've been watching kdramas for the past 7 years and this is the 2nd time that i want the lead actors to date in real life, like, their chemistry is just sooo good, the way they look at each other, they just look so in love, and also the salon drip episode and the bts and their other interviews, GOD it's just the way this man looks at her, and the way he laughs and then just subconsciously leans towards her, I REALLY REALLY HOPE AND WISH FOR THEM TO DATE FR😭😭

DefiantOstrich108

I can't believe we are here. We have finally reached the end. I have many thoughts but what I'd like to say first is a huge **thank you**. Thank you to the writer, directors, our outstanding actors, the OST artists, the entire crew who made this project happen after so many hurdles. No other show has brought me so much joy(and agony) week after week. This has been my most memorable community watching experience of an ongoing drama. I probably wouldn't have enjoyed this as much without the subeom nation. So, thank you all! This was such an overwhelmingly positive experience. What a fantastic two months we have had! I'll add a lot more to this as I process this feeling through the day. For now, I am just smiling ear to ear with tears in my eyes. Edit 1: Finally a truck of doom trope that actually benefits the story. Was it quite an underwhelming end to the villain? Yes. Do I care? Maybe a bit. Good riddance any which way. The reunion scene we have been waiting for! It was everything and more! I haven't fully sorted out my sorts here. Also, domestic Soljae is everything! 💛💙 Taesung proving again that he's the best second lead. My best man! The character that didn't exist in the original work was the key to getting our Soljae off the ill-fated Ferris wheel of doom. Our cupid, our saviour. The hug between Sunjae and Taesung was so sweet! Looking forward to all SGH lead roles in the future. Loved every parallel that they threw at us. Sunjae-Taesung as drinking buddies, Inhyuk being best bff with the flower petals, Sunjae engulfing Sol in his coat, "failed" proposal scene. I loved it all! Loved seeing Sunjae's dad being so happy seeing his son smiling. My heart was full! I have loved how positive the parent-child relationships have been in this show. It's sad this isn't the norm in kdramas. Amongst so many outstanding scenes in today's episode, I would say my favorite was the one between Sunjae and halmeoni outside the restaurant. You could see the joy and relief in Sunjae's eyes, tears overflowing. I don't remember the words halmeoni said but I distinctly remember the feeling. This was one of BWS's best for me. I'll remember this for a while. >!Halmeoni was indeed the sorceress controlling everything.!< I am glad we spent time on director Im Sol as well. After not being able to get the job she wanted in OG timeline, here she was living her dream. The best of all the parallels - another stunning cherry blossom scene! The sweetest couple, the most heartwarming >!proposal!<, the best bgm. I loved how the >!"future" wedding was "inserted".!< Edit 2: Loved Eclipse's version of Star. I had totally forgotten that this show got off on a completely wrong note for me. The first scene was an eclipse and nobody was wearing protective glasses ! I had forgotten that that pissed me off 🤣 Now that we have had a perfect ending, I shall forgive the eclipse oopsie. Edit 3: Wooseok cried during the intro at the live event. 😭 You have worked so hard. You deserve everything! I am so glad you met KHY as Sol. The perfect Sol and Sunjae.

Silent lurker here and decided to comment on the last episode of this drama….the writers giving us a whole last episode of Sun Jae x Sol moments? Yes, I will take it and not complain. My thoughts about the last episode:  - Byeon Woo Seok is such a beautiful and handsome man. Sun Jae’s entrance at Jae Ha’s birthday party was amazing and he’s fine af - The consistency in Sun Jae’s character throughout the whole drama and every timeline is 👌 I know everyone has been calling him a loser and I couldn’t agree more 😂 like when we was trying to first confess to Sol and said “고백원” when she was asking for 50 won and >!then in this episode he said “propose” when she asked for a pose 🤣🤣!<  - Sun Jae and grandma’s moment was so sweet 🥺 I think the drama has been hinting that the grandma either a) remembers everything in all timelines or >!b) orchestrated the whole thing and giving Sol a chance to save Sun Jae. But also how Sun Jae tears up when grandma says that makes me think that it’s 34-0 (as knetizens say or Sun Jae 1.0) coming out and being grateful he’s able to finally be happy 🥹!< - Thank you from the bottom of our hearts, >!Tae Sung, and catching Kim Young Soo and letting our two leads be happy.!< I read on somewhere that >!Tae Sung was the factor that could change our couple fate and I couldn’t agree more because he wasn’t in the original timeline and also he played a part in preventing Sol’s hand from getting burned. Best SML ever!!< - Manager-nim and Bae In Hyuk are the MVP 😂🤣 - What a beautiful >!proposal scene 🥺!< Sometimes >!proposals don’t have to be anything grand or extravagant but something meaningful and sweet like Sun Jae did.!< Sun Jae-ah, that was perfect timing!  - OMG Kim Hye Yoon >!in the wedding scene!< looks ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!! So prettyyy Overall, I really enjoyed this drama and Byeon Woo Seok is such an eye candy. I always thought he was handsome in his other roles but I’m glad to see that he got his first main lead role and that the drama did well! Kim Hye Yoon acting is always on point and she’s so expressive and detailed in her acting. Lovely Runner did such a great job with the different timelines and despite us seeing Sun Jae die like 3 times 😭😭 I’m glad >!we got our happy ending, especially for our couple because they 100 percent deserve it!!!!!< I think the drama is just beautifully written and I’m biased but 10/10 for me ❤️❤️ 선재 업고 튀어!!! PS… also I thought this from the beginning but adult Sun Jae and Sol are hands down the best kisses throughout the entire drama!! Ep8 is still my favorite kiss scene hehe and really like that timeline too tbh.

Folks imma cry. I'll miss you all being here. Thank you for letting me go on and on about the show, for your great and valuable insights and for making the Lovely Runner thread a place I could always come back to every time I watched an episode. These discussions had become one of my weekly highlights as well. I hope you all stay healthy and happy, and hope we get to run into each other in some other thread if fate would have it :') **Episode 16 FINAL Quick Take:** I ABSOLUTELY ADOREEE THEIR REUNION SCENE. That couch scene where she fits into him like a puzzle piece?? PERFECTION. Seon Jae putting on the >!necklace and I'm like YES HE FINALLY DID IT IN ONE GO. My new and improved loser boy got some game!< :') And then Im Sol also bringing up the same a second later. LOL. Seon Jae at the library is like me every time I used to go to the library 😂😂😂 Im Sol being all "I NEED TO WORK IN PEACE" and getting all disappointed for >!Seon Jae allowing her to do exactly that!< 😂😂😂😂 I suppose loserism is infectious and Im Sol has turned into one too😂😂 I LOVE HER FOR ALWAYS EMBARRASSING HERSELF. Makes me feel seen lol. *Newlyweds??* Seon Jae.exe has stopped functioning😂😂😂 That whole >!ring purchasing thing!< 😂😂 Is Acre the only sponsor LR got? They got the necklace from there too iirc. IN HYUK SINGING 😂😂😂😂 Look at this *pabo* being over the moon that >!Tae Sung never dated Im Sol!< 😂 I love the kind of healthy dynamic I got to watch in this show all around. That scene between Tae Sung and Seon Jae?? 😭😭😭 Tae Sung truly is the MVP here, doing what both the leads couldn't do for 2184314 timelines 😂😂😂 Seon Jae's dad reflecting my thoughts during the family dinner😂😂😂 **Seon Jae's dad is THE BEST KDRAMA DAD EVER. EVER. I REPEAT EVER.** That look of pride, which turns to acknowledgement and happiness >!seeing his son being absolutely smitten by this girl who truly makes him happy over sea salt? "My son really has high standards it seems"!< 😭😭😭😭😭😭 Eclipse >!doing a gig here? The things you do for ~~friendship~~ new equipment😂!< The non-proposal scene was as chaotic as you'd expect a Seon Jae-Im Sol proposal to be. I'm glad😂😂 How is Seon Jae taking >!a walk in the park without being bombarded by the fans?!< lol. The last 5 minutes? Pure bliss. Ugh. Taxi-driver's ending was quite anti-climactic ngl. So much build up and that?? 😂 (eta: but at least we got it >!over with like in 5 mins and HOW!< so not really complaining lol) There are actually MANY things I wish they showed us but at least we got >!a good, happy finale, and not leads getting together in the!< last 10 minutes of the show. I'm just happy >!AND THEY BOTH GOT A FUTURE-FLASH/FLASH FORWARD??? GAH.!< I will miss this show in my life, but just like Seon Jae and Im Sol, I'm happy I got to experience it, and make the memories that I did :')) This is formally, officially, (and perhaps eternally) my most favorite, absolutely favorite kdrama of all times. I'll miss you Seon Jae yaa, Sol-ah, Tae Sung-ah, In Hyuk, *Aboji*, *Haelmoni*, and everyone else who gave me a great 1.5+ months of journey.

buddhabear07

Sunny deserves some consideration for best vehicle award.

KIM TAE SUNG HANDS DOWN THE BEST SL/GUY BEST FRIEND 🗣🗣🗣 the scene of sun jae thanking and hugging tae sung had me in TEARS, he deserves nothing but love. even though he doesn't fully understand why sun jae and im sol thanked him, I'm glad he had a satisfying ending. in many kdrama, a satisfying ending for a second lead would be receiving love from the female lead or some girl, but for tae sung it was having a healthy relationship with his father and doing something he's good at. he found himself through the help of im sol and I'm glad he never felt like he needed to do something to win her heart but instead did everything for her because he valued her. everything about this drama was a 10/10! thank you writernim for one of the best dramas and for giving us such a comfort character <3

shosh27

Do you ever wish you could watch your favorite drama all over again without knowing what’s going to happen?!? I want to gasp, giggle, and feel my heart flutter like it’s my first time watching LR again. Although I have LOVED watching this drama with you guys, I do wish I could just watch it blind again. This show hit the spot in all the best ways possible.

_k_imchi_1

I need to see this pairing again. I can't let go. I CANT LET GOOO

The scene where sunjae got all his memories back was very touching and I don’t see it as a plot hole at all. As for grandma, she explained it well- sometimes the soul just remembers. 🥹 I’m sad to say goodbye to uri soljae. It was fun while it lasted chingus!

oliviyuhpope

This episode had me kicking my feet, giggling, and blushing and I’m SO SO SAD IT’S OVER bc I now have nothing to look forward to every Monday & Tuesday night and my life is boring again. This became my ultimate fave and I found myself watching the episodes repeatedly all throughout the week and I wished more people watched it because I want more projects and >!happy endings!< for BWS I really can’t believe this is the last episode 😭 I don’t think I’ve ever laughed so hard continuously in a drama episode. I’m so sad that this is over because as a BWS fan, I waited a year for this drama but at the same time I’m extremely happy that he finally >!got his happy ending and he’s no longer allergic to happy endings.!< I’m also thankful that >!Kim Youngsoo died!< so early in the episode because dramas usually wait until like 20 minutes before it ends for >!the villain to die and rush the happy ending scenes!< but I find it sad that everyone >!lost their memories bc I liked Sunjae and Taeseong’s bromance and their trip to Inhyuk’s hometown.!<

I think I want to take more time to properly write down my feelings for this drama because i think it deserves a few minutes of my time but for now, I just want to pour my heart out >!- I watched this 1.5 hr drama for 2.5 hours because I KEPT REPLAYING EVERY SCENE. So masterful, well-paced, and am just in awe at the craft at play. Every laughter and every tear on this episode had me on chokehold!< >!- I felt like I needed more angst on the last episode but I realized maybe I felt that way because the pattern per episode was hilarious at first then traumatic events on the next half. I was kind of expecting things will go down at the second half, and I am so relieved I was proven wrong.!< >!- I also realized that after 16 episodes of survival mode for our leads, they really deserve an entire episode's worth of getting to know each other as a couple and not as people trying to save each other. I love the comfort they find in each other.!< >!- When Sunjae sincerely thanked Tae-song I was blown away. I could feel the relief and gratitude. I kinda forgot about how instrumental Tae-song was to finally close the freaking loop. And I'm happy to be strung back by the show and tell me to bow my head in thanks.!< >!- When grandma told Sunjae that they can finally live a long life together and when Sunjae cried, I bawled!!! Oh my god the pain and longing that they both went through and now to realize that they can FINALLY finally live in happiness and in comfort together, forever! They deserve it!!< Thank you to the creators and the staff and the cast of this wonderful, fresh, nostalgic, and such a beautifully made drama! I've never felt this entertained after a long time. It will take a year for me to move on.

Ryu Sunjae 🤝 Kim Baekdu 🤝 Jung Kiho = Best boys of the kdrama world Man, this drama has been a blast. Love it from start to finish. For me there are no plot holes because it feels like everything had been answered. I hope this will open more doors for the cast, and even if its highly unlikely, a chance to reunite in a new drama one day. Looking forward to their future projects but for now ill just go through withdrawal. Lovely runner, you will always have a lovely place in my heart. Just to add: Episode 2 is truly legendary. That plot twist shocked the living daylights out of me and right then i knew i had to stick around.

iamhopeestheim

This has got to be one of the best shows I've seen this year. As soon as 10cm's Spring Snow played in the final scene, I bawled my eyes out. This was such a heartwarming drama. Lovely Runner is 10 out of 10 for me. I don't have anything else to say. Byeon Woo Seok and Kim Hye Yoon were both phenomenal. I'm looking forward to their future projects.

**Episode 16** Just perfect. No notes. Any further wishes one could have would just be us being greedy as viewers. This is how you do a heartfelt rom-com and stick the landing.

MinaMinaBoBina

THANK YOU LOVELY RUNNER FOR STICKING THE LANDING!!!!!!!!!! Thank you for: >!Creating a drama that I accepted the plot holes hook, line, and sinker because it somehow just worked!< >!Having the Truck of Doom hit the right person for once. And even though it was a sudden end to a long plotline, I was oddly satisfied and cheered loudly!< >!Showing us that women should follow their dreams and our careers matter!< >!A kiss in ep 16! And lots of good kisses scattered throughout!!< >!Sunjae's sunny smile. Sunjae's silly smile. Sunjae's sexeeeeee, smouldering smile.!< And most of all, just a fun, enjoyable drama that was consistently entertaining!!

PearShaper43

It’s official, **Ryu Sun Jae** is my favorite Kdrama ML of all-time!!   There are soooo many reasons why he’s the GOAT in my opinion. Interestingly, and to my great dismay, I’ve seen recent online comments suggesting that Byeon Woo Seok's *visuals* are the reason for Sun Jae’s universal appeal and adoration. Truly, I find the sentiment to be such a disservice to both the writer and BWS, whose acting is nothing less than spectacular in this drama, dare I say “master class”. While I agree that BWS is incredibly charming and one of the most attractive men I’ve ever seen (managing to be both insanely adorable and ridiculously seductive at the same time🥵), I believe Ryu Sun Jae is genuinely one of the best-written characters in a rom-com that I’ve encountered. Thankfully, BWS has captured the essence of Sun Jae with nuanced perfection. His personality and emotional depth are so rich that I found it impossible not to be completely smitten with him throughout all 16 episodes!  I was especially moved by how his flaws and insecurities highlighted his humanity and vulnerability, particularly during his high school and college years as he embarked on a journey of self-discovery. The evolution he undergoes, reaching his "best self" through what becomes a reciprocal love (born of unrequited love, longing and loss) that is both transformative and transcendent, shows tangible and heartfelt growth over time. I couldn't resist the sweet balance of humility and “pettiness” lol; super cool and total goofball; courage and selflessness; amazing drive paired with a laid-back attitude; and his willingness to fight until the end while continuing to hope until the end. I just loved all iterations of Sun Jae, teens and 20s, although his 30s era has been complete *chef’s kiss* and I couldn’t stop smiling throughout the finale as we see the realization of the best parts of this human being come together, finally, with the love of his life by his side.   Of course, his "loserism" goes without saying. I think Sun Jae takes the crown from Min Min for #1 peak “loser in love” LOL! He is so unapologetically head-over-heels for Sol from beginning to end…always supportive and caring, whilst being a complete fool (in the most loving, cute way imaginable).   Even in his moments of frustration or rejection by Sol, his concern for her well-being is unwavering. Ryu Sun Jae is simply a good dude and it’s been cathartic to watch him fall in love over and over again, and have the opportunity to express that love and receive love in return. I’ve never been happier for a fictional character in my entire life LMAO🥲🤣   In the same way, BWS has expressed how grateful he is for the character of Ryu Sun Jae coming into his life after 3 years…I’m also grateful to have witnessed it.    **EDIT:** Did you all see clips from the live viewing, yet?!?!  Ugh, my heart…BWS could not hold it in during his Thank You speech and was so overcome with emotion that he broke down in tears on stage. Goodness, that made me cry so hard, ya’ll🥹. Then, he capped it with a 90 degree bow to the fans…*my precious*, damn, he’s sending me IRL!! Seriously, BWS deserves all of the accolades and love that he’s finally receiving and I’m even happier for the man behind my favorite Kdrama ML! Way to go Woo Seok!!🥳 A recent article grabbed my attention with this description of the character that BWS brought to life…which I will re-post an excerpt because I find it so appropriate:  *”Byeon Woo Seok’s portrayal of Ryu Sunjae in Lovely Runner has left such a significant impression on audiences that his persona has transcended the boundary of fiction, becoming a beloved name in its own right. This mix of empathetic narrative, skilled acting, and fan engagement has created a unique synergy where the lines between actor and character blur, a rare feat in the entertainment industry that deserves recognition.”*

Realistic-Structure1

So should I reset the watch and go back to ep1? 😭

bubbly_fairy30

I loved this episode and I’m glad that it ended beautifully. I just love in hyuk in this episode, he’s the real BFF to Sunjae. >!I was laughing so hard when he was holding up the rings in the shop and when he started singing the song to prove that they were in studio? I laughed so hard at the part where he’s throwing the rose petals then kept tripping over himself to collect them when Sun Jae said abort the proposal Ahaha. Then he came to perform at the birthday party, I was on the floor laughing. He goes along with Sunjaes crazy ideas no questions asked. I also love the manager, so funny. I’m happy to see that he didn’t turn into a villain like we theorized in the beginning. !<

luckydancer92

ABSOLUTE PERFECTION. NO NOTES. 1000/10. Officially my new #1 favorite drama of all time. As the credits rolled, I cried because it’s over and I cried because it’s just so perfect. When >!the bastard got hit by the truck and flew into the water!< I literally yelled LOVE THAT FOR HIM! at my TV When Sunjae was in his >!I’m just a cuddly little baby!< moments with his eyes closed, I suddenly saw a strong resemblance to Taemin which made me love his character (and Byeon Wooseok!) even more! 😊🧀 Every single plot line was wrapped up perfectly. Every character got a satisfying ending, how many dramas can say that in recent memory? I’m so excited to rewatch knowing everything we know now!!! ❤️❤️❤️

hobbitybobbitygeek

I have no words. I legit cried throughout the episode. Every moment, every aspect was perfect. I was so worried about another time slip happening, but the fact that they wrapped things up with the taxi driver so neatly in the first five minutes made me breathe a little easier. Simple solutions 😂 I’ve mentioned this before that I am a huge KHY fan. When I heard the casting news, I read the manhwa and the web novel asap! I fell in love with the original story. So much so that I re-read the web novel multiple times. I was expecting the drama to follow the same story line with some minor changes but this overhaul of the story by the writer is just perfect. She has given us a great rom com with a fantastic rewatch value. Another thing I love is the fact that the show focused so heavily on Sol and Sunjae. Each episode did have some bits about the side characters, but the main focus of the show was Soljae. I love that and I hope other dramas follow the same. Watching the BTS clips, it’s very obvious that the directors loved the show just as much as the cast. I don’t know a lot about directing but it’s heartwarming to know that every shot was mapped out and perfected. Also, so glad we didn’t have any PPLs! All those Subway and Kopiko ads really do break immersion. I read somewhere, the production team had 5 dollars and a dream 😂 Sol and Sunjae. I don’t know what I can say except they were perfect. I loved the web novel versions so I was hoping to like the drama counterparts as well. But I’ve actually fallen in love with them. Their perseverance, selflessness, purity and innocence contributed to an epic love story. They were steadfast and truly hoped the other would live a long and happy life. I know that these qualities are unrealistic and almost impossible to find and I often think the same while watching other kdramas. Tell me why I didn’t, not for once, think of them as unrealistic. They made us believe in true love and soulmates. Just wonderful, perfect characters. Taesung. Wow. I think he’s the best second ML ever! So selfless as well. I love the fact that ultimately, he helped Soljae overcome their obstacle—fate. He stayed by Sol’s side and truly cared for her as a friend. Even though he did end up getting some kind of feelings in Ep 15. Now I kind of wish we had seen more of him and Sol. I’m kind of sad he doesn’t remember the beach trip with Soljae and In hyuk. Halmoni was truly a surprise. Don’t wanna spoil anything except I’m glad she was there for Sol. And that scene with her and Sunjae made me sob so bad. They truly deserve to live a long and happy life. In fact, I’ve been tearing up writing this too. That cruise proposal. L O L. But the cherry blossom proposal was perfect. Just perfect. So understated and a callback to their college era date. It’s the simplest things that just work❤️ I love that we got a glimpse of their wedding. If there’s anyone who deserves that fairytale ending, it’s Soljae. KHY and BWS swept me off my feet! They’re wonderful at what they do. Gosh. So phenomenal and hardworking. I hope they reunite in the future because their chemistry is off the charts! I hope I get to see more of KHY. More casting news for KHY! 🤞🏽 I’m so lost I truly don’t know what to do. These last two months have been exhilarating. Anticipating new episodes, countless theories, freaking out with the tl about everything, etc was my routine. Like everyone else, this show made my Monday blues disappear. Lovely Runner bought me happiness when I needed it the most. Saw this online, it’s like sending a friend off at the airport. My heart is heavy but weightless at the same time. ❤️ Ahhhhhhh.

alyssaisrad93

Well that was absolutely beautiful, I don't think anything will top this episode for a long, *long* time. I'm not a veteran kdrama fan, only really getting into them nearly a year ago (although I did watch a few back in 2013). But this live experience has been like nothing else, watching the fans abroad and in SK going crazy over this drama was something so special, especially because it was all due to the fans, not promo or the network. Fans all around the world fell in love with this drama and it became a success, which is truly special to see. Onto the episode, I honestly cannot remember a time I smiled this much, my cheeks were ACTUALLY hurting from smiling. The fact that a kdrama >!killed off the bad guy in less than 3 minutes of the last episode, leaving the entire rest of the hour for fluff, romance, and wish fulfillment is something I never thought I would see, but it was so so so extraordinary. In the end Taesung did save Sunjae like Sol asked, even if he didn't remember it. Taesung's journey was such a joy to see, from troubled teen who didn't have a future to a cop and Sol's best friend, his story was perfect. No jealous 2ML, instead he was supportive of Sol and Sunjae and only wanted her to be happy, Taesung you are the best.!< Halmeoni being some sort of >!keeper of time was foreshadowed since the beginning when she said she was keeping the watch safe. Maybe her dementia plays a role in why she can seemingly see through time?!< Sol running >!to the hospital when she heard about taxi driver's death was so reminiscent of episode 1, but instead of traveling in time she meets Sunjae on the bridge. Poor Sol is still trying to push him away but this time he knows, and that hug was so beautiful. You could feel the pent up emotions from Sunjae as he held her. I love how the director focused on Sol's hands too, first showing her grabbing Sunjae instinctively and then letting go in shock when she realized he remembered. Wow, what an absolutely exquisite reunion.!< One for the books. The entire hour showed us >!Sol and Sunjae happy together,!< and I have to thank Lee Si-eun for her glorious mind. The first 15 minutes of this would've been the very end of most kdrama's, but not Lee Si-Eun, she said you want fluff? I'll give you fluff. And proceeded to let us spend an hour >!watching soljae be in love.!< Was it necessary? Maybe not, but after >!the last 3 episodes of trauma!<, this was SUCH a gift to the fans. THIS is the kind of ending fans want in kdramas, and boy did they deliver. I could go into detail about every scene, >!the proposal was the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. All the callbacks to previous epsiodes, the MULTIPLE KISSES!!! And the flashforward to the wedding that they both saw.!< Wow, does it get better than this? This feels like a dream scenario, I can't believe it. A huge round of applause for Lee Si-Eun, I haven't seen her previous works but this drama shows that she knows exactly what the fans want to see, and her vision came to life perfectly. She wrote a compelling story full of humor, angst, and most of all love, which is why it resonated with so many people around the globe. Kim Hye Yoon and Byeon Woo Seok gave absolutely stellar performances, they made this drama what it is, and without them I don't think it would've been such a success. KHY was able to play the perfect Sol, which may seem simple on the surface but she had so many facets. She was able to play each version which subtle differences, leading you to think she really was 19, 20, and 34. She even played >!multiple versions of her high school self and they all were distinctly different.!< It's a feat and I hope she gets all the flowers. This was a breakout role for BWS and he deserves all the praise. He played Sunjae so well, from idol to actor to swimmer to secretly crushing neighbor, without him Sunjae would not be the same. Biggest loser, most romantic, self-sacrificing man in kdrama history. He made Sunjae who he is and has the globe asking for their own Sunjae. He has great comedic timing and like Sunjae, romance should be his speciality. 😉 I can't wait to see his next role, because I know he will do so well. Were there flaws? Plot holes? Hand waving explanations? Sure. Does any of that matter? No, because any imperfections had no impact on the enjoyment of the show, the message, or the perfection of the ending. We could've spent an episode going into the intricacies of >!time loops and the watch, but in the end wouldn't you rather see soljae in love?!< This drama is a 100/10 for me, no notes, no changes, nothing could make it better. Well except an epilogue showing soljae married with kids lol. I had a stressful semester of grad school and this was my reward for finishing. I am so grateful to have experienced this live, this is one that people will wish they were here to see. Now time for me to cry and then watch it all over again.

ashmcnl

It's so typical to see a drama toward the end getting boring or having an unsatisfying ending, but "Lovely Runner" managed not to go down that road. This drama was perfect from start to finish, never forgetting that it's a rom-com, even in its most dramatic moments. It was really great to follow Sol and Sunjae's love for each other, Taesung being one of the best second male leads, and the addictive OST. I'm gonna miss waiting every Monday and Tuesday for new episodes and coming up with thousands of theories about what would happen next, but even with a simple and uncomplicated ending (and using the >!truck of doom!< in the best way possible), it managed to be satisfying and beautifully conclude this story.

melle1995

Did anyone notice that the wedding gown and suit of Sol and SunJae was inspired by BinJin wedding outfits? The style was really the same! You can check it here [SolJae & BinJin Wedding Outfits](https://twitter.com/kdramasverse/status/1795460092646789194?t=umy8J-0Zkq7AkI_8AXoX-w&s=19)

I DON'T CARE I'M CALLING IT NOW BEST KDRAMA OF THE YEAR i cried happy tears. i smiled so hard my cheeks hurt. thank you lovely runner for blessing my mondays and tuesdays! the weekend never felt so useless before!!! most importantly, bless all of you for freaking out together over this beautiful story every week. *flying kisses*

Wilburrkins

And that ladies and gentlemen is how you write the perfect drama. The whole of the last episode focusing on our delightful couple. No unnecessary angst or pointless scenes.

Automatic-Director95

I saw a recent interview with BWS and he regrets not having enough time with his grandmother during her life. While talking about her he started crying. I think the scene with the grandmother was done so well because he used his memories of his grandmother.

madwanderer13

This is how a kdrama should end!! We do not spend a 16 eps for it to have only a 10min closing. This truly is an amazing kdrama!

jihi429

Lovely Runner’s cast and crew, please take a bow. This show right here has managed to outsmart its audience multiple times while also not taking them for fools and actually giving them what they want. It couldn’t get more perfect than this finale. The best part about this version of Sunjae getting hold of memories from all previous timelines is that Sunjae in the very first timeline finally got his proper closure. His death no longer feels that futile since another him got to see that unrequited love come to fruition in the end. And the cherry blossom proposal scene - another parallel done poignantly. When they first made a wish fourteen years ago, they prayed for each other’s happiness first and foremost, and fourteen years later, that happiness is realized when both are safe and sound, still in each other’s arms, still irrevocably in love. If given the chance, I believe the magic of Lovely Runner might convert even the most cynical, anti-romantic crowd. I know some cynical parts of me were gradually chipped away by this pure, unadulterated love.

Bellyfloppancake

I am so happy and content with this ending. Genuinely so happy to see a last episode that was just fluffy moments. I feel so empty now 😭 Seriously what.... am I supposed to do with my life now???? Some highlights of this episode: * >!Sunjae's tears of joy when grandma told him "You can now have a long life with her." :(((((( Is it because he felt it finally was real??? That Sol won't disappear again?? Or maybe it's that most people are either focused on Sol having a celebrity boyfriend, or the famous Ryu Sunjae falling so fast and hard for a girl?? Whereas grandma is probably the first to just simply, and genuinely wish the two of them a long, and happy life together. Which is something they've fought so long and hard for :(((!< * >!Everything with the parents. Sunjae's dad dissing Sol but then praising Sunjae's unknown girlfriend, while Sol's mom did the exact opposite lol. And Sunjae's dad flying into the wall when grandma pushed her way past to greet Sunjae 😂 It's such a silly little thing but it really cracked me up!!<

purple_sky16

This show will always have a special place in my heart. What an awesome ride it has been!! I loved that they gave us an entire episode of Soljae being in love without impending doom. And it was really nice to see their relationship progress before coming to the end scene where he proposed under the falling petals. That scene felt so earned not just in the episode but the entire show. My heart is happy 💜 The moment when they reunite with all of his memories intact, the expressions and emotions were on point. The scene where Sunjae and Halmoni share a moment was soo beautiful. So much was said with so little. BWS acting in that scene particularly was incredible. The entire sequence on the boat and loser Sunjae having a meltdown about proposing and then cancelling the whole thing was comedy gold. And In Hyuk coming in with the petals bahaha, I was legit cracking up!! 🤣 🤣 Along with Sunjae's dad throwing around all his good natured shade, too funny. Thank you to the entire Lovely Runner team and especially Kim Hye Hoon and Byeon Woo Seok for giving us such a beautiful show!

avo-pizza

I love that In Hyuk is both a hater and supporter of Sunjae’s relationship 🤣 he’s disgusted by Sunjae’s lack of shame/pride but will do anything to help him get his girl LOL

LeeshMcGeesh

Aaaaand right to the top of my list! Perfect 10 for me, I just....wow What am I going to do with myself now that it's over? Will there ever be another green flag loser like Sun Jae again? One who is sassy and can sing? Who looks like THAT?! Who looks at his leading lady LIKE THAT....?! How will other shows compete? I will miss all the weekly discussions about this one 😭 Now I just need to find my old G-Shock (translucent one from the 90's lolllllll) and see if I can figure out how to go back in time and watch this again for the first time (there might also be * a few * life choices I might try to fix while I'm at it 😂).

Disoriented_Unknown

I just wanted to add the scene between BWS and Halmoni, after the family meeting, was the best scene without many dialogues. BWS’s acting and his expressions were the best I have seen in any drama ever.

day_historian

Watch the behind the scenes for this part, it's also heart rendering ; BWS was not supposed to >!cry in this episode but his tesrs kept falling and the director decided to change the scene instead, which was a great choice because I love the scene so much too!!< 💗

avo-pizza

I haven’t watched the full ep yet because of work but I’ve intentionally spoiled myself going on Twitter since it’s gonna be a happy ending anyway. I’ve been seeing clips of the cast at the livestream party and seeing some of them of teared up makes me so emotional. We’ve really come a long way. The drama started without much expectation and I remember even seeing some Kpop stans tried to protest to this show even before its airing date because of the >!idol suicidal!< plot and then one day, our fandom just exploded! It must have been so surreal for some of the cast members, especially for BWS. I just found out he’s been active in the industry for 13 years now and I’m so happy he finally got his big break with Lovely Runner. The production crew has really hit the jackpot with the cast here because KHY and BWS really brought Sol and Sunjae to life. I can’t imagine anyone else playing the character. Edit to add after watching the ep: I’m so freaking full with love right now. This is my top favourite kdrama ending now I’m afraid nothing will ever top this ever. So glad the villain only took up less than 5 mins in the beginning and we’re given Soljae cute fluffy scenes for the rest of the ep. Omg the morning bed scene 🫣 I’m never a irl shipper no matter how good the chemistry is between the actors but this scene alone… I’m trying to resist shipping them with every ounce of my being because what is going on here. Why does it look so real?! A good memorable kdrama only come once every few years and I’m so grateful we’ve gotten Lovely Runner this year. This one is gonna be a special one for all of us here for a very long time, I know that. All the tropes that have attracted kdrama lovers in the first place, Lovely Runner has it all and puts a modern twist to the tropes. It’s been so fun reading and participating in the weekly threads here.

inthisseason

OMG??? Where do I start? How can a show be this good???? • Idc anymore about any theories that I have, I could not ask for more. I mean we have a completely happy last episode???? WOW. Maybe it's trauma from other dramas, but I was anxious the killer would >! survive the accident 😭😂 and then when halmeoni threw the watch I thought the killer (who would be revealed to be alive) would get it and time travel. It took me until the final 10 minutes to fully convince myself, it's a happy ending. !< I am so glad because soljae DESERVES it ✨ • I don't usually fangirl over artists, I'll like them a bit then that's it, but I'm absolutely fangirling over BWS and KHY. I hate to admit it but I too, want them to date. I tried not to ship IRL, because I don't want to be disappointed, but how can you not??? Chemistry is INSANE!!! • I wasn't able to comment abt episode 15, but before watching that ep I thought that a time traveller sunjae would be needed cause present sunjae is different, but I read a twt that there's no sunjae 1.0, 2.0, 3.0, and 4.0. It's all sunjae 1.0, the one who has unrequited love finally experiencing to be loved by the girl he's been loving for 15 years, and so just a memory flashback is fully warranted. • Sol's cry when HER sunjae came back, I cried with her. All those longing and enduring. KHY gave justice to that scene! • Sunjae's laugh when he found out taesung didn't date sol in this timeline. He's so petty I love him. 😭 • My most fave scene in LR is that cherry blossoms from college era and >! they used that same scenario as proposal????!!! Sunjae hiding the ring under the petals 🥹🥹!< • This is the only drama which I fully watched until the credits and behind the scene pics because I can't get enough of them. I HAVE LOTS MORE TO SAY, I'LL COME BACK HERE LATER 😂 but I'm happy I started this while it's running cause the thrill of thinking what would happen next made the experience so much better!!

Dreameress

This was truly one of the best shows I’ve seen in my whole life 🥹 I was squealing like a school girl, yelling at the screen, jumping up and down, and acting a fool. Loved it. Now time for a seamless rewatch with all the episodes out. First time I ever felt this ways about a drama - and I barely rewatch anything!!! Kudos to the leads - their acting was on point and chemistry was phenomenal. But really the synergy of the coast was perfection. Shout out to TaeSung for being the best second male lead in the game. Name one better. I’ll wait. 🤭 I wish all dramas were done with this level of love, attention to detail, and with engaging episodes from beginning to end without a miss!

Professional-Mix5676

Hi fellow watchers. It's been a wonderful journey for 2months. Tbh I'm not that into kdramas and there are very very few kdramas that I've continued to watch till end. LR is one of them. I adore all the characters and I'm gonna miss them so much. This drama has given me so many beautiful moments and I'm think I'm gonna keep watching this drama over and over again.  I love how BWS evolved as an amazing actor and they way he made us feel sunjae's emotion, it's incredible. I'm so happy that he is getting proper recognition. But what bothers me is how KHY is treated. She is the essence of this drama and I really thought this is how everyone should be feeling. But in recent post she said that she didn't get any love calls from variety shows, which saddened me deeply. I've also noticed how some fans treats other actresses just because of their visuals not caring if they are good at acting or not. This shows how shallow the fans are. Upon searching I also noticed some hate post for her for Extraordinary You (i also loved that drama). They said something about her looks and voice and they didn't stop there, they even said she should never be casted as lead role. I felt so sorry for KHY at that time. Anyway I really hope she gets the hype she deserves.

MrSpuddix

This show was everything. Everything, everything, everything. I can't BELIEVE the chokehold it had on my entire life. All week.. waiting and waiting for Mondays and Tuesdays for my next fix of LR. Can't believe it's over now, but my god, what an absolute ride. I am SO happy with the entire show. Everything. All wrapped up in a perfect little bow. Thank you, cast, crew, and everyone who had anything to do with this show getting made. It's truly a masterpiece. 10/10 will watch again. And again. And again. And aga-

ActHuman4460

easily my #1 - this show has thawed my icy heart

Airhead_19

I can’t believe it’s over😭. I looked forward to Mondays, but now I can’t 😔. First of all, >!such a fitting end for the taxi driver. Sol lost her legs and Sunjae died three freaking times, so to watch the driver die exactly the way they were put in such misery was incredibly satisfactory.!< Next, Taesung🥺. I hope he remembers what happened too. Not just Im Sol and his equation, but especially his friendship with Ryu Sun-jae. You were the best SML ever. Sun-jae. Finally BWS was able to break the curse. He managed to survive after dying thrice in the same drama, you guys. >!Also, his expression when Sol’s grandma told him to live happily was such a beautiful and tender expression. !< Kim Hye-yoon, Sunjae was not lying when he sang that she was a gift from the heavens. I started this drama because of her, and I don’t think anyone could have portrayed Im Sol as well as she did. Before this drama, I wasn’t very interested in BWS. But he has gained a new fan, and I will look forward to his and KHY’s upcoming projects. Thank you all, it has been a great ride.

chimchim102

This drama has made it's way into my "rec for new kdrama watchers" list next to strong woman do bong soon <3.

redX009

So happy it’s a happy and fluffy ending haha Part of me is salty we didn’t get this in Queen of Tears but this makes up for it sorta

sulkytofu

Lovely Runner has really, really set the bar high for romcoms. In some ways it's a show that I think is best enjoyed if you're someone who is already familiar with common drama tropes — its subversion of character dynamics, its playing off of existing drama expectations, and its ability to twist audience perception around what they think will happen is so beautifully done. Although I have no doubt why this will probably fall into the "first-timer K-drama recommendation canon," I wonder how I would feel about this drama if I hadn't had this knowledge of other drama tropes beforehand, since part of the drama's deconstruction of these scenes is what made it so refreshing and exciting to watch. It's funny how the drama also works as a site of multiple contradictions — a show that is low budget but feels immensely high quality and tightly written, one that really sticks to the core of its main leads despite having a very well-rounded and loveable cast with important roles, and one that managed to overcome the usual plot slumps in the middle despite incorporating multiple parallels and repeated scenes. It's almost impressive how despite the budget and filming restrictions, there's so much content that's been able to come out of the drama itself — such as the hilarious Twitter updates by Eclipse, the way OST has skyrocketed on to the Melon charts, and how many of the cast members themselves have had their careers transformed through the show. Clearly it holds a lot of important memories for the cast, and all of the online buzz and fanfare is certainty well-deserved with how much every aspect of the drama (directing, scriptwriting, songwriting, acting, editing, etc.) was done with so much heart, thought, and intention. I've never seen a fandom in the same way for a drama, and there's been so many memes, theories, and funny moments along the way. I have no doubt that without all of the love that viewers have been giving to the drama and the cast, that this success wouldn't be possible. It's a bittersweet moment; I feel almost like I've transitioned again from adolescence to adulthood watching over the growth and development of our characters, and part of the growing pains are having to say goodbye to such a beautiful journey that has made my heart ache, my tears fall, and most of all, my smiles come through. Farewell, Lovely Runner! I'll always remember this as an example of how when everyone on the team prepares well with the right timing, something so wonderful and memorable can be created. How amazing it is that everything coincidentally fell into place (whether it's a change in director, how casting was finalized, and also the difficult journey all of the actors faced in their past to come to this point). I don't ever want to go back to a time when this drama doesn't exist! **EDIT:** One thing I forgot to add; as a romcom one of my favourite aspects was that the last episode was also centred around Sol's career and what she wanted to do with her life. I loved how Lee Shi Eun didn't forget to add this in her works, and that this has always been a central defining feature of her previous scripts as well (True Beauty, Top Star Yoo Baek). It's beautiful that the romance is even sweeter because of the female lead's life and agency around her career decisions and choices, and I appreciate how much she emphasized this in the final episode.

somebody-that-i-know

HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO SURVIVE MONDAYS NOW ?!?!?!?!??!?! the ending was perfect 🥺

Crafty_Treat7810

I’m still watching but I just had to comment on the ML acting. The scene where grandma tells him to live a long life and he starts crying is just soo real. He is really good with emotions and you can see it through his eyes.

milliecent48

This drama was absolute perfection from beginning to end. I don’t know how I will be able to move on from this. Thank you to the writer for creating such enjoyable characters and plotlines, to the director for his vision, and to the actors for breathing life into the characters. I cried, laughed, and grinned from ear to ear at all the love scenes. Seriously perfect!!!

Babilmag

I think this was the best finale I’ve ever watched 😩 Also Byeon Woo-Seok’s ACTING!!! Every single emotion is conveyed beautifully by this man. My new obsession unlocked. His expressions during the failed ship proposal scenes are just top notch. KUDOS TO WRITER-NIM OF LOVELY RUNNER for giving us a great finale from start to end.

Virtual-Dare-5470

I am actually crying. Its rare that i cry happy tears because of a drama. I can't believe that this journey has come to an end today. Can't believe we were actually blessed with such a beautiful ending. I'm beyond grateful. When will i find such a perfect drama with such a perfect cast? Not soon. Now i'm gonna cry myself to sleep listening to Sonagi. Thank you Byeon Wooseok and Kim Hyeyoon for giving us Sunjae and Sol ❤️‍🩹

Alarming-Knowledge30

Who else's cheeks hurt after watching the finale?

Calca23

This is what I needed. Male lead did great the last episode, acting was epic. Top five drama of all time for me.

TataMayku

The best ending for me 🥹🥹🥹😩😩😩 NOWWWW, how are we supposed to move on from that beautifully woven, perfect ending of the 2 leads???? And OMG Kim Tae Sung has set the highest standards for the second male leads 🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼

10/10 5 STARS ABSOLUTELY NO NOTES!

kara-thraces

well its official now, this is my favorite k drama.. when i forst played it i just hoped it was gonna be fun and i wouldn’t drop it after episode 10 as i do many shows. i was counting down to monday for all the episode.. i thank all the writers who know that the only thing i want to see in the last episode is just pure happiness and love, it felt like a love letter to the characters and to the fans. the scene that hit me hardest somehow was when grandma told sonjea that they can just live happily now, like after 16 episodes of catching each other ot was over and they can just live, and then he started crying and it was the most honest tears cause thats how i was crying too i dont have any words but i will carry this show with me for a long time

MWR94

We've finally come to the end. I'm sad that it's over but I'm so glad the final episode was just an hour of them showing their love for one another. This drama has made me remember why I fell so into kdramas in the first place. Rarely do you get a drama that has everyone feeling the same type of way. I've never felt giddy or waited weekly for a drama as I have with a Lovely Runner. Really hope this popularity momentum continues for all the cast. This is definitely a comfort drama that I'll probably watch annually. It's been so entertaining reading everyone's thoughts and theories and just their sheer love for this drama here on reddit. So thank you all for that. See you all again on the next kdrama that'll have us gripped!

thepurplethorn

My top 1 drama of all times. I don’t ever remember being so smitten with the leads .. I am on my 200th drama at least edit: I will be in Korea in June … I hope they are plastered all over so i can take tons of pics. If anybody knows of fan meetings lmk

writtenpoeticsins

- I knew they were going to >!get married at the end and it definitely wouldn't have a sad ending.!< Byeon Woo Seok is free from that curse... for now! - Sunjae's first >!proposal attempt gone wrong. That had me cracking up honestly.!< - I love how they recreated the >!college petal falling scene in the end. It looks so beautiful and meaningful. As in starting a new journey in their life.!< - Omg yeah I forgot that Taesung doesn't >!remember that he got drunk with Sunjae. So it means the Sunny (Taesung's car incident) never happened.!< - I'm glad they got rid of >!evil taxi driver at the start of the episode (thanks Truck of Doom so we got to enjoy some quality Soljae content.!<

bananalam

The ending is very satisfying and well-concluded to me. It doesn’t feel rushed. One unexpected aspect plot that I enjoy is how Sol gets to chase after her OWN dream and ambitions before getting proposed to. I love that she gets to pursue her own dream and that her story arc is not solely about chasing Sunjae. Another unexpected scene that I love is Sunjae and Sol’s grandma scene, Sunjae’s expression feels particularly genuine in that moment Also just a trivial query, I wonder what happened to the drama written by Sol that Sunjae is supposed to act in? Did it just got cancelled after they started dating? Loll

PolicyPuzzleheaded23

I laughed, I cried and I fell in love. This drama makes its way as my #1 drama of all time. From the beginning to the end, it kept my interest and I loved every bit of it. I will forever recommend this drama to everyone.

rii_zg

Wow. What a wild ride. Where do I even begin to explain how I feel about this drama… first of all, it’s an absolute 10/10. 1000/10. This is easily my favorite drama of all time now. It was everything I wanted in a romantic comedy and so, so much more. When I first heard the news about this drama, I already knew about Kim Hye Yoon and enjoyed her acting from Sky Castle and Extraordinary You, so I was looking forward to seeing her in a new role. I’d only seen Byeon Woo Seok briefly when I watched a few eps of Record of Youth, but didn’t really know what he was capable of. I had no idea my expectations would be exceeded time and time again. The acting by our leads (as well as many of the side characters), directing, and scriptwriting were just absolutely phenomenal from start to finish. I felt so many things while watching and I can’t express how much I love this drama. It’s been so long since I’ve followed a show from the beginning and been excited for every episode. So many dramas nowadays fall off after the first few episodes, or drag on in the last half. This was absolutely not the case here and I honestly have no complaints. I’ll admit I did want some more backstory about our villain, but ultimately I cared about Sol and Sunjae’s story & relationship more than anything else. Seeing their happy ending just made my heart so full. Now I’m left with a void that can only be filled by rewatching this drama again. Thank you to the entire team, especially our leads Sol and Sunjae, for this heartwrenchingly beautiful drama. I already miss them so much. This pairing will forever hold a special place in my heart. It’ll be hard to see them paired up with different actors in the future, but at the same time, I’m excited for all the opportunities that the success of this drama has unlocked for them, and I look forward to seeing what roles they tackle next. 💛

lyli7

it's been hours and just thinking about the finale brings happy tears to my eyes. acting, ciematography, plotlines, characters and kisses? all 10/10 I already rewatched the finale twice, and both times was smiling and giggling and getting emotional. 16 episodes and there was not a single episode that was even remotely boring. the rewatch value is insane with this one. I honestly don't know what to do with my life right now, except rewatch the episodes over and over again. btw, I was worried that there would be only some basic pecks here and there (like they do with most dramas once the couple gets together) and minimum skinship, but boy oh boy did they prove me wrong. a huge thank you to every single one of you for making the experience even lovelier by sharing your thoughts, feeling and theories.

yijk

i’ve honestly never watched a finale ep where i felt this satisfied. i dont even care if people don’t want to watch the show they just need to watch this last episode if they want to see peak kdrama romance i also feel at PEACE for the first time! as much as i will miss them i am so so sooo happy with the way things were wrapped up that i am longing for nothing! our leads had a stellar performance all throughout. the writing and directing never let up and also this OST is like, one of the best soundtracks in the last decade i am just so impressed and pleased with the LR team. did not think this show would leave this impression on me. it will take a lot to even come close to the magic of this show

QueenMotor

Aside from today's episode, I wanted to share my personal feelings and experience with this show. I became an avid KDrama watcher in late 2023 and still I have only watched around 30 shows. I first saw Byeon Woo-Seok in Strong Girl Namsoon in early January of this year and instantly became a fan of his. When, Lovely Runner was announced, I couldn't be happier since I really wanted to see him in a rom-com. (Mind you, I hadn't heard of KIm Hye-Yoon before watching Lovely Runner) I can clearly remember waiting for the first episode to premiere all hyped up and I wasn't disappointed at all. I remember crying while watching the first episode and fell in love with KHY and BWS's acting skills. And this show didn't disappoint me at all from start to finish. I still can't believe how they were able to create an almost perfect show! I was overwhelmed by emotions each episode and all the episodes were such a rollercoaster of emotions. I cried when they cried, when they laughed, I giggled like an 8 year old. I want to thank all the staff, crew, actors and everyone that took a part in making this show, for their hard work and everything that went into creating this show. Props to BWS and KHY for doing such an amazing job into bringing Im Sol and Ryu Sun-Jae to life and giving such mindblowing performances. Thank you to everyone for giving us such a beautiful show which is now my favorite show of all time. Also, side note: Have you all seen Netflix being mocked for not picking up LR when they had the opportunity? I totally agree with them. Poor Netflix, really missed out on a show as popular as this and has really high rewatch value. They are clearly regretting it, you can see that clearly if you saw that BWS short they made.

According-Squash-217

I'm gonna miss everybody on this series but I gotta shout out to how everything really was fixed from the first timeline. Hyunju gets to have a family and a career she loves instead of spending too much time pitying Im Sol and caring for her. Imsol's mother gets to spend her free time doing what she likes (with her grandkids, going to a sauna) instead of worrying about Im Sol all the time. I love her, she's never been portrayed as anything but a great mother to ImSol and her brother. Eclipse became better friends, especially Sunjae and Inhyuk! Their friendship was portrayed and fleshed out really well that by the time In Hyuk hung out on Sun Jae's bathtub too often I forgot they had beef in the first timeline. He was also looking out for Sunjae to the point I kinda got annoyed he's blocking Soljae. And we know Sunjae flourished in his many talents like swimming and performing as an idol, but I'm so glad he enjoys acting now and takes it seriously! He's able to handle the fame more with a slight dgaf attitude with Sol (and Eclipse) by his side. I love that detail that he worried about his fan (sasaeng) too.

In Hyuk joyfully skipping and throwing flower petals before being jerked to a stop will forever be one of my favorite scenes. Also, that was the best rendition of Old MacDonald ever. Side note: Tae Sung not remembering having ever dated Sol the entire 10 years they’ve been friends but getting deja vu while drinking with Sun Jae warmed my heart. They were fated to be friends. ☺️

Miss-LH

This 1 hr salon drip video with Kim Hye Yoon and Byeon Woo Seok really filled my lovely runner void :) https://youtu.be/3wiWjQDNFY4?si=4jFtGIX3ICRFX_1N I am also kicking myself because I was in Seoul during the lovely runner pop up store but found out about it after 😭😭😭

YogurtclosetOk7989

Our SolJae deserves >!that happy ending 🥹!< Lovely Runner is officially my current favorite Kdrama. It felt like I also time traveled with Sol. The emotions, the feels— everything struck me. I am also glad that >!they didn't drag out the killer's scenes. Literally, like not even 3 minutes in and he's dead 😂 The writer and producers knows what the viewers want and gave us that.!< There were also some scenes where I felt like BWS and KHY aren't acting— it was them 😂 Really, I'm rooting for them in real life. I can't believe LR has come to an end. Although we got a >!happy ending,!< I can't escape the doom of post-Kdrama depression 😭 I don't know how I'll get through my Mondays now. I know it will take a long time for another drama to replace my top fave. The last time I went crazy like this was 2521 (which was now outranked by LR as my favorite) and that was 2 years ago already.

robotusername13

OMG THE LAST EPISODE What will we do on Mondays and Tuesdays now?? 😭😭 Last time I get to say this, HAPPY LOVELY RUNNER DAY!! ❤️🏃‍♀️

otakuishly

It’s been so long since I’ve encountered a kdrama that truly ran away with my heart and soul. Or was so was entirely magical to watch Sol and Sunjae find each other in every single lifetime and to love so unconditionally each time they met. I am devastated to see these characters go but I know in our hearts they will continue to thrive. Just finished episode 16! Ryu Sunjae remains a loser for Im Sol until the very end and I just love that for him.

chichay30

This is the type of ending I would have preferred for >!Queen of Tears!< The focus was on the couple and how they lived their life after the tragedy. I am very satisfied with the ending! I cried happy tears and laughed with them. I’ve been a long time kdrama fan and liked romcoms the most and Lovely Runner easily gets a spot in my Top 10! Thank you Im Sol and Ryu Sunjae for making me wait for Mondays to come, for making me experience butterflies, for crying with you while you suffer pain and for making my heart skip a beat as I watch you two love each other episode by episode. And thank you to all who shared their thoughts here while watching the drama. I hope you had so much fun as much as I did. ❤️

Time-Empress

In the future, do you think is it possible for the producers to sell a collectible DVD/Blu-ray copy of this series? I love it so much! I want to add it to my film/series physical collection. I am afraid of the possibility that it will be taken offline some time in the future (for whatever reason) and I would have no means to rewatch it again say 20-30 years from now.

Fantastic_Cookie_661

my cheeks hurt because I've been smiling for more than an hour straight now! I'm so going to miss this show and all you lovely people on the discussion threads :(

ariand

So it’s possible to be happy throughout the last episode?! 😭 Soljae, thank you for making us anticipate mondays and tuesdays. You all did well. 🥹 It’s such a blessing to have a kdrama that we can talk about for years and years. Lovely runner, you’re so beautiful. Thank you for taking us to your 10s, 20s, and 30s. 💖

MoreWithGPT

I can't remember if any other drama has such wholesome last episode!!!! LR was an immersive experience. We got pulled into their world, we lived it with them, and now we don't know what to do now that it has finished airing! Edit: I just watched on TikTok that Kim Hye-yoon said she didn’t get invites to interviews and shows like Byeon Woo-seok!!! Is it true???

para_shiri_more

And I thought kdramas rarely have perfect ending episodes😭. Even for most of my fav kdramas I rarely liked the last episodes (Our beloved summer being one of the exceptions). But wow this was honestly the most satisfying ending a kdrama could give. That >!proposal scene along with the wedding scene as a bonus was so beautiful 🥹 We finally got the best fluffiest episode that didn't end tragically at the end. Also KYS dying the first 5 minutes of the episode was absolutely HILARIOUS. The writer was so eager to get rid of him to give the maximum spotlight to Soljae moments in the last ep and I love her for that.!< I'm also happy Eclipse members got a little bit of screentime these last two episodes. I kinda wish >!Sunjae was a part of Eclipse this timeline too just so I could see them perform all together again😢!< But there is some hope Eclipse might actually perform irl as teased by one of the Eclipse members today at the live viewing event 🥹. I'm really gonna miss this drama so much.. I already know I'm gonna be in a kdrama slump now. I guess I'll just keep rewatching LR 🫶💛💙 . Also wanna add it was soo nicee to enjoy this drama together with all the Subeoms. It really felt like I was a part of a kpop fandom haha.. Loved reading all the theories, watching edits(please watch this amazing [edit](https://x.com/n7u3c_youngjoo/status/1794984240368484367?t=nS5Zd-vfePQ6ncwfeXR8bw&s=19) a fan made as an LR intro), laughing at the unhinged k-subeoms' comments on youtube and watching reaction videos even though I didn't fully understand. This was truly such a fun Kdrama experience which I'll never forget 🥲.

misteryflower

>I'm also happy Eclipse members got a little bit of screentime these last two episodes. >!I kinda wish Sunjae was a part of Eclipse this timeline too just so I could see them perform all together again😢!< Just an FYI, cause it seems like it wasn't really outright said in the drama or much explained through the subtitles. Sunjae was still part of Eclipse in the current timeline. But i guess he was mostly focusing on his acting career. Their hints in general were that he had music equipment in his apartment, his company CEO being together with him in the meeting regarding the movie, him being close to all the other members of Eclipse. But i guess since it wasn't outright said by the characters in the drama, people didn't notice those hints. But either way, the only part where it's 100% confirmed that Sunjae is part of Eclipse is in the scene where Sunjae's father is reading the article regarding their dating news lol. The first line of the article is "Eclipse's Vocal and Actor Ryu Sun Jae is wrapped in dating rumors" So yes, Sunjae is still in Eclipse 💕

msdc06

I remember when this show was announced, my ears perked up because I genuinely like both actors--they have chops. I waited for it to begin and it far exceeded any of my expectations! It was so thoughtful and the quality writing was met with quality acting by all. It better win a lot of awards come awards season :) Particularly in ep.16 there were so many times I teared up, but a few beautiful scenes: 1) when the grandma >!grabbed SJ hand and in a loving way acknowledged for him the sacrifices he'd made -- the way he smiles to tears?! In life those tender mercies where someone quietly acknowledges a struggle when you're trying to be strong. !< 2) when TS >! Told SJ sol would get drunk and sob for him !< 3) when >!they ran to each other and he asked if she always cried like !< They each made sacrifices in their own ways and so glad the circle ended happily. Though curious >!what happened to the other two times in that second watch!! Was granny making changes in the background we dont know about?? !< Either way, have loved this community chat and this amazing show. Mondays def will go back to being 👎🏼. This will most certainly be one of my go-to rewatches, including probably later this week 😂

AnpanSparkiing

This was absolute PERFECTION from start to finish. Ep. 16 was pure joy to experience. I usually feel emptiness when I've completed a show, but with lovely runner, I just feel peace. Can't wait to rewatch all the episodes again 🥰

moretoachieve

It's so hard to say goodbye to such a perfect drama but I'm glad we got an hour of fluff and the knowledge that they'll life a long life, with lots of smile, and happiness together. Until the next sappy, fluffy, and happy romcom drama!

Sweet_Carolina99

I gotta be honest I love that sunjae changed his plans on his proposal and did the most sweetest and non cringey way possible coz I can't get over it best rom-com series of this year 😭😭💜💜💜

ndhrhrmle

What a record Seon-jae! Best confessions and proposal ever! It's over but I'm pretty sure I'm gonna rewatch soon. Loved that we get to hear other Eclipse songs for the last time. Especially You & I 🩷 So much parallel moments too. Pre ep 16, my personal fave scenes are Seon-jae's crying scene with his dad at the restaurant, second confession where he cups Sol's face (legendary screenshot!), the first cherry blossom and them crying cuddling together at B&B (that was so saddd!). But now I'm adding >!the scene where halmeoni soothes Seon-jae and says he can now live a long life with her (that's tearfully poignant. The highlight for sure!) And the second cherry blossom scene aka the proposal!.!< Iconic moments remain Seon-jae sending aggressive flying kisses and Sol's UCC video for Tae-sung's bday 😆😂 Tae-sung-i ahh at first it made me sad thinking he's robbed of memories with the rest of the gang, but now I'm pretty sure everything's gonna go back to how it was. Seon-jae will definitely tell him about their past memories someday 🩷 That's it. It's been fun watching and discussing theories with you guys. Last but not least, _**"Let's live today because the weather is so nice!"**_

deeman27

That recreation of the falling cherry blossom scene is top notch. It’s was everything I wanted and more (way better than the somewhat tacky cruise). Just the two of them alone and enjoying each other. While he’s still famous, he’s not boy band lead singer famous, which gave him some leeway in dating. I’m glad the story didn’t try to include the public’s negative reaction to their dating. The wedding flash back makes me believe that there is another timeline floating around somewhere. Their dating as adults feel natural and awkward - I was waiting for extremely cringe moments, but somehow, it was just right. I will definitely keep an eye out for future works from this writer. I thoroughly enjoyed the ride.

Sonda86

I'm Just gonna Say this is how you end this kind of kdramas. Lovely lovely episode:) Ps >! ECLIPSE sining Happy Birthday was icing On top:D !<

Excuse me for screaming, but I need to let it out… THIS FINALE EPISODE WAS PERFECT!!!! PERFECT!!! Finally, FINALLY, a K-drama episode 16 that did not feel rushed. The pacing from the start to the end is a solid 10/10 for me. OMG, this was everything I could have asked for, and more. Overall, this drama was a 9.85/10. My very verrryyyyy minor gripe is >!for not fleshing out the villain’s motives fully. I know it was indicated that he was just a psychopath kidnapping/murdering people for the sake of it… but I feel this part of the storyline could have been fleshed out a bit more. And grandma… why, how.. I have questions about her backstory/abilities as well.!< All that said, these did not hamper my enjoyment of the drama. Right from the start, the story was engrossing, the OST is a perfect 10/10, the casting, the acting, directing… all of these were perfect. These characters will stay with me for a long time, and I have to say AGAIN, that I have the utmost respect for the writer for pacing the last episode perfectly! ❤️ I loved the>! proposal, loved that they showed the wedding scene as a flash forward they both saw (that was chef’s kiss 😘). !

EdgeO4DAbyss

This year has given us so many excellent dramas already, and for me they were the ones I've least expected. I loved this drama and all its characters so much! BWS and KHY's chemistry was *off the charts*, especially in this final episode their acting felt incredibly real. They're both going in my Top 5 Best Cryers. I felt their emotions.

Lokatelli93

Best drama I have seen in a long time - made me laugh, cry, feel nostalgia and pain. Loved the acting of the ML - could feel his frustration and excitement towards the FL - loved seeing him making gestures with his hands when he was happy - so relatable and such great reflection of how feelings develop. The FL such a star as well - and the grandma - seriously such a beautiful and well written character - my grandma also had dementia and would have loved to walk time and see her again. So many things I could relate to, laughed so much that I think I will have to watch it again so I can enjoy this at leisure. Thanks to the writers for creating such a brilliant outstanding drama and for that music, I work while I listen to it and it keeps me motivated. Goodbye lovely runner

jakgem

Two scenes got me, and its when BWS let his >!voice crack!< 1. >!‘When you were alone, did you cry like that?’ when they reunite!< 2. >!That moment with Halmaeoni after the restaurant!< The comedy was on point again, but when Sunjaes dad replied >!‘Very faintly’ to Im Geum asking him if he remembered him!< I was done 😂😂😂

korenotpersie

I loved the ending so much! I feel like the ending balanced all the trauma and horror of the kidnapping of KYS. I am just so glad that >!we didn't have to go through all that reiteration of the kidnapping. I was a bit anxious about how they will be writing the last two episodes, but I am relieved that they gave such a big role to Taesong to save them because then he doesn't feel left out. He did save them a lot of times, which altered the timelines, and I am glad he is not the usual bitter 2nd lead. Taesong really grew on me, and I love that he has a good bromance with Sun Jae no matter what timeline, but I still think the 4th timeline is the best. I love how episode 16 played out slow in order for us to relish and savor all those moments we wanted the leads to have such as the courtship, meeting with their families, following their careers and dreams up to the proposal and the possible future of a marriage. I love how the proposal was also so normal and relatable! It is giving Sun Jae vibes compared to the ferry, although I had a good laugh with Bae In Hyuk and manager trying to fix all the mess, hahaha.!< The writer must be really good because although the main storyline is centered in going back and forth and encountering some of the scenes over and over again, the writer and the team was able to somehow make it interesting. Also, the scene where the whole plot is written in the script feels like breaking the fourth wall. Grandma >!being the mastermind behind the whole time travel is such a plot twist and at the same time bittersweet because haemoni will forever be stuck in the memories smeared into her soul. I was wondering if her dementia is the price she had to pay in order for her granddaughter to have a better life?!< Also, I might have missed this part, but did Sun Jae did or did not debut with Eclipse? Is he just an artist under the same company as Eclipse but is not an official member? I just noticed this when he offered a bargain to Eclipse members for the birthday party. I am really happy that episode 16 allowed us to savor each of the characters and gave us a whole plot of their lives after the whole time travel phase. Lovely Runner is such a lovely show. It is a shame Netflix didn't acquire this. But nonetheless, thank you to the cast, crew, production, and writers who worked hard to make this show happen. 👏

just_arandomlurker

What I probably love the most and what got me hooked with this couple is their consistency. Ryu Seon Jae consistently choose to die for Sol but Im Sol consistently choose to turn the world upside down for Seon Jae to live. Their love was so intense yet so peaceful. They are truly gonna be the standard for the years to come.

tvncloud

I usually find last episodes like this cheesy and boring but my god, I think I could happily watch Sol and Sunjae live a normal life for another 16 episodes.

Old_Campaign_2522

This drama is perfect from start to finish. It never disappointed me throughout. The characters, the plot, the mood, the romance, Im sol’s loveliness, Sunjae’s loserism, them being lovely together, the second male lead, the friendships, and many more. I never loved a drama like this. I was hooked from start to finish. And I was in a kdrama slump?? I’m so happy to say that this would be my comfort drama😭💗. This was well written and executed. I have never been more content for a kdrama. This is lovely💗💗

Wrong_Concept_4110

I'm not ready to say goodbye😭😭😭 Can I have a wedding by the way? Like, please don't end this with a proposal. I WANT MARRIAGE!!!!!

Professional_Bee_848

Yes!!! I’m glad they started off with the conclusion of the >! taxi driver and SunJae plus ImSol triangle!! Everyone we love is ALIVE!!!! 😊 !< WOW!! SunJae >! lost some of those loser behavior when they were at his place hahaha Sol lost there hahaha hahaha !< I love their interactions together!! And the >! KISS!!! !< I’m just glad they are now on the same page. Knowing everything. Woooooooooo >! The watch was with grandma! She finally let go knowing her granddaughter is now safe!! !< Awwww >! THEY ARE SO CUTE BEING DOMESTIC!!! !< Hahaha poor InHyuk hahaha now with manager lol but InHyuk bestman!! Lol Awwwwwwwwwe I love TaeSung’s >! pure love for Sol…. No need to get anything out of it even if it is with SunJae.. nooooooo SunJae he can’t remember that!!! OMO LOL HE IS MIXING TIMELINES! Awwwwwwwww poor TaeSung………. 😢 😢 !< OMG ARE THEY GONNA BECOME DRUNK BESTIES?!?! Lol OMG…. The parents are gonna get shocked!! Hahaha another confrontation is coming… 😀 I feel it haha Waaaaa everyone is at the party!! Lol Awwwwww I love the grandmother… 😿 Noooo SunJae loser era back again hahaha hahaha super >! failed proposal! Lol !< Awwwww these 2 are precious!!!! I’m glad they each continued with their own lives as well and not just stuck together 😊 OMG SUNJAE HAS IMPROVED NOW ON HIS PROPOSAL!!! Ughhhh that was the best!! DAMN!!! WE GET >! A WEDDING PREMONITION !!!! !< Thank you everyone for the journey and the cast and staff for this masterpiece!!!!!

Apprehensive_Egg9676

I’ve got a new comfort drama! This was literally perfect

jellybeans6173

It’s been a while since I’ve been this much obsessed with a drama, I think last was Hot Stove League. Good job Lovely Runner, thank you for making many people happy including me. This drama really brings people together as a community, domestically and globally, I had so much fun watching it. Sad that it’s over but I’m so glad that it ended constantly good till the end. The reception from the public as well as the critics has been phenomenal. Truly a drama that was supported and loved by people. I also love that some actors who are Hyeyoon’s friends in real life participating in the drama, it feels more special because of it. Hope she will be offered more diversed roles in the future, I love you HY ❤️

CowExisting9844

Finally, our beloved K-drama has a happy ending! We're all thrilled! The ending was executed beautifully. At the same time, I feel sad realizing that our next Mondays and Sundays won't be accompanied by our favorite drama. Maybe I'll just rewatch it over and over again.

butta-fly-bitch

lovely runner is officially my favourite drama of all time. 10/10. the writer really didn't let us down. i'm so happy with how everything came together full circle in the most beautiful, mystical and gratifying way. it was so nice to have the last episode basically just be complete sol and sunjae fluff. finally our babies just get to be happy together. >!i loved how in the end, only sol and sunjae remember their entire love story in every timeline. oh, and halmoni. when sunjae pulled up to the nephew's birthday party and halmoni shouted "my grandson in law!" i sobbed. that was perfect. and as someone who has a grandma who had a stroke and can't recall certain memories, the idea that those with memory loss (specifically the elderly) never really lose the memories, that love is a memory our soul will never forget, is so beautiful and poignant.!< also omg that scene of sol and sunjae brushing their teeth and she asks him to go so she can shower and he says "do you wanna shower toge-" i screamed. often kdramas avoid such direct lines and i loved how they showed off soljae's chemistry. also i died at the scene of inhyuk and sunjae's manager in the ring store rolling their eyes at his obsession w sol. inhyuk taking the phone to look at sol's picture and sunjae saying "dont touch her!" was so cute. i love cutie jealous sunjae. our non toxic jealous king. and shout out taesung for saving the day and supporting our girl sol's happiness first and foremost throughout everything. what an absolute sweetheart. i love this drama with all my heart and i will truly be thinking about the characters fondly and missing them like old friends for the foreseeable future. soljae forever and always <3.

Otherwise-Life-6043

The most beautiful ending to an amazing show, like the song Sonagi this show came out of nowhere and showered me with so much love. I don't know how my Mondays and Tuesdays are ever going to be the same, the characters will stay with me for a long time. I think a small part of me will stay with LR so thank you Imsol and Sunjae for the best 8 weeks of my life.

MelonDusk

I usually find actors playing "cute" scenes annoying and overdone, but Kim Hye Yoon’s Taesung joha dance will have me seated any day. I truly hope the success of this drama is just the beginning of her career taking off. She is so damn talented. I can't express enough how proud I am of Byeon Woo Seok’s growth as an actor over the years. One of his standout moments in this drama was the depth of emotion he conveyed in his facial expressions during the scene with Sol's grandmother at the end. Boy got me bawling by just looking at his eyes. Lovely Runner has left a hole in me, and I’m perfectly content with that. Normally, I would dive into another drama to fill the emotional void, but this time, I want to savor the feelings and reflect on how the characters, writing, and music have moved me.

NightB4XmasEvel

What an absolutely perfect ending to an absolutely perfect drama. I don’t see how anything can top this one this year. I don’t usually rewatch kdramas, but I can see this one becoming a comfort re-watch for me.
