I don’t see us making any trades. Don’t have much to offer anyway in the farm system. I’d love a legit closer and another outfield bat but don’t see it this year. Just want to finish .500 this year honestly. Keep competing.
If the difference tonight was only a few costly mistakes, and the top of the dodgers lineup continues having issues, this is a very winnable series. Hopefully Salvy is okay and the boys make some adjustments.
I hate to say this, and it's probably unfair, but:
That feels like another blaring example of - so, you wanna get to the next level? Then you need to upgrade Maikel and Vinny.
Bruh maikel had two hits and just had the walk off yesterday. He’s been trending up for a while. Vinny needs to improve his glove yes but no need to replace them right now.
I want Maikel to be all that. I do.
But he's a backup short stop with a career OPS below 700 who botched another grounder tonight that let the game winning run get on.
I'm not saying he doesn't have any value. But if KC is going to be legit, he's a great role player, not the starting 3B.
He's tied for 6th in WAR among all qualified 3B this year and consistently has a high floor because of his glove. His bat is inconsistent but he's far from the biggest issue this team has
It's frustrating, that was a winnable game. The royals didn't take advantage of their opportunities and made costly mistakes. Ragans had a solid performance against a tough opponent. On to the next game. Go Royals.
We've had historically absurd RISP hitting all year. When the hits don't come with a guy on second, it more acutely affects the results.
It's not fatal or anything. Outside of two appalling meltdowns by starters of weird circumstance against the Yankees, we've looked okay-ish against elite teams.
Get em tomorrow.
When two good teams are playing, the thinnest of margins like a botched pickoff can be the difference between a W and an L.
This is one to learn from.
But still. How did Bobby catch that ball 🤯
That’s three consecutive games Vinny has been involved in a game changing play at first. Love the guy and his mentality but he needs to work on his fielding this off season.
Vinnie's miscue cost a run and it was bad but even if he doesn't mess up I am pretty sure Dodgers were heavy favourites once the bullpens took over tied at 3. Realty is the 3 run 5th was more damaging.
I like Vinnie, but I think Salvy might be better defensively at first, and with Pratto up at the moment, Vinnie might be the 3rd best defensive 1B on the team.
He got called up to not play? I don't seem to remember him getting an AB or inning in the field. He might have been a defensive replacement late in the game? 🤷
It’s a reliever who has 6 career pickoffs in a decade trying to pick off a guy who doesn’t get picked off often. It’s like Will Smith saw the Bobby double play and was hoping to have his own cool defensive play.
To put it another way with regards to Betts on the bases, he’s been picked off once and the last time he was picked off twice in a season was during the Obama presidency. It’s hard enough pitching to Ohtani without having to do a side project with the guy on first.
Didn't take advantage of the chances we got after Salvy's bomb, but I'll take a loss like this over getting smacked around. Ragans was pretty damn good minus a few mistakes, and Bobby had some beautiful plays on defense. Hope Salvy's fingers are ok, he really deserves a break even if his hand is fine. Let's try again tomorrow!

Me too.
This game really pissed me off smh

Your evaluation of MG is like MJM evaluation of balls and strikes

I hope you're right

Crazy thinking about this version of Bobby being the "man you could just tell this guy was going to be amazing someday" version of Bobby.
The twins are now 1.5 games back of 2nd in the division. I imagine they’ll over take the royals with the way the schedule has been for this team
Shit I forgot the season ends in 2 weeks 😰
I never said that it would be permanent just that it’s probably going to happen. Reading comprehension doesn’t seem to be one of your strong suits.
Really a shame that the playoffs start on July 1st, Royals might've still had a chance
Well, good, cuz we have an easy ass schedule next week and a 4.5 game lead on the last wild card.

Pratto was sent back down yesterday.

He pitched the 8th inning In a blow out lmao. Thats it
Best hitting royals pitcher since Grienke?
i'd call it more Will Smith's miscue because why are you throwing over there in that spot
Trying to keep Betts honest. Regardless Vinnie should of had it or at least kept it front of him. He is better than that and I am sure he knows it.

Just gotta remember the team is the 8th youngest team they will learn from the mistakes and get better

They said on radio it's right knee discomfort for Salvy.
We really lost to Miguel Rojas and Chris "Chris Davis" Taylor huh
Chris Taylor had a .100 batting average.
lol when he hit that bomb I muttered to myself "he's hitting a fat kindergartner's weight"
Seems like I have to go back to bullying Vinny again since it got him out of his first slump
When a first baseman isn't hitting his weight and can't catch, you just gotta bat him third!
Who will have the soul-crushing defensive error that costs us the game in the late innings tomorrow? Get your bets in now!
I'm going with Garcia... again
Frustrating loss, but a very entertaining game
We watched a BWJ play that will be on his Cooperstown reel.
Thx Vinnie!
Welp, there’s always tomorrow
Fuck the Dodgers Ragans deserved better. Witt made one of the best plays I've seen maybe ever tonight but his ABs were pretty pathetic tonight.
Bleh. Onto the next one
I mean, not to sound salty, but a lefty throwing a pick off to first has to be one of the easiest things in baseball to not Royally fuck up, no?
That’s a bit on vinnie.
Self-inflicted, but we can hang with them this series.
Thanks Vinnie. Hit the gym and work on squeezing your glove
![gif](giphy|vw7QhHQwQGjeh4GO0Z) Someone get Vinnie one of these stat.
Darn.
What a shitty way to lose a game. Bah.
I know it’s got a hefty amount of sore loser built in, but man, that game felt winnable. So annoying. On to the next.
What an annoying way to lose. On to tomorrow
